I came in to this local store with a broken bow which needed repair, if possible, before leaving town. I had little hope it could be done in time. However, the gentleman waiting on me indicated he might be able to help. He returned a few minutes later saying he'd found a bow virtually indistinguishable from my other bow. He also repaired my bridge saying it was coming loose and he replaced a nose pad. All of that seems rather ordinary I suppose but that all changed to extraordinary when I asked how much I owed him. he said, "oh, that's alright, no charge". I was really taken aback. I mean who does that anymore? I was in a jam and I would have paid whatever he asked. He knew that, but still, he didn't take advantage of the situation. I just really like Craig Scott and I happen to get fantastic, very personal and personable service as well as getting introduced to great products. I especially recommend the titanium, super lightweight, screw-less (not a convoluted euphemism, literally sans screws), nigh on indestructible wonder specs from the land of the Viking. Does it sound like I'm overly excited by my eyewear? Well I am. They definitely get my blood pumping rendering viagra redundant. They are a little on the pricey side but instead of annually getting new frames to replace the warped and mangled remains of the frames that had served me the preceding year (which I had been doing) I only have to get new frames once every lifetime. So totally cheaper in the long run. Anyway, I did indeed splurge and coughed up the Franklin septuplets or octuplets necessary to get the indestructible frames which it turned out were a wise investment, seeing how a decade after purchasing them I now find myself living with my twin three year old daughters and my one year old son who all have an unceasing fascination with the workings of all eyeglasses and apparently feel duty bound to put all glasses that come within reach of their chubby little fingers through a most rigorous durability test (not just every pair of glasses but every pair of glasses every time they meet). I am happy to report that the glasses are in almost perfect condition to this day. They do require the occasional replacement of nose pads and temple covers, these little bits of rubber that do eventually wear out or fall off. But the, 5 star, first class customer service at Craig Scott Opticians has always replaced these bits for me gratis. In this day and age when everything is made to be disposable and you only get third world customer service if you are lucky enough to get any (self-service everything is putting both customer service and the employees who render it on the endangered species list. Soon it will be just as hard to find people to help you in a brick and mortar establishment as it is get to a person to help you on the phone. Maybe Luddites aren't so crazy after all. Highly recommend Craig Scott. He is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, and a real problem solver. First went to him several years ago when I was having problems with brand new glasses made by a different independent optometrist/optician business. I had been back to the original shop four times, telling them something was wrong, that the new glasses distorted things and gave me headaches. Each time they checked the glasses, checked my prescription, and told me it was just a matter of getting used to the new prescription. So I went to Scott, whose father we used to patronize years ago. He quickly identified the problem: the other shop had put the left prescription in the right eye and the right prescription in the left eye! My wife and I have been going to Scott ever since. More recently I brought him a new prescription from a new ophthalmologist. He called a day or two later and told me he was certain the prescription was wrong, had called the ophthalmologist's office on my behalf and talked them into a re-examination at no charge and without the usual long lead-time to get an appointment. Sure enough, when I got re-examined, the ophalmologist discovered the prescription had been written incorrectly. It would have cost me big bucks if Craig had simply made the glasses as the Rx was written, and I then had to have them remade. He might be a little more expensive than some other places, and it may take a little longer to get the glasses made, but I really believe this is a case of getting what you pay for and quality taking time. read more

I have not been pleased with the customer service that we've received here. Our excellent ophthalmologist recommended that we get our child's glasses here but it's such a hassle. The selection is relatively small. Everything is SLOW. For some reason they can't access vision insurance information in the office, so they have to call to look into it. Then they're supposed to call you back but never do, so you need to call them. Then half the time the person doesn't know what you're talking about and half the time they're "working alone" so will need to call you back. But they don't. So you call again. Half the time they have the info you need and half the time they don't, so you need to call back. Then eventually you'll get your glasses ordered. Then the same sequence of events unfolds in order to find out if your glasses are ready. And should something happen to those glasses or do you need an updated prescription or basically need any other service...good luck. read more

Run don't walk away from this business. I needed new glasses last year and went to Craig Scott, where I had been getting my glasses for more than 20 years. I was talked into an expensive coating on the lenses, told it would cut down glare. Over the last year the coating became foggy and I was having trouble seeing out of my glasses. I went to an optometrist near where I work and was told something was very wrong with the lenses and to go back to where I purchased them. I went back to Craig Scott and was told by a woman who worked there that the warranty was expired and I needed new glasses. I told her I'd spent almost $500 on these and had been talked into the coating and expected them to replace my lenses. She was incredibly dismissive and basically said "No." She said she called Craig who told her I had to pay close to $200 for new lenses. The fact that I had been going there for years, as had my family, meant nothing. The fact that they had talked me into this coating meant nothing. I will find a new optometrist who cares about patients. read more

I've bought several pairs of eyeglasses here over the years. They know exactly what I am looking for and carry stuff you won't see in the chains in the mall. Mona (one of the opticians) even offered to shop online and in catalogs to order styles for me to try on before I buy. They have the lab onsite for repairs and the quality is outstanding. My husband and I were referred to Craig Scott when our 15 month old son needed glasses. Our little one was far from patient during his eye exam so we knew getting him fitted for and acclimated to glasses might be a challenge. We were correct and he was none to happy to have glasses on his face. Craig and his brother could not have been nicer and more encouraging during what could have been a frustrating time for my husband and me. They were extremely patient and gentle with our son and very reassuring that he would eventually warm up to the glasses. I am happy to say that although we still have a little road ahead of us, he has very much begun to get used to them and wears them now for good durations of time.
