I was able to quickly get a same day appt. The service manager Aleks was very friendly and easy to schedule with. The price was fair to me, $150 + filter for filter replacement. I was having a difficult time finding someone to simply replace the filter. The AC is working great, so it's a simple project. Other companies claimed I'd need to do "all suggested work," which sounds like a potentially expensive agreement. Gary was my technician. He was on time and very helpful. He even ran to the hardware store to buy the replacement filter, after checking the current product #. Freon offers an easy payment link and the ability to see the approx arrival time for your tech. I appreciate these small details. I'd definitely recommend Freon! read more

I decided to use Freon Service for my 200A electrical panel upgrade after having a great experience with them for an HVAC replacement back in March 2026 (feel free to check out my previous review!). Dennis Sushko and Slava (Comfort Advisor) came to my house to walk the site, review the scope of work, and thoroughly address all of my concerns. Jessica in the permit department was fantastic with scheduling--she was incredibly proactive, kept me updated every step of the way, and even helped fill out the paperwork for local rebates. On installation day, Tony and Adam showed up right on time. Both were extremely professional. Because of tight space constraints on my wall, they had to work extra hours to complete the installation in a single day so I wouldn't be left without power overnight. They also did a spotless job cleaning up the workspace before leaving. I strongly recommend Freon Service to anyone looking for HVAC work or an electrical panel upgrade! read more

My Toshiba Carrier VRF heat pump was low on refrigerant from a leak. I got several quotes, and Freon Service was by far the most reasonable. Kostas fixed it properly. The written scope covered everything you'd want: leak detection, repair, a nitrogen pressure test, a deep vacuum verified with a micron gauge, charging by weight to Toshiba's specs, and a full test in both cooling and heating modes. No upselling VRF systems aren't standard split systems, and Kostas clearly knew this equipment. The repair also comes with a 1-year parts and labor warranty If you have a heat pump or VRF system in the Bay Area, I highly recommend Kostas and Freon Service read more

Updated: Their manager issued me a refund for the ignitor change and apologized for the inconvenience. Our furnace stopped working the first time we turned it on after the long summer. The technician came and said he could try replace the ignitor or the control board since he was not able to diagnose. Then he changed the ignitor and seems that everything works. But after he left, the furnace stopped working again. The technician came back another day and told us he had to change the control board. And the change for that is $800, though he can give us a discount of $250 since he already charged us $250 to change the ignitor before. We asked him to explain why it worked when he was here but failed after he left. He can not provide any explanation, all he can tell us is that everything looks good, the only thing he can do is to change the control board. Actually we don't want to trust him any more since his explanation is weak, and $800 is too high. Plus it seems that we wasted the $250 to change the ignitor since the ignitor is not the root cause. We finally choose another company to fix our furnace. Of course with lower price than $550. read more

These guys are great people. Honest, reliable and trustworthy. He came to my house and then asked me if I checked the circuit breaker. Unknowingly I forgot to check it and when I checked it, it was just a circuit breaker. They didn't charge me for that. Awesome . I'd hire them again. read more

Had a fantastic experience working with Freon to install an ERV system in my house. They showed exemplary professionalism throughout the project: adhering strictly to specs, executing rapidly, and keeping the worksite literally spotless. They were exceptionally patient with my specific engineering requirements, elegantly solved several challenging wiring situations, and leveraged their deep HVAC knowledge and experience to help me make several complex design decisions. Responsive and willing to work through issues we had with flickering lights after heat pump install.

Left the same review on Google but thought I'd cover my bases for others looking for an AC repair company. AC was making scary noises during the heat wave. Searched for ac repair companies online at 3am. Sent a message to FREON for service. Received a response from Aleks IMMEDIATELY. I thought they were computer generated text messages, but saw a typo and a following message with the correction! AC was making scary noises during the heat wave. Searched for ac repair companies online at 3am. Sent a message to FREON for service. Received a response from Aleks immediately and had my appointment scheduled for the following afternoon. Technician Gary replaced the capacitor and contactor and was done in 35 minutes! Satisfied with the speed of booking and repairing my ac unit! I've never booked a service appointment at 3am while in bed! By 320am, had my appointment scheduled for the following afternoon at 2pm. Technician, Gary, arrived at 1:55pm and replaced the capacitor and contactor and was done in 35 minutes! Price was reasonable (according to Google) and I even left a tip since I considered this an emergency appointment. Satisfied with the speed of booking and repairing my ac unit! read more

AC works great. The problem was identified and fixed the same day. Fast and efficient and only took a few hours.

I sent them a request for a quote online, but instead of giving me even a basic estimate, they insisted on coming to my house first. I found that really inconvenient and honestly a bit suspicious. What made it worse is that the technician never even showed up. No call, no update, nothing. I was left waiting without any idea of what was going on. Based on my experience, the communication and professionalism just weren't there. I didn't feel like they valued my time, so I won't be using their services. read more

Thank you Freon, specifically John and Sherif for your amazing job with replacing our HVAC system. We did ac, heater, and replaced all of our old ducts. Thank goodness we did it because the old ducts were disgusting! John and Sherif were very good. I love th attention to detail, and how clean they were. They respected our home and kept things as tidy as they could. Can't wait to use this new system this winter! Thanks again John and Sherif read more

Called the company after our HVAC unit stopped working. Ali (technician) came to diagnose the problem. Part was ordered and installed. We have heat! Great experience, knowledgeable and professional technician and good value. read more

I have "interviewed" four other companies for this job, with estimates as high as 4,000. When Ali from Freon Service -they were the fifth- came over, he diagnosed a faulty pressure switch, swapped with a new one and left the house after an hour. Since then, the system works. I am posting this two weeks after the repairs. Total bill, including the diagnostics, $300. Before Ali's visit, the furnace would stop working non-deterministically, usually when we needed it most, then it would start again in a few hours. That happened once or twice a day. For reference, other diagnostics were: * Inducer motor * Blower motor * System board * Condensate collector That shows you how much "science" goes into this trade. Or maybe it's simply "information asymmetry" at its best. Good thing the competition is also healthy. read more

I had old duct work (with asbestos tape), and wanted to get those replaced. Slava (from Freon) came out the same day to take a look, and gave me an estimate. We had to work with a different company for asbestos removal. Slava and his team were able to co-ordinate that ASAP. We also had a tricky situation where the old furnace had to be removed to get rid of old plenum (which was out of scope). Even though it turned out to be more expensive than the original plan, they were able to get me a new furnace, and their team (Damon, and Mike) was very professional, didn't take any short cuts, and I was impressed by their quality of work. Slava was also very understanding of my situation, and was instrumental in making sure I got the best value of money, and coordinating everything at lightning speed. read more

Replace my old gas furnace with a heat pump downstairs and installed a complete new heat pump system with ductwork in the attic upstairs. Installed new furnace. Responsive to questions and updates. Reasonable price. Helpful and understanding responses.

Great quality for reasonable price. I only needed to replace the leaking coil, but it was difficult to find a contractor who can do just that. Most were up selling replacing the AC as well, or even claiming that my coil is too old and cannot be replaced. Freon service did the work cleanly and nicely. read more

If you're skimming reviews, Freon Service is a great residential heating contractor. Background--Last year (2023), I noticed that my central air conditioning system blew semi-cool air and ran most of the day. Then, the system just shut down. Not aware of Freon Service, I arranged for another AC repair service to see how to get my AC working again. The capacitor had gone bad in the almost two-decade-old outside condenser unit, and the technician was able to source a hard-to-find replacement. While the tech was replacing the capacitor, I mentioned that the air from our system wasn't that cool. He connected his equipment and indicated the system was down two or three pounds of Freon. While his AC service company no longer carried Freon, he recommended we try to find another AC repair company in San Jose that still carried Freon for repairs. He indicated it would cost $400-500 per pound. Being we were in September, we decided to wait until the summer of 2024 to do something about it. In late spring 2024, we began having pretty warm days. I found Freon Service on Yelp, liked the numerous positive reviews, and decided to call them to inquire about getting some Freon pumped into our system. They did have it, and they dispatched a tech the same day. The friendly Freon Service tech found that our Freon situation was much worse than just being down two to three pounds. It didn't have any Freon. If we had arranged for the system to be refilled last year, we likely would have wasted over $1,000. The Freon Service tech diagnosed that the leak originated at the evaporator coil in the attic. The contractor who initially installed the attic unit didn't get things quite right. The drainage system's level was off, causing water to pool next to the evaporator coil, which caused it to rust over time. That led to the Freon leak. The friendly Chief Comfort Advisor at Freon Service, Dennis, gave us a fair price. So, I decided to move forward. They even tossed in a cool new Nest thermostat for free. From the initial contact to diagnosis to repairs to wrapping things up, Freon Service did an excellent job with quality equipment at a fair price. And they were very careful to protect carpets and areas around attic access from getting dirty. They are now my go-to residential heating and cooling service. I highly recommend Freon Service. read more

2 year old A/C wasn't cooling. Called a DIFFERENT company and they sent their tech promptly. He figured out the issue and said a part was needed to be replaced. They'd have to order it and it cost over $1000-. I called the next day to speak to the tech and get more detail on why a fairly new A/C would need an expensive part this soon. Their rep said that the tech would call me back. I didn't hear from that tech and called FREON SERVICE for a second opinion. FREON came out and fixed the problem for $59- Not sure if the other company (with 4.8 stars on yelp) is incompetent or was trying to rip me off .... A/c is fixed and works like new without needing a new part. THANK YOU, FREON!! Honest, prompt and hardworking folks! read more
