Good Graces - Entrance - Brasseries Near Me - Dallas, Texas

Ok, I wanted to love this place but it boiled down to zero ambiance. It was 6 on a Saturday night (I know, early for dinner in the city) but even when we left at 8 we were the only table. If it had been more lively, maybe better. It's in a hotel, so maybe people just don't go there. Not sure. Even though the ambiance wasn't there, the service was great. Our waitress was very attentive. The food, meh. I got the short rib which had a good flavor but kind of heavy on the smoke. Reminded me of BBQ and not enough polenta on the side. My friend got the duck and sweet potato gnocchi, delicious. The sauce truffle fries are fire. Drinks, yummy. Go for the double dare doc. Tequila and carrot juice, who knew it would be so good?! Again, wanted to love this place but probably checked it off my list for good. read more

I'm staying at the Marriott Dallas uptown and their restaurant is the bees knees. The food is amazing, fresh, tasty. The staff couldn't be nicer. It's nice atmosphere. The bar is the happening place but I like the relaxed vibe of the restaurant. More people should be checking this place out. read more

Came with a friend for a Friday night dinner and the restaurant is located within the Marriott hotel. There's free valet parking for two hours which was a plus for us! Upon entering, we did have trouble finding the restaurant but managed to locate it. For about a hour, we were the only patrons until a few others rolled in. The service from our waiter was great but the food was a bit of a letdown. For the table we ordered truffle and parmesan fries and the bison meatballs. We did enjoy both but you couldn't really taste the truffle on the fries. For my entree, I ordered salmon and while the salmon was cooked to my liking (medium) the side with it was less desirable - a grilled eggplant ratatouille. They do start you with bread and butter while you wait for your other ordered items. We ended the night with the earl grey creme brûlée and I really didn't like it. If you're a fan of earl gray tea you'll love this! Overall, the pros were the service and free valet but the food did fall a bit short. read more

Staying at the Marriott Uptown while in Dallas for a conference. Ate twice at Good Grace located on the 1st floor of the hotel. Service was great. There is an outside area that is very nice. Inside, there is nice lighting and seats close to the windows to enjoy the view of outside. Food and drinks were great each time we ate there. Prices were good as well. read more

Okay I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately I was not impressed. Let's start with good: valet parking complimentary for two hours, service was pleasant. However, food is very mediocre I tried an item from each menu section for appetizers we started off with truffle fries, shareable: bison meatballs and that was my first disappointment. If you have a shareable item maybe it is a good idea to include at least two pieces of sourdough bread instead of one. Main course I chose pasta bolognese and it was dry. Dessert: earl grey crème brûlée which was very unique and not to my tasting but I'm happy I tried it. read more

Went here last summer and overall, I had a pretty good experience! The entrées had a lot of flavor and great texture. The veggies with the steak had a nice crunch and were seasoned perfectly. The fries were THE best - perfectly crisp and full of flavor. The appetizer was amazing! The beef short rib over cheesy polenta and scallions was one of the specials that night and it had such a strong flavor to it, but in a good way where it still wasn't overpowering. The drink was super refreshing and had a citrus taste to it. The Japanese milk break was so tasty - it's brushed on top with garlic rosemary butter and complimented by salted butter. The bread is fluffy and the added butter makes it nice and moist and the salt over it gives it a great flavor. The dessert was aesthetically pleasing and I love that it didn't taste too sweet. I was very hesitant about trying it, but it turned out to be so yummy read more

My expectations at first, to be honest, were not particularly high. We were just grabbing an early dinner at the hotel before the show. The bar is a shared lobby/restaurant bar. It has a great cocktail program, and an excellent selection of local draft beers. The restaurant space is very attractive, airy and spacious. Lots of light, and open to the kitchen. We were the first, and only diners, through a fairly quick 5pm seating on a Friday. After such a pleasant experience, it made us a bit sad that they weren't getting more business. Service was prompt, friendly and helpful. We shared the shishito peppers as a starter. The peppers were fresh and perfectly cooked. The plate at first appeared a little busy, with a caramel miso underneath and a nori and bonito topping. But it was well composed, and the additional ingredients added flavors I've not usually seen in shishito plates. The "wedge" was a split heart of romaine with abundant chunks of bacon. A nice and reasonably sized salad course. To keep the meal light, I did the wedge as half my main, and the bison meatballs as the second portion. The three meatballs were small and dense, but nicely flavored, and the mash and gravy made the plate a good lighter meal. The star of the plate was the grilled sourdough; so delicious I asked for a second piece. The wife's main was the mixed greens salad with shrimp. She enjoyed it, though commented it was a huge amount of greens. Overall very pleasant. We'll be staying at the Marriott Uptown again when we're in the area, and would now consider Good Graces to be our must stop for first night dining. 5 stars; they deserve a lot more business than is coming through the doors today. read more

Atmosphere is really pretty. Service was really good. The chairs have really thin backs that are painful after a little time. The food was decent. I tried the good graces burger. Cooked perfectly and pretty tasty. The truffle fries are really good. Prices are quite a bit higher, but I think that's the norm for this area. Mimosas were very small and the pours were uneven. Some of us had almost half poured glasses and others had almost full glasses. Consistency is key as well as pouring people their money's worth. read more

I've looked at this place many times and have wanted to check it out. Based on reviews, it seems like more of a dinner spot. However, I likely won't be returning here, unless just for drinks. Drinks were really good: the Cooler than a Cucumber, Dad Gum It, and Turtle Creek Sour were all well done and beautifully presented. We ordered the burrata salad. As a massive fan of burrata, I've eaten way too many. This one was somehow at the bottom of my list, less runny and delicate. Still hard to hate cheese so I'd never say no to eating it (but just comparing). Two of us got the pan roasted chicken, my fiancé got the salmon dish, and my mother to be the bolognese. She loved her bolognese. My fiancé felt the salmon was just ok. My father to be and I received two chicken strip size pieces of chicken on a plate with a couple cherry tomatoes and a flavor puree. Not only was the chicken dry, but it is insane to me how many restaurants are charging $$$ prices for tiny portions. I totally understand the places that have chef-curated dishes and the 2 bites you get are delectable. However, this was not that. When the bolognese was a full meal portion, it's confusing what type of restaurant you're dining at when mine was 10% of the portion size. With a $200+ bill, I left hungry. I guess I could have filled up on their really yummy Japanese milk bread we ordered, but the server did not tell us the bread was complimentary. Speaking of, the environment is lovely at the restaurant, but the service felt very much like a lower end restaurant. read more

Came here for weekday breakfast as a hotel guest. Was hesitant given other reviews but the convenience and seemingly nice modern decor convinced me. Practically empty except one other table. Got a table by window which had AC blasting right on top but fine with a layer on. Food- omelette with 4 ingredients to choose from. Opted for the salmon, feta, mushroom and spinach and was nicely done. Piping out and fluffy eggs. Side of roasted potatoes were nicely cooked with crispy exterior and fluffy inside, also piping out. Coffee was refilled without being asked. Service very attentive and very professional. read more

I decided to try this place out since we were staying at the Marriott uptown hotel already (it's conveniently located inside!) and a friend heard good reviews! It wasn't crowded for a weekend brunch (went around 8:30am). Service was great and servers were attentive! I got a coffee and was frequently offered refills. We ordered the omelet with bacon, feta, spinach and mushrooms and it was pretty nicely prepared! The lemon ricotta pancakes were delicious! Just enough powdered sugar and there was syrup on the side. I will say the portions are on the smaller side but it was perfect for us to not leave any uneaten food behind. It's a nice modern atmosphere and I'd definitely come back if I was nearby again!! read more

The restaurant is inside the Marriott Uptown so it is a few steps from registration in the lobby to the restaurant. We went here for dinner on a Saturday night. We arrived about 6 and it was not busy at all. The ambience is upscale modern but dress is casual. The service was professional and helpful. No complaints. We started with oysters and they were very tasty. Half a dozen were $24. Having just been in Seattle the previous week where oysters are as fresh as can be, we were a bit skeptical about oysters flown in from Canada. But they were really good. Not particularly large, but tasty. For entrees, the wife had the hanger steak which was a special that night and loved it. Very tender and flavorful. We got a Caesar salad and fries for the little one. The fries were overpriced at $8 for a small dish but they were well seasoned and very crispy. I passed on entrees and ordered from the starter menu: flatbread pizza which that night featured sausage; shrimp cocktail; and caprese salad. I liked everything but would note that the cheese in the caprese salad was more the consistency of ricotta rather than mozzarella. And the tomatoes were advertised as heirloom but I think that they were just regular tomatoes. The shrimp cocktail was good but instead of 4-5 big shrimp they give 8 or so small shrimp, looked like 20-25 size. The shrimp did not have any fishy smell or flavor so I enjoyed them. Those are mostly quibbles, however. In general, we enjoyed our meal. It was not particularly inexpensive, but it was an anniversary dinner so cost does not matter. read more

Met a lovely older couple but it's unlikely you will run into them to redeem your trip to this bar. Ordered a non alc cocktail but asked to make it with vodka and that cost $17 extra for a total of $27 (typical cocktails are $17). When pointed out, they said they saved us money by not charging us $5 for the large ice cubes that they don't make in house but purchase. If you go, order strictly off the menu and bring your own entertainment. read more

A lovely brasserie in Uptown. Convenient for business lunches and casual dates with its complimentary valet parking. Busy is their bar. Spacious is their restaurant. Amazing are their crafted cocktails, including mocktails. Phenomenal showmanship and refreshing was their 007-inspired champion shaker "Palazzo Collins" this evening. Delightful was dinner. As I had hoped for, flavorful and crispy skinned was their "Peruvian Roasted Chicken" and exquisite in taste was their gold flaked "Citrus Au Lemon" dessert. A word of caution to the slow service. From needing to ask to be seated to the arrival of each course. Having each dish made fresh is great yet with its open kitchen, seeing certain of our dishes sitting under the heat lamp for awhile before being served is a big no-no to me. CHEERS! read more

Went here for a birthday with group of 9. This restaurant is part of a hotel so we got parking with their valet. Service was pretty good. I think our server was a little new but he was still attentive. Our table ordered quite a bit, starting with the oysters, mussels and bone marrow. Bone marrow was a hit with us because of the flavor but it is quite expensive. We also enjoyed their pesto butter and bread. The main courses are limited. I opted for the Peruvian chicken which was good with the sauce they had. Without, it was definitely dry. My friends enjoyed their burgers a lot. The patties were juicy and flavorful. Dessert was the star for sure though! The lemon tart was a perfect balance of tart and sweet. I would literally come back for just that dessert. Overall everything was good but pretty basic. Its not a must try in Dallas but if you want a not so casual dinner, I would try this place out. read more

Staying at the hotel and stayed for breakfast. Standard fare. But the breakfast potatoes are the worst I've maybe ever had. "Marble potatoes" they call them, so called apparently because they are literally just marble sized small boiled potatoes. I received six of them. That's it. Six tiny marble sized boiled potatoes sadly sitting next to my eggs and bacon. Uh, thanks, but maybe we should look into hash browns or home fries or something. read more

Breakfast is more of a glamorized Starbucks (which is where my bagel & Lox, drink and parfait came from) Service is friendly and the space is beautiful. Bagel and lox was just ok. The tomato is whole and squished therefor not edible, the onions are white and diced and the capers are the size of olives. Using a butter knife proves to be difficult in slicing to layer on your palm sized bagel. Parfait is pretty, but smaller in size and needed more honey in my humble opinion. London fog was as good as ever but for the price I should have just gotten one from the Starbucks to take it with me. All in all JUST ok, I'm sure Dallas food has more to offer. read more

This review is long over due - we came back in February for Valentines Day. They had complimentary champagne since it was "special occasion". Our server was very friendly and helpful. The food did take a long time to come out but we were notified, after we sat down, of the delays because of it being so busy. We ordered various appetizers and had a wonderful time just taking to the lateness didn't bother us. I definitely recommend the Double Doc Dare (drink), caprese salad (the creamiest burrata ever!), burssel sprouts, and clams. The tuna tartar and oyesters we're ok, nothing special. You have to try the desserts!! Absolute best desserts we've had in a long time. They are absolutely delicious! We had the strawberry cheesecake which was so creamy, and the citrus au lemon, which was perfectly sweet and tart! A great place for date night or if you are celebrating anything. read more

Came here for dinner on a Sunday evening, service was good but not the greatest We ordered their tuna appetizer which if it wasn't for that I would probably rate this place 1 star For entrees we ordered their carbonara and tuna pave and boy do they use any seasoning? trust me I don't like my food salty or anything like that but their food seemed not to have any flavor For drinks I only ordered their "queen city nights" and server described it just how it tasted, strong with a tiny bit of sweetness to it, not a fan but won't complain about that one since that's what I asked for I wanted to like this place but it was a disappointment Sadly all you are paying for is presentation. read more

Went for brunch today. Not sure if it was due to the holiday or it's just always slow but there was no need for a reservation. Our server was very nice but everything was slow. Lovely decor but we won't be back. read more

We came here after dinner at a different place specifically for desserts because of the beautiful photos we've seen. Good presentation was good but the actual desserts weren't. We made reservations for our anniversary. We were seated immediately on Saturday, which was fantastic because we were hungry. The overall service was good. Our server wasn't too personable, but it seemed as if the manager started helping us as well and she was very friendly and personable. We were short on the water and got our bread before drinks and then didn't get any more, which was ok because we didn't need the bread, but would have preferred the bread w my wine. The butter was very flavorful. All of the food was so good and flavorful w every bite. We have no complaints about any of the food we tasted. They did give us champagne w dessert which was nice. The desserts were phenomenal!!! Drinks were good and made well. I feel they were a little pricy in comparison. The restrooms are the hotel restrooms and they weren't overly clean. They were ok, just not great. We would recommend, but may not return. Just because we like to try different places and it wasn't over the top for us to go back. read more

Good Graces is an excellent addition to Uptown and I'm so glad that we chose to celebrate an early Valentine's Day / date night here on its opening weekend. Our server (Justin) went above and beyond the entire night. His attention to detail is second to none and he knew the story behind nearly every drink and dish. First off, you MUST order one of their cocktails made in the Tanqueray champion shaker. This is 1 of only 3 shakers of its kind in the US... needless to say it's a whole experience that they wheel around on a cart to provide you with a table side cocktail. You have two choices, a sour or a fizz. From there you choose your liquor, either Tanqueray gin or Ketel One botanical vodka. I chose the Fizz with the cucumber & mint Ketel which also had egg white and coconut. It's one of the best cocktails I have ever had!! In addition to that, we also ordered the espresso martini, the Pegasus, and the Dad Gum It. We shared the Tuna Nikkei as our starter which was their take on ahi poke. The fish was super fresh and topped with a light sauce. It does have a noticeable amount of cilantro, which I'm usually hit or miss with, but it complemented the dish really well. For entrees, I ordered the market seafood plate which included a lobster tail, squid, octopus, scallops, and seasoned butter. The dish was very decadent and included some of the best scallops I've had in Dallas. My boyfriend ordered the Texas Wagyu steak which came out perfectly cooked with a side of asparagus and fries. Overall, 5/5 stars. Would recommend for date night, work dinners, or happy hour with the girls !! read more

Visited with a couple friends on a Saturday afternoon for brunch, and we had a great time! What we ordered: - half-dozen oyster of the day (with mignonette, horseradish, siracha): very delicious; I really liked their mignonette, a good mix of sweet and vinegar-y. - classic ceviche (red snapper/ chulpe corn/ aji amarillo sauce): This was our favorite of our lunch! Chunks of fresh fish mixed with just the right amount of sauce and corn. I got the smoked salmon eggs benedict with spinach and shallot hollandaise. One of the eggs was perfectly poached with the DRIP (iykyk). The dish comes with fingerling potato and braised tomato. I thought that the smoked salmon was too salty, so I ended up taking most of it out of my eggs benedict. That was a little disappointing, but otherwise, a very good meal! read more

I came here for my birthday dinner with a group of 9 people. I had to make a few changes and they were quick to pick up my phone calls and make accommodations. Overall, it was a good experience; my only critique is that it was slow in the beginning. It took awhile to get seated and then it took awhile for our order to come out. However, after we got our appetizers, everything else came pretty quickly. Atmosphere: 5/5 They have complimentary valet parking and its fairly easy to find. It's inside the Marriott hotel-I like how there's a lot of windows and the ambience in general is nice. Service: 4/5 Overall, they were very nice and accommodating. However, as I mentioned before, the service was a bit slow in the beginning. My sister told them it was my birthday and they did bring me a piece of cake that was cutely decorated and delicious! Food: 5/5 The drinks were pretty good. I got the garden elixir (non alcoholic) and added vodka to it. It was light and refreshing; My sister ordered the double doc dare and I thought that was really good! For appetizers, we got oysters and curry mussels. I didn't eat the oysters but everyone else said they were good. The mussels were good if you like curry flavor. We got complimentary bread and I thought it was really unique they brought smoked spreads to go with it (pesto flavor and I forgot the other one). For the entrees we got the wagyu steak which was good but not out of this world and the rigatoni pasta which was really good! We were too full to order dessert, but they brought a piece of chocolate cake for my birthday which was nice. Overall, we had a great experience and I will be back to try the desserts! read more

Loved this neighborhood gem! Stopped in for dinner before a party at The Stoneleigh on Saturday night. I was impressed by every aspect of this restaurant. First off, the decor is lovely with moden elements, yet it feels cozy with soft, overstuffed down pillows. The tables are arranged in a way that feels intimate and, best of all, the restaurant was quiet. Perfect for a date or just a relaxed dinner with good conversation. The drinks were excellent! The Dad Gum It was tart and sweet. The perfect summer beverage. They are also generous with wine pours. We started with the shaved fennel salad, which was fresh and bright with a punch of citrus. I enjoyed the salmon entree paired with the most delicious, melt-in-your mouth herb gnocchi. I could have devoured an entire bowl of the gnocchi! Husband enjoyed the pan roasted chicken with lovely summer vegetables. Wish we had had room for dessert! Best of all, the staff at this restaurant were top notch!
