Okay to be honest this Nantucket trip was last summer so I forgot a lot about what we ordered but the one thing that stands out from this place even till now was the lobster fettuccine. If I I had to narrow down to some favorite dishes from the week there this would be near the top of the list! The lobster was so fresh and the sauce and pasta were homemade so it was just such an amazing dish!!! But seriously everything we ordered was so good and the service was wonderful as well!! What an amazing dinner we had at Sea Grille! Everything was perfect. The oysters were so fresh and delicious. I had the Nantucket Seafood Brodo, which has a little bit of everything: lobster, clams, mussels, scallops and calamari. It sits in a fennel and saffron broth. Popped in to satisfy my chowder craving along with a solid Caesar salad. The place was packed (which I was happy to see as I've been a guest there for decades) so I could only sit at the bar. The chowder lacked its usual seasoning and I didn't pick up any of the typical herb accent (rosemary or thyme). The Caesar was very nice and the croutons crunchy. The service by the bartender was efficient & all smiles. Visiting the Sea Grille over the past 30 years has always been a pleasure. Congratulations on 35 years! We come to Nantucket every spring and this is a must on our list. When asking industry people ( bartenders, front desk, waitresses and waiters, etc) for their suggestions, the Sea Grille is always tops on their list. We sat at the bar tonight for a lighter dinner and the food and hospitality were perfect. Staff is very friendly and attentive. This restaurant has a special middle ground for families with young kids, where they totally know how to handle young kids but also make grown ups feel like they're going out somewhere more special than they usually can with the kiddos. At least, that's how we felt! Our waitress was really sweet, and she knew how to act quickly to get kids' orders in and extra bread on the table. (And another round of drinks!) Of course, the food is also incredibly good. I was actually stunned by how good and pretty my yellowish tuna looked. Had a lovely meal with family at Sea Grille. It's got a giant parking lot so parking was easy. I had the roasted beet salad. It had yellow and red beets, herb crusted local goat cheese, onion, caramelized pecans and a nice bright country vinaigrette. I also had the island quahog chowder. It was thick, rich and creamy. The staff was very nice and polite and the interior was very cute. It's a busy place so noise level is as what one would expect for a popular restaurant. read more

We went for the first sitting this evening and they opened exactly at 5pm. We were promptly seated and our server came right over to greet us. The menu has many options with something for everyone, our order was taken quickly and the staff were very attentive. The food arrived in good time and my wife had the caviar and I had the chowder which were both delicious. We then both had the linguisa crusted cod, we have both had this dish several times it is always delicious and never disappoints. Our server passed by several times to check on us but we never felt rushed. My only observation is that when the restaurant opened some of the staff were in the hallway between the outer bar and restaurant. 3 were standing partially blocking it whilst checking their phones. But again this did not detract from the wonderful food and great hospitality. read more

This was one of not only the best places we dined on Nantucket but one of the best meals I've ever had period. The service is outstanding, warm and friendly and personable. We are skeptical with bread but the bread basket was not only unique but so good. We started with the crab cake (pure crab absolutely phenomenal) which is a must have, and the smoked salmon croquettes special (so good). My husband and I never order identical entrees but the fluke special as described in the menu picture, complete with crab and Bartlett farm corn risotto was a dish I could eat every week for the rest of my life. I wanted to take a break from town and eat where the locals do and I'm unbelievably grateful that we chose this place. Many of the locals in the island say that Sea Grille is their favorite. I would agree that it's great. I seem to always order the seafood ravioli, which translates into one large ravioli stuffed with yummy morsels. My wife loves their salmon. It always seems busy, and worth the money. read more

A group of us had dinner here - 2 adults and 3 older teenagers. The food was decent, except for the oysters, but the service was horrific. After we'd been sitting for over 30 minutes having finishing our starters, we politely asked our waitress when we should expect the entrees. The waitress said, shortly. After 20 more minutes passed, I told the waitress that I realized it wasn't her fault, but that we'd been waiting a long time. Rather than say she was sorry for the delay, she curtly said the kitchen was backed up and that timing depended upon when appetizers were finished. When I clarified that we'd been finished for 30 to 45 minutes, she rudely responded that there were 2 more orders ahead of us, so we'd get our food soon. I understand a busy night, but when customers sit down at 8 pm and don't receive their entrees until 10 pm, (particularly when looking at an almost $500 bill), an apology, and not a snotty response, is the better choice. read more

First of all, this is a great place. The vibe is upbeat and a bit noisy which, for me, has lots of good energy. The wait staff was excellent. I think her name was Shay (or Chey)? Very nice, relaxed, and attentive. I had the amazing lobster bisque...lots of lobster, great flavor and puff pastry. Hubs had the clam chowder which he said is the best on the island (and elsewhere)! He ordered the Halibut. The flavor was great but way, way, way too salty. I had a bite and suggested he let the waitress know but he didn't want to. It was as if someone accidentally dumbed salt. It was that salty. I ordered the simple tuna which was very good. The cauliflower side was great! Brown rice was bland. This was our first time in the area and I'm not sure if this is common based on the fact that the entire island is a tourist attraction, but I've never paid so much for such an average meal. We tried out this place for dinner on our recent trip to Nantucket. We were able to snag a reservation the same day without issue. It did require getting an Uber if you are staying near Main Street. We were promptly seated at our arrival. We were placed at the front of the restaurant/bar which was quite loud. It was fine but definitely not romantic in any way as it was hard to have your own conversation over everyone else's. Our waiter was very friendly and efficient! He suggested a few items and happily answers any questions we had. We started with drinks and the calamari appetizer. The calamari was wonderful especially with the sauce that accompanied it. The drinks were good but pricey. I had the filet with lobster casserole and a house salad. The filet was ok ( slightly dry and flavorless) and the lobster casserole was a tad salty with too much panko. I probably would not get that again. My husband had the stuffed shrimp, whipped potatoes and a house salad. He enjoyed all of his meal. We didn't have room for dessert but they had a variety to choose from. read more

The lobster bisque is a MUST- not just the best on island- but best I've ever had anywhere. The free form lobster ravioli is amazing! Highly recommend. This is the story of a dishonest and surly hostess. I can't comment on the food since unfortunately we didn't get that far. Read on. It was the last night of our family's wonderful week long stay in Nantucket. We decided to eat our last dinner at Sea Grille based upon a recommendation from our concierge. We called the restaurant to see if they had outdoor seating. This was important to us as we have not eaten inside a restaurant since COVID started and we aren't vaccinated. The hostess assured me they had outdoor seating. I reserved an outdoor table. She confirmed an outdoor reservation. We arrived at the restaurant, checked in at the hostess stand. A rude and condescending hostess grumbled that she'd take us to our table. She proceeded to walk deep into the restaurant. When I reminded her we had reserved an outdoor table (she was the one who took the reservation, after all), she grunted and took us in a different direction. Inside the restaurant still. When we questioned her, she said we were sitting on the indoor patio. Reader, this wasn't an indoor patio. It was just the restaurant's front room. No more a patio than the kitchen. We asked if she could as least sit us by a window and open it. She refused. Off we went to find another place to eat dinner without a reservation on Nantucket for five. Not easy. Seafood Grill, I see I am not the first - by any stretch - to mention your rude hostess. She is costing you a lot of money. You might want to do something about her. We called the restaurant early in the day to ask about outdoor seating. They claim to have outdoor seating on Yelp. The hostess said they had a table on their enclosed patio. We booked a reservation for our last night on the island. Our hotel drove us and we were really looking forward to our meal. The hostess showed us the table which was in their dining room. Extremely frustrating! We have not eaten inside a restaurant for over a year! Covid! I asked about the patio she shared we were in it. It is just the front of their restaurant. I asked if the windows could be opened. She said no there are no screens. It is not a patio and there is not outdoor dining. I said she should be clearer on the phone. She was rude in her response and we left. They might have incredible food but being honest and polite is SO important. read more

Very good service. However food disappointed: Expensive wagyu steak was coated in Chinese 5 spice - Why? Why? Why? Does the chef not understand that wagyu is JAPanese not CHInese -- what a waste of a good piece of meat. In Japan, where we have had real Kobe beef many times, you would never see such beautiful beef coated with aniseed. It was god awful at Sea Grille. Said "Steak Frites" was also accompanied by threadlike shoestring potatoes that you can't even pick up with a fork. It looked like a tangled mess of blond hair. These potatoes were not remotely frites (French fries). I dont think chef here eats their own cooking -- how can you actually serve this culinary drivel to paying customers?. Very poor pairing. Rest of food was ok not great. We live on island and we will not go back there. Everything on Nantucket is painfully expensive -- sea grille is no exception -- but if you are shelling out over $100 a person it may as well be great. This choice is decidedly not great.
