Tea Leaf Salad With Lettuce
Sanna A.

We came here last min after craving some Burmese food. This place has some seating inside near a Main Street, that doesn't seem to be super busy. The food came out fresh and the waiter was very nice. Super delicious when you see craving this type of cuisine . Thank you for having us. 4/5 cleanse 4/5 service 5/5 food ( good portions)

I'm a huge fan of Burmese food so was excited to try New Burma. Unfortunately my experience fell short of my expectations :( I found all the food to be bland and lacking those strong flavors I get from other restaurants. The Blackpepper Chicken was sooo bland and all the veggies didn't help. The Fiery Vegetable With Tofu was also bland, same for the veggies. Not fiery at all. And the coconut rice was alright, but had almost no coconut flavor. Maybe I just ordered the wrong things but I was really disappointed in the food quality.

Ordered for takeout via Uber Eats on a Sunday evening, and it was so delicious. A cozy spot next to a good amount of offices, probably very popular during the week for lunch. We ordered: - Tea Leaf Salad with Lettuce: So crunchy and so many different flavors and textures. A must order! - Platha with Coconut Curry Chicken Dip: the platha was buttery and flaky and chewy and paired so well with the curry. Delicious! - Eggplant with Garlic Sauce: you can't go wrong with saucy fried eggplant. This was a great flavor explosion. - Mint Chicken: A deceivingly simple dish but was so tasty and had a great punch of flavor despite looking simple. No wonder it's one of their most popular dishes. - Coconut Rice: I could inhale multiple bowls of this. Light, fluffy, savory, and sweet all in one bowl. Service was quick, food was ready when we got there! Really great Burmese spot.

Lamb that was beef

Food was delicious. Minus one star because we ordered lamb and it was obviously beef. Just be honest and say you don't have lamb.

Fiery Vegetables with Shrimps

Visiting the design center stores and found this lovely hidden jewel! Interior not at all fancy, but clean and practical. Cashier also served and was very nice. Had lunch that was so good I bought food to go for dinner. Recommend the fiery shrimp, eggplant, platha and mint chicken (took home and traveled very well).

Lemongrass tofu....but it was missing the okra, broccoli, and cabbage.

I ordered the tea leaf salad and the lemongrass tofu to go. From the menu, the lemongrass tofu dish should have: "Tofu, with chili, garlic, soy sauce, broccoli, cabbage, okra, snap peas, red bell pepper, lemongrass and basil." When I arrived home, I found it was missing the cabbage, okra, and broccoli. That was a little disappointing. See my photo to see only tofu, red bell pepper, and snap peas. I asked for the dish to be spicy and the lemongrass flavor was light - it tasted more like a spicy basil. The dish also had a layer of grease on it. The tea leaf salad was tasty and they offer cabbage, lettuce, or half half. The amount of tea leaf dressing was great! I'd come back for the salad.

Good solid Burmese food, the waiter is super nice and friendly, worth a try in the area! Food: 4/5. We got platha with chicken + coconut curry, tea leaf salad and their signature shrimp dish. All of the dishes are amazing and delicious. The tea leaf salad is very refreshing -- although it tasted like a normal salad. Their platha with the curry dip is 5/5, super delicious. The platha is very flakey and fragrant and the curry dip is a must have! Vibes: 4/5. We got seated right away and the waiter was very welcoming. You can hear the chefs cook at the back in the kitchen, which is quite cool!

I've had better Burmese food. We walked here on a Sunday afternoon so didn't have to deal with parking but it can be challenging around the area. Before I talk about the food, let's talk about their bathroom because it was disgusting. Urine was all over the floor and toilet seat, and the toilet was not flushed. I would've excused the dirty bathroom if it was busy but the whole restaurant was empty before and after we dined in. Service: 10/10. Waiter was quick, friendly, and efficient. Food: Platha with coconut chicken curry - 3.5/5. Coconut curry was really delicious and chicken was really soft and tender. Platha pieces were crispy but too greasy. Nan gyi thok - Lacked flavor and depth. It was soooo bland. Not enough sauce so it was dry and sticky. Didn't offer lemon slices like other places do. This was a pretty disappointing dish. Burmese shrimp curry - Shrimps were over-cooked so they were very rubbery. Lacked flavor and depth as well. I couldn't identify what the curry was supposed to taste like lol. Also, the dish came out to be room temperature instead of sizzling hot but the plate was hot so it might have been microwaved tbh. Burmese milk tea - Loved the flavor but it was way too sweet. Too much condensed milk for sure.

MY GO TO! found this gem recently while craving burmese food but not wanting to bum it out too far from home. Not a fancy or large restaurant but the food hits and portions are good. Garlic noodles 5/5 Tea leaf salad 5/5 - I also love that you can choose between cabbage or regular romaine lettuce Platha with Coconut Chicken Curry Dip - 4.5/5 the platha is 5/5 dip 4/5 Coconut Chicken noodle soup - 5/5 so creamy, so warming, so delicious.

Finally I tried the samosa soup. It is as good as everybody says but you must ask for extra spicy and one of the chili pods on the side!

It's been a while since the last time we've come to Burma Superstar, but we saw the restaurant week…read moremenu and decided it was about time to come back! This time it was a $90 set with 2 drinks, 2 servings of rice of your choice, a trio of their salads, and 2 entrees - honestly a great deal and I think the waitstaff mentioned it's about a $150 value, which I completely believe. Our party of 4 arrived around 8:15, and waited about 15 minutes to get seated - definitely try to join the ahead of time because they saved us! It's cozy, clean and well decorated inside, and though the tables are a little close you have plenty of space and it's not too loud for conversations. We got two sets of the $90 menu - which was probably a mistake since we were stuffed and had plenty of leftovers. Drinks: we got 4 different drinks - the mango Lassi, spiced sunset, nanda breeze and burma cooler. All of these were excellent, refreshing and great for balancing the strong flavors of the entrees! Rice: we always get the coconut rice, so this time we opted for 2 scoops of coconut rice and 2 scoops of the burmese fried rice - the fried rice was tasty but not as fragrant as the coconut rice so we'll probably stick to that in the future Salad trio: this included the iconic tea leaf salad, along with the pea shoot salad, and superstar noodle salad. The pea shoot salad was a surprising favorite, and I'd even consider getting that over the tea leaf salad in the future! The noodle salad was pretty filling but tasty - maybe good if you're not planning to get a bunch of entrees On to the entrees: these are all super flavorful, umami, and can get a little heavy if you don't balance it out with the rice and salads. We got the pazun kyaw (chili prawns), nga phel hin (a sort of fish patty in tomato curry sauce with fresh cucumber slices), chili lamb, and basil chili pork belly. The chili lamb was a standout - super tender, flavorful and our overall favorite. The basil chili pork belly is a close second, but a bit oilier and heavier. The nga phel hin was tasty but a little too heavy /salty - slightly helped by the cucumber but there were only 4 slices with the dish. The chili prawns had great flavor but unfortunately were a little overcooked. Overall, this was an excellent meal! Burma Superstar never fails to be a great place for a large, flavorful family style dinner. I'm glad we got to try multiple new things from the menu through the restaurant week offer, and I'll be able to switch up my typical order in the future based on what we tried this time!

The service here is exponentially better, the staff is super friendly, incredibly attentive, and they make everyone feel very welcomed. The food on the other hand just is not great. Yes this place is always packed apparently, and it may be out of convenience. I found that everything that we ordered with the exception of the coconut rice fell flat. This is one of those moments that hurt your heart because I want to give them huge accolades, but it's just not there. We ordered the platha. It was tasty, but it also did not taste super fresh. The dipping sauce that it comes with (opted for chicken) and kept digging around the small bowl to find pieces of chicken that were nonexistent. The up charge of a dollar for the chicken dipping sauce that did not have chicken in it super disappointing. The sauce was tasty, but definitely not worth the up charge. Our server encouraged us to get the tea salad, which is definitely something. Someone should try if you've never had it before. The mixture of fresh veggies, the light sauce and the herbs, make for a very fresh bite. I would've been thrilled if late shredded chicken could be added to this for a different style dish. It would be super tasty. The salad was good, but not my style, but everyone else enjoyed it. We ordered the beef curry and the coconut rice. I absolutely want to emphasize how incredible the staff is. Their service and attentiveness absolutely should be acknowledged over and over again. The coconut rice at this location is exponentially better than at the other restaurant that we tried. This was a combination of light, fluffy, and absolutely flavorful delicious rice. The beef curry was incredibly disappointing. The beef was well done not done well. It was tough, overly chewy, and the flavor profile was just not good. It was missing something and even the light curry broth that the meat was sitting in well, good wasn't fantastic. The drinks seem pricier here, and the mango lassie, while good, was just OK. It tasted more like watered down mango. For dessert, we tried the black rice. This is definitely worth trying. It's a heavier dessert and probably a bit much after what felt like an uncomfortable dinner. The coconut sauce that it's sitting in is delicious and I can see why so many people enjoy it, and maybe if the strawberries were tastier the combination of all of the flavors may have made a difference. I definitely think it's something worth trying, but maybe elsewhere, or with different items for dinner.
