Disappointed in last evenings experience. Last minute reservations, took bar seating because time was better. It was obvious that the bartenders provided better service to "regulars". Not one bartender asked if we wanted a refill on our cocktails, never cleared plates from appetizers, had to ask for steak knife. On either side of us steak knifes were placed right after ordering, appetizer plates cleared when finished with them. Food was sub-par from our past experiences. We both ordered prime rib. It was very fatty amd tough, flavor was ok but too much salt. Yes we order prime rib often and various restaurants, so we know a good flavor profile. We may only frequent Jonathan's a handful of times a year, but we always felt we were getting great value for the price. This has been the best restaurant that we've eaten at in the area. The menu is fantastic, the food is great, and the service is excellent. Our appetizers and dessert were the stars of the show. The place felt more upscale than most places in the area. The only thing detracting from that was the gambling machines which cheapened the experience. Drove by here several times while going through main street Delavan, and decided this time we would stop and try it out. Semi casual steak and chophouse. On weekends, I highly recommend reservations. Quite an extensive variety of dishes, primarily steak and seafood. I had the surf and turf. Everything was cooked to perfection! Crab cake appetizers were also great. I recently experienced Jonathan's on Brick Street for dinner and was not disappointed... My sister made arrangements for a babysitter and also made us a reservation for four... it was a double date night for my husband and I as well as my sister and bro-in-law. What a treat! Jonathan's provides a classy ambiance with good vibes all around. We found street parking and checked in with the hostess stand. We took some photos in the entry area and were seated promptly. Service was extremely attentive, and we enjoyed the majority of our food and drinks. For appetizers, we had the calamari and scallops - both were delicious. My sister and I shared a Caesar Salad with shrimp, which was also very good. My husband / bro-in-law raved about the Chicken Piccata and Kansas City NY Strip on special. The only item that was not so good was the pasta... it was super rich for our taste. We definitely did not need desserts but we ordered them anyways... a carrot cake and a key lime pie provided a sweet ending to a memorable evening. We last minute snagged an early reservation for date night dinner and were really impressed with the food. The restaurant itself was no-frills and simple, but the food was what stood out! Our service was great as well. We started with a nice bottle of red and enjoyed the jumbo sea scallops for an appetizer. This was a delicious dish with some fresh arugula, and we also got some French onion soup which was tasty. We went with the dry aged ribeye special and the seafood stuffed walleye. Both were delicious- especially the ribeye was so flavorful and great quality. I like how the dishes came with veggies and a starch - the truffle red potatoes were an excellent side. The garden salad side I ordered was also a great portion with delicious homemade ceasar dressing. The food overall was excellent all around and at stellar prices. Maybe the best restaurant in Southern Wisconsin. Great menu with a nice variety of fish and meats. The pita with artichoke dip is a winner of an appetizer. We were given a gift card for Christmas and finally made our way in. I can't believe we waited so long! The food was AWESOME! The decor, service, food, drinks, and overall ambiance were fantastic. My wife and I had an excellent experience here. Our server could not have been more friendly and his recommendations were superb. The Oyster duet (Rockefeller and Casino) were simply outstanding, as was the baked french onion soup. My Ribeye was cooked perfectly, but my wife got a mixed grill fish special that had grouper, swordfish and halibut that stole the show. We got a high top table at the bar, providing an ambiance that was refined without being pretentious. I will definitely be back to try the Rocky Mountain mixed grill. read more

I usually love Jonathan's and come here when in Lake Geneva. I was here twice last month. Both times we had Bud as a server. Great service, engaging and knows the menu well. I love the grouper cheeks that are on special occasionally but missed them on my last two visits. Earlier in July, Bud recommended the halibut done piccata style. It was melt in your mouth delicious! He said it would be a good close second to the the grouper cheeks. He was right. On my last visit with girlfriends, I had the grouper prepared piccata style. What a difference. I don't know what happened but the fish didn't taste good and the sauce was not the same. Piccata style is so simple, lemon, white wine and lots of lemon. Plus the grouper was not moist and tender. They missed the mark this time. I didn't make a dent in the dish. And my girlfriend felt the same. A big fail. I do have to say the alfredo flatbread starter was amazing, as was the French onion soup. Good cocktails, too. Bud took care of everything and took the uneaten dinners off our bill. Without us saying anything but we didn't enjoy our dinners when he saw our plates hardly touched. We. Of course, tipped well on the total bill because Bud was excellent. Just an off night in the kitchen. I Even with this experience, I will go back because usually everything is great here. Make sure to make reservations, though, as it is a popular spot. read more

Wonderful atmosphere and delicious dinner. We were fortunate to find an up front, nice and close parking spot on the Main Street directly in front of Jonathan's. A handicap accessible ramp to the front door was an option that we appreciated. Warm greeting from hostess, well prepared drinks at the bar before being seated to eat. We always arrive early to be able to have a drink or two at the bar. We were very happy they did not rush us to be seated. Great dinner table for two and service from James. Timing of each course was perfect, as was our A+ meal. Oysters to appetize, spinach salad, ribeye, and lamb loin. We do love the food there. Service is really good, and it's a super cute restaurant very clean in downtown Delavan. One visit stands out to me, and I wish I could describe the dish better for everyone , but it was a thick pork chop sliced, smoked with a lot going on I remember blueberries, and a mashed potato's, and it being crazy good. Jonathan's on Brick Street The restaurant is small, LOUD, and congested. I definitely would not recommend for any type of romantic gathering-keeping this in mind our recent evening was to be a fun dining celebration, and it should be suited for as such. Recently we attended a birthday party celebration for 14 people, at Jonathan's on Brick Street in Delavan. The host and birthday person graciously planned, invited, and paid for the event for himself and his 14 guests. When we arrived we were seated and realized there was no way 14 adults were to fit around the couple tables shoved next to the back wall-maybe 10 people at the most should have been seated there. After much awkward deliberation and attitude from the manager on the floor, our group was finally moved to another area where more room was available. This reservation was made a couple months prior so you would expect this to have been planned for better. Unknown to the host and most guests, there was to be a birthday singing telegram at the table planned ahead of time by a guest. Apparently, it was more than what was agreed to with the owner Jonathan, and the manager Brian who was a reprehensible jerk about it-absolutely no customer appreciation or service at this point, and he was already seething for having to accommodate our seating. A waitress from across the room rudely yelled at the performer and demanded him to leave-a bit out of her line of authority none-the-less. The performers graciously obliged the raging waitress but the manager was indignant and responded rudely to our party's host who was apologetic-as it was no fault of his own. Let it be known-that evening there were several other performances of birthday singing and clapping at other patron tables-indicative of a loud celebratory environment regardless. Hindsight would have suggested moving our singing telegram to the bar or outside since it was nice weather. The way the staff handled it was appalling and self serving-and did no one any favors for a dining experience. Now, about the food-we were assigned one waiter for our large group who was the only shining star of the evening for his work ethic and demeanor. He was intuitively attentive but at times overwhelmed. He worked fervishly to get our drinks and orders. I can't speak for others but I thought the appetizers were good (brushetta and artichoke dip and a couple others) but my entree was served cold (Angus tenderloin topped with garlic stuffed mushrooms) It was over seasoned and dry with salty gravy poured over it...and not hot, nor the accompanying potatoes. My hot bacon over spinach salad was also not "hot". At the end of the evening several of us moved to the bar for after dinner drinks and witnessed the manager yelling at a waitress in front of bar patrons-not acceptable. I'm guessing the host spent probably around $2000 or more at the end of the night with no appreciation from the restaurant, and his celebration was tainted by the rude, ill-mannered, unpleasant, and just nasty demeanor of the manager-Brian. If you enjoy spending a lot of money dining at a place with a horrible manager-where you have to shout your conversations and enjoy cold food-this is your place! Brian needs to re-think his career choice. Also, you shouldn't take a reservation for 16 people if you can't accommodate them, trying to shove them in a hole in the corner of the restaurant because you want their money. read more

This was our first time at Jonathan's and we can't say enough about how great our experience was last night. The food & drinks were outstanding. The service was top-notch and the atmosphere was warm & friendly. You can always tell a great restaurant when even the people at the bar are eating a full meal. There was no-seat open at 5:00pm on a Saturday night. The restaurant was packed! Another bonus, we found out that everything is hand made in-house. Even the bread, salad dressings and desserts are all hand-made in-house. In this world of high prices and price gouging, we thought that Jonathan's prices were more than fair for what you received. (So refreshing!!) We found out that Jonathan's has been open for about 5 years, so we were bummed that we didn't find out about this restaurant earlier, but we will be back again and again! read more

So we decided to come here for my birthday dinner. The restaurant is in a nice are la and very cute inside with the brick and barn doors. I give them a 5 for ambiance, a 3 for drinks, and about a1-2 on food. I feel as though this place has great potential for being great but I think as far as our table it was just an off night. Unfortunately the drive was an hour for us so we are not going to be coming back. Our server Sara was wonderful and the stars in this review do not reflect on her. As for the food the beef French onion soup had good flavor but the amount of thyme or rosemary was overpowering. I ordered the prime rib medium and it was over cooked. My husband ordered the cowboy ribeye and it had a great seat and cook in the outside and that's how they left it, completely raw in the middle. On our plates were also lots of sprinkles of thyme and rosemary on the plate for decoration that interfered with the taste of the food. Our waitress took care of the situation with my husbands steak without any complaints front him but you figure a steak house should have better control over how they cook the food. The food also took well over an hour to come out and cooked on completely different ends of the spectrum from how we wanted them cooked. Except for my baked potato the food also came out cold. I really wanted to like this place and if we lived closer I would like to try it again in the future but it wasn't in the cards for us. read more

We visit Delavan each year for a conference and always visit the same restaurant. Last year we visited Jonathan's and this year went back to see if it was just a fluke... it was not! Jonathan's is almost magical, because how do you get Seafood done so right in Delavan, Wisconsin. I started with the Key Lime Martini, pillowy soft cheese curds and the freshest calamari. All excelllent! For my meal, I had the seafood trio, grouper, scallops and halibut cheeks. I couldn't have asked for a better prepared meal. Sometimes fish is over cooked at even the best restaurants, not at Jonathan's. My partner got the stuffed walleye and it was amazing. For desert we shared a slice of key lime pie.
