    Spicy chicken plate

I ordered the spicy chicken plate and my friend ordered the vegetarian plate. They were both very tasty. The portion size was large. I would definitely come back again.

I was in the area and wanted some ethiopian food. I came across this place. I was greeted when I walked in. the menu is scanned by qr. Then you order at the restaurant. The food was made extremely fast which was a plus. I ordered the veggie plate with chicken. It was good portion for 2. zthe collard greens and cabbage stew was my absolute favorite. I also tried the tea and was given a treat to enjoy with it which was nice. Overall the food was pretty good. They had jazz music playing. It seems like a lot of people order for take out.

I went here recently with my uncle. He is a longtime vegetarian and I am a vegan. We both opted to go with the veggie combo. Hearty and flavorful. Very friendly service. It was busy with good reason when we went here. Highly recommended for tasty Ethiopian cuisine in San Francisco served with warm hospitality.

Moya is a nice Ethiopian place downtown. It's a bit hard to get to because it's not near many things, but a very nice shop with a good ambiance and a very sweet owner. When I went with a friend, we got the vegetarian platter and their classic chicken dish. I unfortunately have to say that it was just okay. The vegetarian dishes were very good and the bread was flavorful and fresh, but the chicken was a bit dry and not as flavorful as I would have wanted. While this is a perfectly serviceable Ethiopian spot in a pinch, it doesn't beat my favorite in the city. But I would definitely still recommend giving it a try just to chat with the owner and experience some authentic Ethiopian food if it's close and convenient to you.

I am so excited to have found Moya! I love Ethiopian food and this location has fresh, healthy, food, delicious Injera. We ordered the Veggie Sampler and the Doro Tibs to share. Large enough for 2 people, plentiful Injera. I went with Med spice but it was not that spicy at all. Will definitely be back!

Moya is a superb spot for Ethiopian food in this part of the city. Came here after another spot nearby was closed unexpectedly and so glad we did. We came right as they opened for dinner so the service was quick and easy. The food came out in less than ten minutes and what a feast it was. The vegan sampler platter was enormous contrary to the photo of it looking like a grain bowl. Everything on it from the greens to the lentils was full of flavor and absolutely delicious. Enough to feed 2+ people for sure. I also had ordered a spicy tofu dish as well and THAT was something else. I don't see tofu being used often in Ethiopian restaurants but this was really a hit. Savory, spicy, and filling. Our meal came with a side of injera and I was shocked at how fast it came out too. The quality of the injera was great too and made for the perfect vessel to get all the tasty food in our mouths.

We were here last summer. Really excellent food. We didn't realize how big the portions were and ordered too much! We had the vegan platter and siga tibs. Minus the salad, the injera, wats, and beef were delicious.

ummm LOVED this place! Melu was so sweet and helpful. the food was so good and fresh and will 100% be going back and ordering takeout. they have a good amount of vegan options (the mushroom and lentils were my fav). the injira is so so so soft and comforting ambiance is homey and cute

I'm glad to see that they're still thriving after all these years. This is one of my favorite places to get misir wot, and their portions are massive. The injera that comes with your order is also one of the fluffiest and tastiest you can find. They're happy to give you more if you ask as well. Everything is spiced perfectly. I wish I lived or worked closer.

We were in SOMA and it was dinner time so a visit to popular Ethiopian spot Moya. They were very busy with a constant flow of DoorDdashers. The staff are work hard to keep up but manage to keep orders flowing. The vegan sampler is generous and delicious with fresh salad on the plate. The chicken was tasty but lacked the flavor punch of typical Ethiopian fare. Injera was fresh and spongy, served on the side.

Vegan sampler, Doro tibs & collard greens, Berbere, brown rice, injera.

CONSISTENTLY EXCELLENT flavors. Thank you for ALWAYS including the Berbere spices. I will always order here. Thank you for your kindness and consistency.

ordered the vegan sampler to go; for under $20, it made a super filling and flavorful lunch. i can't wait to try their other dishes. injera was tender and they gave a perfect portion.

Visited Moya for the first time on Friday December 27th. I went with my husband and a friend of ours. We showed up a few minutes after they had opened. It's a very bare bones restaurant, and you order/pay at the counter. The woman working was very nice. We ordered: - gursha injera rolls - ayb homemade cheese - vegan sampler - shuro - mushroom tibs Our order came with a giant basket of injera for enjoying everything. The standouts for us were the gursha, shuro, and mushroom tibs. Everything was great, I can't wait to go back.

They're open! For dinner only, but I would call ahead just in case because sometimes they aren't lol

How greasy is the food? What kind of cooking oil is used?

We try to use as little oil as possible. You can have tibs dishes prepared without any oil, if you’d prefer. We use canola oil.

Instead of absorbing the sauces and bringing everything together it did the very opposite. I was going to try their French toast and decided to make it at home instead - fresh challah or brioche with vanilla bean, cinnamon, pinch of salt and splash of heavy cream mixed in with eggs + maple syrup and fresh berries. It will take more effort than just ordering it at a restaurant but I'm not taking anymore risks.

Since this is near the Civic Center, spots are limited, so public transit is the best way to get here! Inside was very aesthetically pleasing and inviting, with the windows stretching up the wall to the ceiling, and a modern bar. At that moment, we weren't really looking for drinks, just bites, so I do not have any opinions yet on their drink selection. We ordered the "crab" arancini, which came with jackfruit, lemon garlic, salsa macha aioli, and guajillo, and the barbacoa nachos. The arancini was okay, and did not stand out as much as I would have liked. The panko crust on it was on the thicker side, so it had a bit of a harder exterior, but I will say I did like how well the jackfruit was incorporated and added depth to the dish. I wish that I could taste a bit more of that lemon in the lemon garlic. The barbacoa nachos were delicious, and I liked how they paired the nachos with jalapenos and pickled onions for a nice flavor composition. The jackfruit blended well and added some savory, "meaty" flavoring to the dish that worked. Overall, for a restaurant that specializes in vegan food, this was a great choice! I thought the service was great as well, and they were very accommodating to our party when it came to dietary needs, which is always appreciated.
