A group of six of us dropped by Dancing Yak on a Saturday night after seeing that the wait at Burma Love was too long. They were able to seat us immediately around 6PM. It was surprising that we were able to get served so quickly on a weekend night, but actually about an hour later, the entire restaurant was packed so we got lucky. I actually couldn't believe that I hadn't tried this restaurant until recently given how many reviews it has. Between the six of us, we ordered a variety of dishes to share for the table. Some of the things that we ordered included the butter chicken, the garlic naan, the coconut naan, plain naan, along with the chow mein with shrimp, pork belly small plate, the kale chaat, the daal bhat, and the chicken momos. From this list, my favorites were the garlic naan, the chow mein, and the kale chaat. Next time, I'd skip over the pork belly as it wasn't anything special. The coconut naan wasn't my favorite either but was nice to try something new. I also didn't really enjoy the daal bhat though I know it's a popular dish of theirs. To each their own. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely come back. I don't crave this type of cuisine too often, but when I do, this will definitely be the spot to hit up. read more

It's Himalayan/Nepalese food, and it's got plenty of gluten free options (a must, and always looking for tasty places with gf items). They are labeled as such on the menu, making ordering a breeze. We ordered the kale chaat, as recommended by many Yelpers. I'd agree that it's worth an order. It's a powerful punch of flavor along with a mixture of textures, really lovely! We also ordered the okra, daal bhat, and momos (partner said these were just okay). Don't let the modern ambiance and forest green let you think that this food isn't homey! The kale chaat came with perfectly crispy kale that resisted sogginess. The lamb shafta was well seasoned, and I loved the soft bao that came with it. The pork belly was good, but simpler than other dishes. Really nice decor throughout with decent natural lighting with windows + accent lighting. Plenty of seating for small to medium sized 2-6p groups. Their simple menu makes it pretty easy to order. Between me and my friend, we were full off of two entrees, two orders of momos, a small plate, and sides of rice and naan. My friend's a new vegetarian so there were plenty of options for the both of us. Overall, I thought the food was mid. Great cheesy naan and kale chaat. The kale chaat was balanced and refreshing. Great to share and start with. Apart from that, nothing else really stood out. The momos were tasty but small and kind of salty. Nowhere near as good as Bini's Kitchen, but they were good. In hindsight, I'd order three servings and treat it as the main course. Skip the curries. The goat curry was flat and salty. I ended up just wrapping the goat meat cubes in naan and left most of the gravy. I can't speak to the Baigun Tarkari but my friend ate less of that than I had of my curry so think what you will. However, at about $50/pp after tip, it's not at all a bad small plates dinner option for SF. Just didn't meet my expectations. Solid 3/5 read more

Great place for groups. Parking is super difficult in this area so I recommend rideshare or walking. We had a group of 11 with vegetarians and carnivores. Both diets were well satisfied. Since our group was quite large (~20 people), we were presented with a fixed menu, served family-style, of the greatest hits - including spicy cauliflower, kale chaat, momos, butter chicken, saag paneer (to name a few). Each dish was presented beautifully and balanced the other dishes in terms of flavor and texture. We started off the meal with the refreshing watermelon feta salad, which was followed in quick succession by the kale chaat, chili chicken/paneer, and momos. While it's difficult to choose a favorite, I really enjoyed the kale chaat - the combination of creamy, sweet, and tangy flavors, plus the crispiness of the kale was superb. Our main dishes included the butter chicken, baigun tarkari-roasted eggplant, saag paneer, and aloo cauli. These dishes were harmonious together, and I soaked up every last ounce of sauce with garlic naan. Our server brought out a coconut-cardamom-rose flavored dessert (I didn't quite catch the name), which was the perfect way to end the meal on a sweet note.
