Great date night spot! High end spot. Suit up if you want to! Saw DJ Mbenga here This restaurant is below a hotel. Valet $10 till 2am..you walk through the patio/bar area to the restaurant. Pros: The lamb sirloin was amazing. Very juicy! Uptown is right down the street so you can walk from here after valeting Great bar/patio area. Relaxing. Cons: pricey, and can be a bit loud but we didn't care Drinks are $$$ Overall loved it. read more

Had a lovely dine here tonight with my wife and couldn't have been more pleased with the overall experience. It was a special occasion for us and the staff went out of their way to make it memorable. Between the private room, stellar service, delicious and inventive food, and overall ambiance of the hotel and restaurant, we were definitely impressed. The salmon is that soft on the inside, crispy on the outside that everyone loves. The pasta was busting with flavor and just the right tenderness. The carrot risotto was exactly what you would want and expect from a carrot risotto. The ice cream pops trio was crazy; never thought I'd eat basil on my ice cream, but there it is! Would absolutely come back here and am sure we will. read more

One word to describe the food here and that is, AMAZING! I had my birthday dinner at this restaurant, and was definitely impressed. They have a large selection of drinks and the dinner menu was excellent. I ordered the New York Strip, it was cooked to perfection. The restaurant is just beautiful, I love the ambiance. I highly recommend checking it out. You will not be disappointed. read more

Attended a company function Friday night and I really like this place. Ordered the 14oz rib eye and it had to be more on the 20oz. size. It was cooked a perfect Medium Rare and the Butternut Squash Grits were the best I have ever had. The Baby Red Oak and Herb Salad was OK as the goat milk ricotta was not as creamy as I expected. Service was fine and my only complaint was that my entree was delivered before I could finish my salad. 5 stars on atmosphere and service. Valet is quick and the club next door was rocking... Great place to people watch. read more

Brunch Food: well don't let my picture I posted fool you because this place is pretty mediocre in terms of how their food tastes. I ordered the crab benedict and was pretty disappointed in terms of flavor. The crab cake was hella dry and the wilted spinach accompanied with it did not match at all. If I'm paying that much for food, I would expect the quality to match up. I don't know who made the menu up, but they need to re do it lol oh and the salad along with the dish absolutely had no point being there not complementing the dish Venue: Cute atmosphere, lighting on point, customer service was good(mimosa never reached the bottom), small tables, very intimate setting read more

the food is not worth the price. also ate a huge piece of plastic in my french onion soup and still paid full price:/

Danielle was spectacular, they had a late night pop and she did not miss a beat. Not only did she greet us at the host stand, she recommended great drinks, and personable service. Even through the chaos she managed to leave a memorable experience. Every time we come back we will request for Danielle. read more

We're fans of Hotel Zaza. We were married there and have returned every year for our anniversary. Since we were visiting family outside of Dallas, and we thought we'd stop by the Dallas version of Houston's Monarch. So, we gave this place four stars. The food was definitely better than the food at Monarch at Hotel Zaza Houston, and the service was both impeccable and friendly! We were expecting an ostentatious atmosphere, snippy waiters and waitresses, and average food. Wow, were we surprised! The service was impeccable, the food was priced just right, and the taste was wonderful! We had a great time! We started off with delicious dumplings, and as we anticipated our entrees, we sipped wonderful white wine (they have a great wine list!). My husband had the whole fish and said it was the best he'd ever had! I had scallops with lump crab (a special for that day). It was fantastic, and our waitress, Lindsey, was so helpful! She helped us choose the wine, and our dessert: Oreo slice of ice, and wow, it was amazing in both presentation and taste! It looked like a sliced sirloin but covered in Oreo crumbs and filled with chocolate ice cream. You must try this! So, why not five stars? Well, because the atmosphere seemed to welcome an older age bracket than we're accustomed to being around. We like the sexiness of Hotel Zaza in Houston and were hoping for something similar here as well. And, as nice as the weather was, their patio allowed smoking and super loud residents at the pool - -not my cup of tea. Oh, well, we left with super happy tummies and will definitely stop by the next time we're in Uptown Dallas :) read more

I came here as part of a bachelor party and not being the "club" or 'lounge" type of guy, this place was not bad. You definitely feel the status as there is a red carpet and velvet rope separating you from the entry to the doors themselves. The bouncer was nice and very professional. Once inside, the decor is white and clean. There are a handful of smaller tables and the bar area is energetic. We had bottle service and was right next to the DJ spinning. This was a stop for many other similar parties to ours as people came, got one drink, and then left. My point is that there was always something new to look at. There is also an outdoor area to hang out at that is cozy. read more

This place located inside the hotel ZAZA was at one time "THE PLACE TO BE" in Dallas....not any more. The tragically hip still try to be cool there but time has passed this place by. Sad to see really as they dont seem to understand they need to update lots of things to get the crowds back. The hotel remains fantastic though! read more

Brunch here was delicious and the space has cool/interesting art and decor. My only complaint was the service--don't be in a rush! They were really pushing the huevos rancheros and the lobster benedict; my friend did get the former, but I got the chicken waffles. I remembered a tepid Yelp review about the chicken waffles and was a little hesitant, but couldn't resist. Well maybe something has changed because those chicken waffle are TO DIE FOR. They come with bacon marmalade and roasted poblano gravy...what a food party. The mimosas were tasty but I can't tell you how much they were--they charged us $10 each for the first one, $1 each for the second one, and then some dude came and refilled mine for free. Your guess is as good as mine. :/ read more

This is more about the experience than the food. I came with my folks and had a great time and the food was good but not spectacular and a little pricy. The restaurant is inside Hotel Zaza so it's not to big inside but it's a nice and eclectic looking place. We didn't realize they only served brunch on Sundays so we were slightly disappointed we didn't have full access to their full menu but our waiter was nice enough to see what items the kitchen would be willing to cook outside of the brunch menu so I ordered the ZaZa burger, my mom got the Sui Mai burger bites, and my dad ordered the One hot chick sandwich. The presentation of our food looked mouth watering good and it was that, my burger was so good , juicy a little to much meat but it was delicious. I wasn't crazy about the tomato relish but it didn't ruin the burger. We ended the meal with the chocolate and booze cake which was so good, that cake was a definite recommend. I enjoyed the food but I wouldn't go out the way to go back. read more

Dragonfly is nice restaurant with a great romantic atmosphere. The food was pretty good (though not quite worth the high cost). The waiter however was very obnoxious and took away from the overall experience. From the moment we sat down he gave us a pressure sales job about wine, salads and even the number of steak bites my girlfriend ordered. I know he's just trying to make a living but he could've been a little less obvious about the up-selling. After he realized that we not going to spend $400 on dinner tonight he kind of copped an attitude with us. At one point my girlfriend and I were discussing wine prices (one bottle was going for $450) when out of the blue he pops out of saying we can negotiate bottle prices. Seems like he was ease dropping on us. Turns out I only spent a $130 on dinner and drinks which obviously was very disappointing to our server. I still recommend this place (the interior was beautiful, food was good) but be prepared for the hustle from the staff. I know it's located Uptown in Hotel ZaZa but not everybody who dines there makes six figures. I recommend that the staff treat middle class customers with the same respect as the fat cats who may dine there. Just my two cents. read more

My friends & I enjoyed a nice breakfast here on a recent Sunday morning. Almost empty, which meant we received good service, lol. We had the regular breakfast, just weren't in the mood for much else. Came to Dragonfly for late night drinks with a group of friends. The decor was pretty cool and unique and kept with the hotel's. The drink menu had a nice selection of cocktails and wine that were priced what you'd expect for a boutique hotel's lounge. The drinks were very good and the service was very attentive. The main reason to go to Dragonfly is to people watch since it attracts a "unique" Dallas crowd. We had a good experience at Dragonfly and would come back for drinks. read more

Today was my first time having brunch, or any food for that matter at Dragonfly. I've visited before, on weekend nights, but only indulged in the cocktails. First, the waitstaff was so kind and accommodating, They were really attentive to our party of 8, and we didn't have to wait for anything. I ordered a Cosmo, and it was definitely one of the best that I've had. And I'll be honest, I thought that it would be hard to find something on their particular menu that I would like, so I went safe and tried to Tri Trip steak and eggs, thinking it may still be a bust. When our food came out everyone was shocked at how good it looked as well as the presentation. A few at our table had the crab cakes as well as the chicken fried lobster benedict...and I saw a beautiful Belgium waffle garnished with fruit as well, along with other breakfast items. My plate contained a small 6oz cut of steak, eggs, asparagus, grits, and what looked like small cherry tomatoes perhaps. It was absolutely AMAZING! Let's just say I've been sleeping on Dragonfly's menu. Not to mention, it's the summer now and their pool is also a happening little spot. read more

My boyfriend and I ate here for New Years. Food was NOT good. We had the lamb lollipops as an appetizer and they were so tough you could barely get the meat off the bone. We also got the pork belly, the meat was better but it was so lathered in peanuts and a thick sweat sauce that it completely lost its flavor. By the time my entree, Duck, came out I had completely lost my appetite. It was also lathered in a nauseating sweet sauce and I could barely eat it. My boyfriend got the steak off of the specials menu, I'm not sure how you mess up a steak but round of applause because Dragonfly managed it. Would also like to mention that when we arrived we were placed at a tiny table that looked like it had been set up to handle overflow. The chairs were so rickety that they swayed at the slightest movement and the table was not in much better shape! Value was definitely not worth the price for this meal. It seems the Dragonfly thinks they can get away with not serving quality food and simply living off the novelty of the venue. Thank God we bought a nice bottle of wine that helped us make it through the meal. Would not eat here again, nothing worse than paying $300 for a meal you regret eating. read more

Come here if you're looking for a hooker! Seriously. Just hosted a bachelorette party here for my sister and it was so awful. Reservation was made weeks ago, with my sister calling to confirm the reservation right after she made it online, plus they called today to confirm the "private room" that we reserved, but when we arrived they were "unaware" of the request and could not accommodate us due to a "gentleman having a conference call in the room." Entirely contradicting to the earlier phone calls. They did offer a bottle of champagne to compensate, but that's minimal considering this was to be a private event where they were instead setting us up by the kitchen. That's hardly a compromise. Also, measures were taken to ensure they were notified of extreme nut and fish allergies, yet bread with nuts were still brought to the table! Notifying us that they will "cover any medical expenses if an allergy reaction occurs" is not even close to reassuring the guests that the food is safe, nor does that cover the emotional distress of having an anaphylactic reaction. All of this aside, the worst part was the extremely visible prostitute at the bar who had a man putting money into her clothing. Her shirt being only a bra, everyone was looking and no one at the restaurant did anything stop it - even when we notified the hostess, who seemed to not care. I have no idea how this has been rated as one of the best bachelorette party locations in Dallas. The only thing they did of what was asked was reserve a table, but they were so empty that wasn't even necessary. Our sister, who is getting married in 2 days, had her entire evening ruined. read more

While visiting Hotel ZaZa for a corporate training event, the Dragonfly was used to cater the whole week of training. The quality of the food was amazing, and every day we had more than enough food along with a fantastic selection of items to choose from. For breakfast we had the normal Bagel and Pastry options as well as variations of Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Potatoes, Pancakes, French Toast, or Oatmeal depending on what was served that day. The staff could not be more attentive, the entire affair was well handled. The snacks presented each day to give us a pick me up from two or two and a half hours of training were always a welcome treat. Lunch each day gave us salad, two meats to choose from and usually two sides. In addition, each lunch was offered with two desserts and all of it was presented wonderfully. I hope we come back next year as this is an ideal location for a corporate event. Thanks again to all the waiters and waitresses as well as the hosting staff, job well done. read more

My mother and I went here for lunch and quite enjoyed it. We both ordered the Turkey Cobb Salad, which was a bit of a gourmet twist on a typical Cobb salad. It ended up being delicious, and we quite enjoyed the pool views we had while dining. The restaurant is funky yet refined, and I would suggest dressing up if you're going at dinner time. It's definitely on the pricier side, but that's to be expected since it's attached to a hotel. read more

Been going here for a while, and I noticed a few years ago, hipper and trendier. Now a bit more mellow. The cocktails though won't disappoint. Had the skinny margarita which was very well thought out and for a few simple ingredients was executed perfectly. My friend had the Chopin vodka with Luxardo cherries- potent and delicious. Needless to say ice cold and perfect taste. Didn't try the food and for a Thursday wasn't that busy. Still loved the décor in the lobby and valet parking is complimentary. Speaking of complimentary, the almonds are a nice choice as well. read more

Mixed feelings about this establishment.. The views, the seating, and the comfort of this bar is amazing! Very cool for groups! The music is also excellent.. A good mix of everything.. Literally brushing elbows with rabble is not my idea of fun, so I dread engagements at the Dragonfly. Not only is it overcrowded and loud, but the servers are imprudent dolts. It takes them forever and a day to mix up a gin and tonic. They can also be rude when the mood strikes. It's flashy and tackier than new-money ever thought it could be, and indeed the prices reflect that. The prices do not match up to the food and beverages, as both are embarrassingly lackluster. read more

I've been wanting to go here for YEARS!!! I guess I just couldn't get anyone to come with me...so this year for RW I brought the smack down! Most of the reviews I've seen here have been mostly about the bar or the pool. I'm reviewing the food!!! Unlike my friend who had a ridiculously creeepy evening!!! Ha The whole evening from start to finish was A-mazing. Our waiter was very easy on the eyes (you know who you are Ryan!). *Ahem* anyway. The menu was perfect for RW. Great selection and options. I started with the Calamari Salad (sidenote: I heart Calamari, if it were the only thing on the menu I would order it for each course. Easy). The salad had this sweet sesame dressing with crispy calamari and spinach leaves. Mmmmm, oh and you're supposed to eat this salad with chop stix. Normal. 2nd Course...Ginger Beef with mashed potatoes and brocollini. My mouth has never tasted such happiness (that's what she said). Dessert...Texas Peach Pie with a scoop of Basil ice cream. Odd, yes. Allison nervous, yes. Allison's tummy happy after, yes. It took a few bites to "warm" up if you will, but man. It was so delicious, you can tell that someone really thought about the food. Sidenote: My friends Mama tagged along. Her exact words "These are the best scallops I've ever had in my life". BAM!!! You got served! If you knew this mommy, you would get the importance of said statement. Everyone else was VERY happy with their selections, no sad faces at this table! When Ryan (see above for reference) brought our check, he brought over an Amuse busche. Um, it was almost like a Brandy Alexander. Perfect one sip delight. Awesome decor in this place. I don't think I've seen anything else like it in Dallas. Oh, don't forget to get your car validated. You wish you could charge me $17 for valet and get away with it! I will definitely go back...even if its not RW. I'm crying inside cause I waited so long. read more

My first time at Dragonfly I had a chance to taste their Fall menu. The look and feel of the place is very nice... just as you would expect.... The sampling of new Fall items was really great--- very hard to choose just one. I ended up choosing the Ginger Beef Tenderloin with sesame Mashed Potatoes and Wasabi sauce --- it was fantastic... I don't usually order steak out (I don't like to order things i can do) but this was great and most important unique. The Braised Bison Short Ribs also looked great as did the Pheasant Brest. The Tuna Tacos and Grilled Texas Quail for appetizers were fantastic as was the Calamari Salad. Though outside of my normal price range at $37 the steak is about average on the market. While i can't afford to be a regular it is a great special occasion spot to add to my list. The Starters started at about $12 and the main courses start at $30. read more

RESTAURANT WEEK '09, B%@#$ES!!! Man, I heart Restaurant Week (RW). Before we get to the review, I'd like to share a simple disclaimer: I believe you can tell a lot about a restaurant in how they "handle" RW. Yes, a portion of your noticeably discounted meal is going to charity, but a great restaurant notices that patrons who wouldn't normally dine at said restaurant are, and that the opportunity is upon them to treat you like gold and perhaps you'll dine there again....at the non-discounted rate. It's Restaurant Customer Service For Dummies. I should pen the book. But I digress.... Dragonfly gets an A+ for customer service. They get it. And, you know who else gets it? Ryan, our server. (And ain't nobody calling him "Mr. Personality" if you catch my drift, ladies. Holla!) Wine? Sure. Casa Lapostolle from Chile? One of my personal favs. done and done. Ryan even shared a little "It's made by the Grand Marnier people" anecdote. I heart him. On to my RW selections...and boy did they have many to choose from! Way to go, Dragonfly! 1. P.E.I. Mussels. Fantastic broth. Perfect appetizer portion. Only drawback: as an Italian, I enjoy bread to "oops, I've dropped my bread in this yummy broth and now I must nosh on this delectably fantastic ooey gooey starchy soggy goodness." None of that was happening. A waste of broth if you ask me.... 2. Ginger beef. They're known for it. I'd had it before. And, ya know, it doesn't disappoint. Medium rare, cooked to perfection. And, again, Dragonfly, way to have your signature dish on the RW menu. 3. Chocolate Cake. I'm a sucker for it. The flour-less kind makes me swoon. Add a raspberry sauce and I pass out on the table. The only way to revive me? A cold Bailey's shooter, compliments of the chef. Ryan, you had me at hello. Great meal. Great friends. Still a great restaurant. read more
