    CHICKEN FRIED STEAK DINNER
    Bryana S.

Service was decent and the ambiance was casual and comfortable, but the food really fell short for us. We had the chicken fried steak with sweet potato. The sweet potato was actually good, but the chicken fried steak itself was incredibly bland, not crispy at all, and the gravy was watery and flavorless. We also ordered the smothered chop steak well done, but it first came out very pink, which was disappointing. They did remake it and the second one was cooked properly, but the portion was surprisingly small and still lacked any real flavor or depth. I wasn't expecting a showstopper, but for food marketed as "home cooking," it just felt flat and mediocre overall. The experience wasn't terrible, just disappointing considering what we were hoping for.

Great experience. We came for the brunch on lovely weekend. The location is in Deep Ellum area and offers dedicated parking which is a rare find around here. 2 adults and 1 child for buffet. Wife went with mimosa bar but this was a mistake as she only received 1. The waiter has to bring you the champagne. If you opt into this make sure to flag your waiter down and get a refill as soon and often as possible to justify the added charge. The buffet line starts out carb heavy but towards the end of the line is the delicious steak. You also have option for a custom omelet. Next time I go I'll stick with a few omelets and focus on the steak.

My fiancé and I came here on Valentine's Day and the restaurant was pretty busy. We had a reservation and had to wait just a couple of minutes after in order to be seated. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and personable (I wish I remember her name because she did such a good job). She recommended the avocado margarita which I was skeptical about but it was fantastic! The pork chop was incredible and the fajitas were top notch as well! We both love bread pudding and this one was fantastic! Definitely would recommend and want to come back!

I LOVE Sunday Brunch!! The food was great, the atmosphere was nice, and the service was great also. I would come back here every Sunday for the Salmon,Grilled Chicken, and Mimosa Bar!

Great vibe and great lunch at the bar chatting with bartender Devon. The Culpepper Chicken was indeed "tender and juicy" while the side green beans were surprisingly tasty. Quick. efficient and a great meal.

SEARED SALMON ENTREE with sweet potato and Mac and cheese

The ambiance in this location was very comfortable and good for groups. I really enjoyed the decor ! The food was okay. I ordered a seared salmon with a sweet potato and Mac and cheese. My mom ordered an 8 oz sirloin medium well with a baked potato and Mac n cheese. Our server was great ! He was funny and respectful. It 45minutes for us to get our food but we had a big party so i chalked it up to that at first, but it was strange to me that i received my salmon and sweet potato before my Mac n cheese. It took 15 minutes at least before i received it, then 10 more minutes before i received my glass drink. My mom had to send her order back because they gave her a medium steak instead of medium well and her drink was way too strong, and our server was kind enough to have her entire meal redone. The manager gave her a side for the inconvenience and removed the drink from her bill. Overall, their service was slow but their recovery made up for the inconvenience. As for the food, the Salmon was PHENOMENAL!!! It was sooo good, I'd definitely order it again. The sweet potato was not good , but my mom said the baked potato was delicious! The Mac and cheese was okay, it tastes mild, nothing really to write home about but my family loved the spinach dip !

I was really looking forward to trying this place, but honestly...it just wasn't all that. I've been on the hunt for a truly amazing steakhouse burger, and sadly this wasn't the one. It looked great, but the patty was bland, literally just a slab of meat, and the only real taste came from the bacon I added on. Solid 3/5 at best. Fries: If you like shoestring fries, you'll probably enjoy these. Crispy, light, not much actual potato going on. Not bad. Culpepper Queso (Cadillac Style): Too thick for my liking and got cold fast. Just didn't impress. 2/5. Cowboy Cigars: Actually pretty good. A little mushy inside, but flavorful with the chicken tinga. 4/5 Cocktails: Decent but weaker than expected for the price. My friend's Old Fashioned was $30 (wild). My Purple Passion was refreshing but didn't feel like a $14 drink. 3/5. The Avo-Suave was really good and on the sweeter side -- 4/5. The Cucumber Kick was solid too: cool cucumber + spicy Ancho Reyes Verde. Our server was genuinely friendly and the service overall was good. The restaurant itself is cute, the whole vibe reminded me of an old nostalgic train station. Best Part? The complimentary homemade flour tortillas. :) Delicious!

I actually really enjoyed this place! It was packed on Sunday for their brunch, but the staff handled everyone really well. I love that they have their own parking lot that is so helpful and not common in Dallas chile. I had the steakhouse burger and it was very juicy and tender! The fries are shoestring so if it's your thing go ahead and get it ! The people at my table that chose to do the buffet really enjoyed the food and thought the options were great! My drink was okay, not memorable so that's why I knocked it down a star. However, other people enjoyed their drink! I would come back for sure, super cute inside and give an upscale casual vibe !

We went on New Year's, so it was a slower day, which was actually nice. The food came out pretty fast, and our server was excellent--attentive, friendly, and really made the experience better. The vibe was nice. As for the food, it was mostly basic, with a few highlights. The queso was good, and the fried green tomatoes were alright--nothing bad, just nothing memorable. The calamari had great breading, but unfortunately the texture was a bit rubbery. I also ordered a watermelon drink, but it didn't really taste like watermelon, which was disappointing. On the positive side, the cheesecake was good, and the Cuban cigars were solid and definitely one of the better parts of the meal. Overall, dinner didn't fully win me over, but I'm still interested in giving this place another shot--specifically for brunch, which I think might be more their strength. Probably wouldn't come back for dinner, but I'm open to trying them again earlier in the day.

I cannot speak enough to the level of love I have for this place. Everything from the aesthetic, vibe, service, and food is all above par. When you enter, you're always welcomed with a small and you can pick from car sitting or tables. Their menu has plenty of options to pick from and everyone should find something they will enjoy. On weekends they have a brunch buffet that is worth the price and their burgers always hit. Highly recommend checking them out.

Plenty of seating with a comfortable atmosphere

My son and Daughter-in-law tried the brunch in Rockwall so, we decided to try lunch in Dallas. Love the old building with a touch of (rustic) decor and comfortable feeling inside. Plenty of seating (with a patio area as well) and a bar area that I suspect is very popular in the evening. Everyone that waited on us was great! My daughter said she really liked the seasoning on the chicken (not dried out) and we both enjoyed the cowboy potatoes. The smash burger had good flavor but nothing that really jumped out. I have had better. I would like to return to try dinner and see what the evening vibe is like. I understand they are more known for the drinks. Parking is pay to play and looks like it could be tricky at night. (they do offer a valet service). Overall it's a solid 3 for Lunch (and brunch) Give them a try!

    $24 margarita
    Allison F.

    1. Dirty martinis and avocado margarita and espresso martini were wonderful. The $24 muchaco margarita was not worth the price at all. 2. We got the 24 oz porterhouse and it really didn't have flavor just a slab of butter on it, or would have been better with a flavored butter or some salt. Was really bland. 3. Service was great and place is very cool ambiance!

I got their off menu item of carne asada tacos. The meat was sooooo tender. They don't use flank steak they use a tenderloin and it just melts. The mushrooms were Devine. Glad I ordered the carne asada. The adult Mac and cheese was good but just good. Brussels sprouts were good (not the best I have had) but I think I was also just so full by this point. The asparagus is huge!!! Oh the best finisher ever- the peanut butter pie!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!! I'm not even a dessert girl and I couldn't stop eating it. Often times after it's all said & done, you wonder - was that worth it? Thankfully, that is NOT the experience I had at Haywire! I ate here on August 9th, 2025 and enjoyed everything about it. I was with a large party but would love to return for a more intimate experience. On this Saturday, my younger cousin was graduating from Parker University so I was in town for the weekend. At around 1pm, I was one of the first to arrive at the restaurant. Unfortunately the parking is a bit confusing. There was construction being done on the same street when I went but there's a parking garage for customers that's difficult to navigate AND the elevator that connects wasn't operating at the time which was an issue for many (but not me, I got a good spot & walked). My party hadn't all arrived yet so I took a gander. Upon entering the tall doors, the space breathes southwestern elegance: wooden structure, leather seating, separate dining areas with highlighted ranch-style art. The abundance of space gives it an open-concept feel. The lighting fixtures are modern, the space was dim but not too low, with an option to utilize the large windows also. I was quiet impressed at the overall presentation. When my party did arrive, I wanted to keep it simple so I ordered the Chicken Cobb Salad and a Hibiscus Haze with Vodka. The table shmoozed as we ate some of the appetizers: the Crab Dip & Green Tomatoes, both amazing. The food did take some time but, considering it was 10-12 of us, that's expected. The Hibiscus Haze was splendid: smooth & flavorful, a great concoction. Cobb salads are usually pretty thick but this one was HEARTY. It came in a large bowl stuffed with the all the toppings. The dressing it was tossed with was well balanced but could've used a tad bit more. With some pepper & a little ranch, I was set! I defeated the salad but it also left me stuffed to the gills. Satisfying meal that I would order again! There are tons of restaurants to dine at in Dallas & sometimes you never know which is worth your time. Despite the inconvenience of parking, I'd bet my bottom dollar that this is a good place to eat. Whether you want a fine dining experience, it's a special occasion or just want a good drink with a meal, Haywire has enough to satisfy all interests.

I called before deciding where to eat on a Sunday afternoon to confirm parking situations. Parking is not easy downtown so this played a huge factor in figuring where, out of the dozens of brunch places, to eat. Definitely a bit of a walk to get accommodated at the actual restaurant so valet seemed the most reasonably enticing for parking solutions. Well, I called and spoke with the lady at the front desk. I confirmed with this little girl FOUR TIMES IF 1. They had valet available today 2. If it was complimentary. Come to find out it was not complimentary. And $7 for parking just doesn't sit well with me when there are ample free options else where with satisfying beverage, meal, ambiance, and service. All of which, I DID NOT GET AT HAYWIRE. I come in and although I had a reservation that I was 10 minutes early for while noticing tables available, I was told by that same girl who lied to me about parking I needed to take a seat. Reassuring me that it would only take two minutes to be seated. 10 minutes later I see coupled and groups walking in and guess what? They were immediately sat. While I am waiting to be sat at one of the three clean tables I'm staring at. I finally tell my boyfriend I am about to eat at the bar and he goes to the hostess stand to inform them our frustration and guess what? We were sat immediately. I get seated and there are two standing fans placed next to my table that's blowing my hair all over the f*****g place. I had to tell them to turn them off. What? No AC in this place either?? We immediately ordered and got the elk tacos for an appetizer. The tacos are WAY too spicy and way too salty. Too spicy AND too salty?? They're a no for me. You literally can't taste anything because of both! I HATED these little tacos. Probably the worst I've ever had. Ever seen someone attempt to pinch a bit of salt to season and the entire top comes off?? These tacos. My boyfriend had the chicken fried steak. He loved it (loves spicy and seasonings because he's Cajun) but I tried it and it was over seasoned. Again? Couldn't taste what I was eating. The mashed potatoes were divine. Enjoyed those! And then the green beans were tasteless. Hahaha what a joke. I ordered the barbacoa chilaquiles and it was literally too spicy to eat. Inedible. My eyes teared up, my nose started running, and I couldn't taste anything after a couple bites of the spice. I was so f*****g over this place I just ate my boyfriend's mashed potatoes and we left. We left with a happy tummy, an awesome night full of smiles and laughter. Thanks y'all Elsie & Dr Johnson Thequeenofscalp The Floater Doctor

Once arriving you are welcomed to complimentary bubbly while you wait to be sat. Service here was great for how busy it was. Here is what we ordered - **Starters** Korean Fried Cauliflower: I was the only one that ate this and omg it was really good, it satisfied my cauliflower craving lol 10/10 Truffle Parmesan Frites: these were outstanding 100/10! The freshly grated Parmesan on top was chef's kiss. Tuna and Avocado Roll: this was fresh and paired nicely with the sauce. 10/10 **Entrees** I got the Joey Classic Steak (on accident lol) but I'm not disappointed. The steak was cooked perfectly. The "crispy mashed potatoes" were unexpected lol. They were more like mashed potato eggrolls/flautas, but tasted fine. Id give this plate a solid 8/10. My cousin ordered the New York strip and she had just about the same notes on her dish. 8/10 My other cousin ordered the Steak Ravioli Blanco, she cleared her plate so I'm going to assume that she really liked it lol. 10/10 Lastly our waitress brought out a complimentary dessert since we were celebrating my cousin's bachelorette weekend, this was such a nice gesture, I think it was cheesecake and the flavor was delicious so 10/10

We were told we had to place our entire order at once, and despite our reservation noting that we were celebrating a birthday, he never acknowledged it or even asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. When we mentioned it ourselves, he didn't respond at all. While returning from the restroom (which was also uncomfortably hot and stuffy), I spoke with the manager, Jason, about our experience and asked if we could switch servers. Thankfully, Vlad, who had been serving nearby tables, took over our table. He was a complete turnaround. Vlad was personable, energetic, attentive, and provided the level of hospitality we expected. He truly saved what he could of the experience. Our group spent over $750 on food and drinks. The appetizers and sides were excellent and easily the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the entrees didn't live up to the same standard. One steak was overcooked and had to be sent back. By the time the replacement arrived, everyone else had already finished eating. The Salmon Diane was also dry and overcooked. To end the night, while we were waiting for our checks to be processed, Jason came over and told us the next reservation had arrived and that we needed to leave. We explained that we were simply waiting to pay, yet no effort was made to speed up the process by collecting our payment or offering to run the checks. It felt rushed and incredibly inhospitable, especially after everything that had already gone wrong. The only reasons this review isn't one star are Vlad and the excellent appetizers and sides. We've dined at many high-end restaurants, and this was by far one of the most disappointing service experiences we've had, especially for a special celebration. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

We used to have night out with dinner but now we do lunch. We chose this restaurant based on the D magazine article about the best burgers in dallas. Goodwin's burger was rated one of the best and it lived up to their reputation. We had one burger medium rare and one burger medium well and we had one patty melt, along with salad and fries. All were cooked perfectly. Service was a 10 and the ambiance was a 10. Drinks were great and they had every bourbon we asked for. I would definitely return with my spouse to spoil her.

They added candles to the birthday cake that we brought in, which was very nice of them! Apps: Cheese Beignets and Zucchini Chips - both were tasty! The beignets were small and not too heavy. I enjoyed the herby sauce on the chips, but wished it was served on the side! Mains: English Pea & Potato Pierogi, Mac and Cheese, and Vegetable Pasta - they were very nice to make a vegetarian pasta dish for us, and it was delicious! The tomato sauce was flavorful. The Mac and Cheese was also perfectly cheesy and I enjoyed the garlic breadcrumbs. My favorite was the Pierogi -- savory potato's, sweet brown butter sauce, and fresh greens to balance it all out! Highly recommend!
