    Water heater
    John G.

Contacted early this AM and was promptly messaged by the owner. Detailed and specific (not like many of the other responses I received). I have a different type of venting for my water heater that home depot doesn't carry. They had the water heater in stock and arrived in about an hour of me accepting the service. Leak arrived and was very friendly, described the work well and was clean and tidy. They aren't the cheapest quote I received, but chose them because the were highly rated and knew what they were talking about. Didn't push a technician visit as I shared pictures and details about our water heater. Thank you team! Highly recommend!

Damage to my garage wood panels

TLDR; they are great if you need a one time install and NEVER needs after sale service. However if you ever need them to fix some problems AFTERWARDS (even if it's an install problem). In other words if you are giving them $$$ they were great but if it's to fix somerhing so you are not giving them money it would take 2 weeks or more to get them to reluctantly I understand all the 5 stars and that's how I felt when I had them first install a tankless heater at a property in 2019 right before I sold it. In fact I had a total of 4 installations so I thought I was a fairly loyal customer. However let me explain my 2 star rating. 1. I think the price definitely crept up. We all know prices went up but for my 2 tankless installations the price literally doubled from 2019 to 2023. It was in the $2300 range and it went to $4600-5000 range. I have both receipts so I'd know. This however is not one of the primary reasons. 2. To justify the high price the installer said there is refund for tankless water heater which turned out to be wrong. The refund was for heat pump tank water heater not for tankless. If this was the only problem then I would just attribute it to him being misinformed. 3. The installation of the water heater had a PVC tube that's too short so the water seeped into wood panels of my garage and I only found out because of the stains of water that crept out of my garage wood panels and the mold that started growing surrounding the PVC tube. 4. When I called Chris about the problem he didn't apologize. He didn't even took it into heart and reluctantly said he'll get someone to look at it IF and WHEN he had someone in the area. That took 2 weeks and eventually he reluctantly scheduled someone to fix the PVC tube. 3. We also found a leak during the fix but couldn't figure out where it came from. When I called Chris about it he was annoyed and told me to "diagnose the problem myself" and call him after I found the problem. So as a homeowner I'm supposed to figure out problems myself because they don't have time for it. What he's saying is that he doesn't want to "waste" time fixing problems that he doesn't get paid. In fact he actually told me not to call him because I'm a bad customer. So yeah as someone who gave him 4 paid jobs I'm a bad customer so I'm speechless after that. 4. After some research I realized that installing a pump (in fact it's my own old pump) to recirculate hot water on a tankless heater was a bad idea but they did it anyway without giving me advice or in fact installed one with internal pump. Once again is it the responsibility of the homeowner to know it's a bad idea? 5. This is the kicker, when I told Chris I found out that culprit is the old pump I had, he quoted me price and would be able to come as soon as next day. Once again if he can make money he would be able to come ASAP but as soon as it's a POST sale work it would have to "if and when I have someone in the area and don't call me." I understand the need to make money but customer service sometimes necessitates helping customers (with without being paid).

Very clean and well put together Tankless install!

Ask the Community - Bay Area Water Heaters

Hello Chris - We need to install a new HPWH (40-gal) and a HoldRite enclosure. Is this something your company can do?

We can. You need to order the enclosure and we can do everything else. Do you have electrical run to the site for the heat pump. No one makes a 40 gallon. 50 gallon yes

How much do you charge to flush tankless water heater?

I don’t have someone that can do that currently it is very easy to do and can be done by yourself check YouTube on how to flush tankless water heater

What is the ballpark cost of installing a hot water Recirculation pump to a gas water tank heater set up? A return line is pre-plumbed already.

    Around $1300-1500

The previous owner of my home did some homemade water heater exhaust piping. Does the new water heater install include any exhaust vent modifications? If not, does your company work on exhaust vents as well?

We can certainly do that. Will need to see what is involved

Hi Christ, We just bought a new water heater about less than 5 years ago. However I heard it's good to get it inspected once a year because there's a possibility tank can blow…

No need to spend any money on getting it inspected. There is nothing we really can look at. Water heaters do not blow up. Average life is 8-12 yrs. You should be fine

Can I get a general ballpark figure of what the cost would be to replace an existing gas water heater with a new gas water heater, including the heater and install? Current one is 70 gallons I believe, but looking to replace with a 40 or 50 gallon.

Generally $1750-1950 including new flexible water lines new flexible gas line and removal of the old unit. 6 yr warranty on the tank and 1 yr parts and labor. Can usually do same day or next day

Do you install heat pump (hybrid electric) water heaters?

Yes we do. Please call me at (650) 315-8494 to discuss the details

Does Bay Area Water Heaters accept PayPal?

    Yes

A few days ago I noticed that on one of our faucets, if I closed the hot water side too fast there was a little bit of a rattle under the house. I thought I could handle it myself after asking Perplexity what it could be and installed a water arrestor. That didn't help so I thought, maybe it could be the strapping. I reached out to Handy Plumbing Man on a Saturday and they were quick to respond that they could have someone there on Monday. Monday morning came and their technician, Miguel, went down and found that one of the pipes they had worked on wasn't totally secured. No problem, mistakes happen. He said he'd call the office to get technicians over to check the strapping on the work below. I had to go into work but did get a message from them later on that day to see if they could get someone over the same day (Monday) to fix it. This is more on me that I had already gone into work, but they said they could do tomorrow morning at 8am. The guys, Carlos and Baltazar, came bright and early, went under the house and secured the pipe and then some. Awesome company!

They responded to my request so fast I thought it was a bot, but it wasn't. A real person called and left a message. I called back to explain what I was interested in and he scheduled an appointment for that day (I think). I was assured that I'd be called or texted when the technician was on his way. I expected to have to wait the full 2-hour window I was given, but no! I was called about 5 minutes before the window started to see if I was still available. The technician arrived exactly on time, right at the start of the window! After a short explanation of my needs he just said "OK, let's take a look at the space and talk about it." He explained every step of what they'd do to install a tankless water heater, he looked at the whole area to check for pipes, electrical access, spacing inside and out for a condensation line - making feel very comfortable that it would be planned before the installation to avoid last minute issues. A big plus, he told me he'd be part of the installation team. He also told me I should go ahead and get another few quotes. I think these guys are confident they're giving the prices in the sweet spot of costs. Then we spent time just talking about landscaping and plants! I'm not in a hurry to start this project, it's on my list of improvements and I'm just starting to investigate. However, I'm extremely impressed with the service given at this stage, the thorough approach in explaining, and the honestly. I will get another quote, but the next one has a high bar to cross; not only the service, but Water Heaters Masters quote was WELL below the only other quote I had gotten so far. Alex sent our technician, Rojo, who helped install a new 40-gallon gas water heater in our indoor utility closet, and he was incredibly diligent, professional, and efficient from start to finish. Installing a tank in an inside closet can be tricky, but Rojo handled the entire job seamlessly in just 2 hours. He replaced everything with high-quality components, including: * New hot and cold water flex lines * A brand new water shut-off valve * A new gas flex line and sediment trap * Fully reworked earthquake straps (to meet California safety codes) * Properly updated T&P line and venting He also took care of the removal and disposal of our heavy 18 yr old tank, leaving the utility closet completely clean. If you want fair pricing, expert specialized service, and a technician who respects your time and home, call Water Heater Masters and ask for Rojo. Highly recommended!

We originally hired a plumber who claimed to have replaced the broken part, took payment, and assured us everything would be fine. Unfortunately, the issue continued, and we found ourselves relighting the pilot over and over again. Once winter arrived, taking cold showers in the morning became almost unbearable. I finally decided to look for a true water‑heater specialist and came across The Water Heater Guys on Yelp. I called and spoke with Luigi, who was incredibly easy to talk to. He asked for the serial number and immediately knew the model of our unit. After I explained the daily issues my family was dealing with, he told me what he believed the problem was and provided a clear quote. We scheduled an appointment, and Luigi arrived right on time. He instantly identified the issue and repaired everything that needed to be fixed. From that day forward, we've had consistent warm water.
