These are some of the best donuts in the Chicagoland area! Their frosting is whipped and light, long johns are somewhat crispy and very soft inside . Some of the best and we'll worth the Saturday morning drive. Only one thing that bothers me is that the owner takes all the tips from the tip jar and doesn't share it with her employees. Very troubling I seen it happen. So if you do decide to leave a tip don't because it will go into the owners pockets. read more

Dunk Donuts, only Bosa is even close to their great flavor and quality. One of the few places where one can find true French Donuts that taste as good as those made in the 1950's. Their Apple and Cherry Turnovers are the best. The donuts are $7.50 a dozen which is a bargain and then some. It is on the south side of the street. Dunk Donuts.....this place will be the death of me I am sure!!! Odd hours sometimes....24 hours during the week and I havent quite figured out the weekend hours yet....but everytime I am in the city I take a little detour to Dunk Donuts. The donuts are to die for...my favorite...the blueberry... a little crunchy on the outside and melt in your mouth moist on the inside!! Other winners are the coconut cake and the buttermilk....omg! When I bring them home they still taste good two days later! I am ususally there late in the evening or at 2 am so I usually have the place to myself but I went there once in the morning and found it very busy with truck drivers and people going to the office. This place surprises you. walk inside and smell the donuts, fresh coffee, bacon. The donuts are fresh and tasty but not heavy. I'm definitely going back to try a sandwich and coffee. It's cash only, just so you all know. It's supposed to be 24 hours except Sunday, but I did go at 10:30pm on a Saturday and the place was closed. Great donuts! We've lived in Melrose for 14 Years & have always wanted to go in but never did until I mentioned it to my hubby. He went in 1 day & came home with a box of these delicious things. We had an assortment of donuts & muffins. Everything is yummy. Now he goes in so often they know him by name. They're always fresh & always open (but close early on Sunday). They even told him that if there is something specific he wants that he can call them & they will make it. Best donuts in the Chicago-Metro area. First time I tasted them was a few years ago via a co-worker. I could not remember the name nor the location of this donut shop. As I was searching for Aracely's Bakery (not for their bakery items, but for their tamales), I drove past Dunk Donut and decided to give them a try. To my pleasant surprise, they are the donuts I had tasted years ago. My wife recognized the packaging. Not a wide selection to choose from. They generally have ready to serve maple, chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and a few others. The crullers are a favorite as well. Their entire selection taste so good. I can never return to Dunkin Donuts since Dunk Donuts has raised the donut bar high. read more

Dunk Donuts is great hole-in-the wall local donut shop. The Apple Fritters are the BEST and HUGE for $2. Cake donuts are good but not quite the awesome Spunky Dunker level (ie, just below awesome...so really good). Yeast donuts are average, but there are a couple sprinkle options for the young sweethearts in your life. I also had a Pecan Roll, which was excellent. Great Prices. A friend has been raving about this place for awhile. He mistakenly kept referring to it as "Donk's Donuts," but I discovered otherwise (Dunk Donuts) when we arrived. I was a bit skittish about the neighborhood, as several groups of individuals were hanging around some of the nearby businesses. Once inside, I thought I was back in the 1960's. Because it was late in the evening (11:00 pm), the selection was scant, but still interesting. A young woman asked what we wanted, and both my friend and I were about to purchase a half-dozen. We were surprised when the woman said, "Just keep selecting more," as they "give away" several more donuts than the 1/2 dozen at this time of night. I think I ended up with 11 and my friend possibly got a dozen at the 1/2 dozen price. We both sat down at the breakfast counter and enjoyed watching a gentleman making the donuts! The machinery looked like it was out of the 1940's. A very old mixing and dispensing unit dropping the batter into the hot oil. It appeared he was flipping them with a pair of chopsticks, and preparing more and more as the time went by. He was an expert at the craft, as each donut came out just about perfectly. He picked up batch after batch with steel mesh trays, placing them on racks nearby. We enjoyed the view, and consuming a few donuts each while there. I don't know if I'd drive way out there again unless I was in the neighborhood which is doubtful. Before departing, I waiting while several "groups" of individuals that were congregating outside the shop finally left. They were looking at my car which didn't exactly fit in the neighborhood, so as I said, I'm a little leery about the neighborhood, and my visits, so this may have been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Would I recommend this place to others? Absolutely, but come in a group, and bring protection with you "just in case." read more

This place has been around for decades. My parents use to come here when they were kids. It's a staple in Melrose Park, anyone that has grown up in Melrose has come to this place at least once in their life. It has the freshest, most delicious donuts around. Once you eat here you'll never want to eat those crappy donuts at Dunkin' Donuts again. I have very fond memories of this place, my grandfather use to take me here when I was a little kid. It brings back so many great memories of him. It still looks exactly the same as it did years ago, that old school donut shop look. My favorite donuts to get are the Blueberry Cake, Chocolate Frosted Cake, Chocolate Long John and the Coffee Roll. I usually wait in the car while my husband runs in and gets 2 dozen.He stumbled on this place while stuck in traffic. Have been eating these donuts for nearly 14 years, ever since a co-worker brought them in. But since my job has moved to aurora, it's been a couple years since I've had one. Last weekend, I had a craving and brought my family in there for the first time and afterwards, my husband said "In the 20 years i've known you, this is the first time you're bringing me here?" He loved the whole experience. The quaint, nostalgic little shop, the friendly ladies behind the counter, the reasonable prices (though, cash only), the fresh hot coffee and hot chocolate, a variety of cold drinks in their coolers and of course the DONUTS! BEST chocolate frosted CAKE donuts ever! A friend of mine says the same thing about their regular yeast donuts, but cake donuts for me always! Years ago I remember receiving the bakers dozen(13) when ordering but this time around we received two extra donuts and a muffin! My Family loves this place! My husband & I went to Dunk Donuts for the first time on Saturday morning and were extremely pleased. We were immediately greeted by an employee who we told that this visit was our first time to Dunk. She suggested that we pull up a seat at the counter have some coffee and take our time ordering. My husband tried a chocolate cake donut and plain croissant and was quite pleased with his choices. The croissant was warm, light and flakey. I tried an apple fritter and absolutely loved it. It was perfectly filled with apple pieces and perfectly glazed. We were quite entertained with the pleasant conversation that we had with Wanda, Gaby and Chen. These ladies know how to treat their customers and are doing a wonderful job making donuts and delightful treats. We couldn't resist and took a pecan roll and cinnamon roll home for the next morning which were both incredibly delicious. Dunk Donuts is a true gem! read more
