Red Lentil Soup Chicken Bone Broth Soup
    Emily W.

One of the best lentils soup I ever had. It's creamy and flavorful. The chicken is freshly made and I enjoy the soup so much. We order the falafels salad, oh my goodness the salad dressing, It tastes amazing! The falafels are incredible! This is the salad to order! The person that order our food is very nice. There's no outdoor or indoor sitting, their service is a big kitchen just to make food for delivery and take out. If you are wanting good soups and salads, this is the place to go! Ohh the banana pudding is also good!

Delicious Chicken in Beef Bone Broth on a chilly evening. Very flavorful and hearty. Couscous, celery, chicken, dill and other seasonings. We Doordashed this meal so I can't comment on the service or ambiance. They sure make a delicious bowl of soup, i can tell you that.

I just chronicled my utensil-free experience with this operation under the entry for their joint salad partner, Saucy Greens (review: https://bit.ly/3ZyV3AR). In brief, the shop at the corner of Leavenworth and Union is a bustling spot for delivery services and local residents. I came here to try a salad bowl, but I was also drawn to the menu of this business because c'mon, soup and salad... That's an inevitable combo. Truth be told, I was probably enamored more with Soupchu's menu than Saucy Greens'. I decided on the comfy-cozy $10.50 Chicken Bone Broth Soup which was chock full of couscous, carrot, celery, lemon, fresh dill, and shards of fresh chicken breast (photo: https://bit.ly/3YIpMKr). Sure, it was deliciously homestyle and plentiful in portion. It went well with the Vibrant Salad I got from Saucy Greens. However, the absence of a spoon made it a challenge. The problem was that they forgot my utensils despite my asking them. I had rolled downhill to Francisco Park and basically had no energy to go back up. Once I pleaded for a spoon at a cafe on Polk, I finally found a place to eat my soup. Remind me to bring my spork next time. FOOD - 4 stars...soup that would shame your mother AMBIANCE - n/a...not really relevant here SERVICE - 3 stars...nice but not coordinated TOTAL - 4 stars...I'd come back for the soups and stews...I'll bring my spork next time RELATED - Exploring Russian Hill? Chicken Bone Broth Soup and side of Acme sourdough bread.

Wowww! Was feeling under the weather today and ordered the chicken bone broth soup. It's incredible--so flavorful and comforting. Acme bread that came with it is the BEST! Considering ordering again tonight for dinner!!!

I was sick and looking for a nutritious, soothing, and rejuvenating meal. The chicken stew from Soupchu was the call. Hearty, fresh, and full of comfort. You can tell that everything is cooked and prepared with intention. The stew portion was melty and divine. The fermented cabbage and salad were fresh, crisp and lively. The rice was soft and fluffy. And everything on the menu is well priced. Definitely add Soupchu to your delivery rotation!

This business popped up while shopping for a weekday meal for the next week. Since this was their headline item on Locale, I couldn't help but order it. After all, I just can't say no to beef stew, whether it's Dinty Moore (well, maybe less likely to say yes) and, of course, when I'm on Oahu. My order was packed well (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=OR-DU4lRfTDdFkgrdBMJ8w&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) and I liked how the items were neatly plated. The beef stew plate which comes with basmati rice and comes with a small container of tzatziki (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=TD1ZkBMSXvs665R_qj932Q&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) had simple instructions as well as a list of ingredients; the order description reads that it contains tender slow-cooked beef, potatoes, carrots and peas. My friends know that I disdain from using the microwave so I used foil, water, and the toaster oven in reheating it (15-20 minutes at 300F, foil covered). My beef stew after reheating (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=T9facmEjl44sqzPBE4ZYnA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) was as delicious as it looked. Everything was perfectly seasoned though I was, at first, a bit confused about how to use the tzatziki. I am used to eating jasmine rice at home so the basmati was a nice change. I ended up alternating bites of the three components and enjoyed the flavor and texture contrasts. The portions are generous as I only ate half of it for dinner and finished the rest for lunch a couple days later. I was surprised to see that they are located on Union Street which is the beauty of buying from food consolidators. The time and gas cost in driving around the City besides dealing with parking and traffic make it a lot easier to just click on my cellphone in ordering meals for the week. I would order this again and will study their menu more carefully the next time I order.

Outstanding chicken soup, or what's left of it.

High quality, fresh, wonderful flavor! Don't hesitate! The Chicken Soup was even better than I was craving, with the nourishment of real homemade soup, and delicious flavor & seasoning. Good quality piece of bread came on the side (maybe Acme?). Good portion and reasonably priced for a meal in SF. This is the same chef owner as Sumac, Saucy Greens and NomNom Burger in the same space. Sumac is also OUTSTANDING, and I'm eager to try the other concepts and other Soupchu soups. This is a rare gem in SF with excellent food. This is a takeout only or delivery establishment. I've only done takeout (often eat in the car). The soup was packaged well with plastic wrapped around the container to prevent leaks. Do make sure you ask for a spoon, as it might not be included automatically. The service is always warm and friendly. Outstanding all around!

OMG. I have so many things to say about this meal yet left absolutely speechless!!!!!! Amazing food. So delicious, so tasty! I got the chicken stew and my boyfriend got the chicken salad from sumac (sister restaurant out of the same take out window). We both loved it and will be back next week ;)

Flavor is there. Disappointed that there was no meat in my chicken soup. Completely different than what is advertised on photos.

I walked in with a group of 8, we were immediately greeted by a lady who seemed to run the entire dining room. She was very to-the-point and efficient. She treated us very well, giving us complementary pan-fried dumplings, and even making sure our friend who came later got everything that the rest of us got as well. The usual Chinese menu items we ordered were all pretty standard, including the hot & sour soup. The pork chop was flavorful & cooked well, but the gravy on top of it had a weird gelatinous consistency that took a while to get used to. The prime rib was a more-adventurous item that we ordered, and although it wasn't bad, I think I'd skip it on my next visit.

The team was incredible, they were so kind on a day that can be stressful for a small restaurant. We had incredible food. It seems like this place is an asian fusion brunch place incorporating french dishes into thai/asian themed dishes which is up our alley. We made a reservation at 1:45 PM and we had to wait for about an extra 30 minutes before getting seated. Initially, I wanted to try their crab fried rice but unfortunately they were out of crab. We decided to get the Alcatraz Escape and the Brioche french toast which were recommended by the wait staff. The staff was generally friendly and accommodating but I can tell they were swamped and stressed out with all the people they were trying to serve. The food itself tasted decent, the Alcatraz Escape had a tasty flavor which incorporates tom yum paste (sweet, sour, tangy flavor) into their scramble with about 4 shrimps. The side of crispy chicken was good but nothing that stood out to us. The brioche was soft but there wasn't much flavoring besides the fruits and caramelized banana. It was served with evaporated milk which made the brioche soft but not adding much flavor to it. The price however was quite pricey. For two dishes as a side we paid around $78 with tax and tip.
