I came down with a major eye injury a few months ago that prevented my eye from closing property, resulting in excessive dry eye and irritation to my cornea, which can lead to irreversible damage. I was in extreme pain from the discomfort (to the point of tears!). Dr. Frohm was able to see me on short notice and provided me with the tests and Rx medicine needed to control my eye pain and prevent further injury. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and most importantly, personable. The office is clean and stylish, and offers a well-curated collection of eyewear from popular designers and local brands. I returned a month later for my annual eye exam and ordered glasses and prescription sunglasses, both of which were turned around in less than a week. I really appreciated the quick turnaround time, as I was able to have them in time for my vacation. Kudos to the office manager, Shayla, for working with me to go over my insurance options and for her help on my eye wear selection. Northfield Vision Center is a modern, professional, and cutting-edge facility providing quality eye care. Highly recommended.

I had difficulty seeing anything up close with the contacts I wore that were based on her prescription. Reading books, checking my watch, or reading on my phone was impossible due to the blurriness. It bothered me for 2 years, and I was very frustrated with the issue. I asked her to adjust the prescription several times. She made slight adjustments, which were not helpful. She finally told me she could do no more, or I would have trouble seeing things far away. She also told me that it was normal to have blurry vision while wearing contacts when looking at things close up because contacts are different than glasses. This was incorrect information! I wasn't sure what the problem was, but I figured it was my eyes. Eventually, due to the discomfort, I gave up wearing contacts unless it was absolutely necessary. The issue was finally resolved when I took a trip to Taiwan and consulted an optometrist there who told me that the prescription Dr. Dalporto gave me was entirely wrong and too strong. They said that she should not have simply given me a prescription based on whatever the vision test machine determined. Every prescription needs to be adjusted based on each individual's lifestyle and habits so that anything--both close up and at a distance--can be seen clearly and comfortably. I received a new prescription, and when I tried the new contacts, I immediately noticed a huge difference. They were so comfortable, and I had no trouble seeing or reading things on a computer, on my phone, or close up. The problem I had with blurriness that had been bothering me for years was finally resolved! Now I can wear contacts again--every day, all day. I went back to Dr. Dalporto and asked her to adjust the prescription on file based on the new prescription. She simply copied the numbers directly from the Taiwanese prescription and checked my vision. It was 20/20, of course. Had she actively tried her best to help me achieve the most comfortable and accurate prescription years ago, I would not have suffered so much with blurry vision when trying to see things close up! When I complained, the office manager was cold and impatient and didn't apologize for all the trouble I had been through. Instead, she asked me, "Is there anything else?" At this point, I was so fed up with this mess and so shocked at the customer service I received that I decided to change optometrists completely for my own vision care. One of the fundamental jobs of an optometrist is to give correct, comfortable contact lens prescriptions to patients. If they fail to provide an accurate prescription, it raises serious doubts about their professional competence. This experience proved to me that Dr. Dalporto doesn't care about her patients' vision, nor does she try her best to solve the vision issues they have. Instead, she is very passive, only does what she is asked to do (but poorly), and performs vision tests that a robot could do. In a word, she is incompetent. Don't go to Dr. Dalporto. She is totally unprofessional and won't give you a correct prescription!

She wasn't very happy about it, but we picked out a cute pair and I think she's worn them about 3 times in the past 2 years. A few days into 7th grade I received an email from her math teacher that he was pretty sure by the way she was squinting in class that she can't see. I confirmed that she can't and had another chat with her about wearing her glasses, but she was very reluctant. I recalled our eye dr saying that around 12/13 is the perfect time to get contact lenses and so I thought we should give it a try. We went to the eye dr who confirmed her vision had gotten much worse and it was time for glasses (or contacts) all the time. She then met with their contact specialist who spent an hour with her trying to teach her out to put them in. She left frustrated about wearings contacts. We were about to go back to the eye dr for another lesson when a friend told me about the contact whisperer, Dr. Daisy Mendez, at Perspective Eyes. I was willing to try anything so made an appointment for later that week. My daughter spent an hour with Dr. Daisy, who was sooo patient with her. Dr. Daisy started by teaching her out to remove them first and then they tackled how to put them in. She also numbed the eyes at the appointment, which helped her learn as well. She almost got it in that first hour, but not quite, so we went back a few days later and she conquered it in 30 minutes. It's been about a week and we are still perfecting putting them in, but everyday it gets easier. This morning she got them in within 7 minutes (our record so far!). I have to hold her long eyelashes away from her eye, which I hope I'm not still doing for her when she goes to college...but so happy that she can finally see. And she won't admit it, but I think she's thrilled to finally be able to see at school, on the tennis court and elsewhere. I tried contacts myself when I was her age and failed miserably. With the exception of driving I walk around pretty blind myself, but am tempted to give them another try now with Dr. Daisy. We will continue to go here for her eyecare and so thrilled my friend told me about this gem of a business and Dr!

The first thing they did was take me to have my retina scanned for possible disease. A great addition to the normal eye visits of years ago. Dr. Dembo appears to be interested in the health of the eye, and not just fitting contacts and glasses. The exam part took about 20 minutes, as he looked for even minor changes in my astigmatism and vision. We discussed options for types of contacts would be best for me. He also showed my where my contacts were getting dirty and answered questions why my eyes were getting irritated as of late. I was interested in possibly new frames, since the ones I had were getting loose. Rather than try to sell me new frames, he simply tightened the ones I had and he said I did not need new glasses. I did end up working with the woman there who does frames, just out of curiosity what a new pair would look like, since my frames are about 10 years old. I spotted a couple frame on the display I liked. Turns out they are on the expensive side. Rather than simply try to sell me on those, she went in the back to find me a similar pair that was much less expensive and was exactly what I was looking for.

First off, I never write…read morereviews, but I feel that I need to warn anyone considering seeing him about his unprofessional demeanor and his aggressiveness pushing product at you. Not to mention, his inability to provide quality care. I have had annual eye exams for the past 20 years, and never have I had a more miserable experience. I had my eye exam with Dr. Dembo in October of 2016. I was looking for a doctor close to home, as my old optometrist had left the practice I had been going to for years. My husband also came with me at this time to have an annual exam as well. At first, everything seemed as it should be. The office space is nice and the doctors assistant that helped with our Optomap testing was very kind. My husband went in with the doctor first, while I waited outside. Then it was my turn, and up to this point everything had been normal but, that was soon to change. As Dr. Dembo started the exam, he made small talk, asking about why I was in, and where I worked. As soon as he found out that I worked in sales he started talking to me about optical sales in his office. He didn't understand why it was so hard for someone to pick out a pair of frames, that it was so easy. I had worn my glasses to the appointment, knowing that you're usually asked to remove your contacts right away. In an attempt to make me feel like I should get a new pair of glasses, he proceeded to tell me that my glasses looked "BITCHY". I was stunned. Never in my life have a had a doctor say such a thing. Next thing that went wrong was when he went to put eye drops in my eyes. Immediately, my eyes started to burn and tear. Not once did he say what the drops were for or, what their side effects might be. In all of my years of eye exams the doctor will tell you what they are about to do, what it's for and the side effects you might feel. As if all of this wasn't enough, he decided it was now time for him to start pushing product on me. We started talking about contacts. He suggested a brand, left the room to grab a pair, came back and then put them in my eyes on his own, without asking if it was ok or if I'd prefer to do it myself. Again, not a comfortable experience. But that isn't the end of it... he takes the first pair out of my eyes, and tells me that today is my "lucky day", he's going to treat me. Again, not normal and I was feeling a tad bit violated at this point. He then proceeds to put a new pair of contacts in my eyes, not telling my what they are, or the difference from the first pair. He then instructs me to go across the room and take a look at my eyes in a mirror. Low and behold he had put colored contacts in my eyes and immediately tried to sell me on them. At this point, I'm dying to leave the room and GTF out of the office. Dr. Dembo then asks me if I'm looking for a new pair of frames, as he's walking me out of the exam room, to which I let him know that I'm happy with what I have. In the waiting room, I meet my husband who has been talking to a new woman, who I assume is in charge of frames. Dr. Dembo then starts handing me several pairs of glasses at a time, trying to show me what will look good on me. The lady helping my husband then jumps in and starts handing me frames as well. I clearly wasn't interested, but yet they kept on pushing frames on me. Telling me that certain glasses looked so good on me when they clearly didn't. Finally, my husband and I break free of the frame frenzy and the doctor starts talking to his next victim. We go up to the front desk, pay ($500) for the exams and ask for our scripts. We get to the car and compare our experiences. I look over my prescriptions for both contacts and glasses, because yet again, Dr. Dembo didn't talk to me in the appointment about what he thought was going on with my eyes. I immediately notice something is wrong with my prescription, so I head back in to get some clarification on what has just happened. I am greeted by the lady helping us with frames and ask her a few questions about what is going on. She tells me, that according to the prescription, I have astigmatism. A detail that the doctor DID NOT mention once in the appointment, and a condition I have never been diagnosed with in the past (recently confirmed by another doctor that I don't have now). I start to explain to her that I don't understand where that is coming from and that I wasn't informed about it in the appointment. She then starts raising her voice at me, trying to explain away the astigmatism when I knew wholeheartedly that it was wrong, and that the doctor had f-ed up. We had just dropped over $500 for both appointments and this is how we were treated when we had questions. In addition to everything else, the sample contacts that my husband was given had expired 2 years ago...
