I'm being generous with three stars because both the server and bartender did apologize a few times for the lack of service, the delay in seating us, and the long wait to get our bill. We had a 7:00pm reservation on a Tuesday and arrived at 6:55. We were told it would be about ten minutes, so we waited at the bar and ordered drinks. I also asked for water, which didn't come until I asked the server again. He apologized and said it would be another ten minutes "or so." Another 20 minutes passed. By 7:30, our group of six was hungry and confused why we made a reservation at a place that enforces late/no-show fees but couldn't seat us on time. We were eventually seated at a four-top, with the plan to expand once the neighboring table left. After they did, we ordered a variety of dishes including the beet and cucumber, yucca, salad, udon, kale pesto rigatoni, jerk sliders, and a tofu pineapple skewer. Some dishes came out quickly, but others lagged. The salad had an unexpectedly strong spicy kick, and the tofu skewer was burned. We were still waiting on the udon and rigatoni, and after another 20 minutes, they finally arrived--both pretty underwhelming. The server apologized and kindly comped a birthday brownie with ice cream, which was delicious. Best part of meal. Unfortunately, he seemed to be the only server working the entire restaurant, which explained a lot but didn't improve the experience. When it came time to leave, we had to flag down the bartender to get our bill, then waited another ten minutes while she tried to merge the bar and dinner tabs. We ended up spending a very long time there, mostly waiting, and left tired and frustrated. I probably won't be returning. Most restaurants have at least one vegan item so I'd just do that if making a birthday night out for several different food type people.

We really enjoyed everything that we ordered here and definitely would return the next time we are in this area. We ordered the kale pesto rigatoni, yucca sticks, platano salad, a mock tail and two drinks. My partner said the drinks were mixed very well, with the alcohol blended well. The other dishes were very good -- my partner said he couldn't tell the difference with the vegan sausage in his rigatoni and regular sausage. The platano salad we had was also very refreshing. There was sweetness from the tropical fruit and then the perfect balance with the avocados and other greens. The yucca fries were a small portion but also very fresh. Overall we were very happy with our meal here and would like to try other items on their menu.

I came here on a Meatless Monday and was so impressed with the food! Everything tasted great, and the restaurant itself is super nice. We started off with some of the happy hour drinks, and then split some of the cocktails. I wasn't overly impressed with the drinks, but some of the cocktails sounded really interesting so I'm eager to come back and try them. For food we got the following: jerk sliders - comes with two, but they were able to add a third since we had three people. These were really good and the slaw was SO fresh. I don't normally like slaw too much, and this was easiest the best I've ever had. Same for the miso mayo - surprisingly amazing! roasted cauliflower - comes as a giant piece, with sikil pak (a pumpkin seed dip). They paired together nicely and everything was cooked perfectly. oyster mushroom skewers - these were my favorite dish, they tasted almost like chicken thigh, but were just so perfectly cooked and had a unique flavor garlic butter udon - so good, definitely garlicky, but overall balanced and tasty. kale + walnut pesto - we added the Beyond sausage, and this was a pretty good dish. I found the pesto to be a bit more vinegar-y tasing, vs basil-y, but it was still really good. Prices were definitely reasonable given the quality, and portion sizes were great for sharing. Service was also great, and the restaurant feels cozy. The music was kinda weird, a bit slow and sad. I would definitely come back, and would recommend this place if you're looking for a solid vegan option.

Aiso is a very cute date night spot. I was there on the day of Haloween 2025. This spot is great for people watching and the vibes are on point. I really liked the sushi (beet and cucumber sushi esque dish) Moz sticks were good but not very memorable. I think I also had the udon and that was the star of the evening for me. Friendly service, awesome people watching spot. Go check them out!

Really good spot for vegan food and drinks. Tried a lot of dishes, the standouts being the oyster mushroom skewer (best one imo), impossible jerk sliders, and garlic butter udon. The udon part might be a misnomer since the noodles were really thin but i really liked the balanced rich, creamy taste. Only thing I thought was more on the ok side was the pineapple+ tofu skewers - the texture was great (especially the tofu was firm and chewy, more like paneer) just the sauce was too ketchup - y for me. I think just a ymmv thing depending on preference. Dessert was impressive too especially considering it was eggless. We got the chocolate cake and passion fruit sorbet. Even if you're not coming for food it's worth coming just for the drinks menu. Favorites were their Espresso martini, and flight in the am for a more fruity, sweeter option. Nice dimly lit interior with date night ambiance, and both table and bar seating (they also have blankets) and a couple tables outisde. Good service too. Will definitely be back!

Came here to try out this restaurant with a few friends for our holiday dinner! One of my friends is vegetarian, so our other friend had picked this vegan restaurant for us to try! All the "meat" they use is either impossible or beyond, so all the foods are vegan. We got the tofu pineapple skewers, butter garlic udon, cucumber kimchi, pesto rigatoni, and yucca sticks to share! Everything was definitely very delicious; thought some items were a bit on the saltier sides, but still very good and tasty nonetheless! The menu is packed with different items and is not too big, so it's not too overwhelming. They also have a variety of drinks that I would love to try next time I go! The ambiance was so beautiful and I really loved how the interior was decorated. They also decorated a bit for the holidays which I think is always quite nice! The service was also very good as well - the door doesn't always close fully but the servers were always attentive and ensuring it was closed! It was very helpful as we sat by the door and it's been pretty cold these days. Overall, I'll definitely be coming back to try new dishes and drinks, and bringing new friends to try it out as well!

AMAZING 1000/10 - the food is delicious, fun ambiance with good music (perf lighting when it's dinner), friendly staff, and strong drinks! Love that it's all vegan. The mushroom skewers - BOMB. Tastes like the charcoal grill - and chicken - we could order like 3 of these. Garlic udon is always a must- could order multiple of these as well!! I love the beet tartare as well, it's fresh and flavorful. My partner and I have come here 3x- Valentines, and bringing out of town friends. They're also dog friendly! Will def come back

Beet tar tar. My second time here. It's so good to have a vegan restaurant in the Castro.

The food is very creative & I've enjoyed it both times. The guy behind the bar & other staff are really real & pleasant. Service is great. It's a romantic, fun place. This dish is sooo good! I will come back for this often. One thing that blows my mind, is almost no bar in The Castro carries San Francisco's Skyy Vodka! What's up with that. Conner the bartender is keeper.

The menu was concise and unique - there were a range of dishes we ordered. Good to share with a group. Starting with cucumber kimchi salad which was delicious - I think consuming a kimchi dish before dinner helps with digestion which made the whole experience great. Next, we got the squash soup 8.5/10 which was warm and creamy. I'd definitely go for seconds. We asked them to split the big bowl for us into 3 but they ended up charging us for three separate small bowls which was a bummer. Nevertheless the flavor was great. After that we got the slider stuffed with the impossible patty - I was not a fan so I'll rank it low. The tofu pineapple skewers were delicious and the tofu texture was very close to paneer. The sauce it was served with was very good. For entrees, we ordered udon and pesto rigatoni - both were delicious. The pesto rigatoni flavor profile was very leafy and healthy but it grew on me with every bite (perhaps because of kale). It tied very well with the nutty texture and cherry tomatoes. The Udon was wonderful - the portion size was less but the flavor was delightful. Overall, I enjoyed their udon, pesto pasta and squash soup a lot.

I wish I could give half stars but I'll be generous and round up. The fact is, the food is good. Solidly good. The space is lovely. Service is kind and lightning fast. On an early Sunday evening, we were in and out in under 45 minutes all told. It's just wildly overpriced. I got the mushroom skewers which commanded the price tag of an entree, but was the size of an appetizer. They had a nice char to them and a simple teriyaki sauce-like favor, they were juicy and hot, but... So small.

Aiso is a purely vegan restaurant/bar in the Castro. It adds sophistication to the neighborhood certainly with a chic, dim atmosphere during dinner service and a fun playlist. A BAR / restaurant vibe for sure. But the food menu is no afterthought, with unique dishes and flavor combinations. I tried the jerk sliders. The patty itself was well seasoned and had a nice char to it. But I would have preferred the dish with more of a pineapple punch. The slaw was rather lacking in pineapple flavor. the miso mayo had a good flavor but there wasn't enough of it. The dish had potential, it just needed some tweaks. I didn't try other offerings here but I hope they grow the food with bold flavors.

Does SF think it's Portland all of a sudden? Just kidding. Portland has like 5 vegan bars. We could never compete. But at least we have this one now. I would recommend this spot for a date night or special occasion because it's very fancy and has a nice ambience. It's a little pricey for my taste though ($45 for 1 drink and 2 mushroom skewers). I could probably get filled up for less money at millennium to be honest. (See my menu pics for prices.) But that being said, it's a great location! And millennium went and moved across the bay like the abandoners that they are haha. They staff are very friendly, street parking was easy to find (and is free after 6), and it's right around the corner from a locally owned hardware store (Cliffs), so you can pick up items for that repair project you've been putting off. In addition to being completely vegan, the majority of the menu is also gluten-free. Instead of marking the items that are gluten-free, they mark the items that contain gluten.

Love that a new vegan spot opened in the city- the menu is small but mighty. Each item has a very unique flavor profile so you know they put care and thought into the recipe development. The pumpkin seed puree on the cauliflower was one of the best things I've eaten. Service was friendly and the ambiance is cute and cozy. They also have a full bar which is rare for a fully vegan spot to have, from my experience. Definitely worth another visit!

I was craving a refreshing craft cocktail and got one with the Green Emmanuelle. I liked the cardamom in the Beauty Mark as well that my partner ordered. We ordered shishito peppers and mushroom bahn mi sliders. The mushroom bahn mi sliders were amazing - the quality fillings and taste of the soft bun - I was unexpectedly hit with a bite of spice from maybe jalapeño seeds left but didn't sour my experience. The shishito peppers ended up being extremely spicy as well, those are usually just a few spicy and not the majority. The roasted lemon and salt was a wonderful combo but just too spicy to eat. However, the server very kindly removed it from our bill without us asking. We order the crostini because we were still hungry and that was an absolute hit. Delicious med-soft crostini with luscious berries and sweet honey. I didn't care my hands got sticky as it was soooo good! The chips are seasoned like Doritos so there's a nice flavor but the seasoning is in consistent. Some pieces were SO salty and some had no seasoning. The salsa is pretty rich as well. When our ceviche came, I ate a bite without the seafood and it tasted fishy. When I tried the actual seafood part, I knew it went bad because it had such a strong odor. The octopus texture tasted like it had freezer burn, then was over cooked, sat too long after it was cooked because they had to make the fries. Everyone in the bar was weirdly attractive and dressed well for San Francisco and that added to the vibes for sure too lol. Friendly bartender and good cocktail menu, they also have a kitchen for small bites. I am definitely coming back!

After a park day at the Presidio, we wanted to move the party and we decided on Bar Darling. It was a Saturday afternoon and it was jam packed. Luckily we were able to get some space in the alley way for us to order drinks from our server. We've been on a Friday around 5pm on another day, it wasn't as busy, so definitely a great place to start and maybe end the night. In a time where craft cocktails have gotten really expensive, Bar Darling offers craft cocktails (their signature cocktails) all for $14 each. If you know Peacekeeper, you know there's a lot of thought and imagination that goes into their drinks and it definitely shows here. My favorites were the Mama J (tequila based) and the Jaji (mezcal based). The aesthetic and vibes of this place is 10/10. Definitely great for a group of friends and/or date night!

The main bar area was…read morecompletely full when we arrived, but the staff helpfully directed us to an additional seating area in back, worth knowing if you're planning to stop by on a weekend. I'll note that the promotional photos online give a somewhat misleading impression of the ambiance. The actual interior is considerably more modest and utilitarian than advertised. We ended up seated outdoors beneath one of those industrial heat lamps, which was blasting uncomfortably hot air until our server kindly switched it off at our request. That said, the service was efficient and attentive. Our drinks arrived promptly despite the crowd, and the staff managed the busy room well. Nothing particularly memorable about the experience, but perfectly adequate for a casual evening out. A solid four out of five stars.
