For my milestone 1700th review, I'm gonna skip out on my beloved Frrrrrrried Chicken and Custard Pie, and talk about another love of mine........ Back in 1995 I was in Cedar Rapids Iowa for work, and on the weekend I decided to explore the area and stumbled upon this classic car dealership/museum called - Duffy's. If you guys dig classic American muscle cars, or vintage European, or American classic automobiles, Duffy's may have something for your liking! So it was on a weekend that I was hangin' out with da fellas from work, and somehow we stumbled on a place called - "Duffy's Classic Cars" as it was just a short hop, skip, & jump away from the Sheraton hotel that I was staying at. When I walked into Duffy's, I was totally blown away at what I saw, as there was an array of classic muscle cars that I've read about, but never physically seen in my lifetime. As a muscle car enthusiast, I was so happy to physically see two Boss 429 Mustangs, as well as the Boss 302 Mustang! Other cool muscle cars I saw at Duffy's were the - Pontiac GTO Judge, 1969 Camaro Z28, Plymouth Super Bird, vintage Corvettes, Chevelle SS, Plymouth Roadrunner, & a Plymouth Cuda was sure neat to look at! Not into muscle cars? No worry beef curry..........they had other interesting vehicles like - a Porsche Speedster Replica, Triumph, MGTD Roadster, Jaguar XK120, Chevy Impala SS, Pontiac Bonneville, Packard 250, Olds Tudor, Chrysler Winsdsor, Chevy Bel Air 2 door hard top, Mercury Cougar, Ford Galaxie 500, & Ford Falcon to name a few! I can't believe how high the prices of these muscle car have risen over the years. Do not do business with this shop online. In fact, don't do business with them at all. They are untrustworthy and greedy. They do not do a full 100 point inspection, like they say they do. Had they done that, they would have found out that the car I bought could not be driven legally. All of the rear lights were not working. The master cylinder failed after two days. (I admit that this could not be predicted.) The worst thing that still gets under my skin is that there was a gasoline leak between the fill hole and the hole to the tank. The first time I tried filling it up for a long, leisurely drive with my fiance, it began leaking all over the ground. Other customers at the gas station pointed this out and began running away. My fiance and I pushed the car to the side of the lot, away from the pumps. We had to wait forever for half of the gas tank to empty and it stopped dripping gas. They lied to me about the condition of a car I bought from them. It wasn't a rust bucke, but the car had many problems and wasn't nice like they advertise. Avoid them at all costs. read more

Don't buy anything from Duffy's unless you go there and look at it yourself. I bought a 1959 Ford Skyliner from them by relying on their pictures. It wasn't a piece of trash, but it wasn't nearly as nice as it was portrayed. I would never have paid the price I paid if it had seen it in person. It wasn't a terrible car but it wasn't good enough to be worth what I paid. read more

I bought a 1941 Ford from these guys, John, Ronnie, and I believe her name was Carol were awesome they made me feel right at home. Up front and honest. I consider them family. I recently purchased a 69 Chevelle SS 396, mainly working with Craig. The car has a rebuilt 454 from a shop in Des Moines. It has many performance upgrades and has some real power. I was very excited to pick up the car from them. Unfortunately, I parked the car in the wrong place at the wrong time while we were doing some final checks. It was a very windy day and a gate blew closed and put a dent in the front quarter panel. They didn't hesitate to fix the problem and make it right, even though it was partially my fault. They also replaced the starter because it didn't quite sound right. I picked the vehicle up after the dent and starter had been replaced. I then had issues with the starter when making multiple stops during short trips. Eventually, we realized that there was an issue with heat soak of the starter because of the 454 and proximity of the starter to the headers. They upgraded the starter to a mini starter and I haven't had any issues since. The car was not under warranty, but they made sure that everything was running right and haven't charged me anything. I now look forward to enjoying the driving season and maybe taking it to some car shows. Brian C. read more

These guys advertised a 69 camaro as a true "correct" vehicle. Called and spoke with salesman Ronnie and he said "I've been doing this for 20 years and this is the most correct camaro I've seen". Well, I went back and forth and we agreed on a tentative price. I gave a deposit in good faith because I was buying from a "professional and reputable" company, and even bought a plane ticket. I did some further research on the cowl tag and turns out this vehicle is FAR from correct. It has the Norwood X55 cowl tag, which proves it cannot be an RS camaro. It also has an incorrect interior, incorrect convertible top, and incorrect hockey stripe. Long story short, their misrepresentation cost me half of a $750 plane ticket (they reimbursed me for half, but should have reimbursed me the entire fare since the vehicle was blatantly misrepresented). I informed them of the discrepancies, and yet they STILL advertise this vehicle as a RS, which it is NOT. Horrible experience. Buyer beware. This is not a professional company you're dealing with. All they had to do was refund me the plane ticket and this review would never have been posted. That would have proven they genuinely made an honest mistake and owned up to it. I purchased a 1972 Camaro from Duffy's. The ad claimed it had "power assist " steering. It had no power steering at all. Jamie lied to the attorney general, but it was a case of "he said, she said." The "100 Point Inspection" is BS. Besides no power steering, the following did not work: air conditioning, remote mirror, temperature gauge, amp gauge, hood hinges, and trunk hinges. Buyer Beware!! Be careful when dealing with salesman Ronnie, who said he's been doing this for 30 years. The videos and pictures can be deceiving. Within a month of buying a VERY expensive 1957 Bel Aire convertible, issues arose that should not have, had the car truly been in the condition they said it was. They did reimburse me for some of the repairs, but, low balled me on the reimbursement. The car was two different colors as if they only touched up the paint, instead of a full paint job, which is different than I was told on the phone. The under carriage was also in poor condition, compared to what I was told. Overall, the car was just not in the great condition they claimed it was in. An older car is an older car, however, for those who appreciate a good classic car, beware, what seems too good to be true, usually is.... go see everything in person before you buy. read more

I've attempted to contact them several times both by phone and by email to inquire about a car I wanted to purchase from their site. I was never able to get a hold of them or get a reply to my email. I've tried to contact them over several days and today I saw the car was sold. Worst service ever. I can't imagine what dealing with them in person would be like if it's not possible to even get them to respond to someone trying to buy something. I dealt with Ronnie on a 1969 Z28 that had a matching number engine, functional cowl induction hood AM/FM stereo etc.. I went against my better judgement and took his word for it that everything was as he stated because I didn't have the time to fly out from california to look at it myself. I should have just hired someone to inspect it for me. Anyway when the car arrived at my home it ran terrible. I figured it just needed a tune up and maybe some carb work. Well the "functional" cowl hood was nowhere near functional as there were key parts missing and the radio didn't function. It started running so bad that I ended up taking it to a local engine shop here thats been in business for 45 years. Come to find out that my matching numbers 302 is a crate LT1 350 stamped with the numbers that the original motor would have had. A STINKING RESTAMP!! when the motor was disassembled, they discovered that the cam was shot. Basically the motor was trashed! Im not going to come out and say they deliberately tried to rip me off but they definitely didn't do their due diligence in checking the vehicle out to make sure it was what they advertised it was. I sent them a message letting them know what the situation was and of course i got no response. Its my fault! I should have checked it out myself. I got ripped off and I just have to deal with it. If you are considering buying a car from these guys do your homework and take the time to check it out because they sure don't. It hurts to get burned. Ill be feeling this for a long time. I will never again take anyones word for it. There are way too many ripoff artists out there. I don't know how these people sleep at night. read more

I recently purchased a 2008 GT500 KR from Duffys. The add and YouTube video both stated and showed that the car came with a car cover, it was a custom,color-matched cover according to the original owner, who I spoke with today. When the car arrived the cover was not in the car. A call to the CEO of Duffy's ended with him refusing to send the cover and saying I had an attitude. The cove is valued at $400.00. I purchased the car in March and he has yet to send me my signed copies of the contract either. The CEO Jamie, is not a very nice person and his reputation is noted by his now 11 Better Business Bureau complaints. I spent almost 47K and was treated like crap. Oh, he also sold two other cars identical to mine around the same time. Once I complained about he cover he removed all three from his "sold" inventory. I can only conclude that he gave my car cover to the buyer of one of the other KRs. He also gave me a owner's manual from a different car which was missing the important KR documentation; I'm sure mine went with another car as well. I'm sure I'll never see my car cover, but if one of the people who bought one of the other Silver 08/09 KRs has it...enjoy it because it was a nice bonus. PS. He also made my loan officer cry by yelling at her over the phone when she asked him to send her the title. He refused. read more
