Service was decent and the ambiance was casual and comfortable, but the food really fell short for us. We had the chicken fried steak with sweet potato. The sweet potato was actually good, but the chicken fried steak itself was incredibly bland, not crispy at all, and the gravy was watery and flavorless. We also ordered the smothered chop steak well done, but it first came out very pink, which was disappointing. They did remake it and the second one was cooked properly, but the portion was surprisingly small and still lacked any real flavor or depth. I wasn't expecting a showstopper, but for food marketed as "home cooking," it just felt flat and mediocre overall. This was a business lunch for our unit administrator, 10 people. After being seated, we waited 10 minutes for water and the initial appearance of our server. The young man was not equipped to handle a party of 2, 10 was a disaster. There were long waits (10-15 mins) between visits from the waiter. Drinks to an additional 10 minutes to arrive, sodas come in cans with no offer for a refill. Orders were wrong in every regard, from the wrong items to steaks cooked way off from ordered preparedness. One steak had to be sent back two times because it was 'blue' after being ordered medium well. The manager finally took over and we never saw our server, other than working with other tables. Some entrees were pitifully small servings, not ordered from the lunch menu- but regular entrees. The lunch took 1.5 hours and another 15 minutes to get the car from mandatory valet. Cannot beat their happy hour, great cocktail prices and great appetizer deals as well. The fried green tomatoes are the best that I have had, thin sliced with the slight picked taste. 5.10.26 was our first visit. We heard good things about the Sunday buffet brunch and wanted to try. We had reservations for 11:30am- no problem. They seated us quickly, and this is where the problem occurred. They seated us at a round booth, and at first it seemed like it would work, but immediately my mom realized that this seating arrangement would be difficult. When our server, Zack came, who was FANTASTIC, understood our issue, he moved us to the table. Cozi, the African American/Nigerian hostess, saw us getting our good and she rudely told us we had to move and we couldn't switch tables. She told us to put our plates down and go back to the hostess table... ABSOLUTELY NOT. First, that is not how to handle a situation. The discussion should have been between the server and hostess, and not the customers. We almost left because of how rude Cozi was, but thankfully, the other hostess, Bianca was very nice and apologetic and she found us another table. Our server, Zack was also apologetic and he continued to provide great customer service. The food was solid. Our favorites were the waffles, french toast, omelet, steak and hashbrown casserole. We would definitely visit again for dinner, but to management, Cozi needs more training on customer service. read more

It looked great, but the patty was bland, literally just a slab of meat, and the only real taste came from the bacon I added on. Solid 3/5 at best. Fries: If you like shoestring fries, you'll probably enjoy these. Crispy, light, not much actual potato going on. Not bad. Culpepper Queso (Cadillac Style): Too thick for my liking and got cold fast. Just didn't impress. 2/5. Cowboy Cigars: Actually pretty good. A little mushy inside, but flavorful with the chicken tinga. 4/5 Cocktails: Decent but weaker than expected for the price. My friend's Old Fashioned was $30 (wild). My Purple Passion was refreshing but didn't feel like a $14 drink. 3/5. The Avo-Suave was really good and on the sweeter side -- 4/5. The Cucumber Kick was solid too: cool cucumber + spicy Ancho Reyes Verde. Our server was genuinely friendly and the service overall was good. We went on New Year's, so it was a slower day, which was actually nice. The food came out pretty fast, and our server was excellent--attentive, friendly, and really made the experience better. The vibe was nice. As for the food, it was mostly basic, with a few highlights. The queso was good, and the fried green tomatoes were alright--nothing bad, just nothing memorable. The calamari had great breading, but unfortunately the texture was a bit rubbery. I also ordered a watermelon drink, but it didn't really taste like watermelon, which was disappointing. On the positive side, the cheesecake was good, and the Cuban cigars were solid and definitely one of the better parts of the meal. Overall, dinner didn't fully win me over, but I'm still interested in giving this place another shot--specifically for brunch, which I think might be more their strength. I actually really enjoyed this place! It was packed on Sunday for their brunch, but the staff handled everyone really well. I love that they have their own parking lot that is so helpful and not common in Dallas chile. I had the steakhouse burger and it was very juicy and tender! The fries are shoestring so if it's your thing go ahead and get it ! The people at my table that chose to do the buffet really enjoyed the food and thought the options were great! My son and Daughter-in-law tried the brunch in Rockwall so, we decided to try lunch in Dallas. Love the old building with a touch of (rustic) decor and comfortable feeling inside. Plenty of seating (with a patio area as well) and a bar area that I suspect is very popular in the evening. Everyone that waited on us was great! My daughter said she really liked the seasoning on the chicken (not dried out) and we both enjoyed the cowboy potatoes. The smash burger had good flavor but nothing that really jumped out. I cannot speak enough to the level of love I have for this place. Everything from the aesthetic, vibe, service, and food is all above par. When you enter, you're always welcomed with a small and you can pick from car sitting or tables. Their menu has plenty of options to pick from and everyone should find something they will enjoy. The proteins were cooked well, but the seasoning was where it falls off... They tasted... plain? The fajitas at Pappasitos has a distinctive sweetness from the pineapple and soy marinade. Apparently I've been driving past a hidden gem for years and just recently found this spot. This restaurant offers $10 chicken or steak fajita plates on Fridays and I'm always down to try a deal so I made my way here. When I walked in during lunch there was a nice little crowd but it wasn't crowded. There was also live music being played and sung by the front door (from what i was able to gather its rotating musicians). As I was by myself, I was seated in the bar area which was a little noisy from the music but it wasn't so loud I couldn't hear myself thinking. The bartender came over, asked about drinks and appetizer and I told her I was there for the fajitas and would start with a water while I would look over the menu just to see what the offered. My food came out pretty quickly and in that time I decided to order a fully dressed beer to wash down this meal with. Now, when my food came, I was a little tickled . . . The portion size was on the small side - yes, I understand, $10, lunch special, blah blah blah . . . However can I get more than a smear of beans and a half a spoon of rice? This is all that I ask for as everything else was on point. The fajita meat was cooked well, had good flavor and was tender. They gave me two tortillas, and all the sides (guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, cheese, pico) to make a great taco . . . I just needed a smidge more bean & rice. My boss and I decided to stop in for lunch while working inside the bottom floor of the gin building. The ambiance, service, and food were perfect for a quick lunch break. I first arranged a visit for 25 members of our staff, and every single person had something lovely to say -- from the quality of the food to the outstanding service. I then returned with my family, and it was just as exceptional. Our server, Kayla, during the staff visit, was fantastic, and Antonio, who looked after us on our family visit, was attentive, humble, and incredibly accommodating -- especially with my two toddlers, which made all the difference. A special mention as well to Zach, the manager, and Melissa, the assistant manager, who were both so welcoming, helpful, and genuinely attentive throughout. We tried a bit of everything -- the kids' menu, fajitas, and the steak -- and every dish was simply superb. If you're looking for a fine Tex-Mex restaurant with excellent food and truly warm service and a great ambiance, I couldn't recommend Culpepper more highly. Everything we had was great but what made our night was the service. Kayla was incredible, not only to us, but to every table around us. The space is large so you can go with a larger group. We sampled the fried green tomatoes and guacamole (which was freshly handmade and served chunky style). I went to Culpepper Cattle Company last night with a friend before a comedy show at Dallas Comedy House, and unfortunately, the experience did not live up to the prices or the reputation. We were seated inside at a small two-top that was actually a metal patio table covered with a tablecloth. It wobbled constantly and felt out of place for a steakhouse charging premium prices. After a few minutes, we asked to move to a booth, which was better, but I'm still puzzled why that original setup was even being used indoors. Our server was friendly but not very attentive. We had to remind him to bring cocktail napkins, and our drinks sat empty for about 20 minutes before he returned with our food. I ended up asking for iced tea because I was pretty thirsty by that point. I ordered the 6 oz filet medium, but it came out medium well and overcooked. For $38, I expect the steak to be cooked correctly. The Caesar salad was excellent, and the house margarita was tasty, but I had asked for no salt and it arrived with salt. Could I have asked for corrections? Sure. But sometimes you can tell when it's not going to change the overall experience, and this was one of those nights. Came here with my cousins and sister for dinner. Upon arrival the restaurant was busy. I was the first to get there so the waiter brought some waters. Once the rest of the party arrived, it took the waiter a long time before she came to check on the table again. When the waiter came to the table, she said something along the lines of "I don't know if you can see, but the restaurant is very busy" we were kind of taken aback by her statement. The manager came to speak to us and we got a new waiter her name was Nikki. She was great!! She advised on great things to order, got our drinks ordered. I will say we did enjoy all of our food. It did take a long time for it to get to us BUT it was kind of cold. The spinach dip was room temperature even though the person who brought it told us that the plate was hot (I never understood that logic.) My cousin had to re-order her crispy onion strings because it was cold. I was very hungry at this point and I did see that the restaurant was busy so I just ate my food. I also want to note that the manager gave my sister and I "extra" sides for our enchiladas. Had a really great time at this place. Saw that it had some great reviews. I liked the ambiance. It's very country western. They show westerns on the TV and play good country music. Started out with the calamari which the calamari was pretty normal, but the sauce was amazing that you dip it in. I highly recommend that. I had bean and cheese nachos which I really don't recommend but if you do get them, make sure to ask for them to be extra crispy. My husband had the fajitas and I tried the beef and oh my gosh that beef fajita meat was so good. So if you go and you want a good fajita get these. The flour tortillas are also made fresh in house. As for the dessert, I think that it sat too long after being heated up because the marshmallows you could tell we're supposed to be melted, but they were cold because it had sat too long before someone brought it to us, but it would be amazing if it was brought to us on time. Service was amazing. If we needed something, there were multiple people willing to get it for us and I'm sure they would have brought us a new dessert but we needed to get home.
