I have no clue why this place has 3 stars because my sister and I were visiting Nantucket and this was HIGHLY recommended to us. We made a reservation will in advance and of course you have to make it around the sunset. We thought the food was well worth the price for a nicer dinner and we had the best view of the beach. Our waiter was phenomenal!!! He made so many great recommendations and made sure we got a little bit of everything. From an appetizer, entree and dessert we had zero complaints and dream of going back one day. The views are also the cherry on top! Their menu does change but from what I remember we had the lobster deviled eggs, crab cake, a tuna dish, lobster gnocchi, some shrimp pasta dish and a molten cake!

What a gorgeous view. We sat where we could look out at the beach and ocean and watch the sunset. There was a parking lot in front of the restaurant if you managed to bring a car to Nantucket. The service was impeccable. There was always a waiter within earshot. He kept our waters fully all times. I started off with a stuffed eggplant with apricots, currents and yogurt. It was devine. I wish they would share the recipe. For a main course, I had a grilled veal chop over a bed of warm wild rice and mushrooms. I had it cooked medium rare. I would give it six stars but I am only allowed five. I would definitely return if I ever had the opportunity. A definite must if ever visiting the island.

Enjoyed the food, service and ambience! Would recommend coming right for sunset! The martinis were excellent.

Nothing beats the view of the sunset at this restaurant. The couches and tables set up on the beach. Some with fire tables are just gorgeous! The service was great! Especially considering how busy it was. The dining room was so loud we could hardly speak across the table. But it is to be expected. Considering it is a busy restaurant. The price fix dinner at $89 seems reasonable, but everything that we chose off the menu was an extra cost. It seems that most things are an extra cost. We are used to Manhattan prices, so it's not that it's unusual for us to spend money for a nice dinner. The food was average and did not reflect the cost. A 23% gratuity is added to the check, which no one tells you when they drop it off. We had two appetizers, two entrées, one cocktail, one cup of coffee and a $97 bottle of wine. The check was $458. You have to make a reservation for a table outside to watch the sunset, as well as a table inside for dinner. I would definitely go back for the sunset, but I would dine someplace else for dinner.

We didn't have a reservation, but were able to be seated at a high top with a wonderful beach view. Our server Jimmy was knowledgeable and kind! We could tell he got a little stressed due to his tables being spread out so much, but he did a great job giving us a lovely experience. The drinks were great, the food was delicious, and the dessert was light and tasty. My only con was that my steak was overcooked but I decided to just let it be. Everything else came out perfectly. We will definitely be back again!

The food was good -- not fantastic. I would have rated it a 3 if it weren't for the absolutely stunning view. Definitely plan to finish dinner by 7, because once the sun goes down it gets pretty dark and you lose that beautiful scenery. We tried the Restaurant Week menu; I wasn't a fan of the squash "Caesar" -- the lettuce was replaced with squash, which didn't work for me. The wagyu tips, however, were amazing!

We ordered a kids pasta for my daughter and this is the bowl they gave it to her in- no joke. It looked like it was a bowl ffor ketchup that's how small it was. And then I ordered a panini off the menu which came with salami - I asked them if I can have that taken off to I have a vegetarian option and they said no because the paninis are pre-made... which was surprising to hear at a restaurant like the Galley. I was hoping for something fresh. It's been a spot we've gone to for years but won't be going back after this experience.

Great evening, crowded but very personable service and super dinner. First the oysters are exceptional, the lobster bisque was chocked full of lobster bits and the Lobster entree and swordfish entree were superb. We will be back , very special.

The food is AMAZING! Pros: -The food tastes amazing and well worth the prices -The wine choices are unique and taste wonderful -The service is superb -Valet parking or street parking is free -Eating right on the beach -Great for sunset dinners -Beautiful interior -Even the bathrooms play ocean wave sounds Cons: -The crowd is not your typical Nantucket crowd, they are trendy, dressy and have a little superior air about them -Hard to get reservations

The service, food and drinks are great but the view is everything. Once the sunsets, everyone goes over to the beach to take pictures... and the pictures are amazing. As must as I loved the whole experience the view is what makes the experience spectacular.

Eh The Kitchen was strong, every dish we ordered was delicious. We ordered one of every appetizer, and each was very good at minimum, none were to die for or would bring me back a second visit. Our Entrees were also enjoyable. Balanced flavor profiles, nothing overwhelming or unpleasing. Typically heavy dishes such the chicken and pork chop were well plated with appropriate peripheral components. Both entrees pictured were well prepared overall and met my expectations of the establishment. The wine we ordered was delicious. The reason for my low, 2-star rating is the service. All four guests in our party agreed that the service was very rushed and that the wait staff pushed strongly to free up our table for the next guests despite no prior notice of a set dining time period. While we wanted to enjoy, and continue ordering from, their well appointed wine list, we were instead hurried out the door. With a stronger front of house, Galley Beach could be outstanding, an undoubtably 5-star shop. I may or may not return next time we're on island but I probably won't recommend to anyone until I can confirm first hand that the staff is capable of providing a level of service that matches the quality of their food and wine.

Wow, I'm completely shocked by the low reviews of this establishment. My third season in Nantucket and Galley Beach is always a highlight. Lunch or Dinner. Afternoon drinks or nightcaps. The staff is welcoming, attentive and professional. Impressive views. If the clouds cooperate you can catch some of the best sunsets in your life. The critiques on pricing seem very unfair as pricing is in line with other restaurants on the island. Fresh produce, attention to detail and a caring staff really make this the place to be on Nantucket. Lobster spring roll are amazing. But so is the very simple omelette for lunch. Perfectly fluffy eggs. Make a reservation and see for yourself the seaside elegance of Galley Beach.

This place is fantastic. Ignore the reviews. Yes it's expensive but hey, you're on the beach in Nantucket. We had the lobster spring rolls, Caesar salad, chicken, and halibut. All of it was excellent! The drinks are good too. The most fun is people watching. You will have a great night here.

If I call ahead will the chef accommodate special dietary restrictions? I have two vegans in my party. A simple pasta dish with vegetables and olive oil would suffice! Thanks in advance.

The Club Car Restaurant, housed in a restored 19th century railroad car, serves delicious breakfast and lunch in a unique setting without breaking the bank-something that's hard to come by on the island. I have been trying for almost a year to contact The Club Car about an experience I had. I have called multiple times, left messages, and emailed, but I have never received a response. I made reservations at The Club Car's sister restaurant, Nantucket Tap Room. My confirmation text said my reservation was at The Club Car, so I called right away. I was told not to worry because they are sister restaurants and the confirmation "just said The Club Car." On the day of our reservation, I called the Tap Room just to confirm. That's when I was told I did not have a reservation there and that it was actually at The Club Car. Thankfully, the manager was able to get us a table at the Tap Room. When we arrived, I asked the hostess if The Club Car had been notified, and she assured me the reservation had been canceled. I had a wonderful dinner with my husband and son. We spent well over $400 and left very happy. Then I received my credit card statement and saw a $75 no-show charge from The Club Car. I immediately called and was told a manager would contact me. No one ever did. Nearly a year later, after multiple phone calls, voicemails, and emails requesting a refund, I still have not received a single response. The reservation mix-up was frustrating, but what has been even more disappointing is the complete lack of customer service afterward. I understand that mistakes happen, but charging a customer a no-show fee after your own staff assured them everything had been taken care of, then ignoring every attempt to resolve it for almost a year, is unacceptable.
