I went to this location to get my prescription filled. I chose a fun pair of frames. Upon receiving them, I noticed the fit wasn't quite right. I went back and showed Phyllis the area that wasn't right. She went ahead and ordered different sized frames. I went in today and after trying on additional frames, I decided to ask for a refund. When I asked for clarification, I was met with condescension and told I should "pay more attention" instead of receiving a proper explanation. Zero respect for patients, zero professionalism. Glad I went here for my eye exam. I have been using acuvue for years but always had issues with dryness and fit. Dr Sheade took his time listening to what I liked/disliked of using biweekly and daily contacts. After thorough exams he had me try a completely different brand/type of contacts. Then he retested and sent me home with a few trial lenses. My eyes see so much more clearly and feel so comfortable. Wish I had gone to see him sooner! This business just opened up a month or so ago. I had wanted to stop in to talk about putting prescription lenses in my new sunglasses. Well, yesterday after stepping on my eye glasses, it became a bigger priority. i showed the business owner Kevin the damage to my frames (bent temple) and while we talked he went to work straightening out the damage I had inflicted. After a few minutes, he had them in shape, a few more tweaks and we were both happy. When I went to pay for the service... he politely declined payment. I never expect service for free, and will definitely be back soon to get those lenses for the new sunglasses when my new benefit year kicks in next month for my vision. I ordered a pair of glasses online and the try-ons were great and fit well, but when my prescription ones came in, not so good. I was going to return them but they told me to see if I could find a place to get them adjusted. I yelped of course to find a place, and Corner Optical had GREAT reviews. I called to make sure they would, and he said bring them in! I went in, he looked at the glasses, adjusted them, and wiped all my fingermarks off of them. They are fitting awesome now and it only cost me $10. Best $10 ever spent. Especially thinking about the headache of finding new frames I loved as much as these!! Both of the people were so personable, and answered all my questions. When I need a new pair of glasses, sunglasses, or if anyone I know needs them, Ill send them this way. My appointment was yesterday morning. Everyone was wide awake and very courteous from the time I entered. Each professional has a specific goal..to assist with the highest courteous comfortable professional assistance in every section of optical care. I had some time before my optical appointment so I used the time to check out frames. I knew I needed to purchase sunglasses for sure this time, so I looked over sun styles first. They have several popular styles. I found an attractive pair quickly. The sales staff is very friendly and helpful. Patience is the key to extraordinary public service. Kudos to all the staff. Time for the optical check and testing. Whats going on with my pupils? The optical check was very through and all my inquiries were answered very professionally. I was quite impressed with their knowledgable answers to my many questions. Next. Off to choose optical frames. Snap. Frames were chosen in a flash as a staff member assisted me with several styles. I am not too, choosey. My eyes just need to look good and the frames have to highlight my whole face :) Corner Optical has Free Frame Fridays. Thou, just recently they extended the Free Frame Friday to everyday that they are open. The Free Frames are located in the section closest to the front window. Wait wait, I know what your thinking... I read yelp reviews, and visit this store for routine eye exam/ lens fitting. I have strong prescription (over -12 both eyes w/ astigmatism) and during the exam- the doctor told me "stop lying what you see". seriously... I thought it was unprofessional comment, but then- I took it as a joke, since my exam took about an hour. Optometrist seemed unsure of my new prescription, and he even changed the prescription at the last minutes. Very doubtful, but I decided to follow his instruction and ordered the glasses anyway. After I received the glasses w/ new prescription from Corner optical, I couldn't see or even driving. I tried for 2 weeks then, I thought I have serious eye problem. 2 weeks later, I saw medical doctor (ophthalmologist), and she told me my eyes are fine. She prescribed totally different one than what I got from Corner Optical. Dr. referred me to see optometrist in Northshore hospital for another lens fitting, and the optometrist prescribed me the similar prescription as medical doctor, and the prescription from Corner optical was WAY OFF from both. Okay. It took me over 6 weeks to figure out prescription for my eyes. I visited the Corner Optical again to request refund for eye exam fee and lens fitting fee. The owner, Kevin was like... "your eyes are fluctuating a lot anyway" Sounds like it was MY fault. There are more things to say, but I think I wrote enough for this place. 5 Stars on yelp page? Originally I went to W**mart for prescription glasses, but because of my high prescription the glasses did not work out and I had to return them the next day. Needless to say, I was hesitant to try again. Corner Optical is on my way home from work so I decided to stop in to check out the selection. I was pleasantly surprised to see a very good selection of stylish contemporary frames. Kevin, the owner, was very knowledgeable and explained how he could customize the lenses for the frame I selected. I recently took my eye glasses prescription to this community based eyecare center and was most pleased with the frame selection and service by Optician Kevin. Not only very helpful in selecting my new frames, Kevin went many"extra miles" to be sure the lenses were a comfortable fit for the chosen frames. Kevin returned the lenses to the lab several times until lighter, thinner lenses were achieved. I require prisms in my progressive lenses and the initial lenses sent by the lab were too heavy for a comfortable fit with the frames. I was driving when I noticed that my glasses were hurting my nose. Upon inspection, I realized that my nose pad was missing. I stopped into Corner Eyecare - the closest optical shop. I had never been there before but Kevin replaced both nose pads for me. They are much more comfortable than the ones my glasses came with. I worked with Kevin when he was with NorthShore in Northbrook. When he started his own practice, I followed him. I "got" my first pair of glasses from him in December, 2011 and paid him $360. I had the glasses for 2 years and travelled from Libertyville to Glenview at least a half dozen times in the winter to tell him I could not see. Not only could I not see, they were so heavy they made purple marks on my nose and I had to get at least 6 new pairs of eye pads. These visits were very frustrating for me. I got tired of driving back and forth from Libertyville and his frustration in telling me I should be able to see!! At one point, he actually told me I had the WRONG prescription! So I finally just took them off, put them on the counter and said = I am returning these. And walked out. And drove back to Libertyville. Did he try to contact me to make things right - NEVER! He had my glasses AND my money and absolutely NO COMMUICATION THREE YEARS LATER I emailed him reminding him he never compensated me and he said "I have no intention of charging you for replacement frames or lenses." However, my bill for my new glasses was $310.14. Really????????? And then GUESS WHAT HAPPENED?? I had my glasses for a couple weeks and a lens fell out. I brought them back and DID NOT HEAR FROM HIM for 2 months!!!! When I called he told me he was working on it. So now he has almost $700 of my money and I HAVE NO GLASSES! I tried getting a refund a couple times but absolutely no respose from him. I called VSP and they were able to get a refund of the $310.14 for me after 4 months! I have since retired and lost my VSP coverage so now I get no discount when I GO SOMEWHERE ELSE to get my glasses. read more

I first noticed Corner Optical when I saw a sign out front that said "Free Adjustments". My 6-year old daughter's glasses always need adjustment. Kevin, the owner, has graciously adjusted her glasses many many times. I have offered to pay him, especially considering how frequently we stop in, but he always refuses. When my daughter needed new glasses, we went straight to Corner Optical. Kevin had quite a few frames to look at. The turnaround time was good and the glasses look great on my daughter. The next day after we picked up the glasses, we were back since she had bent them already. And again Kevin adjusted them for us, for free. Dr David Sheade is a life saver! I went to another place down the road and would've gone blind with the non-treatment I was receiving there. Dr. Sheade answered the phone and from what I told him was already explaining in depth what the problem probably was & took me in ASAP. He listened without interruption & was very thorough in explaining what was going on with my eyes & how it was going to be treated - unlike the other place that left me hanging with nothing for a week & a half plus dealing with a snotty receptionist. Got glasses there a while back; always thought they were too thick and heavy (I do have a strong prescription but they still seemed heavy). Avoided wearing them except when I had to for serious reading. Even then with careful handling the temples broke. Very recently went with a relative to an experienced optician about whom I had gotten excellent personal referrals. Showed them the glasses and was informed I had tempered glass lenses! Quite a laugh there about that as they had not even seen such in years. Obviously I did not ask for, or expect, glass lenses when purchasing from a seemingly serious shop. read more

A totally positive experience! I've been wearing glasses for 58 of my 63 years, and my eyes have steadily grown worse. Add to which, I'm very hard on glasses--break them, misplace them, keep them in multiple offices, and generally need extra pairs. Until I was in high school, I had a wonderful optician in Bethesda, Maryland--Hippchen Optician--but since moving to Texas and Chicago, I've been dealing with the drag of the big local and national chains--and one real horror story with one of the biggest. After my latest prescriptions (one pair of bifocals, matching pairs of computer readers) I started shopping around for something new and different.
