Well it certainly was worth getting lost on the way from Lake Geneva. I love supper clubs and this one is fantastic!! The room is filled with stuffed fowl and we were the youngest people dining by 20 years. So they start you off with crackers, bread, and cheese. I got the combo of a petit fillet and 1.4 duck o'lorange and the wife had the cherries jubilee duck. Some of the finest duck I've ever eaten. And the had pheasant on the menu which I was really curious about. Almost forgot to mention that each meal comes with soup or salad. I had an amazing duck-vegetable soup and the wife had the spinach salad with warm bacon dressing. They give you so much food, that we couldn't even look at the desert tray. And our tab was $75 with a nice bottle of wine. We were livin the high life. read more

Old school Wisconsin supper clubs are one of my favorite things about coming home to Wisconsin. And this place is one of my favorites. The food is phenomenal, while I get the half baked duck every time, I have sampled other items from family. Duck is one of my favorite foods and they do it so perfectly here. Always cooked so it's unbelievable tender and juicy, the skin has that little crisp and saltiness that makes it so good. The service is always wonderful, we always have a great time chatting up the bartenders and ordering fun cocktails. I especially love coming here on cold winter nights, the atmosphere is so warm and cozy with all the lights and fire they have going, makes for a great experience. This is place is one of my favorites any where and always will be. read more

I was really excited to come here but there were some highs and lows to my experience. First off I loved the nostalgia of the place and the duck and fish swimming behind the bar. I was dining alone and didn't want to sit at a table in the main dining room by myself. So I sat at the bar and had an Old Fashioned. I asked the bartender if I could eat at the bar and it was a major ordeal. They had to bring over a server with a menu and table setting. I guess they never had someone ask for this request before. The bartender wasn't allowed to hand me a menu and serve or order my dinner. Another waitress had to come over. The homemade flatbread or crackers that came with the homemade cheese spread were fabulous!! French onion soup that came with my dinner was good too. But the Salmon that I ordered was awful. It wasn't as savory as they described. It was dried out. My green beans were also horrible. Crunchy and bland with almonds sprinkled on top. The Parmesan smashed potatoes were good. I think if I went back again i would try something else on the menu or just sit at the bar and drink since their bartenders were on point. A+ on the service. read more

I was very disappointed that for what they charge the food was not better. Scallops had no flavor, steak was over done, escargo had no flavor and the blue gill you could only taste the pretzel breading. It was a very big let down for us, and the bill was lets just say high, for the food we recieved. We will go back to our normal club the bills the same and the food is outstanding. read more

We went for dinner on a Friday and they should warn you if you don't get the fish fry, be prepared to wait over an hour for food. She actually didn't even tell us there was a fish fry. Clam chowder. Amazing. My spouse had cod fish fry. All you can eat. Unbelievable. Potato pancakes. None better in Jefferson County. Worth the drive from Fort Atkinson. We are from Chicago and you could not get this quality and taste anywhere in Chicago when it comes to duck dishes. Fresh not frozen is the key. Service top notch. This is a keeper! read more

My wife and I have eaten at the "Duckie" many times and we love it. There is a huge bar and you don't need to worry about drunken 21-year-olds getting in fights - this is definitely an older crowd - a good mix of 30-70 year-olds. Drinks are generous. Everything I've had here has been very good - from fresh fish to shrimp to chicken and beef. Soups and salads are excellent. The Friday fish fry is great - get there early or a little late to avoid a wait. The atmosphere is classy. read more

A classic Wisconsin supper club that is well worth the drive to its rural location. The dining room is reminiscent of an Alpine lodge and the food is excellent (get the duck!). A true dining experience, each entree comes with several courses (bread, soup or salad, potato, etc.). The fish fry is also excellent. The retro bar area is a great place for a drink before your meal and will make you feel like you've stepped back in time. Great, friendly service and top-quality food. Love this place. read more

My wife and I came here on a Saturday night. We did not have reservations, and were told it would be a 30-40 minute wait. No big deal, as we sat at the bar and had some cocktails. After about 45 minutes, I went to the hostess and asked where we stood, and she told me there were all these reservations she had to sit first, and it could be up to another 45 minutes. She also said she did not know why we were told it would be a 30-40 minute wait when we arrived. Disappointed, I went back to the bar to settle the tab as we were not going to wait any longer. The man who settled our tab was also the owner of the restaurant. We told him what happened, and he said he'd check on it. He came back and said a table was being cleared and we would be seated in five minutes, which we were. Maybe I'm spoiled since I live near Chicago, but the NY Strip I had was OK; not great. They do give you a lot for your money here, with soup/salad and generous sides. But again, the service was very poor. Our waitress would disappear for minutes on end as it took over ten minutes to get our bill. My advice is to be sure to get a reservation for this place. read more

Fish fry was good but when you are seated at 6:05pm and you leave at 7:50pm and all you order is a fish fry for 4 people that is not good. People all around who were seated after us were getting their food. Group of 10 that was seated almost 15 minutes after us were leaving with us. Maybe the locals are served first. read more

They don't make them like this anymore. Surprised that none of the reviews mentioned the heavy pour Manhattans served at the bar. I had the roasted duck a few months ago and found that it was a bit dry. Last night, I had the prime rib which was a strong choice. I wish they enforced some sort of dress code since this isn't a Culver's. A lot of hunting hats and Carhartt overalls. Visited this restaurant on a sat nite to celebrate our anniversary. My husband & I ordered the prime rib. The queen cut portion is a good size & quality of the meat was excellent & very tasty. We plan to go back with our whole family. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for Xmas and the fireplace was a nice touch. Highly recommend this place. read more

Definitely over priced! My wife and I decided to try this place and we decided to splurge and get some of their higher end dishes. Our bill was over a hundred for just the two us. Spending the money was not the concern. It was the level they prepared their food and their presentation. Ritz cracker in pre-packaged packets with cheese spread. the duck, lobster, and steak were all over cooked. The mashed potatoes were not great. The best part was the asparagus soup. I've had two trips to the Duck Inn. They are a 3.5 star joint for me. The name is cute and clever, but I do have to say I was a little disappointed by their duck entrée I ordered on my first visit. However, you definitely get a hearty meal. My second visit was for their Friday Fish Fry. We had a big group, because we were celebrating a pair of birthdays and a wedding anniversary. The Duck Inn has great accommodations for big groups and families. I thought their fried cod was pretty tasty, and they have some really nice beverage selections! You should probably get a reservation Friday evenings--for how big this place is, it's impressive how quickly they fill up! read more

Duck Inn served the traditional supper club favorite: cheese ball, crackers and fresh veggies. Several duck entrees to choose from but we both ordered one of the specials. Was expecting better from the other reviews I read. The Duck Inn has a typical supper club feel which we really like. The old fashions were very good as they should be at a supper club. My wife had the queen prime rib and it was good. Nice size and not to much fat. I had the beef tenderloin rouladen which was one of their featured entrees. The red cabbage was very good as was the baby potatoes, but the rouladen was just ok. The beef was not very tender and I only received one small roll. I was disappointed to leave a supper club still hungry. read more

Stopped in for dinner on a Wednesday evening around 6:30. The place was only about half full. Service was horrible! 45 minutes before we even got our salads. I ordered a filet medium and it was rare...too hungry by the time it arrived to send it back. Husband had salmon which he loved. read more

Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous! I had the Duck al'orange. So good. The atmosperere is great as well. Very rustic and kinda outdoorsy, lots of wood with a bit of class. This place is constantly packed. Very well known in the area for the quality of food. My parents say the fish there is very good as well and my sister inlaw ranted and raved about the baked cod served not in portions but large filets. read more

We had a great experience here tonight on our road trip from MA to MN. Found it by doing a little online research and dove right in. First off, the atmosphere in the place is just what we were looking for. Old decor, nice old bar area, just a great-feeling old place. We didn't know about the Wisconsin supper-club tradition, but we got into it right away at this place. So we were ready for some compromises on the food because old places like this can sometimes serve stuff that's a bit heavy and sometimes even a little gross. No matter--we're willing to relax our standards just to get in on something totally local that's been around for a good long while. But there were no compromises needed at this place! We first realized something was up when my wife said, "Wait a minute! I think this peppercorn ranch dressing on the salad is homemade." Sure enough, we asked the waitress (who was great), and she said yes indeed it is. The duck soup was hearty and great too, and waitress brought out fresh dinner rolls and Swedish flatbread as soon as they came out of the oven, All really really good. I had the Hunters style pork medallions with spaetzle. I loved it. The sauce was very rich and dark, with a mushroomy flavor. The pork was breaded and fried and stayed crispy and tender in the sauce. I've had lots of this kind of thing in my lifetime--schnitzel and veal parm and orange crispy beef etc. etc.--but this was among the best in the way the sauce and the breading and the meat itself came together. It was a huge portion, and I ate it all. My wife loved her shrimp dinner too, which again was really breaded and fried well. Kids had duck soup and a hamburger, and they did well with them. Also loved the fresh-baked cookie that came with the kids meal. Again, the waitress was great and the whole dinner came to less than a hundred bucks (wife and I each had a cocktail and a glass of wine). I can't imagine a better WI supper club experience. read more

We have been going to the Duck inn for years. We have never had a bad meal. The service is impeccable, as is the establishment. Much of the credit goes to the owner, who trains and hires the excellent staff. We always enjoy a cocktail and a leisurely, well prepared, well served dinner...and on occasion, a delicious dessert! Definitely the old school supper club style restaurant. We stopped by on a Wednesday night for the $20.00 prime rib special. It was moderately busy when we got there, probably 6 tables or so. However, there was no hostess. We waited about 5 minutes until a waitress appeared and said "I don't know where the hostess is. I'll be right back!". She then seated us. We both had the special. The prime rib was very decent. I feel that it was an ok value for the price. However, the service was very slow. I think our waitress was being stretched out thin between serving the tables by the bar and us. (I really don't blame her.) We had to wait about 10 minutes to get someone to refill our water (while thirsty) and about 15 minutes to find the waitress for our check. So, not a bad meal, but the service was slow. I have been to the Duck Inn many times, however, tonight may be my last. Make sure when you order you ask your server if you are ordering a halve order or a full order. The menu item I am referring to is the King Crab Legs. Price listed as Market Price. NOT A PROBLEM. I have eaten in restaurants from New York to California and a full order of King crab legs is 16 oz. or 1lb, Not at the Duck Inn, at the Duck Inn the menu reads full or half does not tell you the size different (full being 32 oz. and half 16 oz.), however your server never mentions that, she only mentions half or full. The average person believes when one orders a full order they are ordering a full order or 1 lb. My wife orders what she believes is 1 lb. of crab legs served half sat a time so they are warm when served. When the check come the charge is $ 76.00, when I questioned the charge, the owner tells me a full order is 2 lbs. than insults, me by saying if price is a problem I should have ordered a different item. Don't tell me what I can afford or not afford. Be honest with you guests and tell them on your menu what the difference is in the size of the customer's choices, price is not the problem, let the customer decide. I am only writing this as a notice to future guest and as a strong suggestion to the owner. Be honest to your guests and provide menu offerings with the best information concerning menu choices. If your food and service is fine enough provide all information. BE HONEST!!! read more

Very nice traditional Wisconsin supper club. The staff was friendly once we got seated, and we enjoyed the food (barbecued ribs and the evening's special, baked chicken). We didn't try the duck and the food was generous enough that we didn't need dessert. Seems a step above the usual supper club food-wise. read more

The Duck Inn has a great Wisconsin supper club atmosphere, comfortable and always nicely decorated. This place is much more special than a typical restaurant, pub or sports bar. Dining room has a nice fire place for those cold winter nights. The bar is cozy and bartenders are always personable and make great drinks. Classic supper club bar with padded armrests, so you can sit, relax and drink in comfort. The ice cream drinks are the best you can get. We take all of our out of town friends and family for special dinners and drinks at "The Duck". Fish Fry is always good, as well as the jumbo fried shrimp. Drunkin Duck and Apple Brandy Duck is great...with homemade spaetzels. The Grecian pork chops are very good. Order the spinach salad with hot bacon dressing. And the hostesses and servers are always very friendly. read more
