Made this reservation a few weeks before we were coming to visit Nantucket. The entire experience was phenomenal. The hostess took us to our table which was outside under an awning. Such a great atmosphere. Our server, Peach was very good. She told us about the Tuna Tartare Appetizer over a cucumber and lychee broth. We couldn't pass that up. It was so light and refreshing. Then we ordered the Softshell Crab App as well. Fresh Peach, Friscee and sherry vinaigrette. WOW! I couldn't believe how fresh it all was. For dinner, my wife ordered the Yellowfin Tuna with panzanella which was amazing. The bread stayed crispy while the mozzarella was extremely creamy. Hints of fresh basil and mint complimented the cherry tomato, cucumber and watermelon so well. I order the Fluke which was so amazingly fresh. I can't say enough how fresh everything was. It was presented over purple potatoes, and a light "clam chowder" type preparation. So light and delicious. To say the least, this was the highlight of the day in Nantucket. You have to visit Dune. read more

Just went for drinks at the bar. This was the only place I found on the island that actually served a great drink. Of course, it was expensive, like everywhere else. But at least the drinks were made well and actually tasted good...unlike many places I went for the same price. read more

Dune nailed it at the outside bar last night. Shea the bartendress served us with care. Even as a big party of 7 people she kept our drinks filled and helped us navigate their wonderful appetizer menu. Beef carpaccio and calamari were huge hits with our group as were the delightfully crisp and fresh tomato dish and the avocado salad. And if you happen to see Shea at the outside bar, ask her for the soon to be famous drink: grass fed pickle. Thanks for taking care of us, Dune, we will be back again soon! read more

I had high hopes for this place. My husband and I had dinner here this past Saturday night at 8:15 pm. The atmosphere and decor were very nice and chic. Nice bar area, although it was packed. We were seated in a private booth area and were pleased with the privacy, until a party of 8 was seated next to us. From that point on, they took top priority. Our server kept rotating between a man and a woman and we felt very rushed. The food itself was really just OK. I had the warm pear salad for an app and the lettuce was mostly weeds. My dinner (the beef) was extremely fatty and I didn't eat most of it. I did like that I had the option for half portion vs the full. My husband had the chowder, which he thought was good and the special which was tuna. He said it was OK at best. The highlight was the fried donut that we shared for dessert with a warm apple slice. Overall, it was loud, and the table next to us was so obnoxious and loud that it really put a damper on our evening. The fact that the food wasn't even that great didn't add to the experience. In my opinion, I preferred Cioppino's. read more

We were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary and wanted a nice place to relax and celebrate. We went to Dune. The food was very, very good yet we had a terrible experience there. A couple next to us were having issues and the man yelled at the woman several times to the point where we were just frozen with "what's going on?". The wait staff rushed over to us after the couple left and expressed how concerned they were for us - terrible way to subject patrons to a uncomfortable scene because no one offered to help relieve the situation. It was just allowed to happen. The bill came with no complimentary anything - not that we were looking for a discount yet to run an establishment where there was little concern and no action for our wellbeing - we left feeling overwhelmed and this overshadowed our experience. read more

Fresh ingredients and creative dishes. Every item on the plate had a purpose. The halibut with sun choke purée had tons of flavor and was perfectly cooked. The scallops were equally great. The cocktail menu is worth checking out. I recommend the blackberry caipirinha. Stars was very attentive. read more

Wow - best meal we have had in years. The food is fresh, interesting and the ambience is great!

I have lived on Nantucket for over 30 years as both a year round and summer resident. I have seen many restaurants come and go. Today's lunch at Dune places it in the "Go" box. I had salmon on Asian vegetables and noodles: $18. The salmon portion was minuscule, and the vegetables and noodles had an oxidized refrigerator taste. The sauce was banal, and there was too much of it. My wife had the burger, $20., which was fine but came with greasy, flaccid fries which were replaced with equally greasy, flaccid fries. Ugh, my last lunch there! read more

Some of the best food that I have had in a long time. My gf even drug me back one night to eat a couple of plates of oysters after we had eaten elsewhere!! read more

I finally tried Dune this past weekend and loved it! All 5 at our table loved our apps and meal, particularly the scallops app and the duck entrée. The service was great and we will return. read more

Nice atmosphere and decor. Good food. The steak fritte and the salmon were both cooked perfectly and served elegantly. The maple bacon ice cream is great. Bread pudding is fine if you like bread pudding, but it didn't change my life. Great service. This and Town (down the street) are both good choices. Have to give it to Town for my first choice, but Dune is very close behind. read more

Absolute perfection-service and food alike! We made a reservation for 6:30 and were promptly seated upon arrival. From the minute we sat down each member of the staff was extremely attentive, informative and friendly. I had the chicken breast and my husband had the sirloin. Both could not have been seasoned or cooked any better. Our meal was so delicious I commented I wouldn't be opposed to returning again during our weekend on the island. read more

Really enjoyed the food. We tried 4 different appetizers and enjoyed them all - carpaccio, duck confit, squash, oysters. Made for the perfect dinners. Very flavorful. read more

great meal, great service, great atmosphere, and fantastic vegan tasting plate option available.

Great food and helpful. We are vegetarian and vegan so they made us special veggies. I would highly recommend this place.

Spent many years on island and love Dune, great service great food. Love it!!! Great for 2 people or 10!

Sat on lower level felt like we were sitting on the sidewalk. Food fancy and expensive!

The quality of the service matched with the mediocre level of food did not match my expectations based on other Yelp reviews. We came during the off season (mid April) and it seemed understaffed for the crowd. However, the servers were extremely unapologetic and curt with us. The food was bland, unexciting, and greasy. It was absolutely not the evening I thought I would have. read more

Not normally one to post a review based on just one visit, but... when an entire party of four is basically licking their plates after each course and spends the whole car ride home talking about how good the meal was, you know it's good. Outstanding food, generous portions, Very fair price for the quality of what you get. read more

Loved the food, service and ambiance. Spring pea soup had an unexpected hint of mint and was divine. Salmon and halibut entrees were fabulous. And the warm almond cake was to die for. One of the better dining experiences we had during our 4 days in Nantucket. read more

This was one of the best restaurants ever!! The lobster gnocchi was the Best Dish I ever ate .. Perfect seasoning lobster ooooh the plate was delicious ! The service .. Perfect!! 5 star for sure !!! Chef has to be one of best in country!!!!!!! Loved it!! read more

We were disappointed with the place. The pork chop was cooked correctly but it came swimming in a bowl of too many gigante beans and not nearly enough clams and chorizo. The chicken was good, yet pricey, chick pea fries were a miss as was the eggplant purée. The fluke was excellent yet the wild shrimp was in a soggy polenta. A corn soup with lobster was superb and the kale salad was ok. For $300 before tip, it was not worth it. read more

Had an excellent dinner here. Ingredients are very fresh, seasonings are balanced perfectly. Panzanella salad with pesto was inventive and delicious, as was the pea risotto. My husband said his fluke was amazing. He also had the duck confit which was maybe not a good choice for an island menu. Service was thorough and attentive and prompt. Atmosphere outside is a bit bohemian chic, ie don't look too closely at the construction, but overall really pleasing. Interior is minimalist but still warm and welcoming. Would definitely go back. read more

Excellent food house salad swordfish tuna the best! Their ability to make the main dish accompanied vegetables are perfection.

A great addition to the area, replacing Cioppino - across from the Brotherhood of Thieves in an excellent location right in town. Great service, excellent & creative menu very well executed. Some dishes - such as Carrot Textures, are creative, delicious & very different from everything else out there. Beautifully designed main dining room of 10 tables; outside and upstairs also available. Beautiful & clean unisex bathroom. read more

We had a great meal here! The service was excellent and our waitress Colleen couldn't have been better! Our group had a variety of meals and everyone was very happy with their meals. I would definitely go back next time I am on ACK! read more

Wonderful meal, great atmoshpere, nice bar for a drink before. The server was very friendly, but she was covering a few too many tables and was unable to be quite as available as we would have liked. One of our top meals during our week's stay. read more

Fabulous is an understatement.. My wife have dined there since they opened. Excellent food. Incredible staff. We love Bill and the man bun. He is a rock star. Simply put it's the best. read more

I have yet to have a bad experience here!!! I love the atmosphere and ambiance in Dune, you just can't help but feel comfortable and ready to eat! To add the greatness the staff is extremely friendly and the food is always spot on. My boyfriend and I love to share the oysters and get a bottle of The Oyster, a sustainably- grown, Vegan Sauvignon Blanc on the menu. We always leave with a huge smile on our face, excited to come back again! read more

We ate here this week and the food and service were outstanding. I had the duck special, and it was really delicious. The service was extremely good as well. This was our second time here and we will definitely be coming back. read more

Very good food. Expensive. Chef offers unique pairings. Would recommend but I don't think it will blow you away.

well we went there last season and it was a nice place we really were missing our favorite place on nantucket cioppinos that was bought by dune our dinner there last year was good and we headed back for lunch as well on the patio, this being there first season we enjoyed it but were not overly impressed also we have to say that after our initial shock or the remodeling from the ever cozy and warm cioppinos to a more modern look ( and really missing tracy the owner for his great warmth and hospitality) it started to grow on us.. we said that if we were back this season we would try it again, well its has jumped to the front of restaurant sceane in our opinion when we arrived on nantucket we were talking with others about restaurants and several mentioned that dune had really figured out the program and it was much better than last year ( and we liked it then) we had one lunch and two dinners thsi trip and everyone around us was commenting on how good the food wast and we have to agree, great cod, halibut, lamb chops and the 20.00 3 course special ( mid week ) was delicious our two friends each tried it and were amazed at the price and quality of the menu deal one note the new york steak is a little pricey but woth it we still miss our old favorite cioppinos and their great staff but we will keep dune on as one of the better palces on the island to dine at we did have a few other dinners out but due to the early season we were limited to our choices ( american seasons, oran mor**, 21 federal) give dune a try and hope you find it as pleasant as we did read more

DUNE was a "mixed bag" for us as well (echoed from an earlier post). To be fair, the chef is very inventive with menu and the pork with candied cherries and fresh summer grilled veggies was outstanding. The lemon tart with candied orange zest and blood orange sorbet with fresh whipped cream was out of this world. The ambiance was a little pretentious and certain staff.....a bit clumsy. Next.....!! read more

Top notch food and atmosphere. Staff is excellent. Best fluke dish ever.

I guess this place is really inconsistent. Maybe its because it is new. We went there for dinner and attempted to go there for lunch. First the dinner, and the good part. The food was great. The friend clams appetizer was crispy and savory. My scallops were seared to perfection and it was served on a juicy beef brisket was. The cabarnet was very good. My companions Atlantic Char over garbanzo was also very good. She fished the entire portion, which would be a compliment as she is mostly vegetarian and eats fish occasionally. Now to the bad part. Start with the host, who is probably under the impression that you don't need to greet a diner or smile. Our waiter was a older person and bit snooty. I almost said Very Good Jeeves! when he finished talking. Seemed a little out of place in a casual chic restaurant, should fit in a upper class club. But overall dinner was fine. The lunch a couple of days later was a non starter. We arrived 6 mins before their start time today. We were confronted with a surly host, who looked as if she had just rolled out of bed. She proceeded to inform us that that they open in 6 mins. Now this is a semi-open air place, covered with plastic. It would have been no bother if we had just plonked ourselves and waited for the 6 mins. Its shoulder season and they are not likely to have too many people for lunch. She muttered something like, " you wanna come on back" and then disappeared in the back herself for 5 mins. She came back with the same surly look on her face at which point we decided that sandwiches from Nantucket Gourmet sounded better. If a diner is going to spend $75 on lunch, you better add some service to your food, or you might join the majority of restaurants that do not make it into their third year. It would suck too as the chef seems to be quite good. read more

Had our rehearsal dinner here last weekend. There was a bit of a nerve-racking snafu the day of when we got a call confirming our reservation for 12 people on the night following what should have been our rehearsal dinner. The manager called us right back, though, and said we were good for tonight, as all of our previous emails had cited the correct date. We weren't seated in a private room that we asked to be reserved, which was a bummer at first, but the patio ended up being much cooler - it was kind of a rare Nantucket weekend in that it was quite hot and sticky, so this made a difference. Our waitress was phenomenal!! You could see she was nervous at first because it was clear they made a mistake with the date/private room, and she couldn't have handled it with more grace. The manager ended up making it right too, and the food was delish. Lots of deep breaths at first, but they made it great! read more

We had what amounted to a middle brow experience at a resto that has pretensions for something much greater. Our friends had carefully made reservations weeks in advance for a table outside but when we got there the hostess said without apology that they wouldn't be able to accommodate us there, we were led into the inside first floor dining room that was also beautiful but they said they didn't have room for us there either and proceeded to lead us to a really disappointing table in a sad room that wasn't built out like the rest of the space and looked into the bathroom. The setting was VERY disappointing and colored the whole experience. The food was good --a nicely cooked piece of swordfish, a nice steak, a not very exciting field green salad, a nicely executed capressi salad. The staff was good but struggled to offer much help to guide us towards a wine choice and then left half the table waiting for beverages. Good but not great and nowhere near warranting the high prices. read more

The concierge at the boat basin recommended Dune to us. She said it was new and modern , a nice change from some other restaurants on the island. It was exactly what we expected. Some other reviews said they found it really loud in here, we did not . Maybe the bar is louder but it wasn't anything noticeable and we went on a Saturday night. I got the risotto which I actually thought was pretty awful .It was just a plate of mush and weeds, oh, and some asparagus. My husband ordered the yellow fin and it was amazing. Perfectly cooked and amazing flavor. The menu overall had some great choices, looking back , I wish I had ordered something else other than the risotto. The serviced was good , very friendly . The only downside was they brought our entrees about 10 minutes after the appetizers so we felt a bit rushed there. When it came to the dessert menu , again, lots of great choices. We went with the fig bread pudding & maple bacon ice cream. Surprisingly great! Probably dine here next time we are on the island. read more
