My fiancé made a reservation for the course menu for my birthday. Overall it was a lovely dinner. The ambiance was very nice and perfect for date nights, there were many couples. The food tasted good, a little too salty for our preferences but still super tasty. I absolutely love thai food. Personally, I felt the this menu was a bit lacking. Thai food has so many dishes beyond just curry or tom yum, that highlight the variety of complex flavors, techniques and ingredients in thai cuisine. But I think this is a good rendition of classics for the average person. The thai cheesecake was a nice surprise, not of fan of the garnish which I believe is candied fried shallots. The taste paired with the texture of the cheesecake makes the experience feel like you ate a block of cream cheese that went bad in the fridge. I would still come back to try other dishes or seasonal menus to see how else they can showcase their elevated take on thai food. Service wasn't anything exceptional, they bring out dishes and leave you to enjoy your evening as much as possible.

Went to Hed 11 for their $40 lunch special. Overall, we really enjoyed the food but my daughter's ribeye was served flavorless and well done... which would have been fine except the table next to us got the same dish and it was cooked to a more reasonable medium rare. The pork set was delicious - each dish was flavorful and interesting, the flavors very much complemented each other. The braised pork ribs were very tender and served in a flavorful Thai broth. It was good enough to where I poured it on my rice when I'd finished the meat. The trio of rice was unique and delicious - each one uniquely textured and flavored. The pork jowl was my favorite - just enough chew to have a pleasant texture in a flavorful sauce with fresh herbs. Yum. The cheesecake was tasty, the passion fruit puree was intense and tasty. However the fried shallots were a little odd - with the passion fruit they were balanced but the shallot flavor kind of lingered after the meal. 30 mins later I could still taste them. I'd likely scrape them off next time. Service was attentive but a little slow - our lunch was about 90 minutes and I feel like it could have been paced quicker. Overall, good and I'd go back as it was fairly reasonable for the quality of food

3.5 * Cute spot to have lunch right by Japantown & very affordable! About $40 for 5-courses. Parking surprisingly easy on a Sunday. All the dishware quite unique and made it feel a little extra fun but posed some challenges to eating... hard to drink the last few drops of soup given the funky edges of the bowl. Starter & dessert were amazing, the main courses were fine. Ordered thai teas as well but I think you can skip that- wasn't as sweet as I normally would like mine

4.5 I came to Hed 11 for their lunch course. We had a reservation. The service was pretty good except our waitress put the menu on top of the chopsticks, the part where you put it in your mouth, so that was kind of gross. The orders came out pretty quick. I ordered the Beef Set while my friends ordered the Pork Set and the Duck Set (from the Holiday menu $49), and a Thai Tea ($7). First we all had the Grilled Hokkaido Scallop with Thai rice noodle and coconut curry as our starter. I thoroughly enjoyed this dish. The scallop was soft. The curry was a nice addition to the dish. It made things interesting. Next, our set meals arrived. The Beef Set consisted of: Angus beef steak with spicy mango salad - Good. Nothing to complain about. I enjoyed the mango salad, but felt that it wasn't spicy, which was good for me. Pork ribs in spicy and sour soup (Tom yum) - Enjoyed the pork. Wasn't a fan of the Tom Yum but I don't really like Tom Yum in the first place. Sautéed Cabbage with crackling pork and dried shrimps - This was fine. 3 Colors of rice - Enjoyed this! Dessert was Thai style Mor-Gang Cheesecake with fried red onion and Passionfruit puree. I didn't mind this but I really hated the type of spoon they had for this dessert. It was a small wooden spoon which was really ineffective for cutting up the cheesecake to eat. My friend wondered about the purpose of red onion on this dish? Lol. My other friend with the Holiday Duck Set got this interesting Banana Ice Cream which wasn't bad. While I enjoyed this place, my friends did not. One of them hated the bowl that the Tom Yum came out in, which was really hard for her to get and scoop up the soup and she said her bowl was kind of leaking? The other said Hed 11 was just OK for her, and that she felt that the veggies weren't very fresh. I thought the ingredients and food was quality, so I had a different experience. I could see what she meant though with the cabbage?

Hed 11 was an amazing experience for me and my dinner companions. It's best described as an authentic yet refined take on classic Thai cuisine, where every detail, from the food to the pacing, feels intentional and well executed. The service staff was excellent throughout the evening, and the cadence of the meal was perfect, allowing each course to really shine and let our brains and stomachs process what we had just eaten. Every dish was packed with flavor and clearly constructed very thoughtfully. The savory, sweet, sour, and spicy notes all sang beautifully from course to course, and I especially loved how playful the meal finished with the "Andy Warhol-inspired" dessert. It truly felt like being taken on a journey through Thai cuisine. The ambience is elegant but welcoming, making it a great fit for just about any occasion, whether that be a date night, a casual evening out with friends, or even a special celebration like a birthday or anniversary.

Had an amazing birthday lunch here last year. There was only one other party in here on a weekday, so the atmosphere was serene. The decor and plating is all very beautiful, and this spot is tucked in an unassuming hotel in Japantown. We got the seafood and pork lunch sets, and everything was super flavorful, tender, and unique. I've been to their sister restaurant Her Very Thai many times (and am a fan), and the rice in the sets here are very similar but the meat/veggies are a little more pristine here. They even had a banana slug-looking birthday dessert which was super yummy ice cream with a creative shell. The lunch sets were super reasonable price given the quality, service, and ambiance-- and they also gave a birthday discount which was the cherry on top :) I tried their winter menu, would love to come back again soon! Perfect for a small special occasion.

Very well-priced Thai food in Japantown. The lunch menu is very reasonable and the different options for the set menu are interesting and make me want to come back to try them all. I had the beef option but will be back to try the others. Great service and well-paced dishes.

Came here with a group and was great. Service was excellent. Our server Milton took good care of us and was attentive thru the whole meal whether it was more cocktails or making sure everyone's food restrictions/allergies were met. It's lovely inside and felt cozy. It was pretty loud despite not being full and could barely hear each other most of the dinner. Food was good. We all tried a couple drinks and the menu without additions. Favorites were the duck dish and scallop khao soi. The flavors all went well together with a nice blend of spicy and salty. They were also able to accommodate nut allergies and vegetarian diners quickly. Drinks were pretty good. The mocktails were a bit too sweet and syrupy for me. The cocktails were well balanced and all were beautifully presented. I liked the unique flavors and the actual dishes the food was on. The first couple dishes were served cool or more room temp and sorta wanted it to be warm but was still tasty. All in all I loved the experience and our group had such a good time.

Celebrated my man's birthday here on a Tuesday night and reservations were surprisingly easy to make! Tucked away in the corner of sutter and Buchanan, you will notice the hotel "Kimpton Hotel Enso". The entrance to the restaurant is on the Buchanan side. Once we arrived, we were greeted by staff and led to our table. we had the 11 course dinner with wine pairing and even added the lobster pad Thai as an addition to our meal. I would list all 11 dishes, but that would be way too long to read through. Everything was phenomenal and they truly brought out the Thai spices, heat, and freshness of the seafood. majority of the plates were spicy so if it gets too overwhelming, you can ask the staff for a glass of sweet milk ;) I heard the lunch tasting menu wasn't as great, so I would recommend the dinner tasting instead. parking is relatively difficult since it's right next to Japantown, but you can always park in the japantown lot if you cannot find street parking in the area

We came for lunch. We had a reservation and were seated immediately, although it wasn't too busy inside. There were a few other parties and it was a pretty quiet and relaxed environment. Comfortable booths. You select a protein and receive a 3-course meal + dessert. We enjoyed the scallops first, and then the rest of the meal arrives at once. We felt that all of the food was excellent - we had beef and seafood orders - although recommend focusing on eating rather than conversation over the meal, as we did not eat fast enough and our soups got a bit cold. All the meat was tender and all of the dishes were super flavorful. The two of us who got beef were pleasantly full by the end of the meal, but the person who got seafood wasn't quite full (will qualify that he typically eats large volume meals and is likely a skewed measure). Would definitely come back and try dinner.

Came by for dinner the other night and it was a decent experience. The chef from this restaurant worked at bo.lan in Bangkok, a Thai restaurant featured in the Michelin guide. The chef also owns Hed verythai in the Financial district. Hed11 is featured in the Michelin guide. Made a reservation for the 11 course tasting menu and our table was ready upon arrival. The restaurant is located inside the Kimpton Hotel Enso, right by Japantown. Parking is available on the street or in the nearby SFMTA Japantown garage. Staff throughout the evening was attentive in explaining courses. The 11 course tasting menu had a few add-ons, each at a price point of ~$49. The 11 course tasting menu was more than sufficient for 1 person. Started off with the oyster dish and the flavors were decent, albeit on the sweeter side. Moved on to the crab dip with sticky rice. The sticky rice was a touch dried out and the crab dip was decent. The 3rd course consisted of 3 small bite sized snacks which was presented nicely. The scallop khao soi course was my favorite with the super fragrant curry that complemented the noodles well. The wild mushroom course with the broth was tasty. Looking closer at the menu, this used to be made with black cod...so a slight downgrade... The yellowtail sashimi tasted great although I found the sashimi not super duper fresh... The grilled squid entree came out with a generous portion featuring super thick squid that wasn't rubbery. I didn't see any grill marks though. The side of sticky rice was tasty although I found the entree and the rice to be merely lukewarm. The duck course was ok. The duck was cooked towards a medium and the duck itself didn't seem too fresh as the duck felt a touch mushy. The duck skin was surprisingly not crispy... The watermelon course seemed small for a course. It was presented in conjunction with the duck course. The mango sticky rice ice cream was presented nicely with a bed of puffed rice. Meal ended off with some chocolates...that didn't taste super fresh along with a thai iced tea tartlette. ~$180/head after tax and 20% gratuity that was automatically added to the bill.

Had a lovely holiday group dinner and tried the 8-course tasting. In general very beautifully done. I wanted more though - I'd eaten beforehand (a hearty chili), finished the whole meal, and still ate more back home to be full. Would recommend the additions if you're getting the 8-course. 01 : Thai Style Shrimp with Tomyum mayo golden puff - wished it was hot 02 : Sea crab dip in Red Curry with Grilled Sticky rice - flavorful, bit too salty wish I had more sticky rice, one of our rice was too hard 03: Grilled Hokkaido Scallop in Khao Soi, eggs noodle and pickles - I needed more of this! 04 : Winter Wild Mushrooms Yellow Curry - big fan, though less adventurous eaters may find issue with texture 05 : Rice Wine Marinated Maple Leaf farms Duck in Red Curry with Lychee - crowd fave! Never seen lychee served in a dish before 06 : Watermelon salad with fried shallots and crispy Fish - love the sweet savory combo 07 : Guava and SaltedPlump Sorbet - not strongly either, nice little palate cleanser. 08 : Andy Warhol-Inspired Banana Ice Cream with Almond Crumble - tasty! Also tried the cheesecake which was great, interesting combo of texture and flavors Holiday bites had some beautiful chocolates (think caramel filled? too sweet for us) and delightful tarts. Enjoyed the cocktails especially Mae Mali and apple honey smoky rice. The lemongrass pandan was too subtle and likely the coconut in the coconut margarita overpowered the Thai herbs. While service was lovely and rather attentive, they also spoke very fast, in a loud dining room, and it was hard to catch what each dish was or how to eat it as intended. We did have a few dietary restrictions (1 shellfish/pork, 1 seafood, 1 veg) but we made it easier for them just to say vegetarian for all. We did also have a serious nut allergy (epi pen on standby) and this guest was served a dessert with nuts - good thing we double checked before diving in but was concerning and surprising for a nice restaurant like this. We had another guest who alerted staff she doesn't eat banana and they they'd forgotten (dessert was frozen banana) but then they brought out a delicious alternative!

Ok, so I went here to try their Spring-Summer menu recently. This restaurant has been on my list for a while now, and I finally decided to try it to celebrate something! The items numbered are the ones part of the 11-course meal. I was surprised I actually enjoyed everything, even though I usually don't eat some of those raw items, lol but maybe me knowing it's fancy helped me enjoy the food more! Also, it seems like they give you your plates of food one at a time for the 11-course, but I think if it's almost closing time, then they seem to rush and give you the rest of the items that are part of the 11-course meal. My group was slow at eating since we kept going back to the menu to read what we were eating, so some dishes got a little mixed. I'd recommend this place! It's a fun experience because of all the different items you can try. The food is also beautifully presented too, which that helped make the experience nice.

The mushroom bahn mi sliders were amazing - the quality fillings and taste of the soft bun - I was unexpectedly hit with a bite of spice from maybe jalapeño seeds left but didn't sour my experience. The shishito peppers ended up being extremely spicy as well, those are usually just a few spicy and not the majority. The roasted lemon and salt was a wonderful combo but just too spicy to eat. However, the server very kindly removed it from our bill without us asking. We order the crostini because we were still hungry and that was an absolute hit. Seeing that it was named one of the top 50 best bars in North American, we had to check it out! We came in a Thursday night in mid-April about 9:45 PM. They have security outside thar checks IDs & also manages the queue in case the bar gets too crowded. We had no issues getting in, but there were zero indoor seats available - both the bar & table seating. Thankfully, they have a really cozy & well-lit patio area. The waitress let us know that even the outdoor patio has table-side service, so we made ourselves comfortable on the outdoor bench & within seconds she had brought us waters & cocktail menus. Weather outside was really nice, so I'm glad we actually sat outside. Each cocktail is $20, which definitely is a little steep, but I think the creativity, quality, & prestige of being named a top 50 bar supports the price. Each part of the menu is organized by liquor ie whiskey, vodka, brandy, gin, etc. We tried 4 drinks total. I only took menu photos of the pages we ordered from but they have a lot more selections. We ordered the Kung Fu Pandan, Silky Street, Rice Rice Baby, & Tropical Gangsta. We had some favorites over others, but all were very well crafted! The drinks came out pretty quickly considering how busy it was. The only hiccup was our final drink took quite a while. Turns out the ticket machine malfunctioned & deleted orders put in & caused a back-up. The waitress was so apologetic & ended up comp-ing 2 drinks, which she definitely didn't have to but it speaks volumes to the high standards they hold themselves to & their customer service.
