There's outdoor patio seating. The restaurant is in Atwater Village and a very walkable street lined with cute shops to check out. I ordered the Falafel & Hummus Plate. It's SUCH a gorgeous spread, even in a takeout order they make it look beautiful. So colorful from all the pickled and fresh veggies. Dune just never disappoints. I tried it for the first time at work but recently dined in to take my bf's family. It was Easter and surprisingly they were open when a lot of restaurants around were closed. We ordered up front and got a number then headed to our table. Noting they only have outside dining, which was alright since they had heaters to accomodate the cold. They conveniently had a water dispenser as well. For a good price, we got the fried chicken plate and it made a good impression. There's a lot going on in the plate but the star of the show was the fried chicken of course which came out crispy and juicy also so flavorful. Paired with the hummus that comes in the plate, its comforting. I'd be hesitant to try anything else cause this dish had so many other side dishes that complimented the chicken and hummus. Some of the other guests either didn't finish their food or packed leftovers, I on the other hand, ate everything and my lunch kept me full for a good part of the day. Location: There is no indoor seating. This is a small walk-up and order kitchen. Remanicient of the old school ways we used to walk up and order tickets at a Movie Theater. Pretty cool idea. You talk into the speaker on the glass and the attendant speaks to you through the flex tube microphone. Real 80's & 90's feel. We arrived during lunch time- so plan accordingly. Food: We ordered and the wait was not that bad. But once other people arrived. They had to wait and wait and wait. Seating is limited and this place is delicious. This is easily one of my most favorite lunch spots in LA!! I ordered the Meze plate with fried chicken and falafel + a side of fries to share with my fiancé. Both came in huge portions! The food was so wonderfully flavorful and thoughtfully crafted. I loved how the plate was so abundant with a variety of fresh ingredients that all complimented each other. It honestly felt like a tasting experience of many different entrees and it's definitely different than any other Mediterranean plate I've had before! A group of us were in the neighborhood for lunch and had intended to get tacos, but there wasn't any seating over there -- so we looked for somewhere else where we could sit. Someone in our group recommended Dune and said it was amazing, so we were all excited to try it. The menu options are right up my alley -- I wanted to try everything! But I'd actually had some food at a work event just prior, so I wasn't that hungry. I got the shepherd's salad (with added sheep's milk feta) and an order of the house flatbread, which was AMAZING! Great char on it, very fresh and soft, nice bit of oil/grease. To top it all off, I got a Moroccan mint iced tea which really hit the spot. The rest of my group got bigger, fuller meals -- falafel sandwich, fried chicken shawarma -- and they all just looked epic. It's set up as a window you order from (no inside access, no restroom) and they give you a number that you take to a table of your choice -- but even still, the service we received was great. Food came out quickly, the staffer who took our order was very helpful. My only complaint was that the metal chairs in the seating area were really not comfortable at all -- but it's not really the kind of place you'll sit and linger for a very long time. Tried Dune based on a friend's recommendation! Got lunch here on a weekday and it was the perfect amount of fresh veggies and protein I needed to continue the rest of my work day with high energy! I got the Hummus & Grilled Chicken Plate. Let me tell you - I've tried other Mediterranean food before but never like this! Dune really takes Mediterranean and Levant street food to the next level with its unique toppings and flavor combinations. I especially loved the pickled pepper they had on this plate (I love spicy peppers) and their use of seasonal, organic greens & herbs. It was so refreshing! For Dune (which I was excited to go to because of the name and my love of the movie, although I haven't read the book) you can park at either a meter in Glendale Blvd or a few blocks away in the neighborhood. They'll likely have a line if you go around lunch, but the line moves quickly. If you're getting it for here, you order at the counter and then you get a number to bring to your table, which is first come, first serve, and all outdoor on their sidewalk patio with individual tables with umbrellas in the center. For a single plate on a Friday, it took 35 minutes, so not the best place to go if you're in a rush. They do not have restrooms, even for customers, which was disappointing especially with how long you have to wait for your food. The lemonade with fresh mint leaves seems really popular, but when I asked about it she said it had a lot of sugar so I decided to pass. It would be cool if they had a no sugar added option! The lamb on the lamb plate ($18) is described as like a burger patty. While they don't do substitutions, they can remove things if you have an allergy. For example, they removed the yogurt for me since I can't have cow dairy. If you're gluten free, they can swap out the flat bread for cucumbers. I feel like I didn't know the best way of eating this and I made the mistake of mixing it all together. DO NOT DO THIS UNTIL YOU TRY EVERYTHING INDIVIDUALLY. I disliked the red onions and pickled items (there were way too many onions) and it ruined the entire dish for me. Heads up, the olives still have the pits. We came on a Saturday night and sat outside. We had no idea there was inside seating! Street parking could be difficult, but we got lucky as we caught someone leaving. Service was friendly and they gave us recommendations and time to decide . I decided on the hummus and falafel plate which was huge! I went here with my Lebanese friend, she knew immediately this wasn't authentic middle eastern food- after extensive googling we found out that they're Israeli owned which makes sense now. The $20 faux hummus plate features one teaspoon of hummus accompanied by a plate almost entirely of undressed, dry, unseasoned greens. The tabouli was entirely made of large, poorly cut-up chunks of herbs. It was like just biting into a handful of parsley. The brisket gyro was some of the most flavorless brisket I've ever had - was hard to believe it could ever be so bland! The "rosemary lemonade" literally made us laugh our asses off because not only was it just a regular lemonade with NO taste of rosemary whatsoever, it was garnished with MINT! just wrong, misleading and bad. And the WORST PART, is they made us pay AND TIP as soon as we sat down!!!! I've NEVER experienced that anywhere, should have been our warning sign to leave. Taste: the lamb sandwich was pretty bland this day, but the chicken was very flavorful. Experience: I don't remember Dune doing table service before, but now that they do, it seemed to take a while to get the server to come back to us. I brought my parents for what I thought would be a quick order, grab and sit. But it ended up taking so long and we were starving. I think they may have reduced seating area to make way for Sinizki, and now you can't just order at the window and sit down. We were ready to order right away, but when we got to the window to order, the gentleman informed us of the changes, so we then waited to get a seat, and after we were sat, we had to wait for the waiter to come back to take our order. And then getting the food took a longer while than I expected. Tbh, I feel like they're going for more of a restaurant feel, and it felt like it should be nicer, but I have been spoiled by their fastness in past visits, and it's just a small patch of sidewalk, so I preferred their more casual window. A perfectly sunny, 70 degree afternoon in January in Atwater Village, what more could you ask for? This spunky little area has so much to offer and what more than some phenomenal Mediterranean food. This little window --among a busy street marked with boutique after boutique-- boasts some of my favorite Mediterranean food of all time. Although my review is more than likely unneeded, (the pictures do it justice, trust me) Dune has a wonderful variety of fresh foods to select from that do not disappoint and/or lack any appetizing appeal. Upon arriving, there is usually a full patio of people with whom are all indulging on the wonderfully colorful and beautifully plated dishes that are flying from the kitchen to the plant and umbrella lined dining area outside. Without even browsing the menu yet, you can be certain by the view alone that you will be leaving satisfied. A small but swift line along the side walk typically exists to order, but rest assured that it will fly by, as your attention is pleasantly coddled by the perfect LA weather and wooed by the very apparently happy and unique demographic of LA diners. Once you have decided on your dish and ordered accordingly--fairly priced for the large portions and given the cost of living at the moment, I might add-- you are given a table number just like many other similarly styled and seemingly standard casual LA restaurants in 2024. You must take your number and then wait next to a sign for a table to open up. This usually doesn't take too long, but in my experience there has been a slight 5-10 minute wait, especially on the weekends. Pro tip: If you order a Moroccan tea or lemonade, the wait is even more bearable because you get it before leaving the register. After about 15-20 minutes, your food is brought to you with some silverware and napkins, plated perfectly--almost too stunning to eat. Upon digging in, it hits all of the notes and checks all the boxes: Fresh greens, fluffy pita, sour cabbage and onions, grilled to perfection meat, savory hummus and falafel... wow, wow, wow, wow, WOW. Upon finishing, you leave feeling refreshed and satisfied just as you had hoped you would ordering this type of food. Despite feeling full, you are left wishing you had more room because it is in fact, THAT good. My partner and I shared the Meze plate with the grilled chicken and it was beyond plenty, as we both left fulfilled and satiated for hours. The chicken was juicy, yet crispy. It pulled apart with ease but did not give pause about the likelihood of it being finished. The robust flavor is deeply infused with the meat and not just external. The falafel too was moist and crispy at the same time--wonderfully savory and seasoned to perfection, full of flavor and totally complimentary to the dish as a whole. My favorite way to consume? Take the pita, add some hummus, cabbage, pickled onions, greens, and falafel or chicken like a little mini wrap. The olives are good too, but beware! They have pits. A stop at Dune is always a pleasure. I look forward to coming back again and again and again. Only 4 stars because despite the food + LA weather/ambience being undeniably incredible, Dunes staff could stand to be a little more kind and/or approachable. They aren't so much as rude, but perhaps a little curt and cold. I can't say I blame them though, it's tough being in the service industry. Either way, I hope to never see this place go. read more

The portions are huge and they do not compromise in flavor or quality. This is def a casual spot where you order at the window and hopefully (crossing my fingers for you) there are some empty tables and seats for you (and your party.) The fried chicken shawarma sandwich and chicken souvlaki were both fresh and hearty. My only concern is... HOW DOES ONE EAT THAT THING?! Do I hold it like a sandwich? Do I use a fork and knife? I ordered the Lamb Hummus Plate, which I loved, of course. The plate included pita, garlic sauce, their sauce, hummus, a variety of vegetables, and lamb. It was delicious and every item on the dish paired with each other, it's healthy and filling as well! I highly recommend Dune if you're ever in Glendale looking for some healthy and filling food. There were tables by the side walk that people would just chill there or waiting for their orders from the restaurant. It was a very hot and sunny day, there were also aren't any open table that's shaded. So while my husband went to order the food, I just casually asked someone if I can join him at the table since he was alone. We had some small conversations. It was very nice. It's also the friendly LA I know! Anyway, our food was amazing. I got the lamb plate and my husband got the chicken since he'd tried lamb before. I thought the lamb was a bit on the salty side from what I like but it was still very good. The hummus was good. The pita breads were great. The salad was good too. Everything was good except for the olives. I am not a olive person and it was very bitter and salty. Yuck! Yes, I did eat one. That didn't bother me though. I've waited a while to write a review about Dune. Now that things have settled I can be forthright about why it took me so long to write this. I went there in person to place a pick up order. I was in the area and offered to pick up lunch and Dune was picked because the falafel sandwich. Speaking of waiting, I had to wait a lot for my order a lot. There's a sign that tells you that it will take some time but I went up twice to check on my order and even the person behind the counter said it should've been ready. My quick detour for lunch turned into a near 90 minute detour with traffic. When I did arrive I opened up the order to find that my order was incorrect. I got two fried chicken sandwiches when one of them was supposed to be their famous falafel sandwich. I called back and their options were to come back and get the correct order or get a refund. I opted for a refund. A day goes by, then two then three nothing. I ended up just filing a dispute with my bank. It wasn't until January that I got the word that Dune reversed my dispute. I had to call back and talk about what was at that point a months old order, explain the situation and then have to call back as the refund hit snags. Eventually, I ended up speaking with the GM there who sent me a paper check-by this point a literal season had changed between the time of my order and the refund. The food was good, not sure it's worth the wait and of course given the circumstances with my experience I won't be coming back. read more

This place is always a bit busy. I waited patiently at their order window while many different employees made eye contact with me but didn't approach the window until about 7 minutes or so. The order and pick up window are next to each other and it was chaotic during my visit as there were many couriers waiting for their orders. I mentioned I was there to dine to which he responded to go ahead and grab a table and they'll take my order at the table. I asked the cashier what would be the fastest way to get food at this point and he mentioned to go. After partnering with the other associates that had seen me waiting he told me to grab a table and someone would be right out. I orders 2 sandwiches, a mint tea, and some fries.
