Came for lunch this past weekend with a group of friends, and while reservations weren't available to book online for some reason, we were able to get a table right away on a Saturday afternoon. We ordered a ton of food: seaweed salad, pork gyoza, chicken gyoza, tom yum XLBs, green beans, pork XLBs, beef noodles, cucumbers, har gow, lobster siu mai, pork/shrimp siu mai. Lots of food that we shared family style. I've had pretty much everything before and it was still tasty but I don't know why but everything we had was lukewarm/room temperature. The XLBs didn't burn my mouth and honestly didn't have much soup in them at all. The siu mai , green beans and the har gow were my favorite bites of the meal. Given the location, the pricing definitely reflects it. $18-21 cocktails, $11 beers, $15 for 4 pieces of siu mai, it's definitely a spot that is a splurge meal versus a regular rotation meal for me. In an area where the Asian food options are lacking, it definitely does what it needs to do to satisfy the dim sum type craving. read more

Yelp Stars: 2.5*** Second time trying Dumpling Time and now I remember why I did not come back! For a dumpling spot, it was probably one of my least favorite restaurants. The dumplings were not great tasting, not as juicy as other dumpling places, and they were overpriced! The only thing good was they came out fresh. My family and I ordered a bunch of food here. The item I enjoyed the most was probably the broccolini, which in my opinion, tasted good without much seasoning. The second item would be the chicken fried rice and then the scallion noodles! My coworkers told me their wagyu fried rice was really tasty, which was why we came here. Found out they removed that from their menu so we ended up trying wagyu beef gyoza and chicken fried rice instead. Honestly, regular potstickers had better flavors than the wagyu beef gyoza. Nothing special and definitely not worth it! A common favorite dim sum bun that many young toddlers enjoyed would be the custard bun! Even with the colors of the buns, my toddlers did not like the trio buns! The trio buns consists of custard, taro, and green tea. Both my young toddlers who loved eating buns, wasted half of the custard and taro buns. My toddlers loved noodles and fried rice! These were ok here. It was good but tasted like many regular Chinese restaurants except they charged so much more for a small plate. Then they included the SF mandate fee which drove up the cost for everything. I would much rather cook Chinese food myself than eat here again. Service was ok.. it was a slow day and not a game day! Naeon, the bartender knows our regular drinks we get even before we order them. He is always listening and enjoys his practice while still greeting his guests that walk up to the bar. Cindy, the General Manager was rushed and flustered after a Valkyrie's game. She told me she had a table for us outside and would help us get seated. She left us outside with menus and disappeared inside to greet more guests. Then she came over and asked us what we wanted to order. No mention of where to sit until I asked. We order, I go take my two year old son to the restroom and we return. Cindy's back is to us as we approach our table. She is making space for more guests and throws chairs down the aisle. They slide around 6 feet across the concrete. The chair strikes my child in the face! He's crying. Guests are surprised. I'm speechless. I confront her about it and she says she "slid" the chair. And guests should "know it's busy". We leave and she continues to lie about how she slid the chair. It was thrown across the ground 6 feet. No accountability. She offers us some ice and we leave. Your managers should not be throwing furniture and blaming children. Unacceptable behavior. This incident occurred on 2026-07-18 at around 8pm. Multiple guests around us saw it as well. read more

We ate dinner at Dumpling Time before the Warriors game. We got there early, so it wasn't busy. We were seated right away and given menus. We started with some hot green tea. We ordered the Beijing noodles, BBQ pork Bao, pork XLB, and chicken gyoza. The green tea came out first, and we let it steep a bit before trying it. It was very soothing. Our food came out quickly. The Beijing noodles were really good. They are wide noodles with ground pork on top and cut-up cucumbers. There is a light sauce mixed in it. I added a little chili oil, and that made it taste better. The BBQ pork Bao was okay. The inside had sweet BBQ pork inside. It's a bit too sweet for me. You get three Bao per order. The pork XLB was my favorite item. You get 8 per order. They had such a wonderful savory flavor, and the amount of pork inside was a lot. The only thing I didn't care for was that each XLB was in a mini tin. That made it hard to get out. So when you tried to pull it out with your chopsticks, it gets stuck on the bottom and rips the bottom of the Bao and spills the liquid everywhere. The chicken gyoza were also good. They had a red-colored wrapper, and the filling was tasty. It came with a dipping sauce that was very good. Service here was great. Our waitress was very nice. Wanted to grab some food before heading into a Chase Center DUB's game and decide to give Dumpling Time a try. Have eaten at the nearby Division Street outlet before and enjoyed it. This location, however, seemed more rushed - which I get. Feeding the masses before a game is no easy feat. The food tasted bland, especially the Beijing Noodles. A splash of the table top soy sauce helped a bit, but that too, our group felt was also on the "low sodium" side. And the final comment I'll make is that everything our group ordered came out tasting pre-made (exception was the Beijing Noodle) - lukewarm and bland. The drinks looked delicious, so maybe it's more like bar food. Nevertheless, you can't beat the convenient location. But I think I prefer the Division Street spot. read more

It's $17 for 8 pieces of Tom Yum xiao long bao, plus 6% SF health care mandate which is almost $20 for take out. The menu didn't describe it as spicy, so I was really surprised when I ate it that it was spicy! The description is coconut broth so I thought it'll be slightly sweet. The spiciness overpowered all of the coconut and I didn't barely taste the coconut flavor. Please correct your menu to list spicy because some people are sensitive to spiciness like me. They increased the price from a few months ago but added 2 more pieces cause I think it used to come in 6 pieces. However, the original pork one and pho one is $20. I was here because of the Warriors Halloween event and my friends wanted to play the scratchers. However, all 3 of us loose and didn't win anything from the scratchers. It's always tough when you're bringing work colleagues to a new place because there's going to be dietary restrictions, and you need food that will please all sorts of people. I'm happy to report that Dumpling Time is a hit. Everyone enjoyed the meal overall. It's a solid spot for a casual lunch or dinner with coworkers. We had vegetarians, so we got one order of the crispy tofu, but I have to say it was just okay. It was more breaded than crispy in the way I prefer from more traditional restaurants. The shishito peppers, though, were a surprisingly great appetizer to our meal. But uhhh sadly these aren't vegetarian due to the bonito flakes. I think it might have said so on the menu so, just watch out, or ask them not to add the bonito. One thing I'll never get over is how they use little aluminum tart cups for the xlbs. I guess it works great if you are with people who don't know how to use chopsticks so they can just lift their XLBs out... but I feel that they're a detriment to the experience. But don't mind me, remember, this is a work dinner. All in all, Dumpling Time is a decent option if you're in the Mission Bay area and want something quick and satisfying. My parents were visiting SF and had never been to Dumpling Time, so I was looking forward to bringing them here and showing them around the area. This location by Chase Center is super convenient -- easy to get to by public transit or other means. With other restaurants, shops, and (usually) events going on nearby, the neighbourhood is fun to explore, but it also means the restaurant can get predictably busy on game or event days. Fortunately, this visit wasn't one of those days, so we didn't need a reservation (for 4). We ordered a bunch of dishes to share family-style, which is definitely the way to go since there are so many goodies to try. My go-tos are the pork XLB, lamb dumplings, and the trio of buns for dessert, but tbh everything I've had here has been solid. read more

The place was packed. The Laver tennis event was going on , we sat at the 700 pm match and got to watch it outside. It's was very exciting for Fritz beat Alcaraz which made it extra special. The outdoor seating was nice to see the big screen out front of chase. Inside is nice with plenty of tv's and it's comfy. We went Inside later. So first I would like to give a shout out to Jose, the bartender. Damn, you make good drinks! That was the best dirty gin martini I have ever had! I dont understand what you did, but I will be back soon so we can discuss. Lol. Then the second round of cocktails were awesome. Loved the French 75! Now our server was also great. We were celebrating my birthday and ready for a good night so we were extra happy and possibly on his nerves. But he handled us perfectly. He was so sweet and patient. The food comes out so fast which is great if you're short on time for an event at the Chase or somewhere else nearby. Everything we ate was delicious! Checked out Dumpling Time at Thrive City before the Hot Wheels Monster Truck Event and had a pleasant experience! The vibe here is modern and energetic--perfect for grabbing bites before or after an event especially when everything inside is mostly fried. Service was smooth, and the menu offered plenty of tempting options. I did notice some of the items from before at their original location years ago are no longer on the menu like the large XLB. Our orders were tailored with kids ensuring it met their allergies of eggs, nuts, and soy. What we ordered: * Pork XLB (Xiao Long Bao) - Absolutely delicious! The skin was just the right thickness, holding in all that flavorful broth. We ended up ordering multiple rounds because they were that good and the kids actually wanted to eat! * Vegan Fried Rice - Really well done. I love coming here before Chase Center events! I've been here many times, but it's been a year and they added new things onto the menu! XLB Sampler (5/5): This comes with four types of XLB with 2 pieces each. I recommend this if you want a bit of everything. Pho (5/5): I think this one blew my mind. The juice exploded with flavor as it felt like I just drank a spoonful of pho soup. It also comes with pho spices on the side Korean Jiggae (4/5): Not as flavorful as the pho, but still worth a try. It tasted like a hint of goguchang. It also comes with a side of kimchi. Tofu Mapo (5/5); Even though it only comes with two big pieces. I really like the exquisite flavor of the mapo. It was spicy, but not too spicy and had excellent flavor. The tofu was crunchy on the outside and soft inside. However I wish to tofu could soak in the maple a bit better. Scallion noodle (3/5): Comes with a fried egg, but thought it was very basic. We came here on a Sunday night at 6:10. Parking is weird bc everything along Terry Francois's Way is no parking on Sat & Sun night even though there was no game on. There were two other tables when we entered. In this era of Dumpling restaurants Dumpling Time sits above the rest if you can keep the names straight (Time, Home , Dynasty, King, etc). As a local Asian person I do find these restaurants getting out of control especially with prices. I mean, 4 lobster dumplings tor $17!!. I normally go to the one on Division and 7th but this was a birthday and mostly with non-Asian people. Parking on a Sunday cost me $7 whereas 6 blocks away would have been free. The food came out reasonably quick. There was a unique selection and we got some classics as well as some of their twists on others. I really liked the Chili Pork Dumplings and the Chicken Gyoza which were priced about 100% markup from my main place on the other side of the City where I get my local dim sum. They did mix up our order with one of the two other occupied tables but that was okay. We got extra food 6 adults and two kids came to $190 without drinks. Would I come back? I tried the XLB sampler and enjoyed it. It came with different soup dumplings, each with its own unique flavor -- pork, wagyu, tom yum, pho, and kimchi jjigae. It was such a fun way to taste a mix of traditional and creative fillings all in one order. Some were richer, some were spicier, and others had a comforting broth, so every bite felt like a little surprise. Disappointing lunch here. Came here with my coworker for a weekday lunch because she was curious in trying it. I always get all the dumpling restaurants confused, since they all have almost the same name. I will not forget this time. This is the second restaurant to their original in the Design District, which I had forgotten that I had dined at a few years prior and did not like. I guess they also have several other outposts in San Ramon, Santana Row, and Berkeley. They only dish we really liked was the Shrimp toast, which had good crunch and soft chew to it. Shrimp and aioli were nice too. We also ordered the Ha Gao, XLB, and Chili Pork dumplings. The wrappers for all three of those were SOGGY, which was EXTREMELY disappointing. The Ha Gao came super late too, and you would think that something that took so long to arrive would at least arrive delicious. Nope. I will say that coming on a Monday for lunch, there was no wait, and we walked right in. The location is nice, being right at Thrive City, and it's fun to sit in certain spots in the restaurant and people watch. I absolutely love dumplings. I say that with gusto - I'm Taiwanese, so trust when I know a good soup dumpling when I see one. I first tried Dumpling Time many years ago when my place of work would often order out there. Then this location opened, so my friends and I decided to go here for some dumplings. We came on a non-game or event day, so the area was pretty quiet. When we went in, there were maybe only two other parties there. Service was SLOW. We stood in the front for maybe 3-5 minutes before we ended up getting someone's attention. They did a bland wave toward the restaurant, as if to say "sit anywhere." Not a hello, a welcome, etc. We chose a booth/table and were given tea and water. We ordered xiaolongbao, green beans, chili pork dumplings, har gow, and some gyoza. The XLB came out lukewarm - im used to the soup being PIPING hot, but these you could bite right into. The green beans were overcooked, the har gow rubbery, and the gyoza and chili pork dumplings were the only things that were piping hot and delicious. We ate pretty much everything, but compared to other restaurants and even previous experiences, I was EXTREMELY disappointed in this location! I came here with a friend right before a concert (located next to Chase Center so very convenient food option). My friend and I were excited to try the pho and tom yum XLB, but they said they were out of the pho XLB and said if we wanted to try it we should order the combo XLB (which to me indicates that the XLB are not made fresh-to-order or even fresh day of, they're probably prepackaged / frozen and reheated up). That's fine, my friend and I opted for the combo XLB, which comes with 2 each of pho, tom yum, original, and kimchi XLB. We also ordered a separate order of Wagyu XLB (which comes with 8 pieces), chili pork dumplings, and eggplant bao (which comes with three). We both thought that everything lacked flavor--the Wagyu XLB tasted best/had the strongest flavor thanks to the fatty meat. After the Wagyu, we'd rank 2) pho, 3) tom yum, 4) original, and 5) kimchi, but none of the XLB were standouts including the Wagyu. The dumplings also lacked flavor, I could barely taste the chili / spice and had to dump their chili oil on the side. I think worst was the eggplant bao - I had to drown it with their chili oil on the side due to the lack of flavor. Biting into the bao as well, the look is unappetizing at best. I visited Dumpling Time at Thrive City for a weekday lunch to catch up with a friend I hadn't seen in a while. The restaurant was very quiet and had a classy, relaxed atmosphere. With a view of the outside area, I could imagine that if it were bustling, the ambiance would be even better. We tried a few dishes, and here are my thoughts: Tom Yum: 8 in an order. Flavorful with a bold mix of tangy, spicy, and savory notes. It had a comforting warmth, though it leaned a little on the saltier side. Chili Lamb Dumplings: 6-7 in an order. Juicy and delicious, with a satisfying kick of chili. Not spicy in the convential sense, but had some chili oil crunchiness. I like lamb and thought this was a good pic. Shrimp & Pork Siu Mai: 4 in an order. Classic and well-executed. The dumplings were plump, fresh, and had a good balance of shrimp sweetness and pork savoriness.Typically go for shrimp just because I find that it works well in this format, nothing that crazy or special about the order. Fried Rice: I would pass on this next time. I'm not a typical fried rice/noodle person though. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, but more of a "glad I tried it" place rather than a must-return spot. Food isn't anything super stand out, but it is still good. Good dumplings, good service. Terrible music. Why do we need to listen to awful pop techno while we eat our lunch?

I've been a big fan of Dumpling Time in the Design District for years, but my girlfriend who works near Thrive City complained it wasn't very good. We finally tried their Thrive City location next to the Chase Center... and it is nothing like the original. We had the Wagyu XLB because, at $20, they were oddly the same price as the standard pork xiao long bao. They were awful. The only thing I love more than wagyu is black truffle, but these were inedible - we didn't finish the order. And they left a terrible taste in our mouths, so we had to get more food at Chase Center just to wash out the taste. Maybe they had gone bad? We thought about asking for it to be removed from our bill, but were too embarrassed. The shredded cabbage salad with spicy mustard dressing and chicken was tastey, but literally drowning in dressing. There half a bowl of soup left at the end. Highly recommend ordering dressing on the side. the salad probably had more calories than the entire meal given the dressing level. Beijing noodles were our favorite item, I'd order that again. Overall, very disappointing and not at all reminiscent of the dumpling place I once loved in the design district. We will definitely not come back here before games or events at the Chase Center. read more

(When away, they had watch parties in the plaza.) He had signed up for the free event and had an extra ticket. (I believe thru Eventbrite?) Luckily, he got here early and grabbed a table on the patio at Dumpling Time! I joined them a lil later. I've been here a few times prior for food and drink and always had a blast. Since we were watching the game and I arrived later, I just drank this time around. It's really fun hanging out and watching the game. It's a great view from the tables outside. My friends and I were in San Francisco to see Jo Koy at the Chase Center and decided on dumplings for dinner since it looked to be the least packed restaurant in that area. Dumpling Time Thrive City is located inside the food court outside of Chase Center. They have you line up outside and they will not seat you unless your entire party is present, but you are allowed to stay in line until it is your turn -- we had to wait for 1 of our friends to join us so we weren't seated right away, but there wasn't a super long wait once she did arrive. We shared the Pork XLB, Chili Pork Dumplings, Crispy Vegetable Spring Rolls, Chicken Gyoza and Edamame and everything was very good! I especially liked the Gyoza - the filling was very fresh and had great flavor. The inside is pretty big, but I remember it being very humid inside which was uncomfortable, but the service was fine, nothing special and the food came out very quickly - we had plenty of time to eat and still make it inside the comedy show with time to spare.
