My wife and I ate dinner here in late March. The ambiance was very nice and there weren't many diners probably due to the time of year. This made it so it wasn't a very loud atmosphere. We had conversation and there was music playing at an appropriate volume. The food was good. I had the skirt steak and my wife ordered the lobster pasta. I had a cocktail and we shared dessert. Our server was very attentive and answered all of our questions. The view of the harbor was great as the sun was setting. We enjoyed the resort and we are thinking of coming back in the summer with our kids. We would certainly be coming back to 240 west. read more

We had a fabulous dinner. This restaurant checks all the boxes. Great ambience - we loved the talented piano player and the view of the marina; great service; high quality delicious food. My husband ordered the filet and I ordered the prime rib with Yorkshire pudding (which is so rare to see!). Both meals were amazing. Chef Matthew checked in on us a couple of times and treated us to a sample dessert- this wonderful Scottish Shortbread cookie with Carmel and chocolate ganache. We will visit again. Great, attentive service from seating to the complimentary dessert (an incredible cheesecake that was both rich but also somehow incredibly light and fluffy??) for our celebration, and everything in between delicious and thoughtful. The good bread with the perfect temperature butter, filet cooked exactly how I asked for it, delicious fluffy mashed potatoes (somebody reviewed saying it tasted like boxed? For a supposedly upscale restaurant at a resort, it really disappointed. Our server was very nice and attentive, but it was all downhill from there. My wife ordered a side of mashed potatoes to accompany her salmon and we both said the same thing; seemed like it was instant mashed potatoes from a box. We ordered a bottle of red wine and it felt and tasted like it had been refrigerated. What?! I guess they just throw all the reds and whites together in the fridge. There really is no atmosphere here. You can hear all of the nearby tables' conversations and there's no music to drown out anything. Go here only if you don't want to go to the cheaper restaurant (Waterfront bar) downstairs or don't want to drive. Other than that, make it a miss. read more

Terrible service! We made a reservation for 6:40 pm and we're looking forward to a lovely evening, but after being seated no one came to take care of us for the first 20 minutes. No water, no greeting, no drink order, no nothing as we watched others being served. It was not busy either. We told the hostess who wasn't helpful. We asked to speak with the manager. In the meantime a waitress came over like she was doing is a favor and as we attempted to share our experience she said we were "disrespecting her"! Is this a joke? We again asked to speak to the manager as she was inept in helping remedy the situation but only make tho gs worse. We waited another 10 minutes for the manager to appear. He somehow went to the incorrect table and was sent to us as it was obvious we were the only ones not being served. As we tried to explain what happened to the manager, he attempted to move on to a "fresh start". We were reluctant because we hadn't felt "heard" and we wanted to share the details of what happened. Someone is responsible for the table, which was located in a prime spot with a nice view. Someone on the service "team" should have noticed we were not being served while others were. He did apologize, took ownership, wanted to make things right and allow us to walk away with a more positive experience. While we appreciated the manager's response, I cannot recommend this restaurant to go and have a memorable, relaxing dining experience. Very disappointing. read more

My husband and I went here for our anniversary last night and had such a WONDERFUL experience. The host, Eddie, had a conversation with us about our anniversary and made us feel so special. He went above and beyond. Our waiter, Jack, was excellent. We were all smiles all night, such a sweetheart. There was also live piano music, which was so beautiful. My husband got the salmon and I got the pasta primavera and we shared flourless chocolate cake for dessert. The food was delicious and fresh. We left after booking a reservation for breakfast the following morning with Eddie! Come for the food, but the service is where it's at. The world needs more Jack and Eddies! read more

We've eaten here several times previously, but not most recently. Last night my wife, myself, and an adult grandchild went there for dinner. It was a Sunday night at 7pm. First off, I was surprised to see that it was virtually empty...it's the heart of summer and vacations. Secondly, the menu was much more sparse than I remember...the number of selections, especially entrees, was meager. Third, and most importantly, the quality. portion, presentation left very much to be desired. My grandson ordered a 12oz rib eye steak ($60). When it arrived it certainly looked much smaller than 12oz. Also, it looked rather thin; almost like something that came from a supermarket cooler and not a top end restaurant steak...for $60!!! Next I ordered the lobster roll ($32) which was mostly all bread and a relatively small portion of the lobster, which itself was more like it came from a can, like canned tuna. It was mushy, somewhat stringy and had NO chunks or large pieces of lobster at all. Very disappointing; plus it came with greasy French fries - that's it ($32? Gimmie a break!). My wife had the chicken, which she liked and looked like a decent meal.. However, none of the entrees came with any sides (the French fries excepted); they had to be ordered separately (same with the steak toppings) and healthy prices. There was one dessert ordered. All tolled, this meal for three (only drink was one plain iced tea, the others just drank water) was $180.00!!! That was entirely too high for what was delivered in terms of meal quality and ambience. Our server was very good, however. This was certainly not the 240 West at the Abby that I remember. Wonder if they had a change in ownership? For a vacation high season, the lack of patrons was not only noticeable but possibly an omen? Will not be returning. read more

Pros: Nice views, Nice waitress. Cons: Ambience is lacking. Music is so essential, especially when trying to block out the super obnoxious couple's coversation which was the only other table in the place! Food is okay, but overpriced for just okay. We have given this place 3 tries, but I think we're done now. Advice: Turn on some music, maybe add a dress code to discourage obnoxious fools who wore a t-shirt, shorts AND a baseball hat ALL through dinner from coming in. read more

We are high hopes for dinner tonight. The setting is exquisite. Unfortunately the food was very disappointing. We had a Caesar salad, which was nice and a pasta Primavera with added shrimp. It looked like they steamed the shrimp and just threw it on top of the pasta dish with no seasoning. The pasta prima area was OK but didn't stand out. We then had crème brûlée for dessert and it was one of the least fulfilling crème brûlée I have had. This review is a bit old as it seems I have forgotten to click on the post button. But anyways, I came to this hotel apparently on a very bad weekend as there was a dance competition happening with a lot of young ladies with their dance moms and dads were in town. There was also a lot of snow so we decided to just eat on the premises and went to this place. So in the morning we came here for an open buffet which had few deli meats and cheeses , cereals and veggies and we were charged $70 for it which I thought was ridiculous but that's not why this place gets a one star. We came to the same restaurant at night as it was the only place that was available. And I made the mistake of ordering the old fashioned signature drink. The server was apparently also the bartender. She was an older lady who made my drink. After the first sip I noticed something was wrong so I took another sip and realized that my drink had sparkling water. I thought maybe I didn't check the ingredients of the "signature drink" on the menu so I went back and checked and surprise surprise there was no mention of sparkling water. So when the server came back I asked if she can redo the drink without sparking water and she was surprised but she took it back. She brought it back but this time it had water. So I asked if I can have my old fashioned without any water and that's where she became defensive and said that she has been making this drink for 50 years (making her at least 71 which she probably was not ) and it is how an old fashioned is made and then asked me if I ever had an old fashioned before. So because I'm polite and respectful towards someone who is older than me I chose not to respond to her. But I have to say this was the WORST customer service experience I have ever had in a restaurant. Even if I was completely wrong about the drink ( which I am not), if I asked politely for something then please go and do it and don't be defensive about it. The food was alright and nothing to write about so this place gets a gigantic zero due to this incredibly rude server. read more

The view is lovely but this resort restaurant is in need of improvement. First of all, the service is very slow and inattentive. We ended up eating here 4 times (2 dinners, 2 breakfasts) due to staying at the resort and not wanting to drive. Each time we noticed tables seated after us getting their food. We had trouble finding servers to help us. Dinner was good my husband's burger was excellent, the pizza dough appetizer was very good and I liked the 240 salad and mushroom ravioli. Breakfast was not as good, undercooked omelet, go with the buffet because no one will care to check on you. Overall, you can get the same food without the hassle by ordering room service. read more

Good food from a nice small menu. The service was terrific. The room is delightfully dignified and comfortable. We sat next to the fireplace and could not have been happier. The food, the service and the ambiance was amazing! If you are one of the first people to arrive you can choose between a window seat or a fire place seat. The breakfast buffet was only $15 and the cheapest option compared to anything off of the menu! Loved it here though. As stated in my previous post our stay at The Abbey was excellent. However the food was a major disappointment. The chicken adobo and rice was quite tasty but lacked in presentation. Placing the rice in an alternate place along with adding some veggies like shaved carrots and some green beans would have enhanced the meal. My wife's burger had a burnt egg, burnt bacon, and undercooked French fries. This morning we ate at the breakfast buffet. The pancakes were cardboard and the rest of the food was mediocre. My hope was to not leave the resort and eat at the restaurants within the resort. Unfortunately that wasn't the case due to poor quality of food. In summary The Abbey needs to make some adjustments to their food offerings. This would definitely enhance guest's experience and would draw more patrons. read more

Fortunately found Christmas dinner, reservations only at the beautiful Abby in Fontana. Service was super friendly on this major holiday. They didn't miss a beat and pulled out all the stops! Crab legs, Cornish hens, turkey, prime rib, sushi, shrimp cocktail, caprese salad, charcuterie shooters, Caesar salad, tuna, salmon, dressing, etc! Desserts strawberry shortcake, Swiss rolls, creme brûlée. Coffee was full bodied and fresh as I am a coffee snob this is a very important factor. Beautiful view on the water for those of us lucky enough to get a table there. Otherwise a rustic and cozy comfortable fireplace is also featured, the live music of a pianist with an intermittent horn was a nice touch. Fresh baguette rolls were brought to the table. It's a very relaxing and quality experience. If I had to pick one thing that wasn't 100%, I would have to say the crème brûlée did not have the burnt sugar, but just sprinkle turbinado sugar. Perhaps that was because it was a buffet. Unsure really. All in all it was a great experience and everyone in my party was completely satisfied and everyone had their favorite items. We had the cod and the NY Strip along with the Parmesan rice. That was the best meal we had the entire 4 days we stayed in the area. We dined here last night and this was one of the best dinners I have had in Lake Geneva. Gustavo our waiter was so attentive, caring greatly that we were able to satisfy our dietary needs, and took a great deal of time talking to the chef to make sure everything was perfect. I've written quite a few reviews and this is the first time i would say to never go to this restaurant until something drastically changes. for the price point of this place it was prolly one of the worst experiences. first we had 3 different waitresses, flys flying everywhere. Service was very slow and besides our table of 6 adults and 5 kids 3 other tables were occupied of 3 couples. The halibut priced at $37 was a very small portion and hard as a rock. i took a video of me tapping the fish with my fork and it sounded like i was hitting a piece of wood. prolly the worst thing i've ever seen on a plate in my life. they had a wagyu ribeye from snake river farms which they charred the hell out of. i know char on a steak this was charred them dipped in the charcoal which leads me to believe the grill is extremely dirty. i told the server how disappointed we were and they didn't seem to care. this restaurant is in the abbey and lak of customer customer service seems to be the trend here which i will touch again when i write my review of the "fabulous" abbey resort. This was suppose to be a celebration of my mother in laws birthday bill with food drinks was $600 and it was trash. I mean just trash. i've attempted to reach the food and beverage video to show the video of how bad this halibut was and how someone can put this on a plate. The Signature dish "open faced ravioli"....was way over priced for what it contained....inexpensive pasta..= zucchini,,,cremini mushrooms..broccolini....grape tomatoes...ricotta cheese...and 3 / 2" pieces of lobster bite size.....I had asked for extra lobster to be added to the dish...and I saw what looked like en tails not...solid pieces of lobster....very disappointing.......looked like the small claw part...and a saffron sauce on top.....not sweet enough... and bland.......this dish costs $42.00...the price of a "whole lobster."..!!.....Bottle of Kim Crawford wine was price at $44.00..!! again unreasonable...not worth the money....but the service was great and very attentive..... read more

A beautiful restaurant at the Abbey resort with amazing hospitality and service. The Christmas decor was wonderfully done throughout the restaurant, and every server or worker was very accommodating and friendly. We and here for the prix fixe menu and enjoyed our experience. I only wish the food was as quality as the restaurant ambience was. However for good prices, we definitely loved the four course options: First: I ordered the eggplant and portobello. This dish was a good start to the meal, but the marinara sauce wasn't my favorite. The mussels option was delicious and tasty, I would have preferred that. Second: I was super excited about the Brussel sprouts option, but man it was like a Brussel sprout soup with all that glazed sauce that the veggies were soaked in. The sauce would have been a tasty complement had it been just a drizzle. The Waldorf salad option was a lot easier on my palate. Third: the main event- of course everyone ordered the filet and lobster combo, but I swear my waitress must have given me the wrong dish because my filet was done too well when I had asked for it medium rare. Our dishes were also pretty cold by the time they came out. Other than this, the meat was juicy enough and the lobster had a generous portion. Fourth: the dessert was very rich and all chocolate, and by this time we were all pretty full. I came during lockdown to Abbey Resort for a quick little vacation. I had high hopes for the restaurant, but the food was terrible. I got the prime rib buffet which was $30 a person. All of the sides were not good. The potatoes and fries were cold and flavorless. The fish and chicken in the buffet were really bland. The prime rib was the only good part, but some of it was overcook and dry. Also at the buffet, only 1 person was serving the food so it took a long time to get the food. A positive thing is my waitress was really kind. I probably won't come back a second time because of the bad food. read more

Candied bacon, need I say more? Found this place through yelp or trip advisor. Food looked so appealing... IT WAS!!' I had an amazing filet with mushrooms the glaze was fantastic. I got a Parmesan risotto with no onions fresh made. It was a little warm inside but the food and drinks were delicious. Outside has a band tonight. We wanted to leave to go enjoy the wether and music. Yesenia G was our waitress. She answered all my questions and there was a lot. First time coming to this resort I booked at least 3 weeks in advance and for thanksgiving week, I called for 2 weeks 2-3x a week trying to make reservations for Thanksgiving dinner because their website said it fills up but they never answered left voicemails nothing! Today I went there for dinner and we walked in and were the only ones in the restaurant besides a table of 10 we sat down, had our drinks, mind you I wanted to get tipsy because for once I didn't have to drive to dinner, the large group got their meal within minutes of us sitting and we waited and waited the server never checked in on us my wife and I finished our drink in 5 min our food didn't come in until an hour and 15 min and we could have easily been on our 3rd drink but the server never came, we finally got our meal I had the half chicken which was hot on the outside but cold on the inside like they microwaved it, the garlic mashed potato and the jasmine rice was bland I would have normally walked out but my kids were actually behaving and we were having good conversation. definitely glad we didn't make thanksgiving dinner their because I would hate to see how their service is when they're actually busy. read more

Very disappointed!!! We got the "buffet" (we've had it before and it was great!). It was VERY limited. They did have prime rib & cold crab legs. The prime rib was good, but, crab legs were not! They had very little meat & what meat there was, was dry. You would think they would have lowered the price since there were only a few items on the "buffet" but they were still charging the full price of $29.95 per person. To boot, the air conditioning wasn't working when it was 84° outside. Very bad experience. We will definitely consider finding a new place to dine. read more
