I have had my fair share of hummus and tahini and falafel and baba ghanoush I definitely can say this one is tasty. I didn't understand why it was so crowded when we got in, but when I saw people who have eaten there before, they are regulars, they tell me the food is consistently good. They did not steer me wrong. The food is quite tasty. The portions are not very big however but we did order appetizers to make the food more filling. The only thing I would hope the RESTAURANT would do is be more clear on the details as to what is in the food. If you look at the menu, it doesn't really list what you're getting in detail which most restaurants are supposed to do that so it's not really clear what's what. Great place to have Sunday dinner in LA. Went to Haifa for our last meal in Los Angeles. Busy, but not so busy on a Sunday night, so we grabbed a table for two by the window. Parked across the street. Geovanni brought us fresh pita and small bowls filled with delicious meze to enjoy while we waited for the main entrees. Israeli pickles. Spicy Moroccan carrots. Cabbage salad. Their pita is amazing! I got the Moussaka. Fried eggplant with ground beef. So good. My husband ordered the chicken shawarma which was so juicy and delicious. Each entree came with two sides. The Israeli salad is such a classic staple. So fresh and tasty. The mushroom veggies with mushrooms, peppers and soy sauce was addicting. The majadra with rice, lentils and onions was perfect to pair with the chicken shawarma. When we mentioned my mother-in-law's falafel and hummus to Geo, he brought us a sample of their falafel and hummus to sample. Although I've yet to find a falafel that beats hers, the falafel at Haifa Restaurant was pretty close. A hit paired with the hummus. Would definitely come back when in LA. I was in Egypt recently and has been looking for a place to make authentic baba ghanoush, tahini, and hummus the same way I had it in Egypt. I have found it at Haifa. The hummus was just devious, creamy, just melts away after one bite. The baba ghanoush was savory with a hint of lemon, similar to the ones we ate numerous times in Egypt. Also ordered the Israeli salad, it was so simple and healthy, chopped of small pieces cucumbers and tomatoes was perfect. Our server handed a sample taste of the Turkish salad and boy was it good, it also had a flaming taste to it, so beware. The falafel was crunchy on the outside and soft inside, so delightful, it almost transported me back to my time in Egypt. Thank you for making these authentic dishes. The hidden gem of all hidden gems!!!! My friend and I just finished a 90 min dance class and we were HANGRY! Thanks to the great reviews on here we decided to give Haifa a try. Boy are we glad we did! This place is small and quaint but has a great menu selection. We were trying not to order the entire menu everything looked so good so we decided on matzo ball soup and then I got the chicken shawarma sandwich. Then I checked in on Yelp and discovered the great reward of a hummus and falafel plate! While we waited they brought us a whole bunch of sides (pictured) which we quickly nibbled on. Everything was great and flavorful. The hummus and falafel plate which was one of the BEST hummus and falafel combos I've ever tasted. Plus the pita was so fluffy and warm. Besides my mom's homemade recipe, their matzo ball soup is now my (second) fav! Carrots, zucchini, potato and onion in there plus the tastiest matzo balls. Omg. Truth be told, once our entrees arrived we were FULL!...but still managed to eat the fries that came with the sandwiches (which was a surprise that they were part of the order) so we boxed up our sandwiches which makes me so excited to eat it tomorrow. So goooooood!!! I've lived across the street from this place but just kept forgetting to get food from here. I finally stopped by and the only thing I regret is not coming here sooner. Their food is insanely good and fresh. Staff is also great and I was lucky enough to be helped by someone named Gio (Giovanni). It's a little small inside but they do have outdoor tables but heads up, if you decide to eat outside it can be loud for some because pico is a busy street. I can't wait to stop by and try more food from their menu because so far everything I've had has been absolutely delicious. read more

! Ta'im me'od! So many great items on the menu. Kibbeh, musaka, schnitzel, shawarma, falafel, Yemenite soup etc etc. Not enough people in our party to try it all. Popped into my local Israeli restaurant on pico Boulevard near Robertson called Haifa. In the early 80s when I bought my first house in Beverlywood, my family used to hang out with the two brothers who ran this restaurant, Yosi and Benny. I've moved back into the hood, but Benny and Yosi are no longer operating the restaurant. However, the menu has really never changed, and I ordered the combination salad which consists of in my custom order: hummus, Tahina, baba ghanoush, Turkish salad, and the traditional tomato and cucumber salad. I am gluten intolerant, so I cannot have the pita bread and have to get gluten-free pita bread in order to enjoy this wonderful mix. I also on this occasion had the combination salad with falafel. Wasn't sure I was gonna like the falafel but they gave me eight pieces and the falafel was delicious. Throwing all the ingredients into a pita bread pocket creates an explosion of creamy, crunchy flavors blending in harmony. If only the world could get along in the same manner. read more

I might get hungry thinking about my recent and delicious meal at Haifa. Pro Tip: They're open for Christmas. They have an extensive menu but not very expensive prices. It's a good value for the food, and the food is yum and yum. The hummus and falafel side dish is great. The hummus has a silky quality to it, and though I'm not an expert, seemed a bit like a thickened tahini. This is a good thing IMO. The falafel is flavorful, not too salty, and not greasy. All very good in my falafel book. The pita is very good, fluffy and warm. The white bean soup is good - though it's red (unlike the online menu's picture). Hot, hearty and goes well with everything. I recommend getting a few different dishes and mixing and matching. For an entree, I tried the Chicken Kabob Plate - and it's excellent. The smoky grill flavor is just right, and the chicken was cooked perfectly. I love moist chicken and this is moist chicken. Plus, it comes with your choice of two sides. Although the fries look good (and our server is a big fan of them), I had to try something that I didn't know. Majadra, for instance. It's rice with lentils mixed in and topped with grilled onions. OOh! Yes! Also, the grilled vegetables are so good. Sounds maybe boring, but they're nicely sauteed with soy sauce, of all things. Mushrooms, zucchini, tomatoes, peppers. It's almost not fair to review Haifa after just one meal because their menu goes on and on. Seafood, Poultry, Beef. Mousaka, meatballs, shakshuka (two different kinds!). Still, I loved the meal. The servers did a great job, covering the large storefront. They were apologetic at times, but really, they had nothing to worry about. My only complaint is that there was no way I had room for dessert. For that, I apologize, but really, I'm not sorry at all. I can't wait to return. read more

Was craving some good Israeli hummus and found this place. I got chicken Schwarma with some falafel and hummus on the side. I have to say the side dish of pickled vegetables was a nice touch, and it went very well with the rest of the food. I basically inhaled the food and was very satisfied with the hummus too. Love this place! We were at the Museum of Tolerance and were looking for a nearby kosher restaurant that served Israeli food. I ordered the Hummus with Foul as an appetizer and the Ground Beef kabob as an entree with fries and magadra rice. Everything was fresh and delicious and the portions were large. It was my first time trying foul and I really enjoyed it with the fluffy pitas and various side sauces like red hot sauce and green shug. The kabobs were well seasoned and flavorful.
