What a find! This place was just lovely. Wonderful ambience, warm inviting patio, great music; perfect for a date or private party and great for our little family as well. The service was just incredible; accommodating my rigid keto diet and my daughter's gluten allergy with radiant smiles and kind consideration. It made dinner feel like a luxurious vacation. And the food... everything we had was just, wow! Beautiful presentation and one thing yummier than the next. Can't wait to return!

The pork adobo and Muay Thai cocktail were both excellent! I'd highly recommend those two. There is only outdoor seating in the back. It's technically outdoors but the area is fully covered and well-heated (didn't even need a jacket on a chilly SF evening).

I went to Mestiza for the first time with a couple friends on a weekday night. We were on a bit of a time crunch so we made a reservation, but it actually wasn't too busy that night, so we probably didn't need one. I was excited to try Mestiza since I'm always on the lookout for good Filipino or Filipino-fusion spots in SF--and it did not disappoint! We each got a soju cocktail and shared a bunch of dishes family-style. To keep things simple, we went with the small pamilya meal: lechon bites (and an extra small plate of house fries), stonefruit salad, bisek silog steak, braised pork adobo, garlic rice, and veggie pancit. Everything was really good--I especially enjoyed the lechon bites and the bisek silog steak. The only thing that threw us off a bit was the pancit noodles; they were more spaghetti-like when we were expecting thin vermicelli rice noodles, but no biggie. Because we were short on time, we didn't get to hang out after dinner and enjoy the cute, heated space or try more drinks, but we're already planning to come back with a bigger group to try the kamayan feast one night. Definitely looking forward to returning for that soon.

I recently had a private event at Mestiza for 35 people. I requested a Filipino Kamayan Feast and open bar. The outdoor seating area was closed up and there were heaters turned on so it was comfortable. There were welcome drinks, chips and finger foods as guests entered. Mestiza provided a microphone so people could make speeches or sing a song. We connected our Spotify to their sound so we picked our own music. As people sat down, trays of food came out filled Filipino delicacies over bamboo leaves that included shrimp, BBQ chicken, pork, lumpia, veggies, curry, monggo soup, and fish with head over mounds of rice. Kamayan means eat with your hands and that is what we did. Pictured is how the food was presented and there were plenty of food. They provided drinks made with soju and beer and wine. Mestiza decorated the place with blinking Christmas lights and decor. The food was excellent. Give Kamayan a try and you'll soon never forget it!

Stopped by Mestizo for dinner right before heading to a Warriors game, and it was a great pre-game meal! The restaurant is conveniently located and has a nice, modern vibe. We ordered a few classics to share: the Lechon Bites were satisfyingly crispy, and the Lumpia were flavorful and perfectly fried. The Chicken Skewers were juicy, and the Pork Adobo was savory and tender--a great traditional dish. Everything was solid and hit the spot, making for a very enjoyable experience. Taking one star off because a couple of dishes were slightly on the saltier side, but overall, the flavors were spot on and the service was quick. Definitely recommend for a tasty Filipino meal in the city!

Amazing experience! My partner has been trying all the different philipino spots in the city and this one is definitely on top. The adobo was cooked perfectly and the pancit was traditionally delicious. Service was even better! I want to come back with a group for the feast which I saw at another table. The platter looked spectacular. Ohh also, really yummy and creative drinks

If you come here, get the feast! This was such an amazing experience. It includes a welcome drink, appetizer, feast, and dessert. You get to enjoy so many different flavors and dishes. Bring a jacket just in case since it is only patio seating that is open air. They do have heaters though.

Waited for 15 mins before server says anything to us. He then tells us you need to pre-order the Kamayan Feast. When you reserve on Resy, there is no option to pre-order the feast. So I sent them an email via their website 2 weeks ago. But no response. So we 4 showed up for a surprise birthday party tonight. And no Kamayan Feast. What a huge disappointment. But maybe we were lucky to escape. The place had such a negative vibe and it was hot. The food looked pretty meh as well. Mean people ate just terrible really, and definitely do not need to be working in the service industry.

Needed a quick meal before a concert at oracle and Mestiza was just a few blocks away. The front of the restaurant is very unassuming, and it feels like you've incorrectly walked into their back kitchen. You are then brought to the back with the cutest patio area. Our party of 3 was seated quickly and we chose to do the $75 dinner deal for 2-3 people. It ended up being more and enough food for us, and honestly a great deal for dinner. Chicken skewers- 5/5 delicious juicy chicken Cesario salad- 5/5 was looking forward to the spicy chopped salad but they ran out. The Cesario salad was a pleasant surprise! Fresh, crispy, and slightly acidic. Mushroom sisig- 4/5 a little dry but still had a wonderful sauté Pork adobo- 3/5 very hefty, a little too salty for my taste. Got a side of rice for this but would probably need extra extra rice to absorb all the sauce Pancit small- 5/5 actually quite large!

Came here with a group of 6 and we got a pretty private experience in the back patio. Good: - Beautiful back patio area! I loved having such an attentive staff - The food came out pretty quickly - maybe about 10-15 minutes for our appetizers, and all the family plates came out together - The family platters were great for sharing, my favorites were the curry, the noodles, and the appetizer chicken lumpia - Solid portion sizes though the plates look small - The ube yogurt was super good - I had a whole one and it wasn't too heavy - The vibes are good here, it's super modern and upscale Bad: - A bit cold outside on the patio and no heaters around Overall this was a nice place to go for a group gathering and have a lot of privacy to have a deep chat without being bothered! Not too expensive if you all share too.

Ate at Mestiza recently and loved it. The food is bold but approachable. Nothing feels fussy or overdone. Every dish makes sense the moment it hits the table. The Filipino and Mexican influences come together in a way that feels natural, not forced. I learned that the owner, Deanna Sison, describes her vision as "Cali-pino", (California meeting Filipino), and in my opinion... she nailed it! That vision feels clear, confident, and incredibly well executed. You're not trying to decode the menu. You're just enjoying excellent food. Service was friendly and relaxed. Our server knew the menu, gave solid recommendations, and provided a great vibe for the evening. The room has great energy. Lively, warm, and comfortable. It works just as well for a date as it does for a group dinner. Mestiza feels confident in what it's doing. That confidence shows up in the food, the service, and the overall experience. Already looking forward to going back.

I came here before a baseball game at Oracle Park since it was close by. We got there right when dinner started and were seated immediately. There were about ten people in our group, and they were able to accommodate us. All the seating is located on a courtyard patio behind the restaurant. The restaurant's back wall is decorated with a colorful mural, and the decorations have an earthy feel, which adds to the bright and welcoming ambiance. Overall, the space is super photogenic. We ordered a good amount of food since everyone in our group was Filipino and curious about their take on Filipino cuisine. The flavors were spot on (though with slight variations), with a good salty, sweet, and sour balance. However, the plating portions/ elements varied from plate to plate. We ordered multiples of the same dishes, and each one had a different amount of meat or vegetables, which affected the consistency and sometimes the flavor. The pacing of the meal was also a bit off. Some of the main dishes arrived before the appetizers, and the rice (which you have to order separately) came out after several other dishes had already been served. As a result, a few items got cold before we could enjoy them properly with rice. I also tried their version of a Muay Thai, which had pandan in it. For any Filipinos out there, it kind of reminded me of buko pandan, but with a fun alcoholic twist. I Still, this is definitely a spot worth checking out. The staff is friendly, engaging, and loves to make you laugh. I thought it was a fun place to see Filipino cuisine incorporate more vegetarian and vegan options to their menu, since that is typically not what Filipino food is known for.

Did I like trying out this place? YES! Will I come back just for the food? No Ambiance: chill, intimate but homey 4/5 Service: staff were so nice! No complaints! 5/5 Drinks: Kalamansi sparkler---not a good balance of sweet and sourness of kalamansi. It taste more like lime than kalamansi. (2/5) Food: Food: Lechon bites---NO crunch. Very "gummy" and oily. Flavor is too strong for appetizer. (2/5) Sweet heat salad---taste like a crunch achara (3/5) Shrimp gambas---no "filipino" taste to this. Taste plain like sauteed shrimp in tomato. (2/5) Veggie pancit---absolute tragedy! Sauteed SPAGHETTI with some veggies! The noodles were so wrong, texture and flavor are not there(0/5) Bistek silog steak: well cooked, medium-medium rare. Bistek taste but thicker consistency. Good food! Though I would have loved it if they served it with caramelized onions. (4/5) Price: paid $80 for 2 people. No alcoholic drinks. (4/5)

She surprised me with a reservation at Ox + Tiger and I was immediately impressed. The restaurant only seats 8 people, making the whole experience super intimate and personal. When Japanese and Filipino flavors come together, you get such a unique fusion cuisine inspired by chef couple Ej and Hatomi. Dinner was more than just a meal it was a 2 to 2.5 hour storytelling experience about their menu creations, how they met, and the grind behind keeping their dream alive. The menu changes monthly, so even if I told you what we had, you probably wouldn't get the same dishes unless you book now lol. It's a 3-course menu with optional add-ons, and definitely unlike any restaurant I've been to before. As a Filipino, I'll admit I can be picky with Filipino-inspired food because we grow up spoiled by our parents' cooking but this? I was genuinely impressed. Think familiar flavors recreated in their own creative and elevated way. Highly recommend.

Situated in a small, 8 seat counter, dinner is intimate with dishes being prepared right in front of you. The menu features three courses, an appetizer, main, and a dessert - with the option for an additional add-on. Our meal featured a focus on fish, in particular mackerel and monkfish. Each of the dishes were deconstructions of familiar concepts such as Caesar salad and a California roll, but enhanced with new flavors. The mackerel was sublime, perfectly charred exterior with a still raw interior. The monkfish was tender, coated in a ginger, wasabi sauce next to crispy sweet rice and avocado. The dessert was by far the most unique, being a miso dashi, mushroom cherry coated coconut ice cream with a tupig-like mochi on the side. The savory, sweet, sour combination completely catches you off guard but becomes increasingly addictive the more you eat. So bold and absolutely memorable. Ox&Tiger takes familiar concepts, breaks them apart, then fuses them back together with a flair of Filipino and Japanese flavors. This results in dishes that are utterly unique and innovative. Additionally, with menus and playlists designed by family, this truly feels like the epitome of a family-run business and a meal cooked with so much care in front of you. This is absolutely worth a visit and an opportunity to try new flavors you've never experienced before.

Even before this most recent visit, I'd enjoyed intimate dinners here for its creative, Korean-Thai-inspired menu that always packed an impressive punch of flavor but, dare I say, the brunch might be even better. The steak sandwich was absolutely phenomenal, with the steak seasoned and cooked to perfection and pairing beautifully with the charred onion aioli, plus a side of expertly crisped smashed potatoes that were so addicting. The steamed mussels were sumptuous and packed with umami, and I loved the two large bricks of toasted sourdough focaccia that were perfect for sopping up every last bit of the delicious dashi broth. But the pièce de résistance was the custard French toast, which I can only describe as the love child of bread pudding and tres leches cake as it was crispy on the outside but uber moist on the inside, custardy, and simply divine. Kothai will be deeply missed in the neighborhood, but I'm excited to see what's next for chef/owner Sung Park and will be first in line for whatever future project comes next.

It seems like this place is an asian fusion brunch place incorporating french dishes into thai/asian themed dishes which is up our alley. We decided to get the Alcatraz Escape and the Brioche french toast which were recommended by the wait staff. The staff was generally friendly and accommodating but I can tell they were swamped and stressed out with all the people they were trying to serve. The food itself tasted decent, the Alcatraz Escape had a tasty flavor which incorporates tom yum paste (sweet, sour, tangy flavor) into their scramble with about 4 shrimps. The side of crispy chicken was good but nothing that stood out to us. The brioche was soft but there wasn't much flavoring besides the fruits and caramelized banana. It was served with evaporated milk which made the brioche soft but not adding much flavor to it. The price however was quite pricey. For two dishes as a side we paid around $78 with tax and tip.
