Downtown Minneapolis

We were visiting Minneapolis to attend a concert and wanted to find a nearby breakfast spot. Hen…read moreHouse was a five minute walk from our hotel, so we gave it a try. The restaurant is quite large and super cute. We were greeted and seated right away. The walls have fun little things written in chalk and it is very bright and cheery inside. We received the menu and waited a bit before our order was taken. We did not need to wait long for our food to arrive. My daughter and I ordered the same thing with slight variations--Two Eggs, Potatoes, and Toast. I chose the Hen Potatoes which were amazing! Tender on the inside and slightly crisp on the outside--not greasy at all. My daughter had the hash browns, which were just as good--not greasy, but perfectly crisp and flavorful. The seven grain toast and jam were great and our scrambled eggs were cooked just how we like. My daughter also ordered a fruit cup, which was filled with a bigger variety of fruit than she expected and she loved it. I ordered a side of bacon and it was delicious. While the food wowed us, our service was just okay. She was polite enough, but did not check on us until we were well into our meal. Thankfully, we didn't need anything. Our check and my payment were dealt with promptly, which we appreciated. We also ordered a caramel roll to go and were very glad we did. Super tasty and not overly sweet. If you are in the area, stop in. You will not regret it. The prices are higher, but it is worth every penny. We will definitely be returning when we are in the area.

Looked so good!! Fresh orange juice is a huge bonus. What I am used to in Mexico and love!! Ordered simple egg, 2 meats and hash browns. Eggs looked fresh and tasted good. Bacon was thick but next time will ask for a bit crunchy. Hashbrowns were browned crispy. I had pancakes added for a small price as pancakes and french toast is a specialty they are known for. Light and tasty and they have "MN maple" which was delicious. I will come back again and try a Mexican breakfast burrito. I feel like that is going to be my go to. Counter service was excellent. Ambiance is local neighborhood vibe.

This was my first time trying Berry Sweet Kitchen and it was a great experience! When you first arrive, you immediately stand in line to order from the counter and they give you a number then you take a seat anywhere in the restaurant. I met here around 10 AM with two other people and the food was exceptional, I got a breakfast burrito and my other friends got the stuffed french toast, everything was so good. Very picturesque however I did not take any photos except for this complimentary small blueberry scone that we were given at the end of our meal. The staff was very friendly and they had a sizable menu, I will definitely be back!

The 4 of us came in for my sons birthday as this was a place he had requested for our annual event to celebrate him for his 26th Bday. Our server Mark was amazing, he was professional yet personable, he was funny and and knowledgable of the food and the drink. I am personally not a foodie, my son and my girlfriend are adventurous eaters and took full advantage of the S&S menu. My sons stated goal that night was to eat as many different rypes of seafood as possible, and he was ecstatic. My sons girlfriend was super pleased with the GF options! The NA Drink menu was excellent! The Bison TarTare, the Oysters, and the Red Oak Salad started us off wonderfully! The Spotted Bass, Spaghetti Nero, the Cappeletti, Creamy Spinach and Broccolini were fantastic. And they even indugled the food Heathen that I am by allowing me to get the Burger off the bar menu. The finishing touches of dessets and the Bday Cotton Candy for my son was awesome. Once again it was Mark and the rest of the staff that really made the night.

They say to take a seat outside (where they have several benches and your name will be called on the loud speaker. They were spot on with the time and did announce that our table was ready. The menu consists of breakfast and lunch. There are a great number of choices. Although they have markings to indicate that dishes are gluten free or vegetarian, beware. When offering drinks, I asked about the kind of teas they had. Too bad they don't even have an herbal tea on the list. I ordered the thick bacon and eggs. The bacon was really good. The eggs were perfect. However, I asked about replacing the potatoes with the fruit. Because of allergies, I asked what kind of fruit they serve. I expected a surcharge to change to fruit. I was not told that there would be an extra surcharge to leave out my allergy fruit and go with only one kind. This was bad on the part of the server. They only had two choices of bread and no choice of gluten free bread. That severely limits the choices of someone sensitive to gluten. My husband ordered the Harvest Scramble. Luckily, they were able to leave out the green peppers. Interesting that so many dishes had green peppers in them. He enjoyed the eggs, but ordered the fruit, instead of potatoes. He said he would like the fruit mixture which had melons, pineapple and one blackberry. He ordered the wheat toast which he said was not memorable. All in all, we enjoyed the experience with a number of flaws. They need to tighten up their menu and make sure that people with special nutritional needs are attended to carefully.
