This place was great! The parking seemed weird at first, but one you get to the web page it was easy enough to get practically free parking. We sat at the bar and had excellent service. The bar tender was always busy, but that never got in the way of her offering assistance to us when we needed it. We opted for Togo food and were asked if we wanted to nosh on some fresh tortillas and butter while we waited. What Texan in their right mind would turn that down? So fresh and yummy. The food was superb. The beans were the most seasoned I've had in the city. Robust and absolutely delicious. The rice did not disappoint either. This tex mex is something special. The chicken fried steak was fine. A good standard, but nothing to drive out of your way for unlike the enchiladas. We really want to come back for the brunch buffet. About $30 and full of freshly made options. We were there closer to 3pm near the end of service and they were still putting out fresh food and maintaining it. Super rare to see that. LAST TIME GOING HERE!!! We waited 15 minutes at our table and no one came to bring water, say hello or to say we'll be with you shortly. The restaurant wasn't crowded at all. They salt the meat! Real cooks know that in order to get flavorful, juicy protein you have to salt the meat in advance. The pork chop tasted like it came from a real cook. The sweet potato was actually good, but the chicken fried steak itself was incredibly bland, not crispy at all, and the gravy was watery and flavorless. We also ordered the smothered chop steak well done, but it first came out very pink, which was disappointing. They did remake it and the second one was cooked properly, but the portion was surprisingly small and still lacked any real flavor or depth. I wasn't expecting a showstopper, but for food marketed as "home cooking," it just felt flat and mediocre overall. Wife went with mimosa bar but this was a mistake as she only received 1. The waiter has to bring you the champagne. If you opt into this make sure to flag your waiter down and get a refill as soon and often as possible to justify the added charge. The buffet line starts out carb heavy but towards the end of the line is the delicious steak. You also have option for a custom omelet. Came to this establishment for my birthday after work and I came with a couple of friends I booked my reservation on OpenTable, which they have a space that allows you to let them know what you're celebrating and I'll let it be known. I'm celebrating my birthday ordered my food pay for my food. I didn't complain about the food. I simply paid for my ticket but upon me leaving I pass someone who was coming towards our table and I said oh, I seen that the other ladies were celebrating a birthday as well so our question why did not get anything I was in return question why did I leave a tip? My question was never answered. I was again only question now again I didn't put up a fuss about my food, not being to my liking at all. I literally took a bite a bite a single bite out of my enchilada plate dinner which I later throughout in the parking lot because again it was trash, but I paid for it now tip that's if I choose to I'm not obligated to leave a tip to anyone that's a courtesy that me the customer I do if I choose to I'm not under any obligation to leave any tip whatsoever as long as I pay for what I placed an order for which I did so to get home and I paid for a ticket which was $49 and some change but to get home and look at my bank statement, which is now $59 and some change I'm totally confused so not only did you take a tip that I did not authorize and did not acknowledge my birthday at your establishment which you later try to come back and make an excuse for and say it was just an oversight on your part but how was it an oversight when again I watched you see two white women who celebrated a birthday and you brought out their birthday celebration cake but you just mysteriously had an oversight when it came to my table and again my reservation was for 12 o'clock. Your restaurant was not busy at all. You had a handful of customers in your establishment at 12 o'clock so there was no reason for an oversight you weren't busy and you were not too busy to come in question why I did not leave a tip but yet still, you were too busy to acknowledge my note that was left during booking my reservation. The ambiance in this location was very comfortable and good for groups. I really enjoyed the decor ! The food was okay. I ordered a seared salmon with a sweet potato and Mac and cheese. My mom ordered an 8 oz sirloin medium well with a baked potato and Mac n cheese. Our server was great ! He was funny and respectful. It 45minutes for us to get our food but we had a big party so i chalked it up to that at first, but it was strange to me that i received my salmon and sweet potato before my Mac n cheese. It took 15 minutes at least before i received it, then 10 more minutes before i received my glass drink. My mom had to send her order back because they gave her a medium steak instead of medium well and her drink was way too strong, and our server was kind enough to have her entire meal redone. The manager gave her a side for the inconvenience and removed the drink from her bill. Overall, their service was slow but their recovery made up for the inconvenience. The calamari had great breading, but unfortunately the texture was a bit rubbery. I also ordered a watermelon drink, but it didn't really taste like watermelon, which was disappointing. On the positive side, the cheesecake was good, and the Cuban cigars were solid and definitely one of the better parts of the meal. Overall, dinner didn't fully win me over, but I'm still interested in giving this place another shot--specifically for brunch, which I think might be more their strength. This was a business lunch for our unit administrator, 10 people. After being seated, we waited 10 minutes for water and the initial appearance of our server. The young man was not equipped to handle a party of 2, 10 was a disaster. There were long waits (10-15 mins) between visits from the waiter. Drinks to an additional 10 minutes to arrive, sodas come in cans with no offer for a refill. Orders were wrong in every regard, from the wrong items to steaks cooked way off from ordered preparedness. One steak had to be sent back two times because it was 'blue' after being ordered medium well. The manager finally took over and we never saw our server, other than working with other tables. Some entrees were pitifully small servings, not ordered from the lunch menu- but regular entrees. The lunch took 1.5 hours and another 15 minutes to get the car from mandatory valet. My son and Daughter-in-law tried the brunch in Rockwall so, we decided to try lunch in Dallas. Love the old building with a touch of (rustic) decor and comfortable feeling inside. Plenty of seating (with a patio area as well) and a bar area that I suspect is very popular in the evening. Everyone that waited on us was great! My daughter said she really liked the seasoning on the chicken (not dried out) and we both enjoyed the cowboy potatoes. The smash burger had good flavor but nothing that really jumped out. There was also live music being played and sung by the front door (from what i was able to gather its rotating musicians). As I was by myself, I was seated in the bar area which was a little noisy from the music but it wasn't so loud I couldn't hear myself thinking. The bartender came over, asked about drinks and appetizer and I told her I was there for the fajitas and would start with a water while I would look over the menu just to see what the offered. My food came out pretty quickly and in that time I decided to order a fully dressed beer to wash down this meal with. Now, when my food came, I was a little tickled . . . The portion size was on the small side - yes, I understand, $10, lunch special, blah blah blah . . . However can I get more than a smear of beans and a half a spoon of rice? This is all that I ask for as everything else was on point. The fajita meat was cooked well, had good flavor and was tender.
