Ordered 115 2x2's and blown away by how nice and helpful the person was taking my order over the phone, then how amazing Keenan was with loading into my truck. Communication was outstanding and asked me if I wanted to choose the pieces while he loaded. He was fast and proficient and fully considerate. I had to ask no questions. When we were about to run out, he had already moved a bunch of pallettes to get me access to new bundles. Awesome service and quality wood. These were among the cheaper non treated wood and I'd say 95+% were straight and limited sap and gouges. Very impressed. read more

I stopped by Dunn Lumber this afternoon. I'm an Artist and needed very particular things to make supports for canvases. I walked in and was helped by Kam, who showed me what my options were by price and even walked me out to the lumber yard to show me my choices. Once the order was in, I was introduced to a man in the back of the shop that showed me where my items were, (I regret I can't remember his name!) I picked through the lengths of 1" x 2"s, laying them out and trying to find the straightest ones. I got nothing but helpful patient comments from him. He cut the wood and loaded it in my car when it was done. As a woman in her early twenties, I've never been in a lumber yard or hardware place where I feel like I've been given any respect, and this was an entirely different story. Thank you Dunn Lumber! SUPERIOR CUSTOMER SERVICE So this is why I support local businesses. After my initial experience at Dunn Lumber and not having the lumber fit properly. The Store Manager actually personally responded to me, to remedy my situation. He not only replaced the pieces, but went out of his way to ensure that everything was absolutely impeccable. He even personally delivered the cut plywood to my apartment. This customer service was absolutely superior to anything that I have experienced anywhere else. I would highly recommend this store. I've always gone to the Lake Union branch, where I've never had any problems. I want to support Dunn Lumber, but can't recommend coming to the Greenlake for small, personal projects. This branch seems more focused on working with professionals, and didn't seem to care about my business. When I told the associate what I was looking for, I kind of got the: "sooo.... why are you here?" treatment. I'm not looking for a chaperone, just someone to tell me: "what you need is over there" without being condescending. Then when checking out, I was greeted with: "account number?", which I don't have, and then "slide your card.", without telling me what my total was. Maybe this branch is great for contractors and larger jobs, but I'd consider going elsewhere if you are looking for materials for a small project. read more

Great place to get all kinds of specialty wood. Great customer service and knowledgeable staff that make you feel you are taken care of. It helps to reasearch and also know what you will be using the material you will but before going so they can recommend you better material or so you dont get the wrong stuff. So my husband and I started the crazy roller coaster ride of doing an addition and renovation ourselves. Going through multiple bids including some from Oregon ,Dunn was able to match the lowest bids and beat all of the others. The reason we decided to go with Dunn in the end was their exceptional customer service. Colin, which I later learned was the manager at Dunn, has been beyond helpful. He and the rest of the staff there have held my hand during this whole renovation process, giving me options and choices and then helping me with decisions by giving me their expert opinions. I have always heard that home renovations are extremely stressful and can end marriages, but with the help of Dunn it has actually been quite painless. read more

I went in to Dunn about a year ago with a plan to build a fence. One of their reps looked over my plan, gave me some suggestions and pointers, and then put together an order for all the supplies I needed. I had them deliver all the supplies and when I was finished with my project they came back to pick up and return all the excess stuff at no extra charge. Fast forward a year later and I finally got around to staining the fence. I had ordered all the stain with the original purchase and it had just been sitting around in my garage. Well I go to use the stain and realize it is totally not the right stuff. Somehow I had ordered the wrong product and it was a special ordered product that they don't carry in the store so they couldn't just put it back on the shelf. But the manager Colin contacted the supplier and was able to get the return put through so I wasn't stuck with 10 gallons of stain I would never use. Great experience all around. read more

I bought 6 Milgard replacement windows from here for my old Craftsman house, the salesman was very helpful and nice to work with ... bring in a quote each for similar windows from Lowes and Home Depot, I think you'll find that Olson will beat those prices plus their delivery charge is a lot less. The windows look and work great, huge improvement, great investment ... they were able to give me exactly what I wanted, plus, the window hardware was waaay better than what those box stores were going to force me to take ... I had to go back to get some lumber for that same job, that salesman was good too. Keep up the good work guys. read more

I received great customer service today. The employee, who I believe was named Kam-Lau Johnson (based off the receipt), went above and beyond to serve me and make for a great experience. He was so patient as I debated which product I wanted to buy, and described each option for me (he was very knowledgable). He checked each board for me before I purchased it to make sure it wasn't skewed or bent, bundled them together for me and even carried them out to and placed them in my car for me. When I wasn't sure about the length or profile of the trim, which I intended to paint, he described how I could fill it and lay it properly to hide the seams. This guy knows what he's doing, and makes the shopping experience painless. He said I could return any board I didn't use, or even cut a portion of a board to an even-foot length to return to receive part of the money back (as it's charged per linear foot). Get him to help you if you can. This was after a terrible and inconclusive visit to Home Depot and Lowes, where there is nonexistent customer service. Dunn lumber is the best. read more
