    Italian sub
    David M.

Small family owned Italian bakery. They were very welcoming and friendly when I came it. They have a small but perfect menu to meet your needs there prices are very reasonable. I had an Italian sub for $5 and it was made fresh. The bread was fresh and had that perfect crunch. The meat was perfect, but I wish there was more flavor. They have a lot of different breads and homemade dishes for available also. Im looking forward to going back to my new found favorite spot in the neighborhood.

    Cheese kolache

Best cannoli I've ever had! Filled when you order them.. the absolute smoothest filling! Kolaches are supremely delicious!! highly recommend!

I drive by this bakery on my way to work sometimes and decided to stop by to try some of their offerings. I got a chicken foccacini(?), meatball foccacini, frozen eggplant parm, loaf of italian bread, chocolate cannoli, kolache and rainbow cookies. So the frozen eggplant parmesan was very good. It reheated nicely, was very flavorful and a nice sized portion. The bread was light and airy with a thin crisp crust. The freshly filled cannoli was good. The rainbow cookie was also good, but I could tell it was getting a little stale/dry. The foccacini was not great. There was a large piece of chicken breast in the chicken foccacini, not a bad thing. It was a good price and very filling. However, the meatball foccacini seemed too soft or underdone. Maybe I'm not used to their meatballs, but it was so soft that I thought it wasn't cooked thoroughly. I microwaved it to nuke it, but it still stayed that undercooked-like texture. Maybe too much filler? It was off putting. Also the kolache dough was also undercooked. The dough at the bottom was very thick and puddy-like. I will stay away from those in the future. I read so many good things about this bakery, so I'm willing to give other items a try. And the bakery owner was sooo friendly and sweet, I have to go back!

This was a great stop off my usual beating path. As I zipped by on Cermak the awning caught my eye. CANNOLIS.... Bread ect. But my attention was already won. You don't put Cannoli on the awning if you cant throw down in that arena. Instantly I risked my life on a U-ey to get back to the parking lot. Although they are off a bit from a neighborhood, that didn't diminish the feel Pina gave me that this place is about family and friends. I perused the shop while she finished up with what surly sounded like a regular. She filled my box with an assortment that suited the moment. They were all excellent and deserve praise. But this was a Cannoli run! The tap test: taking a fork and tapping the lightly bubbled shell. She sounded solid and full without an echo. The pistachio tap caused no failure of the nut positions. A++ The push: because the shell was fresh with perfect conformation I pressed into the mid area with the fork saddle..SNAP..CRACK. What a glorious sound. As i rested the fork I couldn't help the excitement I was feeling as that sweet smell of the crust and a puff of powdered sugar transcended to my sniffers. The smooth operator: you know that rhythmic cadence you get while riding the "L" du-dun du-dun; du-dun du-dun" over and over. That filling must have endured rhythms of a dozen Howard to 95 legs. I have not had smoother, the ratios were spot on and the opposition of crunch and sweet was endearing. Satisfaction: restaurants to me are about the people and the palate. Pina assured me that for my Italy trip I could not go wrong with the Amalfi Coast this summer. I can't wait to compare the Toscano/Ritacca masterpiece to the motherlands As an out of towner I will return! Enjoy LK

I'm really happy that places like this still exist because I believe it's it's still important to have small businesses, and I also think this is a way to have true authenticity in regards to how traditional Italian food should be made. Located in the western suburbs of Chicago, this is like stepping back in time when you walk through the doors. You are surrounded by so many delicious choices, it's hard just to pick one thing! Lots of traditional desserts, good deli options, and sandwiches don't go in here hungry! The owners which I suspect are husband and wife, are very helpful, and are willing to answer any questions you might have. On top of food, you can also pick out t-shirts, stickers or expresso sets. I recommend this place to anyone who grew up with old-school Italian food, or just want to try something new authentic and delicious

Best bakery for homemade sandwiches. A bang for your buck!! The owners are so friendly and it's family run. Get the Italian on French bread.

It was ok. Liked the old shop charm, yet did not care for the baked goods selection. We tried an assortment of cookies and a few cannoli.

We tried a range of flavors and my family liked what they tasted, but no one was that interested in running out again the following weekend to try them again, even driving by the location to remind them of the place we had visited. Silverland is the kind of place I like having near the highway so that I can pick up treats on the way to work or a social engagement if I've forgotten to make something at home. It's also a small shop with just a table or two off to the side, so I don't think it's a place I would stop to dine in. There's also parking nearby, assuming you are not on foot for a visit here!

The day started with a craving for something chocolate and this bakery seriously satisfied it! I bought the genache, double chocolate truffle, caramel and cheesecake. Each brownie brought about an amazing, unique flavor. Well, there goes my diet, lol. DELICIOUS! Customer service was also great. I told the nice gentleman who waited on me that this was my first time visiting and he gave me the history of the shop and the owner while neatly wrapping up my brownies. Definitely try these brownies.

You pick a waffle cone (vanilla/chocolate), an ice cream flavour (vanilla/chocolate/non-dairy coconut) and a fruit (strawberry, blueberry, plantain etc.). They blend the actual fresh fruit with the ice cream to produce an incredibly delectable, flavourful soft-serve. I got a vanilla waffle cone with chocolate ice cream blended with strawberries. It took maybe three or four minutes to serve because all of the blends are freshly made, and I had to wait in line for about twenty minutes, but the wait was worth it. It was nice to take the ice-cream cone and sit on a bench at the park nearby. The shop/window is attached to Courageous Cafe, but the operating hours are not the same as the cafe's, and one has to wait in line outside rather than indoors. The shop is about five minutes from the Oak Park Green Line CTA station. Highly, highly recommend this place to those visiting Oak Park! I might even make a trip all the way from the city for this ice-cream - it was that good!

Everything I've had so far has been spot‑on -- flaky, buttery, and made by people who clearly understand that "good enough" is not an acceptable standard for laminated dough. And then there are the cupcakes. The pink velvet and vanilla bean have basically derailed any attempt at exploring the rest of the menu. They're that good -- tender crumb, real flavor, none of that cloying sugar‑bomb nonsense. They even offer gluten‑free and vegan versions of some, which somehow manage to taste like actual cupcakes instead of punishment for dietary restrictions. There is a full breakfast menu, and it looks legitimately appealing... but I keep getting ambushed by the pastry case before I make it that far. One day I'll branch out. Today is not that day. If you're in Oak Park and want a bakery where the classics are done right and the cupcakes are dangerously habit‑forming, this is the one.
