Amazing! Delicious! Probably the best donuts and one of the best sweet treats I have ever had! (I have a tremendous sweet tooth so that is saying a lot!). Especially the frosted donuts are over the top deliciously good. For something a bit different try the lemon frosting. Cinnamon sugar and powered sugar are good too but frosted donuts are the best. The previous review spent most of the text talking about how busy the place was then he mentions in passing that the donut was incredible. It's a donut shop. If the donut is incredible rate it high. I hate to be a downer, but I had such high expectations of Duck Donuts and they kind of let me down.... I LOVE supporting small businesses and I'm so happy they are doing well - truly. The staff was super nice and the concept is great! However... I just wasn't really crazy about my donuts. The base donuts were heavy and full of oil - that was the main flavor I tasted. The toppings were fine, but I actually expected a few more choices, and maybe a few more interesting choices. I'm so happy for them as a business and I'm glad that a lot of people do like them, but I, unfortunately, am not among their legions of fans. read more

Ummm...AMAZING! Great selection of toppings - have fun mixing and matching. Decent price and they even do some standard non-donut breakfast sandwiches pretty well if you're not in the mood for something sweet! Small place but we went two days in a row and they handled the crowd pretty quickly. The donuts are made to order so expect a slight delay. Donuts are very good, fresh, and the topping choices allow you to get creative. The donuts alone are a solid 4. The places seats 8 people max: one table of 4 and one bench of 4. But it seems that every time I go there are people parked in the seats reading newspapers and I am left awkwardly eating over the coffee bar counter/trash can. I can deal with that. What I can't deal with is the horrible coffee. Literally the worst coffee I've had since I came to Virginia. Worse than the complimentary coffee I had at the Jiffy Lube while I waited for them to complete my oil change. read more

I had the maple bacon donut, and it was excellent, as far as donuts go (at least, as far as east coast donuts go. I dunno about donuts in the land of "good weather, beautiful people, and donut shops on every corner" aka California which another reviewer mentioned, haha). I really enjoyed the flavor and texture of the donut itself, and the added glaze and toppings were, as they say, 'on point'. The staff who helped me were very pleasant and friendly. They made my donut quickly and neatly on the spot, so it was fresh and fluffy when I sliced into it (yes, with a fork and knife!). The reason for the reduction in stars is simply that I felt a bit duped when I checked in on Yelp at the promise of a "free donut", only to find out it was buy a dozen, get one free. Of course, I probably should have figured as much, but it's really just the principle of the thing. Definitely recommend this place. read more

Duck donuts is a made to order donut shop. Choose the coating and topping for a hot greasy donut and you've got yourself something that you can't get at Dunkin'. I had a maple-bacon donut and think it's what pancakes aspire to be, yet fail at. Very yum with hot coffee. My husband didn't think it was better than a stack of pancakes. There may have been a lengthy discussion on donuts versus pancakes. Don't be that guy. Just get a donut. read more

Went here with my girlfriend for the first time today after reading some of the other reviews on her . I have to say I'm not a big donut guy but the donuts here were pretty good ! Nice and warm and had a good flavor to them as well. I've never had a warm donut before other then popping one in the microwave so this place was a pleasant surprise! Yes, I am a fan. After reading various reviews, I was on the fence on whether or not to try this place. I tried Emily's before Duck. Okay, Emily's has Duck beat in the customer service department, at least on the day we were here. We went to Emily's 2 different days and service was stellar. Maybe it was just a bad day for Duck. The lady at the cash register explained everything to us and let us make our selections. We chose the Maple Bacon, Plain Vanilla, and Lemon Frosted. That lemon donut was AMAZING! Yummo! The plain cake was nice and warm but a bit too greasy. With the lemon frosting, you could not really taste or see the grease. My husband loved the maple bacon better than Emily's. He was very happy. I tasted it but it was not a flavor that I was looking for, but you do get much more bacon on the donuts here than at Emily's. I still like Duck for the warmth of their donuts. That is what really sets them apart in my book and that slammin' lemon frosting. To watch the donuts being made is SUPER fun for kids to watch. read more

So happy duck donuts opened up in Williamsburg! These are by far the best donuts in the burg and the place is always packed until lunch. The strawberry, vanilla and lemon coconut are among the standouts and each donut is made to order and served hot. The only thing keeping that fifth star away is slightly too little seating. But people come in and leave quickly enough that you are able to find a spot by the time you order and get your coffee. Not a classic or pure donut. Something of a hybrid based on the Krispy Kreme type (but no creme). You get only one type of super hot donut and they add the toppings after you order. The taste is fine, but not worth the guilt of ordering with the medifast diet center next door. That diet center in such close proximity is a real sugar buzz kill. UPDATE (3/3/2015) The Medifast is gone! Also, I tried Duck Donuts in Duck NC, and they were considerably fresher. They made the actual donut from batter right after you ordered them.
