Local lettuces salad, bread, brussel sprouts, boquerones
    Erin B.

Came back to try out the food and it surpassed expectations! Same great atmosphere and experience, but now I can confidently recommend a dinner here. The bread was fantastic, as were the boquerones, served perfectly in olive oil. The sunchokes and brussel sprouts were unique and flavorful. I enjoyed the risotto and mafaldi, but the winner for the entrees was the frutti di mare. Seriously, this was one of the best dishes I have had in Nantucket. It is not to be missed, slightly spicy with shrimp and an incredible sauce. We'll definitely be back next time we are on the island!

Wow!! Our best meal on the island was at Via Mare. Our server, Stephanie, was amazing and went above and beyond to accommodate our party. The restaurant is beautiful. It has a cozy, luxurious ambiance. I had a glass of chilled red wine, which was excellent and unique. We got various small plates for the table. For me the standouts were the straciatella, sunchokes, and risotto! Like everything on the island, it's a bit pricy, but I felt like Via Mare was a better value for our money than other places. Loved our experience here!

It was such a relief to come to Via Mare after such a long trip to Nantucket complete with 6 hours of delays from California. I will say that the restaurant layout was surprising to me - I entered through the front door and it's very dark and unclear where I was supposed to go to have someone seat me. But if you walk through the hall then there's a waiting room of sorts with the registers and someone came to help out so that's good. We were fortunate enough to be seated during the last night of restaurant week with a chefs tasting menu. Wow what a treat! We were able to try so many things and it was all very delicious. We got 8 dishes: deviled eggs, hot chicken milanese on Moroccan pancakes, a summer salad, grilled beans, crispy brussel sprouts, crispy taters, agnolotti, and the pesce del giorno. My favorites were all the vegetables and the hot chicken milanese - so many crispy flavors! Especially loved the slice of pickle on top of the spicy hot chicken - super great blend of spicy and sweet with the right crunch from the chicken and soft chewiness of the pancake. My only bit of feedback is that 1. It's pretty dark and 2. We were seated in the bar area and the bartender would toss what I think were empty bottles in the recycling and it was shatteringly loud for such a small, tight space. Otherwise, our server was a gem and we loved the food!

Stephanie was very amazing If you get Stephanie you are lucky. The plain pasta with butter and Parmesan sauce was very tasty. There was no bees. Epic.

This restaurant is one that I look forward to every single trip. The food is just phenomenal. The meat was all cooked and seasoned perfectly, the tuna tataki was far from fishy and portioned well. The caviar pancakes are a must if you like caviar, and the house made crostino (cheese, bread) is REQUIRED. I could go here and just order that. The rye and mushroom spaghetti was great but I probably wouldn't order again, and the green beans are always delicious. The decor is rustic and almost bookish in a unique way, with dark wood, comfortable cushions, and purposeful clutter. The staff is charming and accommodating, their bar staff had us try wines and were passionate about finding us the right one. The caviar dessert was unique too, if you're on the island for even one night this is the place to go.

Delicious Espresso martini and olive oil cake dessert - On the porch setting !

Went here for a wonderful dinner last night. Had a nice outdoor table on the porch so we could enjoy the beautiful Nantucket evening. However looking inside it looked like a cozy space for dining also. As far as service - it was great - we had a primary waitress who was so nice , but several people also checked with us to make we had what we needed. With so many small plates its hard to choose on the menu but the wait staff provides guidance. We chose several of the small appetizer sizes plates and three of the small plates. No need to even order the larger dinners but they have a few choices for that as well. We topped it off with a delicious olive cake dessert and espresso Martini. Wonderful experience !

Mussels and bread-picture doesn't do it justice!!

Oh my GOODNESS! This place is a home run! This is the restaurant/bar in Greydon House. I highly recommend the mussels and bread-they are the best we have ever had. Creamy with a touch of spice in it, full and delicious mussels, and this gorgeous crusty warm bread for dipping. ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!

Great staff, our waiter Olivia and especially our hostess caroline were amazing, both very friendly, welcoming and provided great service. Food was very good, the bread doesnt look like much but it's a slice of heaven. Brussels sprouts, farfalle, and fra daviala were both great. Overall great atmosphere / well run restaurant! Took one star off only because of how long the food took.

Very tasty meal with inside and outside sidewalk dining. I attached a photo of the menu. Waitress was professional and courteous would highly recommend this restaurant.

Great cocktails and great food! We loved the asparagus, tater tots, chicken Milanese appetizer, and the pesto pasta. Best for small groups.

Upstairs there a barroom and a couple of dining rooms. I would not imagine they could have so much seating. I had the octopus and pot belly. The octopus was tender. Given how hard it is to cook octopuses this was an accomplishment. Then I had the venison, cooked rare. It was delicious. I would return anytime I was on the island.

And lastly, 3) the food. While meals historically have been a mixed bag, the food overall is a sure bet. Additionally, I love that the Oran Mor is more of an older crowd. I'm in my hanging with a 65 year old+ chic granny more than a 20 something year old influencer era. Ok, some more details. My batched cocktail off the menu was great - the cherry rickey. I love all things cherry and this hit home with a perfect mix of cherry and boozy flavors. We went with the snail app, the special crab pasta and the potato crusted fish. The crab pasta was solid, with the pasta being cooked perfectly. A tad bland, but that could just be the dish was more focused on that crab vs heavy seasoning. The fish was delicious, but disappointment came in with the sides. Sides are usually my favorite part of any dish, and the eggplant was burnt and ultimately kind of inedible and the veggie medley or whatever it was, was indeed a bit sad and underwhelming. My husband and I both were like womp womp. Even the additionally ordered creamed spinach was more of a creamy spinach soup vs spinach which we also would not order again. No dessert because Juice Bar be like around the corner. :) Service was great. We have been seated in the dining room and by the bar, and I appreciate both vibes. Overall, solid. Nantucket dining can be hit or miss with rezzies hard to find, so if Oran Mor is a possibility, I don't think you'll be disappointed (maybe just with the sides!).

Just a nice, artisan dish akin to something you'd get in New Bedford or Fall River. Fantastic. 5-Stars. Now their lobster roll. Imagine a hot dog, OK, and now imagine one of those little Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage links for size comparison. The volume of finely shredded lobster meat, that was also warm in that hot dog roll was smaller than the Jimmy Dean link. 0-Stars. My recommendations for a "good" lobster roll is to go anywhere else on island. I'd recommend Sayle's Seafood, The Nantucket Lobster Trap or Stubby's. In fact, I'd just stay clear of the Club Car altogether, it is one of those places for the self-focused New York / Miami new [vulgar] money jet-set that treat the island like their play-thing... you know, you see their empty beer cans in the morning around town. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

The service is always on point (Bridget always takes care of us--she's genuinely so nice), and the food never misses: the lobster Cobb salad is fresh, loaded, and perfectly balanced, and the croque madame is pure comfort (savory, cheesy, and even better with the egg). And don't sleep on dinner, Club Car turns it up even more, and their steak frites is the best!
