I scheduled an appointment for 245 for myself (mani/pedi) and my 2 daughters (paint on toes and fingers). At 330 we were still sitting there waiting when I finally said something about having an appt at 245. They had my daughters sit in a manicure chair and put their color on-no base or top coat. The paint was smeared all over their skin so when we were checking out I had to have someone come and clean the paint up. Because they were so behind I wasn't able to get my nails done. They pretty much rushed us out with no time for their nails to dry. This is actually the second time I have experienced this in Du Nails. This is probably my first yelp review ever. Paid over $100 for my wife's nails for a mediocre, rushes pedi and mani job. The mani was a bad job the nails were not placed correctly and the color started to come off the same day. Du Nails is a busy little shop in an easily accessible plaza. The parking is adequate, and the location is good. It's in the same plaza as Pei Wei, Sauce, and Safeway, so it is easy to run errands while waiting for your appointment... or to get your nails done before picking up carryout. The shop has the ambiance of a garage. There is no attempt to decorate or provide comfort. This is a place to get the job done as fast as possible, so don't expect to come out feeling relaxed or better about anything except being able to check another errand off your list. The technicians do an adequate and totally impersonal job at applying and polishing acrylic nails. They have Spa chairs for pedicures. Their pedicures are better than the nail services, but the garagelike atmosphere really detracts from the experience. The thing that struck me here is that they are geared to provide one kind of service. They are good at applying a tip and covering it with acrylic. If you want tips applied for a special event, or are happy with polish instead of a pink and white look, and do not need a lot of atmosphere, i would recommend them. They do not backfill well, and they do not want any client who requires more than their regularly allotted time to do nails. The only person in the shop who does sculpts without tips is the owner, Du.... and he seems to prefer not maintaining clients. I have sculpts instead of tips, and he did not want to do my nails after a couple of weeks because "it took too long." I have 2 friends who tried his shop. The first time they went to him. When they returned to have their nails filled, he had another tech do the job and they were less than happy with the work. read more

This nail salon, specifically Du, the owner, saved me today! After an amazingly horrible experience at Wendy's nails, I went to Du Nails. Best end product I have had in a very long time. Great customer service. Nice people who seemed to care that I am a paying customer. Very UNLIKE Wendy's Nails where the manager ignores you if you happen to walk in when she's playing with her phone!! Additionally, I was NOT charged to have my acrylics removed just because I had a different shop do them last time. I am so happy my nail experience ended with Du. I had almost given up. Maybe Du could head over to (that miserable place named above) and give them some tips (no pun intended) on how to treat people!!!! read more

Let me preface this review by saying I went there for years, off and on, before Today. Du himself is a FINE nail tech and does excellent work. However. I attempted on my last visit to make an appointment for the fill I wanted today. He said "no, you no need appointment, just come in." I reiterated my desire for an appointment and a second time he refused to make an appointment for me, instead insisting that it'd be fine if I just came in. So I (like an idiot) listened to him, and arrived today at 10am. He said "30 minute wait." Grudgingly, I accepted this. By the time 50 minutes had passed and 5 clients (who all had appointments, btw) were taken in past me I lost my patience and called him out. "What you want me to do?" was his only reply. Du, I want you to take ANY APPOINTMENT A CLIENT REQUESTS and NEVER turn down an appointment because that means LOST INCOME.... because sure as the sun shines in Phoenix, I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on. PS - he says they open at 9am but on 5/28/13 at 9:15 AM when I pulled into the parking lot the lights were OFF and no one was there. When I mentioned this he pshaw'd me and told me I was wrong. My check-in at another salon half a mile down the road at 9:20 would suggest not. read more

I went there three times. All three times I requested a 9:00 AM appointment for manicure and pedicure. I arrived at 8:45 all three times and waited. All three times the staff person who opens, was 10 minutes, 15 minutes and 15 minutes late each of the tree times. The manicurist didn't even apologize for being late. Went into have my legs waxed. Would not go back here for these main reasons: 1. Listed price differed from price I was charged. 2. Aesthetician was not able to provide me with the cost of service when I was in the wax room with her. 3. Wax table was very wobbly. It wiggled around though out the service but thankfully never toppled over. 4. Wax room had a small 1 way mirror such that if you're in the salon someone could be looking at you through the one way mirror opposite the waxing room. 5. The wax service itself was done with a limp hand, very little wax was used on each strip and it felt like my roots were not being taken out. I left feeling like I may as well have shaved instead of taking the time/money to wax. Backstory: Price was listed at $41 but at the end of the apt I was asked to pay $56. The service prices are printed on a flyer at the front of the salon. The flyer listed the cost of a leg wax to be $41. To confirm the cost I asked my aesthetician towards the end of my appointment how much it would be. She said she could not say and she would tell me by the register. On her way to meet me at the register she conversed with a male coworker who was sitting in one of the front waiting chairs, apparently not doing anything. They did not speak in english but were clearly talking about how much my service should cost based on their mannerisms gesturing toward a leg and the word "wax" being used. I am typically comfortable paying $56 plus for a wax but the combination of an ineffective wax job + misinformation regarding pricing left me feeling like I had made a mistake in trying out this salon. read more

Du Nails is a busy little shop in an accessible plaza. That is why I took my niece there last June. Parking however is less that adequate during rush hours and you get the "zip ins and cut throughs" in the Hummers fighting you for space when you are just travelling the lanes searching for a parking space. It's worth fighting if you are going to Trunk or Fluerish though. I took my niece, from a podunk town in the Midwest, for her first manicure/ pedicure at Du Nails after visiting those boutiques next door. Although the prices are clearly posted and lack of English doesn't seem to be a problem I was still hit with a much larger bill than planned and had to argue my way out the door. In the end they took they took it out of their tip and still argued about services rendered. Seemed the "and up" on the price menu means they will hit you with whatever they can get away with on a final tab and render optional services offered everywhere in the valley as free as optional "to pay for" in that salon with a small sign saying it's extra somewhere in the front. Like sea salt rub or callous removal. I opted for sea salt but missed the sign, but as I do pedi's on a regular basis elsewhere, and generally wear real shoes I don't have a callous issue. It wasn't mentioned that they needed extra to attend to my non calloused feet anyway. But my niece added sea salt and they added callous and she got a polka dot design on each toe(a single dot, each in a different color with the big toe getting swirly and whitish in the center) which I guess was $5 per toe as well as a flower on each index finger. My total was $130.00 before tip. For two pedicures, two manicures, a few polka dots. And I had a hangnail when all was said and done! read more

I was getting my nails done here by Rosie. She did a great job the first time but the second time I went back for fils she wasn't available. The guy there did the fills and did a sub par job. He was also rude to a customer and kept nagging her about being on time. I think he needs to understand nobody has to go there at all. The next time I went in I scheduled an appointment with Rosie and had taken all my nails off by that time since I wasn't able to come in to 3 weeks later. She did a good job still not as good as first time though but I let it slide. She did a pedicure for me as well and I tipped her well for everything. A week later my feet were already feeling rough again and so I decided not to get a pedicure there again. I went back for fills again the following week and called to make an appointment. I asked for 1 pm but I was told could do r 12:30. I rushed there as it was 12:15 and ended up waiting 5 mins extra. They're click is 5 mins ahead. Anyway, i requested color for my nails this time instead of pink and white. As welll as I told Rosie I needed glue added to my left middle finger as it was separating from my real nail. She completely disregarded this and when I asked her about it she said it did not need it. I was extremely aggravated but I and mentioned it again. I mean what is so hard about it. Just do what customer asks, then I ask told to her lady time I had this color my nails were more shaped oval and I loved them but do you think she bothered to say or ask me if I wanted them reshaped that way??? Noooo. Again disregarded. I went home and had to reshape my own nails. Then two days later which is today I get home from work and start changing clothes. Well what do you know the same fingernail that I told Rosie to put glue on separates from my natural nail again. First off I'm upset for having told her in the first place what it needed and second that now I had to take time to go back to the salon and have the nail fixed in rush hour traffic. Yes it was an emergency as my nails are long and any kind of activity could have tore or broke the rest of the nail offf and would have hurt, I didn't want to risk it. So I go back and Rosie is not there. Instead it's this guy did my fills after the first time, who tells me I needed to come back after I explained to him that my nail needed to be fixed and I had told Rosie that on Sunday. I told him no I needed my nail fixed today and then he told me I needed to wait 45 mins and I said no I was not going to wait. He handled me the nail glue and I told me I needed to talk to Rosie about it. I said no you are going to talk to Rosie about it because I'm not coming back here. I disputed the charge through my bank and I am strongly considering reporting to better business bureau. Don't waste your money here. read more
