So this place is always packed opens at 3 PM because you know people don't want pizza at lunch,…read morewhat kind of psychopath would want pizza at lunchtime you know. The normal wait time for a pizza here is one to two hours, sometimes even three hours to get a pizza to go. This last visit it was a two hour wait so what I did was pay damn near double and just buy eight slices of the pizzas that were made to be reheated. Instead of paying about 30 bucks for a pizza I ended up paying over $50. That's not even what the complaint is about the cashier was about to give us eight plates for eight slices of pizza when I wanted to take my pizza home. While we were waiting my friend and I got two beers and we were finishing our beers. While we're drinking, our beers here comes the pizza and two small pizza boxes. When the person giving us our pizza boxes saw us drinking our beers he asked do you want me to keep these pizza boxes in the warmer to which my friend and I both replied no thank you we're going to eat some. To which the worker responded extremely rudely and unprovoked wow if you're going to eat it here why would you waste the boxes? Maybe because my friend and I don't wanna eat a whole pizza. We don't wanna wait two hours for you guys to bake a pizza that takes 10 minutes to bake. Maybe if you guys weren't so slow. We could've ordered a normal pizza and got a normal pizza box. Or maybe we should've just got eight plates for eight slices of pizza and juggle them the out of the store to please you guys?... the dude was an absolutely rude, you act as if we're stealing from your children's mouth because we got two to go boxes for eight slices of pizza? I wish I could use the choice words I want to use to describe that worker but yelp will just take the review down. I immediately lost my appetite after the person was so blatantly rude in front of all the other customers. Seriously what is wrong with your employee there what is his issue? The place is constantly packed like a sardine can you cant move around or even sit. The only reason I tolerate the horribly crowded chaotic atmosphere is because their pies are decent, but theyre not decent enough to be belittled and talked down to like a theif for getting two to go boxes from the cashier, the guy was literally pissed off that we were taking up seats in the store and had the audacity to have to go boxes. If you're that upset or worried about people occupying your store, maybe buy yourselves a bigger location or rent a larger location instead of making your customers feel so unwelcome. Or better yet dont hire A holes to work for you and make your customers feel welcome. I loved headies pizza but I wont come back and ill tell everyone about how rude your employee was and it being the reason I refuse to be a patron any longer. DO BETTER. EDUCATE YOUR EMPLOYEES ON HOW TO PROPERLY TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS. To dump on someone over 2 to go boxes, get yourself a horrible review is pathetic... i guess 8 paper plates woulda been the more eco friendly choice.... Or is it the money your business is so concerned about losing? Maybe if you're struggling so hard to provide to go boxes to your customers, you should charge people for to go boxes. That way you don't have to verbally abuse me in front of other customers when I come to eat some food. Its not my problem anymore as again I wont be coming back. 60 dollars and a 15 percent tip to be defecated on by your worker over some to go boxes. What a fabulous dining experience....

I'm often stuck in little hotels with nothing around during holidays, and I often find myself eating somewhat poorly because of that. Tonight, I decided to somewhat mopily order a pizza, and I looked around Doordash, settling on Smug's in McKinleyville. I ordered a pizza with tomato, pepperoni, black olives and fresh garlic. This is the single best pizza that I've ever had in my life. I've had new york pizza in new york, chicago pizza in chicago, and I love a good detroit pie. But I have never in my life had a pizza that it provoked me to do nothing but rave about it for over an hour. The crust had this perfect crispy crunchiness--not like a pan pie, where oil soaks in, or a thin new york pie with a corn-meal bed, but just this light 'snap' when I bit through it. The cheese was perfectly sweet and salty, the sauce was amazingly balanced, with the perfect tang, the ingredients were fresh and had so much life . . . I literally almost ate an entire 16" pizza in one sitting. It was so good that I legit called the pizza place to thank them. I don't know if this was a one off or if this place is always that good, but I am honestly blown away. That's it. That's the review.

Other pizza's with loads of cheese and more dense crust can be tempting and even make my mouth a bit happy for moment but my stomach feels dense afterwards. The crust has chew and structure though not like a cracker (which was a pizza trend elsewhere that I wasn't liking but also not fond of the bread like flavorless thicker crusts (not talking deep dish which a place in Bay Area did well somehow). I forget the owner's name..begins with a P I think ....anyway very hard worker who puts his head and heart into producing his products. They do catering too..i looked it up on FB or Instagram and was amazed at how many other things he makes and how delicious it also looked. I'd give 6 stars if that was an option and they had some oregano or other herbs on the side to put on pizza if we like ...pizza places in general used to do that and haven't seen it anywhere. Oregano is easy to grow. Some might find it pricy for the lightness of the pizza so if you need a hearty meal their pizza might not do it for you. I have only had their pizza at the farmers market and it tastes so good i have to use will power not to eat the whole thing . I save half for the next day and sometimes add an egg on it for breakfast. Reheating in cast iron pan brings the crust back to life and I don't put it in the frig overnight to also keep the crust good and i turn the pizza upside down so crust not soggy but with his pizza no much chance of that cause he does some sort of dough magic that makes his crust hold and not soak up the toppings.

Now I got a lump of bread, cheese and sauce we have to dig through. Just want to point out 6 twists come with 2 sauces. Not 1. My fault for ordering thin crust, which does not come in Medium size so I had to get a large. Probably should have went for the original crust. Got olive oil and garlic which seemed to be devoid of any garlic or any other spices (oregano, basil, parsley would have added some flavor to a bland crust). Plenty of toppings but the lack of flavor was hard to overcome and the thin crust did not cook well. They say you can remove from tray for crispier crust after 10 minutes but there were gaps in the crust (too thin?) and places the dough was so soggy it didn't seem to pull away from the tray to place directly on oven rack. First time at Papa Murphys and I liked the concept of take and bake at home but I don't know that it was better then a frozen pizza in a box at the grocery store. And unfortunately the VRBO I'm at doesn't have spices in the pantry. I doubt I would try again. Call your pizza in ahead of time and it will be waiting for you. We called our thin crust custom ingredient pizza in the other night and spotted them about 10 minutes, and by the time we drove to the store, it was waiting for us at the counter. Quick and easy. I have been to other PMs around the country and have had a variety of experiences from good to not so good, and this Papa Murphy's is at the top of the heap.
