Stopped by on a Wednesday night and it was a busy evening. The restaurant was well lit, clean, and had high ceilings with a second floor loft with additional space (perfect for larger parties). We walked in to a full restaurant where we waited for about 15 minutes. Our family ordered the following: 1.) Shanghai Pan Fried Buns 2.) XLBs 3.) Shanghai stir fried rice cakes 4.) Five spice beef noodle soup 5.) Rice roll 6.) Red bean pancake Everything came out piping hot and super fresh. We wanted to order the sweet soy milk but it was already sold out. Our family's favorites were the Shanghai pan fried buns, XLBs, stir fried rice cakes, and the red bean pancakes. The rice roll was decent, but could use a bit more pork floss (yuk sung) filling. My MIL was not a fan of the preserved veggies as they were too salty. All in all it's a decent rice roll with the traditional fried cruller center. The pan fried buns were the perfect combo of fluffy bao and crispy texture from the pan sear. These were generous portions and filled with a solid amount of soup. The XLBs were quite large and juicy. They were flavorful and filled with soup. The stir fried rice cakes were perfectly cooked and sauced. Our little one loved the bouncy chew. The portion size was perfect. The five spice beef noodle soup came in two options (thick/thin cut) and had a decent amount of noodles and seasoned beef, but the soup itself was a bit salty. This is a late post, but we tried Dumpling Bites about a month ago, and we were really impressed with their food. Cucumber Salad - it was surprising very flavorful, and crunchy. You should be prepared to have garlic breath after! Sticky Rice Roll - this is the main reason why we came here. This is something I ate growing up and it is extremely hard to find a place that sells this. This is exactly how I remembered it to be. Filled with meat floss and Chinese donuts. I usually like to eat this with chili oil, it brings it to the next level. Shanghai Style Pan-Fried Pork Bun - this pan fried pork bun was outstanding. Perfectly crisp on the bottom, and juicy and flavorful on the inside. Be careful, that juice is hot! Also, this is how pan-fried pork bun should be; not a fan of the new style of "pan fried" pork bun. Abalone and pork steamed XLB - this is a first I've seen any place serve this, and we had to try it. The wrap is at a perfect thickness, thin enough where it doesn't feel like eating a bao, but thick enough to hold the hefty content inside without breaking. There are small pieces of abalone inside for the flavor and to add some good texture to it; in combination with the pork, it was a delight to eat. Steamed Pork and Napa Cabbage Dumplings - great flavorful and again, the wrap was amazing. You can't go to a dumpling place without ordering their dumpling! Overall, this place was amazing, might be my new favorite dumpling place in the Sunset. Solid new addition of a Shanghai cuisine restaurant to the SF food scene. Favorite items are the steamed pork soup dumplings, Shanghai-style chow mien, salt and pepper chicken wings and Shanghai-style pan fried pork buns. The highlight and reason to come are the soup dumplings, which are equally delicate and full of flavor. Good ones are hard to find in SF. I'd say these fall short of Din Tai Fung but are plenty good and slightly better than the ones at Hon's Wun-Tun House. Will also note I tried the Dan dan mian/noodles, which were quite underwhelming, largely due to the bland sauce (noodles themselves are fresh and well-textured). Soy milk ("dao zheng") was also very average. With very limited quality Shanghai restaurant options in SF, I highly recommend this for anyone craving soup dumplings. Only other complaint is the dining room is consistently cold (bring a jacket). But something I can overlook due to the delectable food offerings. read more

First off - not sure what the 1 star below is saying about sodium overload. That was definitely not our experience here. A traditional XLB place on Noriega! The dumplings are made freshly every single day, and you can taste that in the thin chewy wrappers when you pop one of them soupy bad boys into your mouth. We tried the original and the crab ones, and I personally liked the traditional OG ones a bit more, but both were super flavorful and super juicy! We ordered the pork potstickers per the worker's recommendation and was surprised that it was one of my favorite dishes that night. It is crispy on the bottom, filled with super juicy and flavorful filling, paired with a perfectly chewy but not too thick wrapper. We also ordered the salt & pepper fish fillet, and that was a huge hit as well - crispy batter and perfectly seasoned. We had a friend that doesn't eat pork and he was still able to enjoy vegetarian potstickers and many other dishes. Lastly, we ordered so many dishes but ended up only being around $20 per person!!!
