Very disappointing experience at Flavortown in Myrtle Beach. My family went on Sunday at around 5 PM, and unfortunately, we never even made it far enough to order food. From the moment we walked in, the experience wasn't welcoming. The hostess did not seem to be in the best mood and wasn't particularly warm or friendly. The restaurant was mostly empty, yet it still took about 10 minutes just to get seated. We were eventually seated toward the back of the restaurant near the kitchen windows. Then we waited...and waited. We sat at our table for almost 20 minutes without a single employee coming over to greet us, take a drink order, or even acknowledge that we were there. What made it even more frustrating was that numerous waitresses and what appeared to be managers walked past our table during that time. Not one stopped, made eye contact, or asked whether anyone had helped us. After nearly 20 minutes of being completely ignored, we finally got up and left. I understand restaurants can get busy and things can fall through the cracks, but the restaurant was mostly empty at 5 PM. Between waiting 10 minutes to be seated and then sitting another 20 minutes without so much as a hello, we spent roughly half an hour there and never received any service whatsoever. For a restaurant associated with such a well-known name, I expected a much better level of hospitality and organization. He guided us through the menu to highlight things to try if you were undecided. So, ask for Dillion!!! We wanted to wait a couple of months to try out Guy, so that all the kinks could be worked out. I've been to several of his recommended diners/dives and they never disappoint. The kitchen, which is glassed in, was very weeded! Two chefs/cooks pushing out all the food and no expeditor in sight. No manager jumped in to help...this is crazy!!! We definitely waited for everything, which is fine, as long as it hot. Everything was warm/cool. Yes! I should have returned our items back to the kitchen but they were so weeded that it would have been pointless. This is the 4th celebrity restaurant that I have tried. Great experiences with two and two that need work. To be fair, they are still working out the glitches and I am sure that they will take the fall-winter dead season to hone and polish. The portions are generous. I boxed the leftovers and had them for dinner. I baked the fries, nuked the protein bottoms of the sandwiches, and reassembled. It was hot and flavorful!!! So I would try these again, when the kitchen gets righted. It's VERY LOUD and a lot of folks on vacation. So, be aware that their manners are on autopilot. I am so glad we drove passed this place going to LuLu's restaurant the other day. Today we decided to go and stop in and have lunch. It was one of our best choices day 2 of our vacation from LINY to Myrtle Beach. I recommend the bourbon brown sugar wings and I asked for the Carolina gold sauce on the side. I had to order a second set after my family tore down the first set of wings. They were so good. The kids got chicken fingers and they were so tender. My daughter had the hamburger w lettuce and she said it was the BEST burger she has ever had. My wife had the Cheeseburger trash can nachos. She loved it and I had the Korean bbq chicken. I would love to come back. I am going to wake up and have some leftovers tmw morning. Chelsie was our waitress and the manager I am sorry I forgot his name but he was the one who recommended the Carolina Gold Sauce on the side. I think this place will be great. James (son) and I wanted to try the new Flavortown restaurant by Guy Fieri that opened a few weeks ago. We sat at the bar to avoid a wait for a table. Josh & Eric were the bartenders. They quickly served us and kept up with refills. Both were friendly and helpful with the menu and general info on restaurant. James ordered the Smokehouse Smash Burger which he said was very good. I had the Old School Steak Sandwich. My sandwich was brought out about 10 minutes after James' burger. Eric contacted the the servers to locate it. I am guessing there are still some bugs in the new system. My sandwich was lukewarm and there was a shortage of steak on it. It was mostly onion rings and peppers on a 6" bun. It was tasty but sparse on protein. The overall atmosphere was fun with all the various games surrounding the bar. Price wise it was a bit high for what I received. Even for Myrtle Beach. $6 drafts, $23 for that mini steak sandwich and $22 for the burger which he did like. Besides a famous name, I think that it will have trouble competing with the Dave & Busters, 8-10 bowling and the new Alley Oops which will open soon. They all are similar in theme. We may try it again after it's been open for a while and see if things smooth out. read more

Got here for the party of three just before 5 PM. There was a 20 minute wait so we decided to eat at the bar. Our server, Eric, was phenomenal. Very kind, attentive and knowledgeable. The place is super clean. The menu is extensive. How old is the meatloaf. I didn't care for the indoor sausage. It was a little tough. I got an extra side of gravy and that made it even better. My wife got just a regular burger. And she said it was good.. And our friend got the burger that had the pulled pork and bacon on it. And she said it was excellent. We also got the street corn nachos. The corn with the bacon and jalapeños was excellent, but I didn't care for the chips. I believe they are too thick and I prefer mine thinner. Enjoy!!! read more

Recently brand new at time of review, so was expecting it to be a little sluggish but took a while to get appetizer order after getting drinks (which was near immediately), and an even longer to be able to place main-course order. Ordered cheeseburger trashcan nachos but came with what I assume were Hot Honey chicken strip pieces instead (not complaining it sounds like it'd work), but it was bland chicken, and overall just plain for being $22. Mac Daddy Buffalo Chicken Sandwich was very big but not flavorful at all. No heat or flavor from buffalo sauce. Taco Bell mild sauce is hotter than the chicken was. The pimento cheese burger same way. And on top of that, food all came out lukewarm. We were seated near the kitchen, which is big glass windows, and there was just a queue of nothing being grabbed. Basically everything looks flavorful but then you dig in to bland food that is not the warmest. Like another review said, Dave and Busters is a better experience. The food is awful. Those rumors we all have heard regarding bad food from a Guy Fieri property are true. My friend had a cheesesteak and has been ill all afternoon. I had meatloaf and how it was assembled I'm still wondering about. It's touristy and that means expensive. I can see how the kids would like it. Plenty of bells, lights and whistles plus plenty of room to run around. Service was very good. Eager and enthusiastic about it. OK - I've always LOVED all recommendations from DDD and have gone to several and watch the show frequently. I was pleasantly surprised to have DTFT open not to far from my place. When you walk in it's like walking into a casino with the requisite carpeting - but alas the games are the quick money grab kids games which is fine - there are a million places like this in the area. My wife and I went into the restaurant and had great service, and excellent food. We had a chicken sandwich, prime rib sandwich, two drinks, and the big order of nachos. All were really good - but honestly way too expensive for two people for dinner. That's why four stars. The entrees were over $20 but the sandwiches could be found at other places in the area for less money. The Motley Que nachos were what is prompting the high rating - I'm an eater and have knocked down a million nachos and these were the best I've ever had and was enough for two people. If I go back that's all my wife and I will order and that will be enough to feed us and be much less expensive. The entree sandwiches were very good - but not 5 star worthy - especially considering the price. Enjoyed my time there last week. read more

Burger had good flavor and patty was large, but flat - it is a smash burger, but usually with that you get 2 patties, but this was only one. However we shared all the food and were able to eat most of it between the 2 of us. Salad was very good. Would definitely get that again, and would try other menu items. NOT FOR LOCALS. But the tourists will love it. This new spot is clearly built on a seasonal tourist model. The design reflects that: arcade games, gift shop, entertainment packed tight, and a menu built for novelty. If you're a visitor passing through during the summer rush, you'll probably have a decent time. If you're a local looking for quality dining, skip it. Here's the reality: this franchise operates in markets with much longer tourist seasons than Myrtle Beach. Without building a local customer base once that summer window closes, you're finished. The problem is, locals aren't going to come back here once the tourists leave. The food really isn't good. The Philly cheese egg rolls were just okay - nothing special. The chicken Baja Bowl had decent flavor, but the Tostitos were stale. There's no excuse for that. You're serving it to paying customers. The barbecue chicken sandwich was the only solid item. The basket of fries was tiny. Most menu items feel like they're checking a box rather than delivering real quality. Service was fine for us, but noticeably slow for other tables. They're clearly still finding their footing as a brand new operation. The bowling is off the charts tiny - far shorter and narrower than regulation. It's a gimmick, not real bowling. But the detail that stuck with me: the dirty glasses stacked at the bar in the main dining area. Yuck. That's the kind of thing that tells you everything about the operation's standards. And the "No Concealed Weapons Allowed" sign at the entrance eliminates trained, law-abiding South Carolina permit holders while doing nothing to stop actual criminals. I went to this restaurant on Saturday and I had to wait 1 1/2 hours to get in, they told me because it was the first Saturday since they opened. I have to say that I will give it a 5 for beauty and ambience, it's a lot of fun. The service was also great and they have a big screen on their tiki bar. Btw, you do not have to wait to seat there if seats are available, and you can walk in without waiting to be called. Looks like they will have outdoor seats very soon. As for the food, my buffalo wings were good and also my drink. It's not a high quality restaurant as you would expect but it's definitely a great place to have fun, it's humongous. The service from our server was great even the though the food took a long time to come out, I won't punish the review for the long wait on food, we had a big party and the place has only been open about two months. I have worked in restaurants and know how you can struggle to get in a groove shortly after opening. There is an arcade to enjoy while you wait and the setup in the arcade to easily get thousands of tickets for your kids to get a great prize let me know that Guy is a good dude. He has kids and clearly understands that most arcades are rigged against but his is rigged for you. Also, I had one of his beers and it was surprisingly very good. I believe it was the Ale choice. Will definitely be going back when we hit MB again. read more

Went to downtown Flavortown for late lunch, the service was a little slow but it happens, the restaurant is decorated nicely but they have all the shows playing along with music so you can't actually tell what's going on during the shows, I think they should add subtitles but ‍. The food wasn't as great as I was hoping it would be, the Mac and cheese was basically flavorless, the waffle fries from the fry trio were hollow, and the burger had about no sauce on it, and when I asked for more the sauce came out a completely different color than previously. Overall it's a pretty good restaurant for families as there's a lot of games and it's decorated cute, but it's also very loud and a bit slow as it wasn't packed when I went. read more

$500 Family Night That Fell Flat - Not Worth the Hype After hearing so much buzz about this place, our family was excited to give it a try. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. We arrived on a Wednesday evening around 7:30 PM and were quoted a one-hour wait for a restaurant table. To pass the time, we spent $86 on bowling for four people. During that time, we struggled to get service and eventually had to ask the host to locate our server. Our server, Leslie, was kind and clearly doing her best, but she appeared understaffed and under-equipped. For example, she didn't even have a drink tray and had to carry beverages one at a time. The issue wasn't the staff--it was a lack of support, training, and resources. Once seated after the hour-long wait, the food was another letdown. I ordered the Korean Chicken Sandwich, which arrived on what looked like a basic hoagie roll with small pieces of chicken that were dry, cold, and lacking flavor. The fries were mediocre at best. The biggest disappointment was the dessert. We ordered the Graham Cracker Cookie Dessert for $15 expecting something memorable and shareable. Instead, it was essentially a single large chocolate chip cookie standing upright on a plate with a small scoop of ice cream, chocolate drizzle, graham cracker crumbs, and mini M&Ms. For the price, it felt underwhelming and overpriced. By the end of the evening, our family had spent close to $500 between dining, bowling, drinks, and dessert. For that kind of money, we expected a much higher level of food quality, service, and overall experience. If you're visiting Myrtle Beach and looking for great food and value, there are many better local restaurants to choose from.
