Scrumptious! The apple slices are absolutely delicious. Apple pie in bottom , apple pie crust a with light frosting on top & pure deliciousness in the middle( apple filling). A good balance with the pie filling. Definitely can see that as a MEGA Hit over the holidays. The cinnamon rolls, so good. I use to stop in here on the way downtown, before I got onto the Blue line to work; back in early 2000's. I've been told countless times to visit this bakery, but never made it out to Oak Park until finally this past weekend. My First visit to this bakery was late on a Saturday (2pm, and they close at 4pm), and the fact that they had very little left over is a testament to how much they sell out early in the day. We purchased two Smiley Cookies, and wow was it so nice!! simple butter sugar cookie with frosting and a chocolate smile, but it was perfect with coffee! I always thought this bakery was just your run of the mill generic bakery where everything is made with shortening and doesn't have a lot of flavor. Not so. I started working at a school in Oak Park and people would bring their products in on Fridays. They use BUTTER!! Lots of it. Their coffee cake is to die for. I have tried all flavors of coffee cakes, their butter cookies and a regular cookie and it is all so good. I don't know anyone who makes a better coffee cake. You have to either go early or call and order because they sell out fast. If you go in the afternoon you might just be looking at nothing but crumbs. read more

I've been a fan of Oak Park Bakery for years. Their nut coffee cakes are some of my favorite. So, when I decided to get married in Oak Park, I knew where I'd be getting my wedding cake. The bakery is easy to work with and pricing extremely reasonable; the hardest part is getting through because they're always busy. I got some basic info a while ago, so I had already decided what I wanted. Since we were doing an intimate ceremony, I wasn't looking for something large or stereotypically considered a wedding cake. What I ordered was a 1/4 sheet cake - chocolate cake, fresh strawberry center and whipped cream frosting. I gave them basic decorating instructions - festive colored frosting flowers in opposing corners. I was quite happy with the appearance and taste of the cake. We both like old-fashioned, historic bakeries around town, Oak Park Bakery is located less than a block south of the CTA Oak Park Blue Line station. Please exit the train station through the Oak Park Ave. side. It's tiny place with some enticing cupcakes by the windows, along with cakes, cookies, donuts, and bread to make the entire bakery look like a heaven for sweet-toothed individuals! We went with the quarter (1/4) pound of assortment cookies. You can hand-pick the varieties, but the nice young lady saved us some work by choosing the popular kinds for us. We paid less than $3 for eight (8) pieces of cookies. They do have a minimum cap for using a debit or a credit card, which is $5. My recommendation is to have some cash on hand because I realized other items were reasonably-priced as well. There's a PNC bank ATM inside of the Oak Park Blue Line station if PNC is your primary bank or if you don't mind paying for the surcharge. We munched couple pieces; they were pretty delicious. Those cookies might not look fancy, but there were one of the most down-to-earth things you could find in this country. Food with unpretentious embellishment, you can say it's old-spirited Americana. I always enjoy visiting Oak Park, for her relative serenity and peacefulness the city of Chicago lacks on spring weekends. I bet I will be coming this way some time soon. read more

Ordered cake for a baby shower 2 days before the event, after I was told "no. We're all booked for the weekend" by their local competitor.
