Bacon Mushroom Swiss and yaki-hot wings

Great Food & Chill Atmosphere We had an awesome experience at The Grumpy Monk in North Myrtle Beach! I ordered the Mushroom Swiss, which was rich and flavorful, and the Chicken Sushi, which was surprisingly delicious--fresh, light, and full of flavor. My wife had the Mushroom Swiss Burger and Yaki-Hot Wings, and both were a hit. The burger was juicy with just the right amount of mushroom and Swiss, and the wings had a perfect balance of heat and flavor. The vibe was relaxed, and the staff was friendly and attentive. This spot has a little bit of everything--burgers, sushi, wings--and they do it all really well. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

The menu was quite diverse, but nothing particularly unique and from a value perspective it's extremely overpriced for the quantity and quality of what you get. I'm not looking for mammoth portions, but to pay nearly $17 for a steak sandwich with very little meat and mostly cheese is hugely disappointing. Kind of a cool vibe once you come in, and a very family friendly place... With the number of arcade games and such. Service was great, so not taking anything away from the staff. Bottom line: overpriced food with a fairly broad menu that you can do better with at other places.

Gluey egg roll stuffed with nothing. Generic ketchup, wtf. Beer was good . No one wants fries without Heinz ketchup..

This was my first time having a not so great experience from GM. I ordered the turkey wrap and salad via DoorDash The wrap was good but the salad was just lettuce and maybe one other thing. It just wasn't prepared with love, if that makes sense. Maybe dining in versus delivery makes a big difference but I wouldn't order delivery again.

We were out with the kids and decided to stop here even though we were trying to stay away from chain restaurants. We were seated immediately, which surprised us with the crowds outside. We were promptly greeted by our waiter, Dom. He took our drink order and asked if we wanted an appetizer. We started off with a bavarian pretzel. The kids loved it. Here is everything we ordered: Blackened Mahi Sandwich Mac and Cheese Grilled Cheese Chicken Tenders American Pride Burger Overall, the food and service was good **If you are a veteran, make sure to mention that for your discount.

Great time at the grumpy monk. Very open format with a good size bar and seating at two levels of booths and tables. Lots of TVs to watch any sporting event. There was live music on a small stage when we were there. Great drinks and diverse beer selection. The sushi was excellent as well as the pretzel. The burger I got had peanut butter on it, very interesting flavor. Worth a try if you love peanut butter. Salmon was great. Service was decent.

Great space with a lot going on. We visited on the weekend at 8pm and got right in. Live music was playing and there is an arcade for the kids. There was a big bachelor party behind us so unfortunately our service was slow. We ordered the peanut butter hamburger, sushi, and a few appetizers. The white queso is extremely thick. The buffalo chicken dip was good and so were the fried green tomatoes. Just a tad soggy. The root beer is great has a nice creaminess.

We arrived to Myrtle Beach late, and were very glad we found this place to be opened. The food was really good! We pecan crusted chicken, fried fish and oysters. Everything was delicious! We loved the pecan crust on the chicken; it can with maple syrup drizzle which went great with the sweet and savory crust and chicken. The fried cabbage with bacon side is amazing too. The service is helpful and friendly, and the place is a fun casual atmosphere! This was a great stop for dinner!

A friend of mine recommended we eat here and I'm glad we did. It was our last day in the area and we wanted to eat earlier than usual. We arrived around 3:00 pm and there were only a few cars in the lot. I worried they weren't open. I had checked online but I couldn't find the restaurant hours on their website or Facebook page. Thankfully they were open. When you enter, a sign says to seat ourselves and someone would be with us. This place is very big. Large arcade sections and a bar with TV's everywhere showing every sport channel available. Everything looked clean and the booths were roomy. We sat in a booth and our server brought us our menus and took our drink order within just a couple minutes. Their menu itself is like a book. Plenty of choices, which made it a little harder to decide what we wanted. We all decided on handheld sandwiches of some sort. We ordered Southern Pickles to start. They had a nice bite to them and a good pickle flavor. Our entrees arrived just as we finished our appetizer. All of the food was delicious. I ordered the Rodeo burger and it was cooked perfectly. Great seasoning and toppings. My brother ordered a BLT wrap, which he said was really good as well. My mom ordered the pulled pork sammich. She liked it as well. Overall this was a great experience. Glad our friend recommended it and we will definitely stop back in next time we are in the area.

We just visited for the 2nd time and realized I never posted a review from our first visit…read more 1st visit we sat at one of the pub top tables by the bar with all the TVs over it. Our wait staff was Makenzie and she was great! We had fried pickles as an appetizer. Came out quick and breaded just right. I had the Cheeseburger Sliders Basket - 3 mini burgers topped with American cheese, mustard, ketchup and pickles. Served with a French fries and coleslaw. My daughter had the Caribbean Jerk Chicken Sub - grilled chicken breast cubed and sautéed with onions, banana peppers, jerk seasonings and melted Provolone cheese. Served on a sub roll with lettuce and homemade pineapple cilantro salsa with pub chips. 2nd visit- It has been about 2 months from our first visit. We were at a booth this time. We had a tv designated just for our booth. The TVs are number and you can have them change the channel for your table. Our one of the large TVs if you don't have your own tv. I had the Gamecock - grilled chicken sandwich topped with bacon, melted Provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and ranch dressing on a brioche bun. Very good sandwich. My husband had the French Dip - roast beef and Provolone cheese baked on a sub roll with caramelized onions and served with au jus. Bobby was our server. He was attentive and nice. Good food in a clean sports bar.

This was my first visit to Dagwood's in North Myrtle Beach. I stopped in after 8 p.m. on a Monday,…read moreso I realize late evenings on a weeknight can feel a little different from peak hours. I was greeted quickly and directed to a seat at the bar. The same staff member soon brought me water and poured a 10-ounce Dirty Myrtle IPA, a local double IPA on tap. She made sure I knew it was a smaller pour, which I appreciated. The beer itself was very good. After getting a menu, I ordered the fish and chips, which is usually my go-to when trying a pub for the first time. The plate looked great when it arrived: four large pieces of fried cod (enough for two people, really), fries, a big pickle spear, two cups of tartar sauce, and coleslaw. The coleslaw deserves special mention. It was excellent--honestly one of the best I've had anywhere. Fresh, balanced, and really flavorful. The fish arrived hot and the first bite was very good: flaky cod with a crisp exterior. As I worked further into it, though, I realized the batter was thicker than I personally prefer. Instead of a light, crispy coating, it was heavier and softer underneath the crust, and as the fish cooled that became more noticeable. The fries were decent but seemed like they had been sitting under heat for a bit. Not bad, just not as hot and crisp as they could have been. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, and it seems like a good place to meet friends or catch a game. Service at the bar was polite but fairly minimal, and my total was just over $27 for the beer and fish and chips, which felt a little high for the overall depth of the meal. Overall, it was a mixed experience: good vibe, great coleslaw, decent fish, but not quite a standout meal for me. I'll likely give Dagwood's another try and explore other items on the menu. And when I do, I'll definitely order that coleslaw again.
