Dr. K is the best! Great team & facility too. Even though my vision insurance changed, I'll pay out of pocket to go there.

Was told it would be a few days and they may arrive by the end of the week. Didn't hear back the next week, didn't hear back the following week. After calling, I was told my order would be ready 03/07. Picked up my glasses and as soon as I got them home and cleaned, I realized there was a pinpoint dot in the coating on one lens. Came back to drop them off to be repaired on 03/09. Was told they'd be repaired in a few days. Called 03/16 and was told they'd call me back. Called 03/17 after not hearing from them and was told that "maybe they'd be ready by the end of the week". I did everything right. I went to a local business, I spent almost $500, I called every step of the way to remind them. I got FAR better service at a chain and it was free. Last time I ordered glasses I spent nothing out of pocket and they arrived in a week and a half. It's been almost a month, I paid $500, and I still don't have my glasses. And no one who works here returns phonecalls. Don't patronize this shop. The service is worse than a chain and in the four times I've had to visit the store, no one has been in it. Small wonder.

This is the worst practice I've been to and I've had glasses or contacts for 25 years and many…read moreoptometrists. The first thing the optometrist says to me, even before asking my name, looking at my file, or doing an exam is if I want to try daily contacts. This is not based on anything medical. He says they're much better and they only cost 30% more than monthly which I currently use. Well he can't do simple math because I found out later that they are actually 300% more- even with rebates and insurance. The lenses on the equipment are dirty and cloudy which makes the eye exam harder to do. They ask me if I want to try daily's. I said sure why not I'll try them. And they will not give me a prescription until I try them. Well it's nice but not enough for me to pay over $800 a year for contacts. I request a written prescription so I can buy my regular contacts online where it is half the price. They send over a prescription for a specific brand of daily contacts. I say no I want monthly. They say they can't give me a prescription for monthlies unless I try them. What?! They never told me this when giving me the sample. I didn't know I was committing to getting daily contacts when they handed me 5 days worth of lenses. They insist and say other optometrists don't care as much about their customers which is BULLSHIT. So I have to go in AGAIN and get the sample. After a few weeks, I request a prescription for monthlies. They send me the daily prescription again!! So I ask them again- please send me a monthly prescription. They do send one but it is again BRAND SPECIFIC to B&L. I didn't realize that until I tried to order myself new contacts online and it was denied. Because I tried to buy a different brand of monthly contacts that I prefer and know very well after using contacts for over 20 years. So how many calls and visits does it take to get the single prescription I need? With all of my previous optometrists- it was one simple email after my eye exam. None of them have tried to sell me super expensive, brand specific daily contacts. BEWARE OF THIS UNETHICAL AND INCOMPETENT PRACTICE.

The staff were lovely, the service wonderful, and the glasses beautiful. When I moved to Wilmette, I found this was the closest location to my new home, and I will never go back after what I experienced. My husband went first, and told me the staff were obnoxious and aggressive about selling glasses, which was the opposite of our experiences over the last 15+years at the other locations. I went to see for myself, and completely agree. The woman was rude, pushy, and judgmental. When I told her I wanted a second pair and therefore did not want to spend a lot, she got very nasty and rude, and bristled at my decision. When I came to pick up my glasses, she completely ignored me, turning her attention to shoppers and those waiting to see the doctor who obviously did not need to be helped. Her behavior was classless and rude, and she cheapened the experience when clearly this establishment has beautiful items and is part of a lovely larger chain. Evanston, you can learn a lot from the Southport, Roscoe, and LaSalle locations - they have it together! Your nastiness and judgement have no place in such a sweet neighborhood. Please treat customers kindly and respectfully and reserve your judgement for your own purchases.

For my convenience since I had another appointment in Evanston that day, I visited the office to pick out new frames. I was greeted and was told that someone would be with me. There were several stations where some customers were being helped and some employees had no customers. I walked around the lobby to start looking at frames. Sat down for a few minutes and got back up and continued to shop the frames in the store until finally one employee that was sitting there with no customers asked if I needed help. REALLY?! I explained why I was there and she asked if I had insurance and I told her yes. She asked what kind. I told her. Then proceeds to tell me that they DO NOT accept my insurance there. I told explained that I was told by one of her colleagues that they did. She told me maybe I should go downtown. So...poor customer service, bad employee training, uninformed employees. All just bad and a total waste of my time. DO BETTER!

I have now seen both Dr. Neukirch and Dr. DalPorto and I can say they are both fantastic. Dr. DalPorto is my regular optometrist but I had to see Dr. Neukirch when she was completely booked and Dr. Neukirch literally had one appointment available the next day. It was pure luck because they were both completely booked for the next 2 months. When seeing Dr. Neukirch, I could tell he was very knowledgable. He knew exactly who I was, understood my file, etc., in literal minutes of just glancing the notes from my past visits. I could tell he was totally brilliant. Dr. DalPorto is amazing too. She helped me narrow down my issues with my diplopia and she is incredibly nice. I always feel so comfortable when she is helping me and I don't ever feel frustrated like I have with other optometrists. You can seriously just feel how kind and wonderful of a person she is. I truly recommend this office to anyone looking for a great optometrist. I also want to add that there was like a tech or a helper that came and talked to be before I was seen by the doctor, and she was FANTASTIC. It was so weird, because I know she was taking notes to help the doctor in preparing and understanding my needs, but she made me feel prepared too. I don't know how to explain it. And while I think Carillon Vision Care is great, I do have some notes. I get emails calling me by another patients name telling me my prescription is 5 years out of date and that I need to schedule an appointment. I get these emails about once a week and sometimes have gotten them multiple times a day. I have complained to the office about it 3x and told them unsubscribing doesn't help but they have not fixed the issue. It's also a concern because sharing another patients information is not really safe. Luckily, I just know this other patients name and when the last time she visited was, so nothing super personal was shared. Also, some of the front desk ladies could be nicer. They not totally mean but they're just not nice either. If you're looking for a good doctor, I cannot recommend this place enough. Maybe just don't share your email address. If they fix the email problem, this place is totally 5 stars. _____ They fixed the email problem. 5 Stars!
