Obe of the few places with mussles! They are sooo good--garlicy and spicy. We came in for a quick lunch. We ended up with five appetizers. All of them very good. The gryo nachos hade so much flavor. The meat is salty and crispy, the chips are freshly fried, and the dips and spreads give a creamy cheese taste and texture. The service was pretty good. The food came out super quickly. Ate here on a Saturday night a few weeks ago. Wow was it loud. It was "I couldn't hear a thing my wife or the server said - at all" loud. Blaring 80's tunes & plastered middle aged guys in visors & Huk fishing shirts, yelling bad pick up lines directly into the faces and ears of 30 something bachelorette goers - that's who surrounded us on 3 sides. Started out w/ a coke that came from a non-functioning dispenser. We had 2 beers, a salad with shrimp (at $6 each), and a cod sandwich. All decent. But there was a hair in the sandwich. It lacked that wow factor that makes a dish truly exceptional. Stick to their seafood offerings for an unforgettable experience. The crab croquettes and Brussels sprouts were undeniably delicious, but they didn't reach the heights of culinary innovation. They were good, but not mind-blowing. The halibut ceviche, on the other hand, was a tangy refreshing delight that combined very well with the house-made chips. Nice spot for drinks and oysters! My friend and I wanted a pre-dinner drink and oyster appetizer so we came here. It's a great location on the water a little off the main drag. I ordered the don't call it a comeback which has ginger infused vodka, passionfruit, citrus and vanilla but it's surprisingly not too sweet and very ginger forward. My friend enjoyed her off-menu mojito. Then we shared 1/2 oysters. They have different varieties that rotate. We had ones from Nantucket and wellfleet. The wellfleet ones are my absolute favorite. They were all very fresh and shucked well, and came with homemade mignonette and tangy oyster sauce. The service was great as well! read more

Why I'll go back: Looks and feels like an old school Nantucket dive (good), but the food is surprisingly excellent for "bar food" (even better) You HAVE to order: The Nashville hot chicken sandwich, and a beer Tony's Tip: pretty easy to walk in for lunch before noon I slipped in to Slip 14 for the second time in two Summers after letting this place slip past me for a decade. Last year, we were just looking for a quick daytime bite, and we posted up at a hightop next to the open window. I figured, "they can't screw up a chicken sandwich and fries too bad." Well, MY bad! Slip 14 crushed the chicken sando, which was more buffalo than spicy hot, and the fries were a perfect crispy outside, tender inside. Not only that, but this spot serves the coldest beer I can remember. Had to go back again this year for a repeat, grabbing a couple bar seats. The calamari is a unique preparation with a delicious aioli-type sauce. The Caesar is competent (if you love dressing, perhaps ask for a little extra on the side). The vibe is super chill and the prices are a welcome relief from the inflationary blowup this year. So, I'm slipping Slip 14 into the rotation. You should do the same. read more

Bouncer Blake on a power trip- would not let me into the bar on a Saturday night because I did not have a secondary ID with my Rhode Island drivers license. Said a passport... Why would I bring a passport to Nantucket when I'm from Rhode Island? He replied "it's August" with no further explanation and even more unprofessionally, no eye contact. Disappointed I couldn't be a paying customer and had to wait outside for my friends to come back out who had to cut their experience short as well. read more

This is my 4th season in Nantucket and it's the first time here. Love it! I give 5 stars because of the food quality and the service. The servers are friendly and helpful with the menu. There is a good selection of appetizers and entrees. It's a great place to come for fresh seafood. Since I started writing this review I have been back 2 more times. I am surprised that Slip 14 doesn't have 5 stars because their food is outstanding and their service is great. Classic island hospitality here at the waterside. The menu is fabulous. At the top of my favorite list is Slip 14's "Seared Halibut with Thai Basil Risotto in a Green Curry, Beurre Blanc Sauce with Apples and Papaya." I mean it's so good that you'll want it for breakfast. Also at the top of my list are their seared scallops with crispy potatoes and goat cheese in basil oil and brown butter. And for desert? I ordered the fresh oysters which were the perfect finale for a great evening. All in all, this is a first rate restaurant with caring, friendly service. Alright place inside isn't high end and is pretty loud. Menu has changed for the worse, don't use the sample menu. Removed local options (like fluke) and added $10 to everything (almost $40 for airline chicken). Caesar salads $19 and add $16 for a small partial breast. Brussels were covered in lime, not very good. Had good service and decent portions. Going for fancy words and acting like a high end restaurant without much to back it up. Was good, but for price expecting a lot more, even on nantucket. Returns will probably be limited to drinks read more

Great place to sit down after arriving on the Ferry and have some delicious appetizers and locally brewed beers from Cisco Brewery. I highly recommend the lobster macaroni and cheese, street corn, and artichoke crab dip. Yum!! read more

This was our least favorite dinner on the island. Sat down to a sticky table. There were no coasters, so the condensation of our drinks were making our table completely wet. Didn't help that there were no fans or AC inside during a heatwave. The calamari app was drenched in sauce & chewy. The tuna entrée was literally a few slices of tuna, a 4x2'' rice patty, a slice of cucumber, and 3 slices of cherry tomato with a line of sauce. For almost $40 - this was an appetizer. I also asked if I could swap the halibut for chicken on the risotto (I have an allergy) - she told me it was a $10 upcharge. What!?! Since when is swapping fish for chicken more expensive....!? This would have been a $44 chicken entrée. I ordered the chicken dish instead...which was $32 and came with mashed potatoes and veggies. Chicken was dry. Overall, a terrible meal - there are a million other great options in ACK.....I wouldn't waste your time coming here. read more

We had low expectations based on other reviews and had a fantastic dinner with a phenomenal server. The Calamari appetizer was delicious - cornmeal dusted calamari with a Buffalo sauce vibe (trust me, try it!). My husband had the halibut risotto and said it was the best fish he'd had on Nantucket. I had perfectly cooked scallops with crispy potatoes. Sadly the desserts we wanted were sold out, so we passed and went home to eat the cookies we'd bought at Bartlett's Farm earlier in the day. Our incredible server, K (I'm sorry, I know I'm going to butcher your name!) was fun, energetic, passionate and sweet - and made great recos! I've been coming here with friends for the past ten years during our annual summer holiday, and have always enjoyed the vibe and the location out on the Old Wharf. But while the quality of the food has remained consistent, the sizes of the portions have gotten ridiculously small for these prices. $38 for four scallops and a tiny side of corn relish is unacceptable anywhere, even on Nantucket. (The next day, we ate at Brotherhood of Thieves and the portions were twice as large, for 2/3 the price.) Hopefully things improve before our next visit, at which point we will happily return. read more

Came here with my family and the four of us ate outside. It was a lovely view of the boats and the water which was nice. Our waitress was so nice and surprisingly our food came super fast despite the place being absolutely packed. The nashville hot chicken was super good, not as spicy as i was expecting which was slightly disappointing but nonetheless it was good. The halibut sandwich was great, and the added pineapple was a nice touch, but unfortunately my father is feeling very sick now and we're pretty sure it's from something he ate here. Its such a shame because we actually really enjoyed eating here. If my father were not now sick, i would totally recommend this place for the great service and good food. :( read more

I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. TL;DR: go to SeaGrille for the same price point and incredible food. We started out with the calamari, which was chewy, stringy and mushy. It was bathed in a sauce, almost as if it was all pre-prepared, and slopped out cafeteria style in a bowl. My husband was choking at one point because of the stringiness (it was literally stuck in his throat). We complained to the waitress but she honestly could not have cared less. As for our entrees, I had the lobster tacos with saffron sauce and my husband had the halibut in a port wine sauce. The lobster tacos were beyond anemic (my guess is less than 1 ounce of meat between the two) even for Nantucket pricing and standards (our family owns a house here--not just tourists). My food was cold and sparse, flavor ok, but I did not complain given the lack of response related to the calamari. My husbands fish--again anemic even when paired against other Nantucket establishments. Maybe 2-3 ounces of fish? And halibut paired with the port wine Demi-glacé crema was not the best pairing. The sauce overwhelmed the entire dish and honestly ruined the meal. The best part about our meal was our daughters chicken fingers and French fries. The restroom was out of hand soap and hand sanitizer (during a pandemic and when masks are mandated). I spoke to two members of the staff. No one would stock the restroom. Honestly, just disgusted at the entire experience. Do your self a favor---SeaGrille (one of the best restaurants on the island) is at the same exact price point. Make your way over there and avoid this dump. read more
