Forget for a moment the idea of supporting our local businesses (which I think everyone should do), Doyle Opticians is the place to go for exceptional value and over the top knowledge and service. I broke a pair of glasses I needed the next day for a golf tournament I was playing in. Without me asking, they said "no problem, we will drive the new lenses up to the lab in Wisconsin so you can have them tomorrow". Who else does that? I came to Doyle after having been given the run-around by Sunglasses Hut (where I purchased my boyfriend's Ray Bans) and Luxottica corporate. Neither were able to repair a broken temple screw. I walked into Doyle without an appointment and although 4 people stood ahead of me in line, Sean quickly served his customers with satisfaction. I explained I hadn't purchased the glasses at Doyle and that did not matter to him. He fixed them in just a few minutes and thanked me for coming in. No charge. I don't have a need for prescription glasses, but I will purchase all of my future sunglasses from Doyle and highly recommend others to patronize the store. read more

I've always been a fan of Serengeti. I think they have the best sunglass lense technology out there. I'm also a big fan of motorcycle riding. Serengeti frames, for me, don't offer the best for wind protection when riding. I came across Doyle Optical in a search on Serengeti's website for an authorized retailer. I told Shawn what I wanted in a riding prescription sunglass. He showed me the Liberty Sport frames and they fit like a glove. He then told me he would be able to put on prescription Serengeti lenses for the ultimate riding sunglasses. I gave him my prescription and I had my glasses within a week! You would think that this tailor-made customization would cost an arm and a leg! - NOT! I paid way less than what I thought I was going to spend. Now I could get a pair for my car. Sean is truly an expert in his craft and understands - and more importantly, listens to his clients needs to figure out the best solution. They wrap around my head perfectly. The prescription is even compensated for the curvature of the lense so objects don't seem out of whack when I look to the sides. I passed up a Pearl Vision and Lensecrafters to go 10 miles farther for Doyle Opticians. You should too. Much better service and way better prices. read more

When I got a new prescription a couple of weeks ago, I decided to take a family member's recommendation and give Doyle Opticians a try. I'm very glad that I did. It has been a long time since I have had service this personalized and dealt with a provider whose interest was this sincere. I had plenty of opportunity to learn about Doyle because my transaction was not a straightforward one. When I tried on the first glasses that were made for me by Doyle, I knew immediately something was not right. They were clear enough, but I was seeing everything on a diagonal, and felt as if I was about to go crosseyed. It turns out that there'd been a transcription error at my ophthalmologist's office, with the result being that the prescription they gave me was not correct. So, although the glasses were made to the prescription I presented, I could not see out of them. The folks at Doyle immediately volunteered to call my eye doctor to sort out the problem and, after getting a corrected prescription, quickly ordered new lenses--at no cost to me. Right now I am wearing the glasses made with the corrected prescription, and they're awesome: lightweight, comfortable and allowing me razor-sharp vision. This great experience would still not be truly great for me, a cheapskate at heart, if this high level of attention and service also came with a high price tag. Luckily, it does not! I paid less at Doyle than I did a couple of years ago at LensCrafters, and far, far less than I did at the last "boutique" optician I patronized. I worked with Shawn the owner when I stopped in looking for new sunglasses. Shawn helped me pick out quite possibly the most perfect set of frames I have ever had. I have been wearing glasses for over 20 years and have never really found a set that i was 100% happy with. Until Now. His customer service is outstanding, his pride in his product is unmatched. I was amazed at the level of service provided by Sean. The shop has a great selection of glasses. Sean really helped pick a frame out that fits my head. My head is the size of a good sized pumpkin so finding a nice frame is not easy. Since I usually go to corporate operations for my Eyewear needs, I did not know what to expect from a family owned Eyewear facility. I was beyond impressed! Upon entering the building, I was warmly greeted by the owner, and he immediately assisted me with finding the perfect frames. He was genuinely helpful, and seemed to know exactly which frames would be a great fit. They had a wide variety of frames to choose from, as well as sunglasses, including many gorgeous, designer brands. I also usually get my contact lenses from 1-800 contacts, which I thought were the cheapest, but I was wrong. Doyle Opticians Winnetka is the only place I will go to get my glasses and contacts from. Their knowledge of the proper form and fit was unreal, and their prices were unbeatable from the get go. I cannot brag about this place enough, and I would highly recommend them! read more

I was referred to Doyle Opticians from my Optometrist. They had given me 2 recommendations and I tried the other first due to it being closer. I left the first place disappointed in the selection and service. I then immediately drove to Doyle and was greeted by a really nice man who turned out to be Doyle himself! I usually wear contacts but due to dry eye have had to start wearing glasses occasionally. Doyle went above and beyond to find the right frames for my really high prescription. I am really sensitive about how they look having worn glasses since I was a young child. They ordered in a couple frames in my preferred color for me to see. When I went to try them on, I still wasn't sure so Shawn let me borrow the frames to take home and try them on to get a feel of which one I liked better. Now that's service! I knew I would do business with them for sure so I had Shawn order the lenses. I went back with the frames and my glasses were ready in an hour. Doyle made sure they fit my face properly and again, went above and beyond to explain my prescription to me. These guys are fantastic and really understand what personal customer service is. Everything said in other reviews about this place is true. I bought a pair of glasses and the prescription was wrong. Doyle had filled it correctly, but the doctor wrote down the wrong numbers. I went back to the doctor and got the corrected prescription. Doyle replaced the lenses and would not charge me for the fix. It wasn't Doyle's fault, wasn't my fault, but they still fixed it for free. I love this place! read more

I changed to Doyle about 5 years ago. they have done a fantastic job since then. i am a bit of a klutz, and frequently require repairs to my glasses, including the time the dog chewed them. each time they have done the repair and the wont charge me even when i try to pay them. They get to know you quickly and always give you quick and personalized service, even to the extent or staying open late so that i could come by after work. read more

I want to highly recommend Doyle Opticians. I went to LensCrafters one evening to have very basic lenses put into my daughter's glasses and needed a fast turnaround. I brought her frames, and I was quoted $245 for the lenses. For that price, I decided I would much prefer to support the local, family owned store in my town, Doyle Opticians. As it turns out, their price which included some of the bells and whistles we had hoped for was approximately 1/3 of the price of LenseCrafters, and they had her glasses done within an hour.
