Visited their food truck at an event since it was one with the shortest line. Decent sized chicken tenders and I think they gave me like 4? Texas toast was good but isn't it always. But the food was just Luke warm and I ate it immediately. I appreciate that they didn't fill the lemonade up with 85% ice and 15% juice!! read more

Winner winner chicken dinner! As this was one of the food trucks at the Brooklyn Half Expo yesterday it was a great fit for the hungry crowd gearing up for the race. Delicious and juicy chicken tenders platter which comes with Texas toast and hand cut fries. Good portion for the cost, and it's prepared fresh with only a few minutes to wait. So good! This food truck parked outside my work and I am not disappointed in trying it. The sandwiches on Texas toast are savory and delicious. The toast is soft, crispy and buttery. The chicken is moist and crunchy. Additional sauces are great and I am a big fan of the ole'76 sauce. The fries were good but not nearly the highlight of the meal which was the sandwich. Good service at the counter and most definitely a place I will try again. Definitely worth a shot if you see it in your neighborhood! read more

When I see the chicken truck outside I get hyped! MY FAVORITE truck in NYC! I don't know what kind of magic potion he uses to marinate this chicken but it's uot of this world, super juicy, super soft and just mouthwatering. Also, whatever that dipping sauce is, iTS AMAZING! read more

I wouldn't say they were the best chicken tenders ever, but they were tasty! A good ratio of chicken to breading. Their sauce was good too. It paired with the chicken and fries well. I feel it was a bit pricy for what it was though. $20 for three small tenders, some fries and a piece of bread. It was good for a quick hunger fix, but I wouldn't go out of my way to find where this food truck is. read more

I'm always down to try new chicken, especially when it's claimed to be one of the best. I've seen Yankee Doodle Dandy parked outside my office building almost daily. Their 4.5 star overall rating is what got me to order from them one day. The guy in the truck who took my order was super friendly, and gave me my food pretty quickly. I ordered the Winner Winner Chicken Dinner combo which came with chicken tenders, fries, and a slice of Texas toast. The fries and sauce were a great combo, and the Texas toast was buttery-goodness. The chicken tenders, however, were a bit of a salt bomb. I had to rub the breading off to be able to finish them after my first one. I'm was hoping for more with the all the raving reviews. Maybe I'll give them another chance in the future, or try their chicken sandwich instead. read more

Stopped by the food truck to grab a quick lunch to take back to the office. Decided on the Buffalo soldier platter. The chicken was really good; the buffalo sauce is definitely custom and not just off the shelf. The sauce did take away from some of the crispiness on the chicken, but that also could've been because it took me 15 min before I started eating it. Whatever the sauce they gave for the fries wasn't the best, but ok. I would go again to check out the sandwiches or other flavors. Lots of food for 14 bucks which is nice. Definitely get your moneys worth. The truck worker was super friendly and outgoing. Made small talk with everyone who ordered. I read the story behind the business on a poster on the truck - pretty inspiring story and glad to see he now can do what he loves! read more

You ever eat something so good you start questioning your life choices? Like, why didn't I major in "Chicken Finger Appreciation" instead of Business? These chicken fingers are life-changing. The breading? Crispy perfection. It's like a golden suit of armor protecting the tender, juicy chicken inside. And the seasoning? I don't know what wizardry they sprinkle on top, but it tastes like happiness and success had a baby. Oh, and the dipping sauce? It deserves its own spin-off series. It's so good I considered drinking it through a straw. These chicken fingers aren't just food--they're an emotional journey. 10/10, would sell my soul for another basket. read more

Damn, that chicken is clucking awesome! I've been walking by this truck for months because the line is always ridiculously long. Now I see why. Amazing American Club, phenomenal chicken, crisp bacon, and delicious sauce. Absolutely worth the wait and now my new favorite truck on Madison Ave! The chicken is their bread and butter and definitely fantastic, but these are also some of the best fries I've had in a long time. Had I known it was this good, I would have been standing in that line weeks ago. I was going to take a picture, but my sandwich seems to have disappeared... read more

Chicken is good, not as flavorful as expected. Probably could use some salt. However, good quality. Gentleman could have explained that the price is the same with or without any sides. $10 for 3 tenders. Came with a delicious sauce on the side. I wish they would update on their twitter daily. I been trying to look for them for the same spot at downtown Manhattan ever since when I first spot them. But I haven't see them ever since. I know they used to be closed to 6th Ave & 46th St. I had the chicken tender with fries. The Chicken is really juicy and it is cooked to perfection. The toast & fries is really good also. Hopefully they are back to downtown Manhattan soon. Can't wait to get my hands on them. Yes I am a big fan of them. read more

Was at an event in NJ. Went up to his food truck. 1 person was behind me. She got a chicken sandwich an a drink, I saw the total n it was $24. I went to order. All his prices were covered in a green tape except the bottom 2 listing. I ordered a winner winner dish w no drink. I was and gave him a $2 tip. He gave us the food, I paid for it and left. I turned around to ask him how much was it and he said $24! I was like what and turned around again to leave. We had 2 chicken tenders and French fries! I we t back again to double check and yup it was $24.95. The food truck next to him was $12 for chicken tenders and fries and the next truck was $15 for the same thing. I was so upset! I called the business the next day and asked him how much was the winner winner dish, he wouldn't give me an answer but asked why I asked him. I explained what happened and he said that they were fresh n I said he was price gouging and I was reporting to the BBB abd leaving a 1 star review. So I did and then he started to text all mean and nasty stuff about me. So I am just making buyers aware of his food truck n his nasty little attitude calling me a lier and that the prices were shown. read more

- love the chicken tenders - they do not service alcohol - love the bread that comes with the tenders - The fries are decent - I especially loved the potato salad (It has a high mustard content, if you care about the at stuff) - The Cole slaw is mayo based, which I do not approve of - service is great - If you pay cash, you save roughly $2per order - This is a great source of picnic food for domino park read more

I'm glad that Yankee Doodle dandy is around and I will certainly try their food again! The service was truly pleasant and the man who took my order (might've been josh?) bent over backwards to make sure I was happy. My suggestion would be that they need to make the tenders crispier, because it's the contrast of crispy and juicy that makes a perfect nugget. The seasoning was really good, but the world of chicken and specifically chicken nuggets is so saturated, that they should try to make sure there's more crunch. The fries are really good, the toast is wonderful, and the potato is salad is good as well! read more

Worse garbage ever.. I don't know what was worse the food or the a$$h*** taking your money ... they don't know what customer service is , you order one thing and they choose a similar option that's more expensive and tell you that's what you ordered ... like do they think everyone is just drunk and will eat whatever you give them ... walking up to the truck ,not good people stay away . This is a solid choice for lunch if you are in the area. I came today around 1 and the line wasn't too deep. I didn't have to wait long after ordering for my food either. I got the winner winner. It's a 4 piece chicken tender meal that came with French fries, Texas toast, and your choice of potato salad, coleslaw, or a pickle all for $11! Honestly, it's a lot of food for the price. The chicken tenders were so delicious. Not dry or bland. They have their own sauce which was really good. At first, I was disappointed they didn't have BBQ sauce, but after tasting their sauce I was very impressed. I don't typically eat fried food but I will definitely be coming back. read more

Let's start with the service. From the moment you walk up to the truck, you're treated like family. High energy, big smiles and just people who you can tell are really proud to share their love for food with you. The owner knows what he's talking about too "he did win who wants to be a millionaire". Got the chicken sandwich (juicy and delicious) the sauce was on point, fries were great (recommend them Cajun style) and if you don't ask for Mama June's famous potato salad, I feel sorry for you. read more

In December 2012, I met a guy in the overflow line waiting for a bus to Boston who told me about how he wanted to open up shop in New York and make true, southern style chicken with good southern hospitality. He said he wanted to call his place "Yankee Doodle Dandy's". Don't get me wrong, there is nothing more American that witnessing someone achieve what they set out to do, but after 3.5 years of waiting, I had high expectations for this chicken. And those expectations were definitely exceeded today. Real talk, I hate condiments. Especially ones that are salmon or red in color (old childhood trauma we don't need to talk about). That being said, the 1776 sauce made my sandwich. The dill in the sauce perfectly complemented the pickles in the sandwich and didn't overpower the rest of the ingredients which definitely left room for the chicken to really shine. And those chicken tenders - the breading on that chicken was on point - beautifully seasoned, perfectly crisp, and great in quality. Five stars - but if I could give it 50 (soon to be 51) stars, I would. read more

Thanks for coming to Metro Tech! I tried the Buffalo Soldier today. I was JUST going to ask pretty please to have a salad option--but there it is, America the Beautiful. It was way too hot outside to read the whole menu. Yes I will be back! Great big pieces of chicken, buffalo sauce wonderfully spicy, and yes, Spirit of '76 IS better than mayo, tangy yet cooling on the palate. Really nice guys working the truck. Thank you again! P.S. Upon the founding of this great republic of the United States of America, Benjamin Franklin had pushed for the national bird to be a turkey, calling the Thanksgiving mascot a "bird of Courage, [who] would not hesitate to attack a Grenadier of the British Guards who should presume to invade his Farm Yard with a red Coat on". Yankee Doodle Dandy's takes the delicious poultry cousin of the turkey and dressing him up in star spangled regalia, hopes to pass the bird off as deserving of your lunchtime meal. Sadly, this fine feathered friend off the back of a truck fails to live up to the regal heights other chickens have set - even those a fast food places nearby. While the whole story of Yankee Doodle Dandy's is admirable (after winning Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, they used the million dollars to open and start these trucks), the food is not. My understanding of a rubber chicken was that it was supposed to be used for gags and prop comedy, not fried up and served on a bun. Not only was the chicken in my Love Me Tender Chicken Sandwich rubbery and chewy, but it was utterly devoid of flavor as well. This is a sad fact, as there is so much chicken on the bun and so little of it is actually enjoyable. While the recommendation was to slather the sandwich with their "Spirit of 76" sauce (a mix of mayo, ketchup and seasoning), this did little to add to the overall enjoyability of the sandwich. However, the fries that came with the meal were a great take on the usually overlooked potato - covered in an amazing seasoning, which was complimented nicely with the Spirit of 76 sauce. Overall, the chicken could use another American Revolution in order to get me to order from this truck again. read more

I really wanted to like the food here but it's just not very good. The fries and coleslaw were decent but the main item they serve is chicken tenders which were below average at best. Like other reviewers I found their chicken's tenders chewy and rubbery. I've never had tenders that had such an unpleasant texture. Maybe it's the quality of the chicken or the lack of brining but the chicken was pretty bad. read more
