Phil & his crew did a phenomenal job in replacing our old gas furnace with a new Bryant heat pump system. Right from start to finish, Phil was very responsive to all our questions, quickly setup a date and the work was done within 3 days. His crew did a fantastic job in our attic and left the area spotless. We are very pleased with their service and professionalism and would highly recommend Reliable Air Mechanical. Hello! My name is Armando and I wanted to give Reliable Air Mechanical 5 stars! I was recommended my many Friends and Family. I requested a complete replacement of furnace, a/c, and tankless water heater. Unit moved from center of home into my attic since I did not have a pantry. Home has never felt better/ efficient and unlimited heat to our water. Craftmanship was top notch and no debris left behind. Would definitely recommend... read more

Phil and the Reliable Air Mechanical team did a great job in installing a heater and A/C system in my house. Phil initially did a free inspection of my old system and answered my questions patiently. Phil was very prompt in doing the inspection and giving a competitive quote over the weekend. I selected Reliable Air Mechanical after talking to several HVAC providers in the Bay Area. Their team did a very nice processional job of installing both heating and A/C on the same day. There was a minor error warning (system was working fine) on the thermostat after they left. I contacted Phil and he sent his team over the next day to take care of the issue promptly. I would highly recommend Phil and his team for your HVAC installs. read more

I was looking to install a duct booster fan in my attic so I was looking for an HVAC company and came across Reliable Air Mechanical, and they were great! Phil was very quick to respond, and provided a quote after a free consultation. The quote was very reasonable compared to other businesses too. Phil maintained good communication, with constant updates and reasonable timing. His team did a great job upgrading my ductwork as well! I would recommend Reliable Air Mechanical for your HVAC needs. read more

I wish that all vendors were like Reliable Air Mechanical. I originally found this vendor by searching NextDoor. I was looking for someone who was highly rated but also would offer reasonable pricing without all the unnecessary bells and whistles. Punctual. From the first in-home quote to the very end, John and his team provided clear timelines of when they would start and finish. They were never and the email reminders were also very helpful. I never had to worry about whether they were running late. Professional. His entire crew were 5-star professionals, and I felt safe having them work in my home. His crew and third-party vendors were kind and polite. Quality. Looking at the work that they did, modifications that they had to make and the result, I am very pleased with their work and clean-up efforts. Pricing. Very reasonable. I had priced this out with two other vendors but appreciated hearing his professional approach and recommendations without feeling like I was getting taken advantage of. Overall, I had to go with my instincts and felt like I could entrust them with this huge A/C project with my home. I am glad that I went in that direction and highly recommend their services. Give them a call and see for yourself. 5 stars! Thank you! read more

This company is pretty awesome. We used them for two separate projects in two separate houses in the past 10 years and have always been impressed by the service, price and quality of work. It doesn't matter if the job was just adding an efficient AC unit and nest thermostat, or, something more complicated like a dual fuel heat pump with inverters, these guys can do it all. Phil, the owner, even came out to the jobsite to perform inspections and check in on the team -- a sign that he actually cares about employees and customers. 5 stars all around. read more

Reliable Air Mechanical replaced my old furnace with a high efficiency one and installed a new A/C system. The work was professionally and efficiently completed in a day. Communication with the company was great and the crew arrived as scheduled to start the work. Replaced all the old fiberglass insulation as well. Reliable Air Mechanical - Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC Near Me - San Jose, California

We contacted Reliable Air Mechanical in San Jose for a quote on a 4-zone mini split system. Phil Dore came to our home, evaluated our layout, and recommended a central forced air heating and cooling system instead. While it was slightly more costly upfront, Phil explained it would be more efficient, easier to maintain, and better suited to our home long-term. We're extremely glad we went with his recommendation. The installation was seamless, and the crew was professional, respectful, and clearly experienced. Our new system runs perfectly and keeps the entire house comfortable. If you're looking for HVAC pros who are honest, knowledgeable, and customer-focused, we highly recommend Reliable Air Mechanical. Phil and his team exceeded our expectations! read more

This has been the worst AC provider I have ever dealt with. We paid nearly 15k for a new AC system and it started having issues soon after installation. We called for service multiple times and each time a different technician came out with a different explanation but no resolution. When the manager Phil finally came he insisted everything was working fine even though it clearly was not. We are still under a full coverage warranty but it seems they are avoiding spending the money to fix a problem they caused. Avoid this company at all costs. Absolutely horrible service and zero accountability. read more

Amazing service and quality from Phil and his team. We finally got central AC installed and a new furnace all in one day. His team was respectful, quick, and professional, too. Transparency is usually a quality many service professionals lack, but Phil was so clear and concise with his pricing, communicative about what work needed to be done, and how they were going to do it. I truly respected all these qualities in this company, and I would recommend them to anyone else who asks. read more

After reviewing the Yelp reviews and ratings, I purchased a new HVAC system with this company in September 2021. I paid to relocate the furnace to the attic and install a new AC unit in the backyard. Their service was amazing in the beginning. They were very pleasant and great at communicating via email. It only took about 3 days to install everything. Once I paid them, things took a turn because the HVAC system started having issues. I paid a large sum of money to a professional for everything including passing the inspection, but it did not happen the first time. It took some time for them to correct it as they were trying to put the responsibility onto me by having me contact PG&E to fix the pipes. This is their expertise. They eventually installed another pipe along the old pipe that connected the HVAC system to outside and it passed the second inspection. I had requested for a more updated thermostat that looked similar to an Ecobee prior to installation, but they forgot and installed the standard one. It wasn't a big deal and I wasn't charged for it so I decided to just keep it. Note: my tenants don't really use the HVAC in general so they didn't routinely check it if it was working until the temperature was too hot during the summer of 2022. That's when they noticed a problem: the AC wasn't working as the living room and some other rooms weren't getting cold at all. I called the company. They sent someone out and it turns out the transformer box was broken so they promptly fixed it. That was great! I was impressed at how fast they were. Even after that, my tenants rarely turned on the AC due to utility costs. In June 2024, the HVAC started to fail again. The warranty for labor was for 3 years (expire in September 2024). The warranty for the parts was for 10 years (expire in September 2031). That means I was still under warranty. I contacted the company of the company in June 2024 because there were still some more issues: - When AC is on, it takes an hour to cool down by 2 degrees. Only some rooms of the house are a little cooler. When heater is on, it takes an hour to get warmer by 1 degree. - Stuffing from tubing is completely exposed (see picture). It was exposed more than 3 months ago when my tenants last checked in March 2024. My tenant had mentioned it at least twice to the HVAC guy, but he only checked the box not the tubing. Per contract, everything was to be replaced. Was the tubing really replaced? Why would the tubing be exposed so quickly? If I'm still under warranty, then it should be fixed. - Lack of communication: during the four months of emailing and phone calls, the secretary told me that the boss will call me. The boss Phil responds via email in October 2024: "Forward her to customer service." No one followed up with me. I called the office again. Boss finally set up a meeting for December 2024 (6 months after I first contacted them about the issues). In October 2024, a staff member came to take a look at the issue and said everything looked great. Nothing was done. I double checked and the airflow wasn't the same in all of the rooms. Some rooms had strong airflow whereas some would have none. In December 2024, the boss came to check the vents and he had agreed that some of rooms weren't getting enough air flow. He sent his staff member over that same day, which was helpful. They said that something was dirty. They cleaned it and now everything is okay. They didn't do anything to the tubing, which is still exposed. They did change the dampers to improve the airflow to other rooms specifically the living room. The boss came over to check himself and agreed with his workers. I came to check two days later. While changing the dampers did fix the airflow to the living room, it stopped the flow in the Master bedroom and another bedroom. I emailed the boss again. No response. No phone call. It's been three months since then. Still no response. I gave up. Overall conclusion: Find another HVAC company. read more

I was in the Yelp market looking for an HVAC vendor who can install a new AC unit in my condo. I have a strict HOA and I was highly satisfied with Reliable's service, expertise and patience to get what I needed. Yolanda and Phil were excellent with communication as we worked via email to get the documents necessary to approve the work. The technicians who came to my condo to do the work were prompt and careful to meet the requirements and specifications such as not running the lines through the vents. Price wise, it was more affordable than 2 other bids I got and they gave me the most options and flexibility. The paperwork after install for the City inspection took the longest but that is on San Jose not Reliable. Yolanda kindly walked me through the process to make sure everything was approved by the inspector. I am beyond happy with the results. I got a great price in April before their peak season so highly recommend you keep that in mind! read more

I called and asked for a quote to replace my AC and furnace because I was very happy with the service on a previous problem. I recommended them to friends earlier and they too were happy. Yolanda immediately responded and Phil gave me a reasonable quote. I did not feel the need to negotiate the price. It only took some emails and phone calls to select the system. I was told that power would not be cut and heat would be working on the same day and if needed they would come back the next day to finish. As they said they came at 9am with the equipment and 3 people and Phil. One did the wiring for the thermostat and 4 temperature sensors, one replaced the outside AC unit and one replaced the old AC coils and furnace and that wiring by 1pm and took a well deserved lunch break. By 4pm the technician came to configure the system. By 5:30pm they left with a job well done. I immediately recommended them to 2 friends who needed similar work. This is how service should be. read more

Working with Phil (the sales rep/project mgr) and Reliable crew such as Al and Ernie was an amazing experience. They gave us all the options we could choose with prices clearly broken down and they were very competitive compared to other companies. Phil was showing up at the property during the process and making sure everything was going smoothly. They executed perfectly and finished the project as they promised. They had to come over again to fix something due to a misunderstanding and they didn't charge extra for this. They also changed the return vent covers without any extra charge. These people were god sent at a time when we were overwhelmed with the amount of updates we had to do. They were very cheerful and great to work with. There are only a few companies I would recommend as comfortable as I would for Reliable Air Mechanical. read more

Our thermostat died Friday night just as the temperature outside dropped to the 30s (Fahrenheit). We didn't know if it was the furnace or the thermostat itself so we contacted Reliable Air Mechanical via the "Request a Quote" option on Yelp with Melissa responding within minutes! Al from Reliable Air showed up the next morning (Saturday) and made the repairs, saving our family from really roughing it in the cold house. What was amazing was that Melissa found a way to dispatch someone to help even though it was on the weekend. Melissa, you are a lifesaver! And I have to say that Al was amazing! He took extra time during the service visit to explain the ins and outs of the furnace, filters, modifications, and future strategies if ours ever dies. Al shared a wealth of knowledge from his 30+ years of experience and it was greatly appreciated. I would definitely call on them again if needed. Thanks, Melissa and Al! read more

I had a somewhat antique furnace and no air conditioning. Felt it was time to finally upgrade. I got a few estimates from some of the top hits on Yelp in my area. Phil Dore and his team at Reliable were exceptional and prices were competitive. Phil stood out with how much he presented options and explained them thoroughly. He answered all follow-up questions just as thoroughly via email. Even though I had to wait some months until tax returns, when I contacted them back to commit, Phil remembered me and my house. The guys were pros. Did it all in a day. Tarp over floors, took care of the old furnace, handled all the permit set up and that was achieved with no prob on a following day. I've given both heat and cool test runs and I am more than pleased. For once I'm not dreading the occasional summer heat waves! read more

Phil and his team did a great job installing my new furnace/ac system in my home. The best part of my experience was working with Phil. He did not try to upsell me on anything and offered solutions. I had a 20 year old hvac system Gibson brand that was slowly starting to give up. Replaced it with new bryant furnace and ac - 2 stage to help with my pge bill and lower cost. Phil even gave a great quote regarding changing my ductwork but once he checked.. he said my ductwork was in great condition. Once this heatwave is over Phil and I discussed adding dampers to my existing ductwork to balance the air better throughout my home. Now I know which are the hot spots and cold spots so will have the team come over and add the dampers. Overall super happy with my experience with Phil and his team. It's finally time to replace our ancient HVAC. I got 5 contractors come over, but only 4 sent me an estimate. Reliable Air Mechanical was the least expensive. When Al gave me a verbal bid after looking at our house and speaking with Phil, I thought they had made a mistake with the numbers LOL. Their price is much lower than a comparable bid (both Bryant brand). BTW, the Costco contractor's bid was the highest despite all their "rebates"; even with the Lennox brand I don't think such a high price was justified. Rick and Brannon arrived on time. They were efficient, professional and knew what they're doing. I will definitely recommend Reliable Air. My old AC freon leaked 9 month ago and the furnace was about 33 years but still working. Phil came by the same day of my call and took a quick look. A very straight forward guy and not much upselling. Got the quotes (heat pump and dual fuels options) and it was the most reasonable compared to some of the other quotes. Decided immediately and his guys (3 people) came out next working day removing old and installing the new system. It was a big job - install nest programmable thermostat, a new 80% efficient 2 stage furnace Bryant brand ( manufactured by Carrier ) model # 821TB66110V21 and a new Bryant 19 SEER 5 TON slim line heat pump model # 38MURAQ60AA3 with evaporator coil. All for $3,000 less than the cheapest quote I got, there were others quoting as high as $20,000. They also relocated the outside AC unit to a better location for the slim HEAT PUMP, installed and Haul Away the old Furnace and AC. Since it is a dual fuel and some heat pump needed parts were missing from the manufacturer, they were able to quickly get the parts and have an experience tech came back the next day and completed the job. I am now enjoying my new unit and I highly recommend them - reliability, responsive and honest business outfit. read more

Very honest company which is hard to find with AC and heat repair. They are the only ones who have never make me feel bad after they leave because they think I'm stupid and will fall for their sales pitch and overly complicated reason why something isn't working (I do my research ahead of time, so I'm not totally ignorant!). This is a late post. They replaced a very old wall heater with a complete HVAC system. Phil gave me the best quote which included an upgrade from 14 seer to 16 seer AC and 2 stage, instead of 1 stage, heater. They were promising 3 days but then they finished in 4. But probably because my old house is full of plaster wall, not regular drywall. I had to remind them about some remaining pipes etc they had to clean after the job. And, I wished I remembered to ask them to install a smart thermostat instead of the regular old-looking one. But fast forward few months after, I finally moved in the house. The AC is terrrific! My previous place had an AC which always made the place very cold, blowing very vold air, then shut off to warm the place to be warmer than I set, then repeat. Anyways this AC that Phil set makes the place just nice. Very awesome especially during this hot summertime. I haven't tried the heater. I hope it's just as nice. read more

Two for two. We have used Reliable Air Mechanical for the last two major HVAC projects - in two different locations. They came through with flying colors both times. The latest project included installing a ductless heat/air system in our small back cottage. We did our due diligence and got several quotes for it and Reliable Air Mechanical was factors less expensive in their bid than the others. It was to the point I got somewhat curious (suspicious?) and I asked Phil directly on why the delta was so large. Phil gave me us a straightforward answer - they were installing a system that would fit the space and not the over-the-top systems the other vendors were apparently bidding. Reliable Air Mechanical was true to their word. Manuel and his crew mate (sorry I didn't get your name!) were prompt, efficient, and highly professional. Phil even came out to make sure that the project was on-track as promised. Recently had a new AC system installed by Reliable Air. Two new furnaces and 2 new slim line Bryant units. My only issue was the time it took to receive a quote (a week versus 1-2 days for everyone else) but I still choose them because: 1) Very detailed walk-through provided by Al. He explained a lot to me that other companies did not and was very honest. 2) Not the lowest quote I received but one of the better value ones. I received another quote for Carrier units (same parent company) and non-slim line for 50% more. 3) Could get work done the earliest and fastest. They got this done in 1 day for me with 5 guys versus competitors saying 2-3 days 4) Great customer service. Answered my questions in a timely manner. On the job day, they showed up on time, covered up our new carpet and hardwood floors and stairs, split up into teams for downstairs and upstairs units and finished by 6pm. Very professional group. Phil, the owner, showed up in the morning to greet me. All in all, we are extremely satisfied and would highly recommend using Reliable Air. read more
