Crab roll, fried walleye
Amanda P.

Got to the public market around 11AM and this place was packed! So we decided to come back around 2pm and luckily there was available seating. Our waiter was great, super friendly and always checking in. Food was AMAZING, lots of flavor and the fish fry was my favorite! I wish there was a hot option for their lobster and crab rolls but the cold one was good too! It is super packed with lots of green onion if you are or aren't into that. Great prices for what you get since portions are large and come with sides

Wonderful experience. Service was excellent. Food delicious. Market was busy but not too overwhelming. There were a lot of flies which was annoying but I still enjoyed my experience. Looking forward to another visit.

Man, they don't have enough stars for this place. It is amazing. Nothing was fishy. Everything was delicious. This is just the start of our or service was so fast. Very courteous and very nice. The ambience was typical for a market, so fun and upbeat.omg the Calamari steak was absolutely amazing! The snow crab did not disappoint. Lobster roll was fabulous... I don't think they have anything that it was not delicious at this place. If I ever make it back, this is definitely my place to stop!!!

This small restaurant is located within the public market in the downtown area of Milwaukee. The public market is a cool place overall with lots of eateries and some vendors that sell other stuff. It was my last day in town and I wanted something late with a beer and watch a little bit of the baseball game on TV. I was able to sit at the counter right away and greeted by some friendly folks. I just ordered a few oysters and a beer. They have a great seafood menu and would love to come back and try some more items. Overall, just a really great time and easy in and out. It should be noted that it was during a weekday so it wasn't super crowded. I could imagine this place being packed on the weekends.

The Milwaukee Public Market is busy and a bit overwhelming but after some window shopping, we settled on grabbing food from St. Paul Fish Company. The wait for a table was impossible and actually quite stressful and uncomfortable, so we settled on ordering our food to-go to sit somewhere in the main communal food hall seating. The line to the register was so long I actually was able to decide on my order pretty quickly - the fried oyster po'boy was meaty and crispy, not too overly breaded. The lobster roll meal came with fries and cole slaw for $20, which I found to be super affordable (this price is probably outdated now). A little bit too much filler but understandable and I was ok with it for the price. However, my favorite bite was the New England Clam Chowder, perfect for the rainy fall day. If I'm ever back in Milwaukee, I'd definitely try to dine in next time, but maybe not on a weekend afternoon to avoid the crowds.

I was craving for some good seafood for my trip at Wisconsin so here I went to St Paul Fish company to give it a shot and they did not disappoint! Shout out to Joe as he provided exceptional customer care with a great smile as always! I went on a Sunday at 1 pm so I still needed to check in and waited for 15 minutes to be seated. The place is crowded and please expect the space of seating would be tighter. I ordered fried oyster and scallops dinner. Both are delicious and flavorful! The prices to me are reasonable as well. If I swing by Wisconsin again, I would like to have lunch at this restaurant again!

Grabbed a seat at the bar around 6pm on a Thursday and it was BUSY. Granted it's a holiday weekend. Service was still quick. I went with the pan seared walleye, sub double veggies. It was delicious!! Literally no votes. Vegetables were tasty, fish cooked perfectly, and the sauce was perfect. Good drink prices and daily specials but didn't take advantage this time.

Located in the Milwaukee Public Market, St. Paul Fish Company serves good food. You have to inform the person behind the counter that you want to dine in. It can be very busy. When we walked in after lunch, a table was open and we got seated without waiting. Our server Edith was friendly. Food was very good. My blackened ahi tuna (dinner) was fresh and delicious. I had mine with fried jasmine rice that was flavorful and sauteed vegetables. The lobster roll had meat that could no longer be contained by the warm, golden-brown toasted split-top bun.

Came around 3pm on Friday and surprised at how busy the place was. Tiki bar outside was absolutely overflowing on to the sidewalk. Table service has a 45min wait still. We ordered to go and ate upstairs in the public market - much easier. We ordered a walleye fry fish and crab cakes. The crab cakes were good. The walleye was just one piece of fish not that big and fried with the skin on. It was good but just didn't get enough of it.

Best seafood I've had in a while! The portions were incredibly generous, too. I ordered the bouillabaisse, and it was absolutely delicious. It had a great variety of seafood, including plenty of mussels, clams, fish, calamari, and shrimp. I truly enjoyed it - and even ended up sharing it with my husband because there was just so much food! If you order the bouillabaisse, just know that it is a huge serving. I have quite a few dietary restrictions, so I was especially happy that the food worked so well for me and didn't cause any issues with my stomach. Everything was delicious, and I really enjoyed the experience. If I'm ever in Milwaukee again, I'll definitely be going back for the bouillabaisse!

Must try: Lobster Roll! Why: Loved the butter toasted brioche bun loaded with Lobster! Bun has slightly crispy exterior and was buttery goodness. Fried and coleslaw were also really good. Tons of fries that were also slightly crispy - just how I like it. I ate outside since the weather was nice and enjoyed my meal while people watching. Notes: The workers were friendly and helpful. They have indoor table seating as well as oyster bar area. Many tables outside of market too. This was my first meal during my visit to Milwaukee and what a delicious way to start!

I had a meal here many years ago while in town and enjoyed it. Recently I had the opportunity to return. St. Paul Fish Market is located inside the very busy and popular Milwaukee Public Market indoor shopping complex downtown. It reminds me of the Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle. The only parking option that I am aware of is metered street parking. The building has 2 levels but the 1st floor is where most of the business are. It appeared to me that St. Paul's is the most popular business there. It is a seafood restaurant and fresh fish market. They have a small sit down area for table service dining or you can order your food to go at the counter. After being seated and reviewing the menu I decided to order the same meal I had over 11 years ago. I went with a bowl of clam chowder for $8 to start and then added a fried grouper sandwich ($16) with french fries for another $2.50. The chowder was perfect. Flavorful, delicious and I wanted more (5). The sandwich also was delicious and satisfying made with quality fish, lettuce, tomato, and bread. However while it tasted very good halfway through eating it the bread bun started to disintegrate and then quickly turned to mush before I could finish. Then I needed a fork to finish it. It got messy and I don't like that in a sandwich. It's only for that reason I give an overall 4 score instead of a 5. The french fries were very good tasting too but I had ordered too much food and only had room for a few of them. The table service was very warm and friendly. I believe St. Paul's is a very good choice for a casual seafood meal but please buy more sturdy buns!

How busy @ 5:30 on Saturday's?

Once HH starts it's busy because it's a small bar. But most likely no HH on the weekend call to make sure.May have to wait but worth it. Get the giant Bloody Mary , it's a meal in itself with lobster tail & more. Daily specials are...Mon. Mussels,…

What is the best time to get a seat inside on a Wednesday?

We've gone on various days. Any time before 4:30p it's very easy to get a table inside. A large group may be an exception.

How busy it is on Sunday afternoon?

It gets very busy towards the late afternoon. They do take walk-in reservations and give you a buzzer. What we always do is go a little earlier than the time we want to eat, put our reservation in and walk/shop around the market. Then when your…

We are hoping to dine here this coming Saturday, perhaps around 5-530. What amount of wait time might we expect at that time? Thank you!

At that time on a Saturday can be pretty busy but I think not more than 30 mins

Lobster rolls - Silly question but my lady wants me to ask... The cold lobster salad in the roll is made with mayo? She hates may but wants a lobster roll...

I'm pretty sure the lobster roll is bound together with some mayo from the ones I saw people ordering there. I can tell you it doesn't look like it's much though as they really pack in the meat! I'm sure she won't be disappointed. Been there many…

If it's too busy, can you order your food & drinks, and then go enjoy them in the upstairs area?

Yes you can.

Are there certain menu items that are better when ordering to-go?

I love the lobster roll and tuna salad there! The raw oysters are so fresh and delicious. I would stick to non fried items for to go options! Those might be on the soggy side by the time you eat them.

I am wanting to take my sister out for dinner for her birthday and she loves seafood. I would have a party of 6 and a toddler. Would it be possible to accommodate all of us?

Yes. But if you've never been, this place is very crowded and in the midst of the Public Market. It is NOT a stand alone restaurant. The food is great, but not your typical restaurant. Always very crowded, very casual and lively!

What's the difference between their Friday lake perch fry and their daily perch fry?

The same but cheaper on Friday from 4 till 8.

Seriously, it's like walking into another country!…read more Pan-Asian Supermarket is an experience all on its own. The variety of unique fruits, roots, vegetables, spices, and seafood is incredible. And when I say seafood, I mean it feels like walking into an actual fish market! I'm standing there thinking, Who eats eel? And then wondering, How exactly do you cook a jellyfish head?! And don't even get me started on the Balut egg... WHO is eating that?! But putting my adventurous-food questions aside, this is absolutely the place to come for all your stir-fry, curry, and ramen needs. They have an amazing selection of vegetables, sauces, oils, noodles, and rice--including plenty of options in bulk. The food court looked AMAZING, and whatever you do, DO NOT skip the bakery! The baked goods were soooo good. Whether you're looking for something familiar or want to venture way outside your comfort zone, this place has it all. We'll definitely be adding Pan-Asian Supermarket to our regular store rotation!

H Mart was my favorite, followed by Ranch 99. Unfortunately, here in Wisconsin, I have to now drive nearly 10 miles to get to the closest Asian market! So when I heard Pan Asian was opening in my area (2-3 years ago), I literally marked my calendar for opening day. I'm so happy they're a part of the community now! First off, today, LOUIS deserves a big gold star (if not a raise, hint hint, management, lol). Not only did he stop what he was doing, but walked me over to what I was looking for. TWICE. No eye-rolling, no exasperated sighs - nope, he just said "sure, it's right over here..." THAT kind of customer support alone goes MILES for those who are new or unfamiliar with a place (as I was), and makes me want to return again soon! Like many Asian stores, Pan Asian had elements of "chaos" throughout the store - they were doing lots of stocking when I was there (mid-afternoon on a Wednesday), and the music was a bit too loud (Note to management: background music is supposed to be just that - in the background, quiet and atmospheric - not a dance club). As at other stores, Pan Asian needs to keep tabs on their price tags - many were missing, or the product above the price tag was NOT the product on the tag, or 2 different but similar products by the same brand with only one price tag made shopping a bit frustrating. But as I always do, I'll have a short list of 3-5 items, and end up leaving with a cartful. ‍ For me it's easy to spend a solid hour or more there, just oooh-ing and ahhh-ing over all the exotic items, the live fish, the interesting kitchen goods (even if I can't read 99% of the labels). I always try to leave with something new to me; today, it was pickled plums (I've started making sushi and onigiri at home, and heard pickled plums were a Japanese favorite with onigiri). They're awesome, but very salty, indeed. Their produce section is large, amazing, and FRESH. Hard to choose what to get from that section, as well as their bountiful flavorings, sauces, Speaking of, I was thrilled to find that the store also has an incredible sushi selection and yes, even onigiri too (though TBT the price was a bit steeper than I hoped, and I could not find any onigiri molds in their hard goods section). I must admit that several items I looked at throughout the store seemed rather pricey - not sure if that a tariffs thing, or an import thing - so I will stick with Woodman's for my "regular" shopping, while supplementing with more of the fun Asian items I find at Pan Asian!

Most of those spots only open for dinner, so I was thrilled to find that Bavette La Boucherie now serves lunch. My friend, a local, told me the restaurant originally began as a butcher shop. While that's no longer the case, the space still pays tribute to its roots -- shelves lined with kitchen knick-knacks, butcher-block counters, and a display of local provisions that hint at its past. Chef-owner Karen Bell leads the way here, and you can feel her touch throughout -- from the creative menu to the casual-elegant vibe. The décor blends exposed brick and warm wood with soft light and a friendly hum from the open kitchen. Our server, Matthew R., had only been with Bavette a couple of weeks, but his background in restaurant management showed. He was knowledgeable, attentive, and offered great suggestions. Before our sandwiches arrived, we shared a cup of pork and tomatillo pozole topped with cabbage slaw and a dollop of sour cream. It was piping hot, bright, and deeply flavorful -- the kind of starter that makes you stop talking for a minute just to enjoy the next spoonful. Having read rave reviews of the Korean steak au jus, I nearly ordered it, but Matthew suggested the roast-beef with cheddar since I'm not a big lunch eater. Excellent call. The sandwich was divine -- tender, flavorful beef layered with melted cheddar on a crisp, perfectly toasted roll. The beef-fat fries had great depth of flavor, though I'd love them even more if they were twice-cooked for that extra crunch. Being more of a gin or vodka drinker, I couldn't resist the Gin Old Fashioned on the cocktail list. It was delicious -- smooth, aromatic, and balanced enough that I happily ordered a second. Great food, warm service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Bavette La Boucherie is a gem I can't wait to revisit.

I made a reservation for 6PM on a Wednesday evening and requested a seat for two by the window for a spectacular view. Other than that, the bar experience was fine. When the hostess brought us to our table, she seated us at a large booth away from the window.
