Fried Green Beans and 1/2 order of nachos!
    Jacqueline L.

Ate out here for the first time on Saturday January 24th 2026 with my parents. Tavern in the Forest is basically like a bar restaurant that also serves pizza and has Happy Hour items from 4-7 Every day of the week! When we parked, it was actually quite busy, and we walked into the restaurant, someone greeted us and told us there was a wait since there was a party going on in the front room. So we put our name on the waitlist and didn't wait as long as anticipated. We were sat at a high top booth. This place has plenty of booths, and tables as well as high tops and 2 bars! Lots of TVs to watch your favorite sports team! For their menu, they have everything from appetizers like pretzels, nachos, fried green beans, potato skins, and philly eggrolls, to entrees like fish and chips, chicken and waffles, to sandwiches, salads, and burgers-- and also pizza! Our server was Kelly. She brought us waters, and we all decided to try the Tavern Punch drink! This drink is also on their Happy Hour menu. The drink was made with grenadine and was very good! We all enjoyed it. We also ordered some appetizers such as the Fried Green Beans, and the Nachos half order. Food and drinks came out in the timely manner. We were given napkins and plates by our server. Appetizers were very good- Fried Green beans were excellent and didn't taste greasy at all! Nachos came with lots of toppings including jalapenos which were all on top. Nacho half order also was a big portion! Chips were fresh and crispy. Kelly made sure that we were happy, and checked on us constantly. For entrees, I got the BBQ Burger M, and my dad also. My mom got a sandwich. Our entrees came with fries- my only feedback would be to ask if the customer wants fries with their meal, never know, may want sauted spinach instead! I was fine with fries though! Again entrees came out in a timely manner, and food was very delicious, and was cooked to temperature. We got a box for half my burger and my mom's sandwich. Oh, and little mix up with the check, but both our waitress and us solved it. They do charge 3% for a credit card, but for the food i think it's worth it! Paid via credit card and left a cash tip. Hope to be back soon to try their other food! Oh, and side note- I do work here as a host- if you see me, do say hello! And this review may be a little biased because of that.

I enjoy visiting family and meeting up at Tavern in the Forest. It's a fun environment with good food and even better service. Always had a great time there!

Service was good, quick to our table about 7PM. The waitress said we had just missed the rush. Overall, it was a nice setting. We sat at a high table with an elevated bench seat. The food was decent, nothing that would make me beg to come back, but not bad either. My espresso martini was yummy! Overall, a 3 for us means we would give it another chance, but we aren't craving to rush back.

Tavern in the Forest is a really fun spot! We popped in around 6pm on a Sunday. It was fairly busy, but we had no problem getting a table. They have really good happy hours deals as well especially for appetizers and drinks! Our server was very kind and we had great service throughout the evening. We ordered the buffalo chicken dip to split for our group of three. It was a good portion to split and very tasty! Can't really go wrong with a buffalo chicken dip in my opinion. Then I enjoyed the specialty slice of the day which was a cheeseburger-style pizza with beef, pickle, tomato, and a fun burger sauce. It was just like a burger on a pizza! Plus I love anywhere that served by the slice, so you can mix and match! Overall, great experience for some bar food.

Food was good. Had wings which were crispy and tasty and fried pickles. The homemade ranch was a standout. Pizza was good. Place was crowded but a good time.

Teriyaki burger was great! 1st time here, nice atmosphere. Low key. Can bring the family or have a drink with friends. Staff was friendly, could have been a little more attentive and refilled drinks. Would try again if we were in the area.

The food overall is just okay.. nothing particularly memorable or something that would make you want to rush back. The one consistent highlight is the house salad, which is "hot bacon" and unique compared to the rest of the menu. Beyond that, most dishes tend to feel average, the Alfredo is just ok and while nothing is necessarily bad, there's not much that elevates the experience either. The environment also doesn't do much to enhance the visit. It's fairly plain, dark black, and lacks any real character or atmosphere that makes it feel special or worth choosing over other nearby restaurants. Overall, it's an "it's fine" kind of place; serviceable if you're already there, but there are plenty of stronger local spots worth going to first.

This restaurant recently was awarded Michelin recognition which I suppose is just before earning a star. It was the only restaurant in Myrtle Beach on the Michelin site, so we decided to give it a try. We were 5 gentlemen from all corners of the US and all travel extensively for business, so have eaten all over. I think we all agreed hands down, this was one of the best all around meals we had each ever had! We had appetizers, escargot and the shrimp over ravioli to start. I had their just made French onion soup (one of the best I've ever had), the sea bass while the others have various steaks each cooked to perfection! After being filled to the gills, our lovely server Bri talked us into the carrot cake, apple bread pudding (best dessert ever!) and the chocolate chip cookie skillet to sample! Each and every bite was just superb! I'm from MA and a lobster fan, but the lobster on top of the sea bass could quite possibly be the best piece of lobster I've ever tasted! Don't be fooled by the location...seemingly in a strip mall and they recently turned an outdoor patio into an indoor seating area that's intimate and cozy. Perfect setting for us to have good conversation and not having to yell over crowded restaurant noise. It was however a Tuesday night and not overly busy, but I suspect now that the Michelin team has them on their radar it will only be a matter of time before the secret is out! Thanks to Bri for a very enjoyable night with her pleasantries and knowledge of the restaurant and each dish to the ingredient! Very pleased all the way around and will make this an annual visit during our conference! If this is an example of what Michelin ratings are all about then I'm excited to search out more Michelin restaurants during my travels! Kudos to the chef and kitchen staff and bartender...The food was absolutely incredible!!! We all had a great night and it was worth the prices! Best of luck to you in the future! Andy

The…read moreapproach is awkward and confusing, tucked away enough that you begin to wonder if you've accidentally wandered into the maintenance area instead of a restaurant. Once inside, though, the place is genuinely attractive. The dining room is bright, clean-looking, and modern, with a relaxed coastal style. The outdoor patio and beach view are the real stars. Sitting outside looking toward the ocean is exactly why people come to a place like this. The food was mostly good. The chips were thin and crisp, the guacamole fresh and homemade, and the salsa was simple but tasty. The chili lime bowls were fresh and flavorful, and the beach bowl and surf-and-turf salad were both very good. The kids' burger special with two little sliders and fries was a smart idea and worked perfectly. The margaritas were also good. The Salt & Lime margarita and the Flaca "skinny" margarita were both enjoyed by everyone at the table. Our server, Pierre, was excellent--friendly, attentive, and easygoing. And despite the name, no, he is not French. Unfortunately, the restroom was a real problem. The dining room looked polished, but the restroom was visibly dirty, with grime and stains around the fixtures and toilet. Fair or not, that always makes people wonder how careful the kitchen is as well. A restaurant can spend a fortune on light fixtures and ocean views, but if the restroom is neglected, people notice. Overall, Salt & Lime has a beautiful setting, good food, good drinks, and a terrific server, but the restroom and awkward entrance keep it from being a place I could fully recommend without hesitation.
