I LOVE going for pizza at Smug's! It's delicious. Honestly, best pizza in town. Customer service is excellent, and we've found ourselves coming here for lunch much more often since they started accepting cards. The only reason they don't get the full 5 stars is because while my husband and I usually prefer to sit at the table by the window rather than at the counter along the back wall, the stools are too high to sit comfortably. It would be much better with just a couple shorter chairs there. read more

Crust is unlike anything anyone else is designing; the flavor in the dough is as distinct as Round Table; just hits you and you know that texture is rare AF. My BF and our families stopped by in Eureka from camping for the 4th of July fireworks. While waiting, we got really hungry and looked up on yelp something quick we could grab to eat. This place is what popped out to me! Their was about a 10 minute line. It's a really small shop so it was out the door. Only one table inside for siting. While waiting I noticed they kept restocking with fresh different topping pizzas. It's a simple place with a simple menu. You can buy by the slice quick I really appreciate b/c not many places do that anymore. They also have combo deals with chips and a drink. They only had to two types of chips which I thought was a downside. Thought they can add some variety. I ordered a standard slice of pepperoni and it was really good. Probably the best local pizza I've ever had in any community. As a local I would RUN my ass to Smugs during my short lunch during high school. It took my whole lunch but it was worth it. It's always tough to find a place that sells pizza by the slice. Smug's is your best option in old town eureka, and the food is delicious. The prices are reasonable, but the thing I really like is how hygienic the staff is. They wash their hands right in front of you after dealing with cash. It's really good pizza. This location in Eurkea is a lot like the location in Arcata: small, but adequate. There are only a few seats, and they are at a bar-type rail. I think there's one table with two chairs by the door. So, it's typically a grab-and-go type place (just like in Arcata). The pizza itself is very good, and they always have something new to offer. I'm not sure on the logic of what they cook or why, but you'll get something with meat, some veggie, something you might not have expected. Smug's is good like that.
