Steak was cooked perfectly. My daughter loved the chicken teriyaki. This place isn't fancy just real and good. Old world charm and the food is grilled inside the restaurant on a wood fired Mesquite wood grill.

Dunston's is a true OG steakhouse gem. Service is quick, friendly, and the food hits the mark. Tucked into a small strip center off Lovers Lane, Dunston's has been serving great steaks for decades. Their mesquite grill sits right in the dining room, so you can watch each steak get individual attention. Most modern steakhouses have moved to gas grills, so having a steak cooked over real wood is both unique and incredibly flavorful. You don't see salad bars much anymore, but theirs is loaded, ice-cold, and stocked with fresh greens, toppings, dressings, and all the extras. The atmosphere is classic steakhouse. The original Sinatra era leather-backed booths and tables give it charm, but the overall décor, like the wall paneling, carpet, and well-worn furniture, definitely shows its age. Cost for an 8oz steak, potato, salad, bread, and beverage was $33, which is very reasonable. If you're in the mood for a traditional, wood-fired steakhouse experience, Dunston's is absolutely worth the stop.

First time here. It's an old school steak house. They grill over mesquite and it smells so good! Our server was very nice, funny and helpful! I got the 6oz bacon wrapped filet for &19.99. You can get a potato, onion rings or fries with a salad or choose 3 sides. I went with sides- au gratin potatoes, green beans and salad. The potatoes weren't great, kinda like cubed potatoes in velveeta cheese. The green beans had great flavor and the vinaigrette on the salad was really good. The steak was medium rare as requested. It came with rolls, which were fine. We also shared fried mushrooms (called mushroom poppers). They were typical. Overall the steak was the star, nice cut, cooked properly and at a great price! The menu is extensive, I'd go back and try other things!

We visited last Sunday bc we went to harry Hines location and it was closed so we drove to this one and waited outside for them to open at 4 pm and there was a line already. They opened the door a few minutes past 4 but it was okay. They sat us down quickly and our waiter was the best! He was really good and attentive, we had kids and someone that was in a wheelchair and that didn't make them provide service any less than normal. 5-stars! I don't know if it was bc I hadn't eaten but the salad bar!!! Love!!!! It was soooo good, fresh and clean. I definitely want to go back for this! Everything we ordered was served hot, as ordered and perfect! Definitely recommend this location. Prices are higher than what you would pay at TX Roadhouse but your not waiting hours to sit down either and it's roomy for a bigger party too - major factor why we decided to go here instead

I love this place. However, our visit tonight was substandard. The Prime rib was very tough. Not a good cut of meat.

A nostalgic experience. Loved this 1950's institution. Our service was great. Chopped sirloin was yummy and prime rib excellent.

Tonight my server, Ary, was very warm, attentive, and knew the menu very well, and offered me excellent recommendations. The happy hour Caesar salad was really great, I think the croutons were made from ciabatta, I couldn't really tell, but they were so delicious. Then I had the chicken Parm and the butterscotch cake, both her recommendations. And I can't believe it is so much food for the amount I paid, I'm going to have some amazing leftovers later. I will definitely be returning, I've had the pizza before, and it is one of the best ever, and I keep hearing about the chicken pot pie, but I haven't tried it yet.

Even so, our waitress was gracious enough to let me sample the mashed potatoes, and they were absolutely delicious. The ambiance was warm, inviting, and impeccably maintained, making for a very enjoyable dining experience. Overall, I had a great visit and look forward to returning soon to try the pizza.

Features a compact bar with only 2 screens, which again is preferential versus something loaded to the gills with cheap TCL displays. Menu is simple and direct, with all of what you might expect from an upscale neighborhood bar & grill. The tuna tartare is excellent, but it's more of a dip almost than a traditional imagining. It has jalapeno, heaps of cilantro, and muddled avocado to tie it all together. Very fresh and pleasant. Pastrami sliders were also tasty, but I would venture to say they are a little too bready for an appetizer, but nicely done otherwise. My go to entree is of course either the hanger steak or filet with fries and semi traditional bistro sauce, can't go wrong there. I have only seen 2 deserts on the menu, but there might be some special appearances from time to time. The do not miss item there is the Basque cheesecake. Which is basically a cheese forwards cheesecake without a crust, and somewhat reduced sugar content versus it's American cousins. Very good, and served with a berry coulis. The only trespass I experienced was with the wine list. It's overall somewhat expensive for what's listed, and on my last visit two bottles I had ordered were out of stock. That being said there are good picks here from Premier Cru Chablis to Faust Cabernet Sauvignon.

I sampled a few bites from everyone's plates, including the Pepperoni & Italian Sausage Pizza, Fried Chicken (buttermilk biscuit, smashed potatoes, and Brussels sprouts), and the Crunchy Chicken Tacos (queso Oaxaca, refried black beans, roasted corn slaw, and salsa borracha). Everything I tried had great flavor and was well prepared. I also tried the Spicy Rigatoni with chicken sausage, roasted mushrooms, spinach, Calabrian panna, and pecorino breadcrumbs. I customized mine by swapping the chicken sausage for blackened chicken and removing the mushrooms, and it was delicious! Several people in our group ordered the Beer Battered Fish & Chips with coleslaw and tartar sauce, and they all raved about it. Overall, Culinary Dropout was a great choice for a birthday celebration good food, a fun atmosphere, and plenty of options for everyone at the table. My only takeaway would be that I'd love to see a few more menu options added, but the dishes we tried were enjoyable and the experience was definitely a good one.
