Had lunch here. Staff was very friendly. Service was great. Mozzarella and tomatoes was delicious as well as the mushroom risotto, very flavorful. The chocolate mousse, dessert was for me the best part of the meal. Delicious...highly recommend! read more

Unbelievable food with unexpected flavor combinations! I consider myself a foodie, and this dining experience was DEFINITELY my favorite meal while visiting Nantucket. And the wait staff couldn't have been more professional without hovering. It was hard to leave without trying "just one more dish". Run-don't walk.... to Dune Restaurant! read more

YUM!!! Is all I can say. The atmosphere is very inviting. The service very attentive and the meal was unbelievable. they have a great varied menu and offer smaller plates which is so great! I had the Lobster & Chive Gnocchi, roasted shiitakes, mirepoix, leeks & white truffle upon the recommendation of the woman sweeping away the leaves while we were reviewing the menu to see if we wanted to eat there. She even took our name and number for a reservation even though they were closed. I love to cook and can usually deconstruct the food I am served in a restaurant...not this dish. It was so layered with so many flavors that married together beautifully. And the gnocchi! You know when they say they are supposed to be little pillow of air, but instead they are little lumps of cement? Not here, LITTLE PILLOW OF DIVINE AIR!! Thank you for a memorable meal and we will be back!! read more

Food was alright not too spectacular (except for fig cake and other desserts) and loud atmosphere. Is good for drinks and trendy ambience.

The dinner was decent, but not as flavorful as I would have liked. I think we had the lobster risotto and the soft shell crab chowder, both not bad, but not mind blowing for the price. However the fig cake with maple bacon icecream may have been the best dessert I've ever had. You haven't lived before you've tried it. Otherwise, the cocktails also weren't bad, and the wait staff was very attentive. read more

Fantastic. Great service and great pork loin, risotto and donut desert. Colleen was incredible service - she was awesome.

Based on the other reviews listed here, I was really disappointed in the quality of our meals. The trick to this restaurant's menu is to bathe the entree in spices or other flavors rather than bring out the flavor of the entree itself. The tuna, touted as the best thing on the menu, had been over soaked in water prior to cooking, and was devoid of its own flavor. The entree accompaniments were drowned in (albeit a very nice) Balsamic vinaigrette, and that became the overpowering flavor of the dish. The hanger steak likewise had a rub that significantly detracted from what should have been a flavorful cut of meat. Conversely, the gazpacho lacked flavor, easily drawn out by a bit of sea salt, and was bland. All in all, I found The Dune to be unremarkable to put it kindly. The service was excellent, the wine list decent, but the value poor based on the food quality. It appears I am in the minority on this, and I'm not suggesting the restaurant is bad, just nowhere near as good as others have suggested. read more

First time on ACK and this was our first restaurant. Service was awesome, food delicious and atmosphere on the patio was perfect.

Great service, great food. We walked right up without reservations. The specialty drinks were great. For appetizers we had the "Summer Corn & Saffron Bisque" with lobster and corn relish, and "Roasted Red & Gold Beets" with whipped goat cheese, pistachios & aged balsamic. For entrees we had the "Grilled Atlantic Swordfish" & "Sautéed Nantucket Fluke" we are not fish people, but the waitress recommended it. It was fabulous. read more

Excellent entrees and desserts. This restaurant is a must-visit in Nantucket, though be prepared to pay higher prices than most restaurants. 20 dollars for a normal salad and 10 dollars for one doughnut was a bit extravagant. read more

Very good restaurant. It is clean and waiters are quick and ready for to attend to you at any time.

I loved the food. I had the arugula salad, yellowtail flounder and 2 desserts (had a hard time choosing). One was the chocolate lover's dream (or something like that) and some kind of pear dessert. Both were delicious. My husband had the pork, which was a little overcooked. I had Ivy's Cocktail, which was delicious, but very small with a high price tag. I drank it in 5 minutes. The only real negative was they were not great at asking if I would like another drink. I don't like my wine glass to go empty and I could have easily had 2 more. read more

Modern and clean decor, excellent friendly service, we had fried oysters as appetizer which was delicious. Flounder entree was fresh, unique and excellent. The maple bacon ice cream was in a lot of Yelp reviews so we wanted to try it... it was too bacony for me, a lot of chunks of bacon was too heavy for dessert but it was creative and unique, glad to try it. Expensive but high food quality and experience was nice for a special occasion. read more

The food and ambiance were excellent. This was our favorite restaurant tried during our stay in Nantucket. The half portions were plenty for my mom and I - more restaurants should offer this option! The shrimp gnocchi appetizer was excellent and they split it onto two plates for us to share without us needing to ask for this. My mom had the osso bucco and I had the flounder and both were very good. Would definitely recommend to others. read more

Best meal in Nantucket. Especially enjoyed the calamari appetizer, the perfectly cooked atlantic cod in a savory tomato broth with chorizo and garbanzo. We had read the reviews here about the bread pudding with maple bacon ice cream dessert and YES!!!!, it is as good as everyone says, so don't miss it! read more

Disappointing. The portions are small and it's overpriced. I had the Korean short ribs. $32 (ish) they were tough, flavorful but dry and not worth the price. Value isn't there. I've had nice meals here before bit this wasn't so good. read more

Outstanding meal from start to finish. Crispy rock shrimp tostada exploded with flavors. Pork chop was cooked to perfection. Dessert of warm sugar and cinnamon donut partnered with salted caramel and chocolate sauce was a great finish. read more

Very eclectic menu and half portions was the key because we could share 3 appetizers before the main course and then shared 2 desserts so we got a tasting of half the menu. Located in historic downtown Nan read more

Had a wonderful and romantic dinner her during the off season for my anniversary with my boyfriend. The food was delicious, seasonal, and mostly local ingredients. I had the butternut squash soup which was to die for and exceptional plating. I opted for the half portion of the special- gnocchi with lobster and mushrooms in a basil sauce. It was amazing and the perfect size! My boyfriend had the salmon and it did not disappoint. The ambiance is great, friendly staff, and great location downtown. read more

Delicious. The fig bread pudding is to die for....

Wow. The very best restaurant on Nantucket. Four of us each had memorable meals. We all walked away feeling full and amazed by how wonderful our meals were. read more

I was on island for Daffadil Weekend. Sunday night I had one of the best meals I have ever had on island. We started off with the beets with whipped goat cheese and pistachios which was perfection. The oysters were so fresh. I asked our waiter Bill for recommendations and he suggested the Steak Frites. Cooked to perfection with a hint of bacon and blue cheese I was in heaven! And the frites- forget about it. I was able to take half home and have it with eggs for breakfast ! Loved the vibe, awesome service, and Mike the owner couldn't be more attentive to details in the kitchen and on the floor. Can't wait to come back ! read more

Dune- busy place but was able to be seated an hour before my reservation. A bit noisy. Not great for kids. Especially if in a stroller. Stroller ate up valuable table real estate where the staff may have seated another couple. Great to see neighboring tables visiting with each other between courses. Upscale modern. Mock tail- berry. Strawberry mint and ginger ale Wonderful flavored and could feel myself getting intoxicated on a non alcoholic drink. Haha Calamari app. Great job on calamari. Great colors with sauces but besides some salt and the grilled flavor not too much other flavor. Pretty to look at and heck I bought it for the calamari. That's what I got. Aged beef frite -----yum. Perfect medium rare. Side salad with portabello and bleu cheese. Beef with a hollandaise sauce and seasoned fries in tower of metal and paper/parchment paper....and the rest just shows so well. Fries are at least bite sized and easy to grab with a fork rather than the hands. Gosh this was great. What a wrap to a great dinner. Rhubarb cobbler like with a key lime creme. Yummmmmm. What a great party and finale for the palate. Attentive service. Very timely. Not too soon or late. They hit the mark and do it extremely well. read more

What a wonderfully creative and delicious meal. I particularly recommend the spring pea with bacon custard bisque and if they have it the strawberry rhubarb crisp. The swordfish was quite tasty as well. We along with everyone around us seemed impressed by the depth of flavor across the board - appetizers, entrees, desserts, and drinks were all remarkable. read more

Dune was great. My wife and I couldn't wait to try the vegan tasting plate and it was incredible. All of the food was delicious, well-seasoned and well-cooked. There were six items on the tasting plate, and I hear it changes from night to night, depending on what is in season and fresh. Kudos to the chef. read more

So, the food was ok. My girlfriend has a gluten allergy and she ordered making sure that the server knew about the allergy. Unfortunately the chef disregarded the allergy and included gluten in her meal. She ate it and realized after and had a severe reaction. Unbelievable. What a screw up. Thanks a lot. read more

Went there for dinner last night without a reservation and that was a mistake. Let me start by saying that the food was delicious. The service, however, was HORRIBLE. We made the mistake of sitting at the patio bar and the bartender was extremely rude. We even heard him say at some point that we were there without a reservation. He never asked how our meal was, never asked if we needed another drink etc, we felt unwelcome. Would like to come again but if this waiter/bartender is ever to wait on us again I will walk away. read more

My wife and I ate here and just had an entree; but what a treat they were! She had the pork loin chop with wheat berries and vegetables. Everything was cooked perfectly and the different textures were wonderful. I had the pan roasted Atlantic Cod with the garbanzo and tomato stew with chorizo. The cod was cooked just right; nice and moist but with a crunch on top. The stew was not thick, but was more like a sauce and the chorizo added just the right amount of spice to the garbanzos and the sweetness of the green peas! We finished with the white peach/basil sorbet. The whole meal was great! read more

If the site had the option to give 1/2 stars I'd push to 3.5. Great restaurant and my fiancé and I really enjoyed ourselves. Loved the decor and the ambiance was really nice. The food on the other hand was good, not great. I got the soft shell crab for an appetizer and almost laughed when it came out it was so small. I've seen larger bottle caps! What really bothered me though was he fact that the crab was missing a claw on one side and half its legs. For the money they charge this dish should have come with one heck of a crab. I sent it back and to the restaurant's defense they actually gave me two which I thought was a nice gesture. Unfortunately they were so salty they were borderline un-edible. My entree was the seared tuna which was outstanding. My fiancé had the carpaccio to start which was unbelievably good. Her Nantucket fluke was not nearly as tasty. Wine and service were great. read more

This is one of the top 3 restaurants on the island if you ask me, a true gem with a star chef. The food is inventive and incredibly well-prepared and the plating is gorgeous, we go back whenever we are in town. The halibut was served in a divine coconut and lemon grass broth along with many perfectly cooked veggies, and the duck, something I do not normally like, was one of the single best things I've ever eaten. The chef here is really creative with food; the oysters, which were superb, were dressed with a light cantaloupe and cucumber "mignonette" which was far better than the overwhelming vinegar version. There was a fun cacio e pepe risotto that we loved, a nice play on one our favorite pasta dishes. Everything was ridiculously good, and we had super friendly and attentive service. read more

Wonderful dinner at Dune. Sat outside and it was lovely. Excellent service. And food was terrific. We would definitely return!

It was good! Quiet environment suited well for older people. The environment has an upscale/ modern feel. I had Spanish shrimp, little necks + mussels and it was very flavorful. Tabbouleh and garlic fries sides were both great! My husband had the halibut and he loved it. Great presentation and the waiter was on point. My only reason for 4 vs 5 stars is that the food tasted a bit better at the Proprietor. Still excellent and worth every penny just a personal preference. We are a younger couple and like the spicier food better. read more

In our recent trip to Nantucket, we stopped over and had a wonderful meal at Dune. We came across this restaurant after a walk through town, and we are so glad we found it! We visited the island after the peak season, and the service was highly attentive and provided a great dining experience. The meal was lovely and was well-paced. The ambiance was charming and the food was delicious and I know I will be making a return visit to Dune, next summer! read more

This is a restaurant attempting to present the "trendy" platform when actually it is simply disappointing. Portions are served on modern Asian plates but very small. The food unimaginative and when there is invention it is unbalanced and just plain awful as in the instance of vanilla ice cream with bacon--a giant YUK on that. My dinner partner had sea scallops. Only four scallops over bread crumbs. I had shrimp--this portion was made for Lilliputions. Desert we had fig pudding for him and I had the blueberry/mint Ceme Brulee--ghastly tasted like cold medicine--his fig pudding topped with that horror: bacon ice cream. Now as to the service--the waitresses have an attitude, at least ours did--no warmth and very snobby, don't get me wrong she did her job but one can do it with an ounce of warmth and yet still be respectful and classy--this was icicle service and not at all deserved of a tip.She had the I am better than you air about her. Ridiculous. I won't even give this seemingly trendy restaurant a star--it was one of the worst places I have ever dined in--small portions, dreadful food combos, nothing with flair or imagination. For superb Creme Brulee--you need to visit The Galley Beach Club Restaurant. The next evening we dined at the Sea Grille--great food, wonderful service--lovely portions--no pretense--great fare. To post this I have to choose a rating so even the one star is undeserved by this restaurant--no Dune for anyone! read more

Food was expertly prepared and tasty, service was attentive and outdoor seating on the veranda was great for a romantic dinner. We had the seasonal vegetable risotto and the miso swordfish. Both cooked perfectly and very tasty. It was also a less pretentious, more casual alternative to a lot of the other restaurants on the island (meaning you don't have to wear a blazer to go here). I would definitely recommend this place, especially if you are in your 20's or 30's. read more

Superb dinner at the bar. Lucas is excellent cocktail maestro. Halibut was excellent.

Excellent! Cute little place with great service and amazing food. The fish could not have been more fresh and was cooked to perfection. A Nantucket must! read more

Dinner was fabulous once again. However, this time I cannot give it 5 stars; minus a star because of service... food was timely etc except everyone from the person who seated us to the waiter were just not interested in being there. I expect hosts to be welcoming and waiters to be able to describe a dish. Maybe its because it is off season and they are just done. read more

Dune is Decent....not great but decent...Decent .....duck appetizer was ok..a little too much sauce and potato/scallion-pancakes were dried out....the pickled slaw was crisp and fresh... gnocchi with shrimp app. also not bad...smaller portion options gives you plenty of food for a better price...not sure how much more you would get for larger portion....bay scallop dinner was nice with smoked bacon....would have been better with regular seared scallop... Risotto was good as well...again smaller portion is plenty....glasses of wine priced on higher end but good pours.....acoustics upstairs makes it difficult to conversate with your mate if loud and large party dining next to you...try the homemade ice cream ....worth the price ($10)....vanilla praline, chocolate bourbon and mint pistachio (made with real mint..very cool)....overall on expensive end but food was worth it....also try the salted butter with the bread.....wait staff was attentive...however if you want to have a smoke on your break no problem...just make sure I don't smell it when you come back to the table...decor was well thought out and comfortable ...upstairs bathroom very nice..... read more
