Had dinner on 7/18/18. In general, food absolutely great but very expensive and gourmet portions. Started with spliting one.calamari appetizer. Good portion, Absolutely fabulous. No rubbery consistency, perfectly cooked, exploded with flavor. Then entrees of halibut and grilled scallops. Again, small portions but explosions in flavor. Desert was spliting one Dark Chocolate Pot de Creme with cocoa chips and creme on top. Very enjoyable. A great dinner but u must have appetizer and desert to b full. Price including 2 glasses of wine and tx, tip was over $200. Expensive but a tasty great meal. Get what u pay for I guess. read more

stumbled upon this place randomly while walking around nantucket. the menu is kind of small, but the food was awesome!

We loved Dune! The atmosphere, service and food were excellent. We had the three course restaurant week prefix and were very pleased with our meals. read more

Not good. The oysters were pre-shucked. The halibut special was accompanied by vegetables that tasted chemically. When the waiter asked if everything was delicious and I told him about the vegetables, the chef came out to tell me I didn't understand kaffir lime. Wow. Complete denial. Try to adjust your heat, rancid oil or flame appropriately. Perhaps something is throwing the gas or something else on the food. Overpriced. Never again. read more

Came here last summer with my girlfriend and were blown away. Came again this year and our expectations were exceeded. It's my favorite restaurant on the island. The decor is beautiful, the service is top notch, the cocktails are great, and the food is incredible. My girlfriend had a dirty martini, and I had a Pisco cocktail with lemonade. The flavors in both were balanced perfectly, and each was equally refreshing. We had oysters, which were literally as fresh as could be. I also ordered the hoisin bbq duck confit ramen, and was left satisfied and craving more! For out entrees, my girlfriend ordered the pork chop, and it was definitely one of the best 3 pork chops I've ever tasted. It tasted like a prime or heritage pork chop, and the fingerlings that accompanied it tasted better than fries. For my entree, I had a fresh tuna steak cooked rare. It cut like butter and was the best tuna I've ever had. The panzanella it came with was crunchy and added a nice contrast to the smoothness of the homemade mozzarella. Once again, Dune blew us away. It's our go to spot now, and we'll be here every year when we head back to the island! PS: NO ONE SHOULD TAKE NICK G.'S REVIEW SERIOUSLY. THE BATHROOM IS AWAY FROM THE DINING ROOM AND NOT WITHIN 20 FT OF ANY TABLES. AND THE HOST COULDN'TVE BEEN NICER. read more

I loved the food! It was super special and unique with great flavor combinations would highly recommend - all three dishes! Consider myself a foodie & my hometown has tons of great restaurants (Portland, Maine) Service was good. This was one of the best food places in Nantucket for us - (we dined out almost every night). I would go back in a heartbeat! read more

A very disappointing experience. We were seated on the empty "patio" and not even offered the much nicer, more upscale restaurant itself. Clearly that's the policy - to seat those not-in-the-know, on the patio if they can get away with it. When we noticed the opened bathroom window faced directly onto our table, we were admittedly a bit grossed out. The food was pretty forgettable and we were treated to the training of a new worker so the atmosphere wasn't particularly conducive to enjoying the food itself. Eh. Wouldn't go again, that's for sure. read more

I really think Dune deserves 3.5 stars....Mostly because the setting and decor are chic and comfortable. A converted townhouse in all neutral tones with earthy textures and elegant fixtures and finishing touches. There is also an awesome street level outdoor bar and dining area. We took the flight up the stairs to the main dining room and bar. Five of us decided to sit at the small L shaped bar so we could make a night of ordering different cocktails and sample almost everything on the fairly small yet intriguing, creative menu. The bartender, Rachel was awesome! Pleasant, knowledgeable about the menu, and completely capable of making cocktails for the entire restaurant and delivering fantastic service to all of us bar diners! She is the perfect blend of fun and professional....exactly what we were looking for! Now if only the food measured up to the setting and the service...... We started with local oysters on the half shell in a Tuscan melon, mint, champagne mignonette. The oysters were fresh but not nearly cold enough to be crisp and refreshing. I found that the sweetness of the melon left a surprisingly off putting after taste. Next we tried the roasted beets with goat cheese and pistachios. Red and gold beets perfectly roasted, sweet and just firm enough. Unfortunately the whipped goat cheese tasted more like sour cream or creme fraiche with horseradish......very strange. Not bad, just not what was explained on the menu. We also tried a fried calamari special that we all enjoyed, it was served over a vegetable purée and topped with a fava bean and corn sauté...delicious....a very inventive and successful way to serve fried calamari. The calamari itself was so tender, delicately fried and well seasoned. For entrees we started with the Swordfish with tzatziki and mint walnut pesto. Fresh, bright, beautiful presentation. It was served with saffron cauliflower, baby carrots and a beet vinaigrette. Each component was fine on its own, however the flavors didn't seem to come together as a cohesive dish. We also tried the grilled half chicken. Chicken was surprisingly the best entree. There was a very flavorful herb rub and a wonderful smokiness from the light char on the skin. The biggest disappointment was the Angus sirloin that was described as being a deconstructed steakhouse salad. The meat was not flavorful and I could not taste the smoked salt, which I love. Overall, just boring. We shared a housemade donut with bacon ice cream for dessert. The donut was warm and light.....but I couldn't taste the bacon in the ice cream..... There was a couple next to us eating the fluke and the pork chop entrees and really enjoying them....they looked great, but then again so did all of our food. Presentation was great all around but the flavor combinations just missed the mark. Nothing was bad, yet nothing was outstanding. Still a fun place to go have some drinks and share some small plates in a beautiful setting.....however, at this price point there are several better Nantucket dining options that are attempting this type of creative cuisine and actually succeeding. read more

Our first trip to Nantucket. Great reviews from locals led us here for dinner Service, presentation and food amazing! Only complaint- calamari and vegetable sides were too salty...didnt need it as each was fresh and perfectly prepared. Swordfish and pork chop was perfectly prepared. Homemade cwhite choc creme brulee with sorbet was perfect ending. We'll be nack next YEAR!!! read more

Wish we didn't even make the reservation in the first place. We come to the island every summer and decided to try somewhere new for a change, FIRST MISTAKE! We were greeted by the ever so rude host and lead to our table which was in front of the bathroom door. One chair would LITERALLY be hit with the door if opened fast. We requested for a seat change and were met with rude commentary from the pompous owner and told to "pretend it's not there". Sadly the terrible table placement wasn't even the worst part of the night. Two of our meals came out wrong and we had to wait another 30 minutes to get the correct food served. The best part was when the nice bus boy took the sub par food away from our table. Never will I ever go back to such a stuck up unaccommodating waste of money. So many better options on the island including the restaurant next door. SKIP IT. read more

Really enjoyed this place - best dinner we had on the island over 4 days. We sat outside - quaint and quiet. Nice wine selection. Food is Asian inspired and simply outstanding. If I had a other night in Nantucket, I'd come here again! read more

Amazzzzzing! Unique entree, soups, desserts and the service was impeccable!

had a really nice dinner here last year....this year it was not good at all. the halibut was overcooked. it was supposed to come with broccolini, instead there were green beans but they tasted like cardboard. when we asked the server about it she said the chef says there was broccolini, we just didnt see it!!! ordered two cosmos and specifically asked that they be mostly vodka, not sweet. they tasted like pink lemonade. when we asked to have them remixed with more vodka, the bartender shook them with more ice ( i could see from the table) and they were exactly the same. very disappointing for us. read more

Great choice for outstanding seafood with wonderful veggies on the side. Swordfish was awesome as was the special striped bass. Both grilled and seasoned to perfection. The grilled vegetables and walnut pesto made a wonderful accompaniment. Very good wine list but overpriced. Definitely worth a return trip. read more

The food was okish. However the table seating was not good. There was a toilet behind us, the door was regularly open. The service so, so. In Nantucket there are better restaurants, quality price wise , then Dune. read more

The menu has already changed since we were there a week ago! My sister ordered the Grilled Korean BBQ Shortribs and said it was the best meal she's ever had. I ordered the pan seared chicken breast and it was so juicy and tender. Another person in our group ordered Spanish Shrimp, Little Necks + Mussels and said it was good, just a little too spicey. Cozy atmosphere and superb service! read more

Dune exceeded my expectations. We sat outside in the covered patio and it was very comfortable and quaint. The waiter/waitstaff was always available and professional. The food was fresh and delicious. I had an amazing summer beet dish for a starter and a shrimp dish for a main course. Everyone at the table had something different which is a good sign of a diversified and appealing menu. Everyone raved about their evening and since I discovered the place on Yelp, I got the kudos. read more

3/4 for food, 1 for service. I went to Dune two nights ago to join some friends for drinks after they had dinner there. They had a reservation for 8pm. When I arrived at 9:30 I assumed they would at least be onto dessert or drinks. To my surprise they were just starting their first course. The waitress apparently took their order then forgot about it until an hour later when my friends asked what was going on. At that point she delivered the order to the kitchen. When they ordered a Pinot Noir and pointed to the exact bottle they wanted on the menu, the waitress proceeded to bring them a Pinot Grigio. Graciously the waitress offered to comp a dessert for her many blunders. But only one friend wanted a dessert so the other asked if she could have an after dinner drink comped instead. The waitress said fine. When they received the bill, only the one dessert was comped. Upon inquiry the waitress haughtily said "I only said I would comp the dessert" not "Oh I'm terribly sorry but it's kitchen policy to only comp dessert." but rather "I said this this and this and you petulant children should have known I really meant this and this". Although the few bites I tried of the seared tuna and fig bread pudding were mouthwatering, the service was comically bad, borderline offensive. I won't be patronizing this establishment again. read more

Had one of our better dinners on the island here. Beef Carpaccio and the Halibut over chowder are standouts. Pricey with entrees in the low $40s but worth it as the fish seemed very fresh and the service was flawless. Would definitely recommend and will return. read more

Excellent food. Presentation well done. Good variations on familiar dishes without going overboard. My wife is still talking about her dish a day later. read more

Memorable entrees--lobster bisque a must-get, as well as the salmon. Excellent service, and intimate atmosphere. Only negative to note (which isn't that big of a negative) is that it's $1.25 pp for bread service. read more

Went for lunch and had the lobster roll with fries. Lobster roll was good, fries were so so with some weird sauce (not ketchup). We sat on the patio outside which was a bit noisy with young kids crying. The inside of the restaurant looked nice though. read more

Dune was excellent. The menu offers a wide variety of flavors. The cold lobster salad with toasted peaches was refreshing. The crispy soft shell crab chowder was rich but not heavy. The nantucket fluke was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth with a savory lemon caper sauce. An evening special of veal porterhouse was very good. The crispy fingerling potatoes accompanying the veal were enough to bring me back. Service is on par with the high end Nantucket restaurants; Allowing space but overall attentive. The atmosphere is classy but relaxed. The sea grass wallpaper throughout brings a reminder of your day spent on the beach. read more

Overall this was a reasonable dining experience. I think I lowered the bar in general for Nantucket dining. A High price tag (ie more than NYC dining) does not equate good food or a NYC dining experience in terms of food quality, service or preparation. As a couple, we enjoyed the lobster gnocchi (best thing. Ever) and beet salad as appetizers. They were delicious. We had halibut and salmon for entrees and ended the meal with an almond creme fraiche cake and the doughnut. The doughnut was delish but the almond cake...not so much. The halibut was accompanied by a sauce that made no sense to me since it belonged on a steak or better yet, enchiladas, because It was similar to a bad mole sauce. Perhaps it was "an accident" because its description was not written in the menu. I transferred every morsel to my bread plate to prevent the sauce from contaminating the otherwise tasty dish. The restaurant decor was nice and the design was well executed. I like the modern spin on the old house restaurant theme. Service was mediocre but friendly. The bill was over $200 with 20% gratuity for two people and a $50 bottle of wine. read more

Such a great venue for dinner or a party. Dune hosted our office party recently and I can not compliment them enough. The staff was friendly, engaging and professional. The food was amazing, they really do a great job! I have been many times for dinner and never disappointed. Thanks, Dune team! read more

OMG! just came back from dinner...the food was awful! Was looking forward to trying it, ordered the warm frisee and pear salad for an app...completely tasted like smoke-seemed like the pan it was cooked in was burnt-inedible! Then had the black pepper papperdelle for the main..was in a soupy sauce had the same pure smoke flavor and was topped with ice cold ricotta cheese...not as horendous as the salad but pretty bad. The layout lends itself to much noise..although it wasn't too crowded I could hear every word spoken by people at the bar while eating. I'm giving this place a 2 because the bar is stylish and service was good. read more

By far the best service and the food was excellent too!! Dated interior ambiance was a 2 food and service was a 5!!! Milana was excellent server! read more

The food here was wonderful! The service was nearly perfect. We came early for drinks and I did get sprayed with Prosecco that the bartender dropped by accident. I assumed he might discount one glass of wine for soaking me, but no go. I would definitely come back. We had the Foie Gras followed by the Lamb Chops and a nice steak. Nice wine selection. read more

We didn't eat here but my 4 stars is for Anna the bartender - she ROCKS! Even though I am technically a tourist, I came here with my islander friends and she was super friendly and made THE BEST ESPRESSO MARTINIS ON THE ISLAND! No joke. She brews each cup of espresso on the spot which makes it super fresh and tasty. Thank you for a great experience, Anna! read more

Dune is great because it's got a funky menu. If you want to be surprised and delighted, look no further. If you're looking for a classic meal and large portions and a comforting menu, keep lookin'. Delicious meal and great service last night. Our table of 5 shared some kale Caesar salads and some side dishes to start along with the great bread and butter they serve. Had an amazing salmon dinner at the bar. Specialty drinks were refreshing, staff was very friendly, dessert awesome. Great little spot.

Pretentious. Food presentation was beautiful and good but no one who worked there was very friendly. They sat us at almost the worst table and were a little reluctant to move us. The two hostesses were not even cordial. After a $200 + check it would have been nice to feel welcome. Wine pours were SMALL! Try up the street unless you re into pretentious. read more

I made a reservation for my husband birthday a MONTH in advance spoke with a manger who claimed he it was made...
