Duck Fat French Fries
Ashley C.

Amazing food ! I tried the duck bacon fries at the union square market and fell in LOVE ! The service was fast and the lady was able to explain how the fires were different . The ambience was amazing ! People were lined up and talking about the fries looks great. People passing by would comment on the delicious smell. There ate little high tables right next to the booth so that you can enjoy the food .

Season Poutine

What the actual Duck; I found a place that serves a great duck poutine outside of Canada! Duck Season can be found in 3 locations during Smorgasburg: Prospect Park (where I went), Jersey City, and the WTC, running from April to October on certain days. I ordered the Season Poutine: Duck fat fries + duck confit + fresh cheese curds + duck gravy. It was $17 and hoped it was going to be worth it. Folks, this did not disappoint. They're 100% legit. First, the serving was ENORMOUS. On my best eating day, I would not be able to finish it by myself. The fries were perfectly double-fried, a combo of slightly oily yet crispy that is on-point for these style of fries. (Think: a little softer than Belgian frites.) I like me some salty poutine and this was perfect. Others may find it too salty for their liking. They're SUPER-generous with the curds and gravy. (The gravy isn't a full demi-glace but way more like a demi-glace than a traditional flour-heavy gravy.) Check them out! At Smorgasburg or their location in Williamsburg

Grabbed some poutine to go from Smorgasburg and man this stand knocks it out of the park every time. I'd been struggling to find a consistent poutine place, but this is hands down my favorite. Generous portions, so worth sharing as well.

Ordered the duck fat fries which was probably the most expensive order of fries I've ever had, although to be fair it was quite large. Sadly, I think the fat was used for too many batches that it had lost it's flavor.

Been coming here for a couple of years at both their Prospect Park and Williamsburg location. One of the the best, juiciest burgers I have had, you can't go wrong with a double burger that is cooked in duck fat be sure to get the add on of cheese & duck bacon. Yum

I love this place. Very good food and you get a good amount for what you will pay. The best item to get from this eatery is the duck fries. Extremely tasty and very good fries in general. These fries have a taste that cant be beat. Highly recommend going here and must order the duck fries. Delicious!

Love duck. Love it in every way. Wish the sandwich had more duck flavor. Also wish the duck meat was a bit more juicy. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. I'll come back and try other items in the future.

Montreal poutine

Once you have had poutine from Canada, nothing else will do, it seems. Even for a place that boasts a menu of delicious duck items. I got a Montreal poutine and now I know better. The portion was huge, but it was unfortunately quite underwhelming. Fries were dry and hard. They tasted like they had been through the fryer twice, or maybe 3 or 4 times. Also were salted to high heaven. Which made it nearly impossible to taste the bland watery gravy, which was completely undiscernible on the fries, save for the puddle at the bottom. Cheese curds were not squeaky, but I'll let that one go, since none of the poutines I've had in NY ever got that part right. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe the duck items are the way to go here, but it's a hard pass on the "Montreal poutine".

Duck season had a fairly long line at the new Smorgasburg on Canal. We decided to give it a try. $12 for the Brooklyn poutine (duck bacon with sauce over fries). They forgot our order, or gave it away to someone else, I don't know. We were waiting ~15 minutes until a man (who I think was the manager) noticed and told the staff to get our order ready. They forgot AGAIN. After watching everyone get their orders in a matter of minutes/seconds, we mentioned that we had been waiting for an unreasonably long time. We quickly got our food. It was just okay. Glorified French fries at the end of the day. I'll skip it next time I visit Smorgasburg

amazing poutine

We stumbled upon this place as we were wandering around Smorgasburg and it was absolutely the best food find of the whole day. I'm a huge fan of loaded fries, and the poutine I got from here is still to date the best I've ever had! The fries were perfectly salty, the cheese curds huge and plentiful, and the gravy just delicious. The price was very reasonable for the huge portion given. This was the best street food I had during my visit to NYC. Definitely better than any hot dog or pretzel you could ever get!

Quick recap: this is a review of one of their posts, in particular at Bryant Park. Delicious. The burger was on the the few burgers I bit into and said "damn ... let me get another bite". The bun is light toasted in what I assume is duck fat and my God. It's delicious. The wings are also delicious, but nothing stood out that made them 10x better than others. I will say tho they had a nice crisp to them but way too much sauce. While I appreciate a wet wing, mine just happened to be drenched more than I have ever seen in the past so this might be a positive for some readers. Again, taste was great. Definitely recommend checking out. I'm still thinking about that burger

Brooklyn poutine and Season Sandwich
Henry M.

Tried Duck Season at Bryant Park Holiday Shops (it's actually at The Lodge). A bit of a pricey option, but one of the more creative eats at The Lodge. Had the Brooklyn Poutine, which is a poutine with cheese sauce, duck gravy, and duck bacon. At $14, it's a bit pricey, but it was a large serving and tasted pretty good. The duck bacon was an interesting flavor. I wish it was a bit more smokey or that they had put it on the griddle to get some color on it, but it was decent the way it was. Instead of the cheese sauce, I would have preferred normal cheese curds. The duck gravy, however, was the star that brought the dish together. The fries were fried in duck fat and were delicious. It was a very heavy side dish, but I expected that going in. I do wish they had put something acidic on top to balance it out a bit. Some pickled onions or something would have gone a long way. Also had the Season Sandwich, which is a duck confit sandwich. Didn't really like the brioche bun as it ate a bit dry. The duck confit seemed a bit dry as well, so the whole sandwich just felt dry. There definitely was not enough sauce. Here, though, I appreciated the addition of crispy fried onions as well as a pickled onion. That added a whole other dimension to the burger. For $14, I don't think I'd order this again. I'm glad I tried this place and the food was okay, but I'm not sure I'd return. It didn't really wow me. Should have had a Chimney Cake at The Stackery instead.

AMAZING FRIES! everything else looked and smelled amazing too. The duck gravy was really good but honestly the duck fat mayo was out of this world. The people I was with, who usually hate mayo, loved the duck mayo. The seasoning was awesome.

Although it's a South American food spot, with authentic Latin flavors, this joint is owned by a Korean family. They used to live in Peru, Argentina, and more counties in South America before moving to Brooklyn. All of their recipes show their unique family history in South America. From Argentinian styled empanadas to Peruvian styled rotisserie chicken... it's all done really well. So well that people are surprised every time they meet the owners! lol. This is a grab and go place and it gets busy! But there is a little bit of seating in the back if you need to sit and eat there. The staff work really hard to make sure everyone gets their order in a good time. And they are all so nice. I really love their rotisserie chicken and it's paired well with their fries, salad, and even rice. Their potato salad is simply seasoned but realllyyy good; truly nothing over the top with their seasoning for it but somehow it really hits the spot when you eat it with the chicken. I also tried the grilled lemon chicken with the lo mein and loved that too! I didn't finish it all in one sitting so I had that for lunch the next day. Haha. The fried shrimp was also very good. Loved dipping it as well as the chicken, into their house green sauce. The green sauce is crack!!!!! You must get lots of it. Highly recommend visiting this neighborhood staple soon or to order it delivered to your place. :)
