Be wary of the hot headed owner. I had an AC repair scheduled yesterday. His crew came and did initial diagnose. They told me that they will need to hook up nitrogen and leave it overnight to find leak and they will charge $325. The tech connected nitrogen and in could of seconds pointed to the pipe which was clear to the eye as cut as the source of leak. He wanted to be paid $325 for find the leak that is clearly visible. When I asked about it, the owner became upset and ordered the crew to leave. When I called next day hoping he would have calmed down by then, he hung up saying he would not do business with me. Maybe he is having a rough day but this is not how businesses should operate. read more

Tony is the owner of the company. He is very friendly, professional, and easy to work with. His price is fair and he did not upsell me anything. I researched multiple companies on Yelp and decided to give Tony a try. Turns out the result is beyond excellent. I had installed a brand new Trane 3 tons HVAC system with zoning control for my 3 story townhouse. During installing the zoning duct, Tony had identified some issues and quickly came up with the plan along with the fair price to modified some ductwork in order to have the zoning set up correctly. Since we are on the ductwork, he also suggested I upsize some of my ducts to maximize the airflow and make the new machine run more efficiently. As we already work on the ductwork, so the cost of upgrading some part of the duct did not cost me that much, so I took this advice. End result is great! Now my house cold down fast with great airflow. I will highly recommend Tony to any of my friends who need a new system or repair. Side note: I was installing the new system for the new purchase home with the major renovation. Of course on the hottest day our AC took a dump. I called several hvac companies and everyone was bogged down with requests. Communication with customers needs to be improved. Scheduled an inspection at 8:00 am and waited until around 8:10 and then called. Got a voice message saying the mailbox was full. About 10 minutes later was able to get through, but to make a long story short, I was not called and told there would be a long delay and I had to instigate the phone calls to find out what was going on. There is a ton of information online about type of equipment, average costs to include installation, recommendations based on parts manufacturer, size and age of residence, etc. I did all that in hopes of being able to provide contractors enough information to provide an estimate. I then contacted approximately 10 local HVAC installers, Tony was just 1 of 3 who would even reply with a ballpark estimate to help whittle down vendors based on equipment, time to install, warranties, and cost. Everyone else wanted to give me a 2-3 hour window in the middle of my work day to actually come visit the house. Like any type of contract work, I am well aware that no one will provided an accurate estimate without visiting the job-site. Tony came in with the best price, great product and warranty, and we were able to find a time that worked best to efficiently install the A/C unit. In addition to the actually unit install, he also recommended updating my 60 year old duct work in the attic which I did. There are two of us who work from home quite a bit. Tony and his assistant arrived on time every day. When they were finished they cleaned up all areas in include sweeping the hall areas and would take all scraps with them. Getting under the house, two of them in the attic, working outside, not once were either of us interrupted by loud noise or people getting in the way! I had problems with a new thermostat I installed. Tony called me after I called him and was willing to walk me through the wiring process over the phone to get it done assuming without charging me. I thought it was nice when I couldn't even get a hold of other electricians. Just to make sure every was hooked up correctly, I just had him stop by to take a look. 5 stars for Duran HVAC! I called them in the morning because my water heater pilot light wouldn't stay lit. I thought the $15 thermocouple part may need to be replaced or a copper wire was bent. I called various vendors and was quoted $150-500 for a visit. Some said they don't service/repair them; they only replace them for $1400-2000! That seems socially irresponsible to me when we need to fight for the health of our planet and stop filling our landfills when something can be repaired! Duran HVAC installed a 2-unit mini split system in our family room and bedroom. They came back with a very good bid and were an excellent company to work with. Tony answered my many questions before the work started. They started on time, and finished up in less than a day. They went under the house to install the 220 line, not around the outside. They went through the attic for the second unit connection rather that around the outside. Our Air Conditioner broke on one of the hottest days of the year (103+ degrees). Tony was very responsive and was able to come to our house within a few hours of me contacting him, exactly when he promised. He did the repairs quickly, and educated us on the proper maintenance of our unit, filters, etc. He is also very honest, he knew we were desperate to have our AC restored, and given the heatwave, repair companies were overwhelmed and impossible to come by. Called Duran HVAC on two separate occasion - Furnace, Water Heater Both times they were fast, excellent workmanship/quality, and cheap. The most important thing I want to highlight is that Tony is very honest. He will not do unnecessary work that is not needed to make more money which other contractors do. Tony and the team responded both time within the day to fix our issues which was important since we couldn't use the heater when it was really cold, and in the case of water heater it was flooding our garage. I wanted to disconnect the A/C for future unrelated work, got a quote from Tony (who was oddly enough referred by someone in a competitor's office!), he explained the process clearly, and he scheduled an appointment the next morning at 8AM which I agreed to. Got subsequent quotes after we talked from reputable companies, that were much lower, but it was too late to cancel, didn't want to do it over the phone out of courtesy because I had already agreed to the 8AM appointment. Thought I'd ask him later to match the market rate. The tech arrived on time, and he was very nice but didn't seem to be very experienced, he had to get instructions from Tony, and also he didn't bring with him the container that stores the refrigerant (which was basically the important part of the job), he had to make a trip back to the shop and come back. The work appears to be acceptable. When I asked Tony later if he was willing to match the market rate, he refused. Tony was ok on the phone, and his communication was professional, but his rate was 40% higher than other quotes I received, and the work was not particularly exceptional, it was basic and routine, something that any HVAC company can do. My advice is not to rush and accept the first quote and a rushed appointment, get quotes and pick a reputable company and a person you trust and feel comfortable with. I didn't do that.
